Amazing! We had them create our wedding cake in Grand Lake and it was amazing! It was 4 tiers we kept the top tier for our anniversary. My self and my husband are both not gluten free and would come back to this bakery again and again its fantastic! The most authentic flavors, we had the vino sponge cake with raspberry compote and cream cheese frosting everyone at the wedding kept saying it was amazingly moist and had amazing flavor! They are so easy to get ahold of to schedule the day of pickup and everything. read more

Sweet Sisters Bake Shop - Bakeries Near Me - Boulder, Colorado

After trying one of their tasting boxes, we knew we wanted Sweet Sisters to make our cake. We ordered a gluten-free sweetheart cake for both our cake-cutting and for a couple gluten-free guests, and it turned out absolutely perfect. The details were elegant, pretty, and exactly what we had been looking for. We're not gluten-free ourselves, but we absolutely loved the cake! You truly would not know it was gluten-free. I also ordered sprinkle cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and mini muffins for our getting-ready morning, and everyone loved those as well. read more

I reached out to these friendly folks after I received a recommendation from a gluten free bakery near me that didn't have the flavors I was looking for in a birthday cake. I was just under two weeks out from the pickup date, but unfortunately they were booked for custom cakes that weekend. They said they can still make any of their standard flavor options. So I took a look at their menu and WOW! They have some really unique options that you won't find anywhere else. Their signature cake is Herbs de Provence, four layers of honey, rosemary, thyme and lavender cake with apricot honey filling frosted with goat cheese icing. I got a Hummingbird, two layers of banana, pineapple, pecan spice cake frosted with cream cheese icing. They were able to order a custom otter edible image to put on it with a happy birthday message. This was right up the birthday girl's alley and hit a home run. The cake was the best gluten free cake any of our party have had, including two celiacs. It was one of best cakes I've had, regardless of gluten. It was moist and flavorful and just so delicious. read more

** Celiac, gluten free review ** I have made several trips to the Sweet Sisters back shop and their products are fantastic. I have a celiac child and the rest of the kids are gluten free / dairy free so finding a place that make great breads, deserts, and other goodies which my kids can eat is absolutely fantastic. The service is always nice and they also share when they cooks their breads as they run out fast! if you're looking for a great gluten free / dairy free bakery then look no longer because this bakery hits all the right notes. I am so glad they are around! read more

I ordered a Vindalicious cake and they happened to have fresh warm baguettes available when I went to pick it up. The cake was the best cake I've ever had, and not just the best vegan or GF cake. We're big fans of spice cake and molasses and this delivered. It was dense, so believe them when they tell you how many a cake serves. The baguette was the best GF baguette I've had too. We ripped off chunks and ate them in the car. It was good the next two days as well. read more

*CELIAC / GLUTEN FREE REVIEW we JUST missed getting a baguette, but got lots of other goodies instead! We got the brioche rolls, bread boule, macchiato cupcake, carrot cake cupcake, and the cookie dough cake. oat flour is used in most products - so if you are sensitive to that, be advised. The bread is super moist and flavorful, the cupcakes were great, and honestly the cake was a little lacking in my opinion but still a nice, moist build! great prices, very kind staff, and absolutely no problems with anything I ate:) read more

If I could give TEN STARS I WOULD!!! That is how PHENOMENAL their items are! Best all gluten free bakery! I personally am super particular about gluten free baked goods and am hard to impress but this place NAILS it! We stopped in on our way home from the Flatirons about 10 minutes before closing and the staff was so incredibly nice, telling us their favorite treats and being patient as we made the tough decisions of what delicious items to buy (and not buy everything we saw!) The TREATS! Red velvet cupcake, lemon cupcake, sugar cookie, blueberry muffin and not pictured a baguette and carrot cake. WOW! All SO good, so fresh and tasty and the best gluten free treats I've ever had. It is 100% worth any amount of driving out to Boulder. I'm live on the east coast, and this place definitely makes a trip back to CO worth it! I hope they ship orders one day! read more

Delicious! Cute local place with cool coffee drinks and breakfast items. Love the vibe.

Their GF and vegan cakes are fantastic! They are better than regular cakes! I have been ordering these cakes for YEARS!

