I spent a weekend helping my best friend pack up and move, and wanted to bring her a few sweet treats as a little gift. She has celiacs and so I am always super cautious with baked goods I buy for her so that they're safe for her to have. Crestone was one of the first (and highest rated) bakeries I came across that were specifically catering to the gluten free world. I read through a couple reviews and was almost immediately sold - the hype was great and they weren't too far from me to stop in before making my drive. Crestone is nestled in a pretty large strip mall area, and is right next door to another baked good shop. There is plenty of parking, so finding a spot was very easy. Right when I walked in, I was surprised by the sheer quantity of items in the storefront; there are several refrigerated cabinets, glass cases, shelves, and tables with various items on display. You can kind of see into the back when you walk in, and there are a number of people bustling about. The atmosphere is very welcoming, and the folks in the front I assume were the owners. The wife (I think) offered to answer any questions I had, and was very obviously knowledgeable about all the items and nuances with the various recipes. I explained I was there for a friend and that she has had a tough time finding gluten free items that both lasted and tasted good. I was guided around the whole storefront and given several recommendations for items that would be good to try and also hold up for the few hours of driving I had in front of me. After perusing for some time, I got several items: a loaf of sandwich bread, sugar cookies with buttercream frosting, apple fritters, and a soft pretzel. I don't usually shop for gluten free items, but the variety of product at this place is super impressive. I don't see quite the level of diverse products really anywhere I've ever been before, to be honest. This rivals the chain store bakeries in terms of the different types of goodies, in my opinion. All items held up super well during the drive, and the couple of cookies I saved for myself the next day were just as delicious as I expected. My favorite of the bunch had to be the fritter... I LOVE apple fritters normally but I have to say these were probably better than any I've had before, gluten free or not. My friend absolutely loved everything and said that it was by far the best gluten free option she has had to date. That being said, I will definitely be back. This is best gluten free bakery I've been to in the metro area! Stopped in yesterday for the first time and was surprised at the selection. Fresh and refrigerated, there was plenty to choose from. Not only great products, but an even better owner! She spent time and talked with us, taking us through her menu and answering all of our questions. I am used to having to travel far to find fresh gluten free goods. I was so excited to find that this bakery is only five minutes from my house! I went a bit crazy and purchased about $50 worth of goodies. The soft pretzels, marble brownie, and the chocolate chip cookie were my favorites. The staff was super helpful and friendly as well. Crestone Bakery is an absolute gem. I first tried their gluten free soft pretzels (!!!) at an event at Holidaily in Golden, where people were literally buying 5+ of them at a time and carrying them by the fistfuls. I also got a slice of poppyseed loaf which was delicious as well! I again stopped by today while on a drive down to Denver and was SO impressed. They were offering meatball subs today after trying out different versions all week and it was absolutely amazing! I picked up an Apple fritter, slice of coffee cake, lemon bar, and pack of cinnamon rolls to take home too and am so impressed. My boyfriend and I come here regularly! It's great having a gluten free bakery so close to us, and it is also very dangerous My boyfriend has a nut allergy so being able to ask and see what every dessert contains when it comes to allergens is wonderful. We always forget they are closed on Sunday and Monday because we end up driving there and then remembering. The bread is so good, especially for grilled cheese. The whoopie pie was alright, but the pumpkin cheesecake was delicious. I enjoyed the level of sweetness because it was not overly sweet and the crust had a nice crunch. Very good flavors. I am so excited and sad to have discovered this bakery. Excited to have found a place where I can find gluten-free pastries and a variety of baked goods (not just sweet but also bread and biscuits, etc). I am gluten-sensitive so this find is important to me. I'm sad because this place has been around for well over a year and I'm only discovering it now and also, I'll have to control myself and resist to stop at this place and buy myself something yummy. I want to try all their goods!! They had such a wide variety of delicious things to try. It was honestly hard to pick what to try. I had my eye on their soft pretzel, tiramisu, lemon bars and their cinnamon rolls (you can have them with or without icing and they even have ones you can take home to bake). Today I bought 2 of their pastries first, their strawberry Whoopee pie (seasonal flavor for the summer). In the fall I was told they'll have pumpkin whopper pie, peppermint for Christmas and red velvet for Valentine's Day. The strawberry Whoopee pie was so delicious and moist. It didn't have a powerful strawberry flavor but it was still yummy and went well with my iced coffee. I should have asked her name(she may have been the owner or manager) but she was so welcoming and friendly and helpful. She explained everything about their products and their options and asked about my allergen concerns. I will have to edit my review when I try the Tres Leches cake. This type of cake has been a long time favorite of mine and I have never found a gf option before until now. You would never know this bakery was entirely gluten free. Some gluten free is dry or the texture is off, not not here! They perfected gluten free baked goods! They also have baked good that's are diary free, egg free, vegan....they have the "healthy" baked goods! I tried the zucchini bread and the pumpkin bread - both fantastic and would get again. Hands down. Better than breads I tried with gluten and dairy. They were both just delicious! I also had a pecan pie bar - this was good too, but as to be expected, it was sweet. I mean, pecan pie is sweet, so definitely a great gluten free alternative to pecan pie, but I am just not a huge sweets fan. The pretzels were great too, sweet bread pretzels. I got the frozen ones and warmed them up later. Turned out great! Next time I want to try the cinnamon rolls and biscotti! Both looked yummy. Absolutely FABULOUS!! I got frozen soft pretzels, take and bake cinnamon rolls, a loaf of sandwich bread (frozen) and a lemon bar. So far I've tried the lemon bar (took a bite in the parking lot because I couldn't wait) and the soft pretzels and WOW. I can't believe these are gluten free AND celiac safe. They're divine and I can't wait to go back for more. The woman who helped me was super friendly and gave me a sheet with instructions to make the perfect take and bake cinnamon rolls for tomorrow morning and they even answered a comment I left on a Facebook post in under an hour. There was a line when I got there (~12noon on a Saturday) but it moved really fast and I was honestly so glad to see a celiac safe place so busy. Amazing place! Celiac's bakery paradise! Didn't have much time but Tyler directed us to the zucchini and poppyseed bread, fresh pretzels and pre baked cinnamon rolls. Entire selection is celiac friendly and reasonably priced. Tyler stated that the owner (Matt) has celiac. We will return when in town! Hands down THE BEST gf cinnamon rolls! I got a loaf of fresh sandwich bread on my visit too, and a Whoopie pie. Just SO good. The owner is so friendly and knowledgeable. You can eat the sandwich bread without roasting it to take that "gf edge" off. Soft and delicious. Be careful with the cinnamon rolls. They are dangerously good. Stopped in today and was so happy to see that they are all gluten-free! The people working were happy to tell me all about the food. I bought some bread, cookies, soft pretzels (even more delicious warmed in the oven when I got home), cream puff, pecan bar, and two small baguettes. My family has loved everything so far.
