Not only was the cake very delicious, it was decorated way better than we anticipated. We are beyond happy and satisfied with the entire process and product. This is coming from a true big back, cake lover, fat kid. I have been eating cakes for 30 years and this by far has been the driest, blandest, most atrocious, excuse of a cake I've ever consumed. The roaches in my apartment didn't even bother trying the cake. The cake was decorated beautifully, but does beauty matter if you're ugly on the inside? I have had better Betty Crocker cakes baked by children. I will just stick to my Chantilly cake from Wholefoods from now on. read more

Soo happy with A Cake Occasion! We used them for my daughter's 2nd birthday party cake. I had a custom cake made. It was nice to be able to pick out all of the flavors from soo many options. We went with almost all chocolate and had a fudge layer inside - sooo good! They made the cake exactly how I expected it. It was beautiful! We received a lot of compliments on it. I had an amazingly cute custom cake made. It was beyond adorable. My daughter loved it as did all of our guests. It was nicely baked and I could tell the ingredients were high quality. I paid $91 but I dont know if this is considered a fair deal or not as this was the first custom cake I ever ordered. Seemed like a good deal to me. My only complaint is that their admin side needs a little work. The person who took the order and the person who answers the phone dont have a good system. I ended up explaining what the cake looked like when I called in rather than just giving a name for the order. For a split second I was concerned it didnt get made at all which was scary, and could also be a very easy fix. read more

Used to be a great fairly priced place for a special occasion cake...not anymore. They wanted to charge 200.00 for a simple cake that was only for 20-30 guests charge everything seperate, i.e. cream cheese frosting for $30.00 extra. No way, only uninformed customers will buy what their selling. Horrible. Had a different place with better reputation sell me the same cake for $100.00 less. They even said they've heard a lot of others complain about their pricing too recently. read more

Went here on 2/11/23. We ordered my sons birthday cake a couple weeks before and that was the day we were going to pick it up. It was just a basic vanilla cake and blue and white butter cream. It was a good cake. Looking in their cooler they will really do a cake for anything and any design. Then they have multiple kinds of cupcakes. We the coconut and lemon poppy. Could use some more coconut flavor. But definitely will be back to try more. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We went on Saturday morning and they were very busy. read more

We were skeptical since we haven't had much luck finding a good cakery in the area - too dry, too sweet, etc. We've finally found it! With the big focus on custom cakes lately, it seems like flavor and moisture of the actual cake isn't always there. I've found design and aesthetic takes away from enjoying the cake. We got a birthday cake made here and it was delish and beautiful. We will be back for all our future bakery needs. So yummy! read more

One of our favorite local businesses in Thornton area. We love their cupcakes, brownies and cakes. We get a dozen cupcakes once a month to share with all of our friends. A Cake Occasion created the quad-layer cake for our wedding and it was gorgeous as well as delicious. The girl behind the counter was smart in giving me this sample ans I scooped it right up. Creamy ice cream and delicious pecan pralines. This was so good. *COOKIE MONSTER MINI SUNDAE: One of my daughters got this and I have to admit, the cookie monster ice cream in itself was so good. It was really good but I didn't want to be walking around with a blue mouth (yes, it made my daughter's mouth blue!) lol *THE MERMAID MINI SUNDAE: My other daughter got this as she loves mermaids. It was very cute and the ice cream inside it was delicious but she did say the mermaid tail tasted like wax (it was chocolate) and she didn't even finish it (which is saying a lot). If I could I would rate this a bad place for business. We have been customers for a few years now and this last visit is our last. Their cake have always been a hit or miss by that I mean too dry they are never ready in time and we would have to wait. This last cake we ordered was great until this past weekend. I received a call from a staff member about returning some plastic parts from a princess cake they made for us Jan 26th. When we ordered the cake they did ask for a deposit we were told it was because of they type of cake not at any moment did she say we need to bring the parts back. So when this staff member called me she had a attitude and decided to say I was not a respectable person and so on. She then got the owner on the phone and she was extremely rude and was pretty much saying that they were going to charge me for the parts that I thought belonged to the cake because her staff did not inform us we needed to take it back. She also said she did not believe me but she had to say the customer was right even if she did not think so she had more things to say that made me realize she probably should NOT have a bakery and her customer service sucks to say the lease. So 1st I would never buy a cake with rented items that makes me think that is not very clean. 2nd for the OWNER to yell and me and tell me maybe I should buy my cake from a Wal-Mart is rude and they have lost a costumer. I will never refer a person to this place because they clearly do not know how to run a business and inform customers of "rented" items. read more