Sweet Sisters cake and cupcakes are unmatched in Boulder! We are not even gluten free, yet we choose their desserts over all the other bakeries in town. They just baked our wedding cake and 150 cupcakes for our guests. We heard nothing but rave reviews all night! Hire them for your next event. They were very accommodating and easy to work with. Thank you Sweet Sisters!! read more

I ordered a short-notice cake for a coworker's recognition and they didn't disappoint! In the group, we had someone who's gluten free, someone who's dairy free, and a bunch of omnivores. As others have said, you cannot tell these cakes are gluten free. They don't have the weird texture or flat taste. They taste phenomenal! I'm so glad to have found a solid bakery for all my future needs. And the unique flavor offerings are so fun. I can't wait to try them all. I've ordered LOTS of dairy and/or gluten free cakes over the years and these are the best. The prices aren't crazy either, so it's a win-win. read more

I've been wanting to check this place out FOREVER... finally took the plunge today. I wish I had come here sooner... WOW! Amazing cupcakes... When I took a bite into that cupcake... it was Heaven!!! Usually I can tell when it's gluten free.... but this seriously tastes like a real cupcake! They have the perfect blend for their cupcakes... it's super moist and jam packed with flavor!!! Seriously the best cupcake I have ever had!!!! We also stocked up on a peasant loaf, dinner rolls, delicious chocolate chip and Italian cream cookies.... delish! You have to check this place out, even if you don't have dietary restrictions I actually spoke to one of the associates there about doing an order for a special occasion next year and they were super accommodating and answered all my questions! They can literally accommodate any dietary restriction. We have friends who are allergic to tree nuts, some with lactose intolerance, and several who are gluten sensitive or celiac.. using this bakery will accommodate everyone!!!!! read more

Every thing happens for a reason! We found this bake shop after another bakery ghosted us. We are so happy we did. First of all, try the Herbs De Provence cake or cupcake. I was blown away and it is honestly the best cupcake I've ever had. Not as sweet as the average cupcake and we tried this flavor just to try it. Never expecting we would both want it for the entire wedding cake. They have been so lovely and easy to work with and am so excited for our guests to experience such a unique and delicious creation! read more

I ordered a custom cake and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was a gluten free kitchen. Nobody could even tell that it was gluten free, because the cake was so good. I'll be ordering again from here!! read more

A Celiac haven!!! This place is to die for. I purchased the baguette and a slice of orange cake to go as I was in town for an appointment and both were heavenly. The staff was so kind and offered 2 different samples in the store, both of which were awesome. You cannot tell based on the texture that their items are gluten free, which is nearly impossible to find. Best of all, I got to enjoy fresh out of the oven baguette for the first time since being diagnosed 3 years ago! The cake was equally delicious and moist, and even the frosting tasted unique. I will definitely return when in the area!!! read more

I ordered my wedding cake from Kim and Jake's, after tasting every gluten and dairy free cake option from Denver to Fort Collins. The Kim and Jake's cakes that I sampled were all moist, flavorful, and came in inventive flavors like red wine, apple spice, ginger, and even curry. When I tried their Herbs de Provence cake, which is packed with lavender, rosemary and thyme (plus a delicious apricot honey filling), I immediately fell in love. It is the perfect balance of sweet and savory and absolutely unlike anything I have ever had before. None of my guests could believe that it was dairy and gluten free, and several told me that it was hands down the best cake they've ever had. I can't recommend Kim and Jake's enough! read more

Huge fan. So worth it. Wife loved it! Truly an outstanding and so delicious gluten free 8" birthday carrot cake. Beautiful presentation, too. I recommend this bakery so highly. Thank you! read more

What a wonderful find...an entirely GF bakery. On this occasion, we called in to see if they could provide a last-minute birthday cake, and by chance they had a 6" carrot cake with cream cheese frosting in the case. They customized the message for me, and by noon we were cake in hand! So far, I have tried their cupcakes, cookies and cakes. Even if you don't want gluten-free baked goods, I would still order from this spot. Their cakes are MOIST, yummy and filled with quality ingredients. I wish their cream cheese frosting were a tad more cream cheesy than sugary, but that's personal preference. I believe the carrot cake has walnuts, raisins and pineapple, so it is complex and delicious. Their standard cakes (vanilla, chocolate, etc) are so damn delicious that I guarantee you'll be guarding the table for cake poachers. The cookies and cupcakes are the bomb, too...but I would skip the 'day-old' cookies even if they are 1/2 off...they were pretty rock solid. Highly recommended! read more

Kim and Jake's did our 3 tiered wedding cake and wow, it was amazing! You can't tell their cakes are gluten free at all! We had such an easy time booking as well. We actually got all of our tastings mailed to us due to the pandemic and then we decided on separate flavors for each tier. (The ginger lime spice cake and the espresso cake are delicious). They were able to accommodate all our requests for decorating as well. My only regret is not having more cake myself during the wedding because we completely ran out! read more

Gluten-free cuppers that peel off insane combinations you fear, but want to get cuds in the club with. Like that bad girl in high school. The one with, like, seven slap bracelets on her arm. The pain she endured to get that look... The Hummingbird (a variety Baked in Cohasset turned me on to) is a moist, spiced sponge with niblets of banana, pineapple and pecans under cream cheese frosting. There's a constant cupcake battle around the size/price ratio, and being one who appreciates the nature of a delectable, gluten-free baked good, I still found the two-bite treat to be a bit hefty at $4. (Her vanilla/vanilla rang in just under). Plus, the frosting had a frozen center. We didn't realize til' we drove away, and the subsequent tooth shock killed my second bite. Kim & Jake have a vision, and the promise is oh so sweet. I'd have hoped for a better experience in their wee store front, especially with all these glowing reviews. Maybe it was just an off day (or an extra chilly display case?). read more

