It was my first time eating outside of LA County since other counties reopened so I was looking forward to sitting inside while eating. After placing my order I returned to my car for something, not realizing I wasn't supposed to use the entry door for an exit, and even though the employee dedicated to door monitoring didn't mean to be rude, it was a rude awakening to be suddenly told I was inappropriate, as I hadn't noticed any signs if they were present. For my fries I wasn't offered a ketchup bottle, just those horrid packets I thought I was free of once outside the city. At other restaurants I've since seen bottles available after the reopening, maybe there are still varied rules for counties and cities. This is a conscientious local chain that works hard on atmosphere, and maybe reassuring those leery of eating out in that very blue upscale county was their priority. Fortunately my next food stop was at a more casual place where I wasn't reminded of irrational, overcautious and heartless leadership by those in power who don't have the answers anyway, but until I did this place provided a depressing first impression of what the coming months might be like. I know this is an odd review, but given how much effort some places put on trivial presentation matters, I wanted to tell the restaurant I think being reminded as little as possible of dark events is more important (and alert potential customers who agree). I arrived hungry and ordered their special brand of Huevos Rancheos which was great but it was a mountain of food. Mind you, I had just finished a Triathlon, I'm 6'3 and I could not finish this plate. They easily could make it 25% smaller and charge 25% less. The kid had pancakes, mom had a Benedict and wife had a scramble - everyone enjoyed their food. They were also slammed on a Sunday morning and without exaggerating I think the food took about 5-7 minutes to come out. the bad; - the parking lot will not accommodate the breakfast crowd. You will be running across Hollister from the other parking lot if you want to be a part of the morning rush - the portions are too big - NOBODY is reheating breakfast food.... seriously, cmon. Make the plates 25% smaller and charge 25% less I have always liked CK. I used to go to the original location over where the Yardi campus is, years ago and I liked it then. Not much has changed. DO NOT USE THE WEBSITE TO ORDER!!! When we ordered our food for pick up, we checked what we had received and it was missing many ingredients and items. We called back to see if cajun can do anything about it and the customer service was horrible. To elaborate, they were quite defensive about everything they knew about the order and said that they would call us later to talk more about it since at the moment things were busy and they were behind on orders. We received no such call. Right as the place was getting ready to close, we went in to talk to them about it and they said that on their system it said something completely different than what we had ordered. So, it looks like there is something wrong with the website; Cajun should warn people wanting to get take out. One of the items we wanted was a replacement to another item, which they actually didn't offer for that entree; they then decided on their own account to leave out both items and not offer us anything or let us know, yet still charge us for the whole meal. They were still quite defensive and refused to accept that we simply did not receive what we ordered and what was on the receipt. The main lady at the front said that it was "a waste of our time coming here" and "we should check our items before" (which is not our responsibility as customers at all). The whole ordeal seemed very rude of them and drawn out because they didn't even offer to refund or provide a new meal, as we had to ask multiple times. This main lady was very aggressive, slammed the receipt and its tray on the counter multiple times, threw the receipt at us, and left midway through our conversation with her. It was clear that she was very heated up for no reason. After talking with this main employee for over ten minutes, she finally called her manager in and another employee, and after another long talk, they gave a refund "just to get it over with." There is a clear disregard for customer service and making sure customers are satisfied with their meal- this restaurant is very popular in the area, but it is disappointing to see this behavior because this is simply not how you treat customers. In the end, they refunded one or two of the items but it was still a waste of time and energy for a problem with their faulty website. To finish off, we would never come back just because of the terrible customer service experience at this location, and everyone else should beware as well. read more

Let me start off by saying the employees here are the sweetest, most attentive people. I am so thankful for the outstanding service provided. I ordered the veggie burger with everything & my sister ordered their banana french toast. Her food looked so good I wish I had taken a bite to indulge! My entree was one of the best plant based burgers I have ever tried, and I'm no stranger of vegan/vegetarian foods! Flavors were mouth watering, and paired well with steak fries (my favorite.) The staff brought out ranch for me without me asking. I was too enamored by the food to think of extra condiments, but I loved that special touch and gladly dunked my fries in! Towards the end of our scrumptious meal I was getting ready to ask for a to-go box for my leftovers to enjoy later on, and an employee swung by the table with a box already in hand. I am thoroughly impressed by the service here, and intend to return to savor many more meals with my loved ones. This is probably my favorite breakfast spot EVER. The food is delicious, the service is amazing, and they make you feel right at home. My servers name was Aldo, and was the best guy to have. The new Cajun Kitchen Cafe near Fairview is a very nice place for a brunch. It offers a nice variety of breakfast and lunch options and the staff is very friendly! My favorite dish is the Chilaquiles plate. It comes with a grilled spicy sausage, eggs cooked to order, and tortillas cut into triangles with sauce. Topped off with some sour cream and avocado, this dish is no disappointment! Especially if you enjoy chilaquiles with a kick just like abuelita would make em! It was a beautiful morning/afternoon so we decided to eat outside on the patio and enjoy some fresh air (and food)! The service was very prompt and attentive. As soon as my glass was empty, a busser came by and replenished my glass. Our server checked up on us multiple times during our meal and was always present! Not once did I have to struggle with getting his attention! Overall, it was a wonderful meal. I like this location a lot more than the one in Goleta and Santa Barbara. I am in Santa Barbara for. Business trip and decided to give this place a try before my 8 am meeting. I got into town at 6:15 and saw it opens at 6 am, so I was thinking it's perfect but not really. The front door was opened already and looks like it's opened for business. I sat there for over a min being the only person in there. The server/manager? came and said 6:30 am. I don't normally do reviews but I was completely dissatisfied with the service on Sunday. It took about 10 min for someone to ask if I wanted something to drink, then another 10 min went by and I had to tell two other people I was ready to order (I was ready when the server took my drink order of a specialty coffee but the guy never even asked and ran away right after). It took what seemed like a lifetime to get my food and when I finally did get it, it was lukewarm. When my food came I asked if I could just get a regular coffee refill in my specialty coffee cup (yes, my coffee was done by the time the food came). He said no, that he would have to give me a whole new cup and charge me...after I paid more than 5 bucks for the specialty...he said those were the rules. I wonder if they charge for the refills on regular coffee? ...or for sides? I more than likely won't be back. Bummer. read more

This is for the location that just opened on Calle Real. First time ever eating at this location and found a hair cooked right into my pancakes. It was disgusting I told the server he apologized and then said he would take 50% off of the pancakes, which showed poor customer service as this was their mistake and that item should be comped. It wasn't until I went to the front register with the bill and told them that I wasn't going to pay my money for health code violation that they removed the item from my receipt (the other food was good and had no problem paying for that). I usually get their jambalaya but opted for something new and tried their corn beef hash and it was mediocre. The first thing I tasted was the fake butter flavor they cook their food in, a margarine taste, that another helper mentioned in a previous posting. He got the chilaquiles and that was quite tasty.
