I stumbled upon this place looking for a breakfast sandwich (I remember seeing a sign out front that said BAGELS). I'm a bit of a breakfast sandwich connoisseur and can I just say, this was the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The bagel was giant, everything was hot and they fried the eggs fresh right in front of me after I ordered. In addition to breakfast sandwiches, they offer: lunch sandwiches, a full coffee bar and an assortment of freshly made desserts. All of the desserts are in lovely glass displays around the store. I'm astounded that this place makes enough money to pay the rent let alone everything else. It is very hit or miss. I was very excited when I moved into the area and saw that there was a cupcake bakery. I've given them many chances sometimes it's OK and sometimes it is disgusting. I had a really excellent everything bagel at this cake shop. Never been before, definitely a little run down and tucked in a discreet location. The bagel wasn't classic New York style but it was fresh and definitely tasted like a bagel and not the typical bagel bread that Colorado is known for. The last review I saw on the bagels was from a year ago. The bagel I had today looked nothing like the bagel I've seen previously pictured. Hoping they got more consistent over the past year. I'll give the positives. The service is very good and friendly and a nice clean atmosphere. Let's be honest, people in this part of Thornton are starving for unique, locally owned, non franchise, small business. They are dying to find anything that remotely resembles this and call them local, hidden gems. THIS BAKERY IS NOT THAT! First off, I'm just going to give a review on the bagels. I would rate these below average. I would not give them a one star because they're not terrible. But they are far from a traditional bagel or even a New York style bagel. They are very wide and very thin. I would say they're around an inch so when you cut them they can be a half an inch or less on each side. The consistency is nothing like a bagel. It reminds me more of just a dinner roll But again the flavor isn't bad. it doesn't seem that they even boil these bagels. And it doesn't feel like they cook them at very high temperature. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My family came in for a cake for my sister's birthday. We asked the cake decorator to write my sister's name in icing. The rose petal textured cake came back with hideous BLACK icing in cursive. We asked the baker if we could scrape off the icing and or put a cookie over it to fix it. The manager (or who I assumed to be the manager) came out and told us she was unable to fix it because we did not communicate to her the color and or gave them time ahead, the ONLY SOLUTION OFFERED would be to BUY THEIR STALE COOKIE TO FIX THEIR ISSUE. I was perplexed at the insensitivity, attitude, and lack of help we endured. Please save your money and find an establishment that treats their customers respectfully. This is not my oh man this place is the best nor is it a ick - it's a meh. Also very dependent on what you get. Bagel breakfast sandwiches are good. The eggs are made fresh per order and the bagels are really good. We actually ride our bikes here for breakfast on weekends and take breakfast sandwiches to go for early football games. The cupcakes are a disappointment. The look so good, but they are dry. Also the containers they put them in smush the frosting down. The empanadas are delicious sometimes and other times dried out. My fiancé drove back after 20 minutes because they screwed up our order, they forgot one of our bagels and not only did they help six other people before him, but they never even offered it to him for free or at a discount!!!! I've come to the Sweet Like Cakeshop for many years since I don't live far. I believe they have switched ownership a couple times but their selection and menu remains the same. They are a local business which I enjoy supporting. Einstein and bundt cakes are rich enough! Their bagels and sandwiches are really good and so are the cupcakes and other little treats. I wish they made more of those panini sandwiches but this is a cakeshop and not a deli, so I'll get over it. One thing I really enjoyed recently was their overly stuffed, delicious, homemade breakfast burritos. The tortillas are made from scratch and the green chili was perfect (green chili is not spicy but very flavorful). I've had bacon and chorizo so far and they were both extremely good. I can probably eat half of it but they are way better than the other well known, big breakfast burrito place in the area. This place is the hidden gem of Thornton. Not only do they have some of the best pastries and bagels you can get around here (fresh baked in house!) but their service, coffee and ambience are all amazing too. One of my favorite weekend morning activities is sitting in their shop with my girlfriend with a coffee and bagel sandwich in hand. This is all not to mention the prices! Breakfast for 4 people for under $25! Mind boggling! I almost didn't want to write this review so others wouldn't find my secret spot! I came across this little gem of a caffe by chance but boy am I happy I know about it now! There must have been 10-15 flavors of cupcakes in the case, sweet and savory empanadas, 2 types of free cookie samples, coffees, burritos, Italian paninis, fresh bagels, and breakfast sandwiches, and of course cake! I'm pretty sure I found heaven! There is a small cafe for in store dining which was clean and inviting. The shop is very roomy and set up so you feel safe distancing is no problem. I ordered an everything bagel breakfast sandwich with sausage, egg, & cheese. OMG this light and fluffy bagel I could have eaten all by itself without any toppings...it was that good! We saw some of their photos online and decided to order a cake when we discovered they ordered the spring fling. Although not quite as good as the Market's spring fling, it was nice to get a decorated cake. We decided to order a cupcake cake in which I spent about 15-20 mins speaking to her about what we wanted. She was very patient in translating. When we got the cake, it was nice but the cupcake cake was the most awful looking thing. I even sent an example of what we wanted but all they did was put the cupcakes together and write a little HBD sign and even that was gawd awful. The cake was not assembled sturdy enough because it had fell apart by the time we got to our destination. All the cakes were ruined. I added a photo of what the cupcake should've looked like and should've looked like a cake but all they did was put the cupcakes together and charged me $40 for it. This place is not good! We pre-ordered ( We pre paid for the cupcakes!) some gluten free cupcakes, and when we ordered them I SPECIFICIALLY asked if I needed a receipt, when I picked up. The sales clerk said NO, just your name. I went in a week later to pick them up, the sales clerk had no record of me or my order, and would not let me take any cupcakes. So they took my money! Poor business Practice--Purchased a Groupon on 2/1/2012 and attempted to redeem it on 3/29/21. Drove out of the way to get there. When I tried to use the Groupon at the bakery, the staff said that they were longer taking the Groupon and had stopped using Groupon. Well, they should have allowed those of us who purchased the Groupon in order try out the bakery, to use it. Would not buy anything from them because of this lousy customer service. This is a great bakery! They've expanded their offerings from the previous owners and have some fantastic new things, including empanadas. Their offerings include cakes, cookies, bagels, etc. I haven't had anything I didn't like so far. I have to stop myself from going by too often. read more