I've had a few of their cakes and really like them. I first found some at Whole Foods but this time I ordered my own birthday cake (my husband does not bake) at their store. It was nice to meet them and smell the baking in the back. The cake is just what I wanted, outside the ordinary without being weird, and oh so fresh. read more

I ordered a cake for my son's first birthday (see photo) and it turned out super-cute! We had the Paul Frank monkey as the theme and they got it spot-on!. While I was there I also ordered a couple of their gluten-free cupcakes for my sister-in-law and father-in-law and heard they were delicious. As you would expect, pricier than a cake from King Soopers or Target, but better in terms of quality, flavor, and service! In fact, they originally told me they would need a couple of days for a special order, but turned it around in less than a day. I would definitely order from here again if I needed a cake for a special occasion. read more

Kim and Jake's just did the cakes for our wedding.. and WOW. I'm gluten-intolerant and have been gluten-free for 12 years. We found Kim and Jake's through my now sister-in-law who also eats gluten-free and lives in Louisville. We did a tasting in November and chose the almond poppyseed cake with almond frosting and the macchiato cake which we already knew we loved. THE CAKES WERE SO DELICIOUS. Our guests went crazy and most didn't require gluten-free bakes. But, for my two celiac family members, they were delighted they could share in the cake. Absolutely outstanding. HOLY AMAZING PEASANT BREAD! I haven't had a bread like product in over 7 years (I'm allergic to wheat and yeast). I am in heaven eating a sandwich right now. Thank you for being magicians! I'm not sure what spurned hubby into a visit to Kim and Jake's today...but whatever! I'm glad he took the extra few minutes to swing in and buy us some cupcakes. Red Velvet, poppy seed with a hint of amaretto...and, oh.my.god, chocolate chocolate espresso! Yep. All were delicious and well worth the extra calories. Moist cake, deliciously textured and flavored frosting, and exactly the right size for the price. I've always prided myself on making every birthday cake in our family, but this little taste of cupcake heaven has convinced me that the next time I am pressed for time, I might just partake in a little outsourcing...to Kim and Jake. read more

We were visiting from out of town with our daughter who has Celiac disease and is extremely sensitive to gluten. We decided to try all of the dedicated GF places that Boulder has to offer and Kim and Jake's was a HUGE highlight! Kim was super nice and spent a lot of time talking to us. My kids picked and devoured cupcakes. The adults grabbed one of their baguettes - and to be honest, I wasn't expecting too much after a year of trying GF bread - AND WE WERE ASTONISHED. Seriously, it's by *far* the best bread we've had in a year of eating GF. We went home and all of us disappeared that baguette with butter and jam. Sooooooo amazing. As a mom of a child with celiac, this bread literally brought tears to my eyes because I knew there is *hope* for delicious GF bread in her future. Thank you Kim and Jake and keep up the good work!!! read more

Our office recently had a serious discussion about inventing several new employees, so that we could have more birthday celebrations for the sole purpose of enjoying more Kim and Jakes Cakes! Extraordinarily moist, but not gummy or chewy (I hate when places tout their cakes as moist but they're really just slightly underdone), I (and my colleagues!) would strongly recommend their alcoholic specialty cakes....my personal fave is the Sidecar, but other standouts include the Herbes de Provence, the Dark & Stormy, the Strawberry Margarita, and the White Russian. That's right, we've admittedly tried and loved them all! Worth every penny. read more

For our wedding we ordered a variety of cupcakes for the cupcake "tree" and a 6" coconut cake for the top layer. Our two families spent the weekend together getting to know each other. By the end of the weekend my new father in-law was acusing my step- mother of eating the last piece of coconut cake and lying to hide her crime. My new bride missed out on all the red velvet cupcakes and was not pleased. I hatched a scheme to hide Ginger spice cupcakes but someone found my stash... Kim & Jake were pleasant and helpful every time we dropped in to their tiny storefront. If you're looking for sweet yumminess you can't go wrong here. read more

They made our wedding cake and it was wonderful!!! They specially made a vegan cake (they're a gluten free bakery, and not everything is vegan) - it was gorgeous, delicious, and they delivered it to the wedding which took one extra bit of stress away from the day. Our non-vegan guests also loved the cake and had no idea that it was vegan and gluten free. So my hats off to Kim and Jakes. I am forever grateful that they exist. Ps We get a free 6 inch cake for our first anniversary! Pps We went back for our anniversary cake and something very special happened. They had a mixup and gave us a 12-inch cake no extra charge. They were really sweet and apologetic about it but knew we would be happy to have extra cake (who wouldn't??). We froze a piece for our second anniversary. I think this will become a tradition for us to get a small cake from them every year! read more
