It saddens me that I have to write this review because I have received 3 wonderful cakes from Dayanna. Also, she was so accommodating by making this cake on a Thursday when her availability is strictly weekends. However, if I knew that asking for an accommodation would mean my needs wouldn't have been met I would have looked elsewhere. I ordered a 7 inch buttercream cake but instead received fondant which went uneaten. I went back to review the invoice she sent and I realized there was a portion that said fondant but it also said buttercream so I just ignored it because I had no problems with the previous cakes I had received. This cake was for my friends son so I was so sad when they complained about the toughness of the fondant. I should have contacted her prior to make sure it would be buttercream but I believe she also could have let me know she would have been diverging from what I requested. Dayanna did a great job making my Dad's crab-themed birthday cake come to life! The 6-inch vanilla cake and raspberry filling tasted delicious and the design held up after going to SF 5 hours later. This size was enough for the 6 of us, but could easily feed 6-10 people. My family loved this cake! We ordered a cake from here and while it was pretty it did not taste like the flavor we ordered nor did it taste good. For $170 we expected more. We ordered a 6inch toffee crunch cake with toffee butter cream with a chocolate ganache outside. What we got was vanilla butter cream and fondant. She changed the outside only telling me after I asked about it after our event. She stated that the ganache kept breaking. We should have been contacted and given a choice of how we would like to proceed (we would have asked for chocolate buttercream) given how much we were paying for it and the price was based on what we ordered. We did not want a fondant cake, we actually can't eat most fondant due to dietary restrictions so this was a material change. I've included a photo of our inspiration and of the cake we got.