I was referred by a wedding venue to try this company, so I set up a scheduled cake tasting. When my fiancé and I arrived, they were extremely busy - which impressed us. We looked at their books for about 5 minutes and then were told to sit at the table and our samples would be out in just a moment. When the samples arrived, they forgot the forks - 20 minutes later, she finally brought them out to us. No body ever sat down with us to discuss what we wanted, pricing, etc. We were left guessing what cake/fillings were what and it was just all very informal and rushed. I understand being busy, but what is the point of scheduling an appointment if you don't have someone available to focus on the appointment?! Needless to say, because of our experience at the tasting, we will not be using this bakery for our wedding cake. read more

I was shopping for my sons 9th birthday cake on 10/16/15 and visited several different cake shops. I was looking for something fresh and unique. While I was looking at options at A Cake Occasion, the owner walked in and was carrying several King Soopers bags filled with Betty Crocker cake mixes..... what a disappointment. I left immediately. I wanted something made from scratch not from a box! In addition, the customer service sucked! The staff who helped me was not very helpful. I was asking if anyone was familiar with Five Nights at Freddy's and they simply said sorry, No. If this was my shop I would have been more helpful by asking additional questions and offering to look it up online. read more

Cake Occasion went above and beyond our expectations for a wedding cake. When we first saw our cake we thought it was fake, that is how beautiful it looked. The flavors were so delicious and they offered very reasonable pricing. The staff was friendly and a joy to work with. We continue to receive nothing but compliments about our cake. Overall, I have and will recommend this business to anyone who is looking for baked goods of any kid for their next event or party. read more

I got a cake here for my birthday and it was my first time trying this place and they exceeded my expectations. we ordered over the phone when they actually had happen to be closed and they still took our order and completed it perfectly. I asked for one of those vintage cakes that are popular on TikTok right now. we picked it up and they boxed it for us and we were able to get right on our way. read more

I have been using this bakery since we moved here, 15 years ago! They are fantastic, nice and very reasonable. The cakes taste awesome and have always been exactly what we order. I am not extremely flashy, so I guess maybe I order more boring cakes, but they have always been exceptional! We also stop by about once a week to purchase cupcakes and brownies, which are always great too! read more

I have ordered cakes here for the last three years for my daughter's birthday and they impress me more and more every year. Every cake I request is very unique in theme and creation and yet they pull it off beautifully! They are also very flexible, allowing me to pick up the cake on Sundays for the past two years. I love this bakery and will continue to order only from them! read more

Ever since our tasting I knew Jen was going to be in our lives for a long while. I've ordered many treats from her and have never been disappointed. We booked Jen for our small wedding in 2020 as well when we decided to postpone the large event. She made us a small one tier cake that was perfection. There was no color or decoration or use of "creative freedom" that Jen (owner) said she would use. It looked basic and cheap, pic below. I had confirmed with Jen 1 month out via text what our wedding colors were going to be and specifically asked if she could add some of these colors and she said it was not a problem. I also said that yes she could have "creative freedom" when asked only to be extremely disappointed. Text Screenshot attached. Furthermore on our wedding day I texted Jen when I saw the cake and she responded saying I "received a cake you were charged for". Whereas nowhere in our contract or conversations was it brought up that icing color or decorating was a different cost and on our contract it simply stated "2 tier cake". I would have paid more had I known this or was communicated. Also on our wedding day texts Jen made it clear that my over $1,100 order was insignificant as she was dealing with another wedding that was having issues. Our wedding was having issues as well and then this cake and communication certainly didn't help. As you can see from my Yelp profile, I am a huge advocate for small businesses and it is disheartening when a small business acts so corporate in their handling of an issue. I paid Jen (owner) in full more than 6 months before our wedding as covid was hitting small businesses hard and to be let down by the end result is just unfortunate. I heard the cookie sandwiches were good. All cupcakes were missing meringues as discussed I would not recommend Ruby Jean.
