Situated just right across from Notre Dame this is the perfect spot for a quick drink or bite. The hostess out front was shocked when we asked for a table outside. It had been sprinkling throughout the day. There was a free spot at the corner, on the opposite side of the main street. Our corner was the spot where all the uber drivers picked up and dropped off passengers. It was a popular corner. My sister got an americano and crepe. I got a pint to prep for dinner. Let me tell you something , I was tipsy by the time we had to leave. My favorite thing about dropping by a cafe is you get to use their bathroom facilities. The service was great. The guy who waited on us didn't even write down our order. The food coming out the kitchen when I passed the bar area smelled so good. Kinda wish we had time to have some nibbles, but we had a dinner resy.

The service was impeccable let me first say. We had a big party and wanted to sit outside and we were accommodated. Then came a down pour of rain and we were so taken care of. Food was great no complaints. We all enjoyed our meal. My brother Patrick being a big guy said he could of ordered another entree. Lol But he didn't he ate his wife's. Lol

My son enjoyed escargot

01/04/2025 After visiting Notre Dame Cathedral and little souvenir shopping stopped in from reprieve of the cold plus the closest one. Happy I did as I was able to partake in French cuisine and glad to report I enjoyed it. First up escargot. Won't lie I was a bit hesitant. Just seeing the shells and thinking " snails" but I put on my big girl panties and dig in. I chose a great spot to experience. It was flavorful and well seasoned. A bit chewy but must admit I enjoyed it. Next up frog legs. Although well presented this was another test of grit. Psyched myself up and took that first bite. Once again well seasoned and flavorful. Meat tender and don't want to say but had a similar consistency to chicken. I'm glad I chose this cafe to be adventurous. Also the feel and energy I felt like a Parisian out for a bite. The little round tables, petite chairs only thing to make complete if I was seated outside but it was too cold. Offered to my son and surprisedly he accepted and tried and he also enjoyed. My burger was also delicious. Great lunch pick for my final Parisian lunch.

This was a fairly average experience in Paris. Everything we ordered was good but not exceptional. Definitely a tourist location with many English speakers about near the Notre Dame. The food itself was quite good. I was very happy I got experience my frog leg meal and it was exactly what I was hoping it was taste. Service was average but they were also pretty slammed during lunch time. (Side note: do not order a coffee with your frog legs. I think I was delusional)

Boeuf Bourguignon

We can recommend the Boeuf Bourguignon, even though it lacked the button white mushrooms and pearl onions from Ina Garten's recipe. The beef was tender and tasty, the potato wedges were fried, the carrots were perfectly braised and the red wine sauce sang a siren's song beckoning the French bread to dive in. What a perfect meal for a blustery Parisian day. Salut! For dessert, we opted for the Tarte fine a la pomme, glace vanille. It was a very thin Apple tart with layers of flaky pastry accompanied with a smooth scoop containing all the vanilla specs one could hope for.

English speaking waiter. We walked to Notre Dame and were feeling hungry. We stopped in this restaurant, which is right across the canal from Notre Dame; we could see it from our table. Our waiter spoke English, which was very helpful, and he was extremely friendly. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and relaxing. There is seating outside but it was full and there were large crowds walking by the tables, so we opted for a more comfortable inside seat for our meal. I ordered the Beef Bourguignon and it was very good. My wife got the rigatoni and it was also very good. After our meals we ordered the Irish coffee. It was loaded high with whipped cream and was delicious. We had a great experience here, loved the food and the drinks so we would definitely come here again. The staff was friendly and even though we don't speak French, we felt very welcomed and comfortable here. I would definitely recommend this place if you're near Norte Dame and looking for food.

Great location! I was seated by the window with the view of Notre Dame Cathedral which was just accross the street. Waiter was attentive, helpful and speaks perfect English. Food was good, got the escargot as a starter and Beef Bourguignon for my main entree. Wine lost was extensive. Price ia a little expensive which I kind if expected given the good location of the restaurant. I was so stuffed that I did not get a chance to taste their dessert.

We needed some lunch on a rainy day and saw this cafe near Notre Dame and decided to take a chance. The food was decent with some things being better than others- my croque madam- a glorified ham and cheese was tasty. French fries were just a meh - I was on a roll eating fries every day on this vacation but these were not worth the calories and stayed on the plate. They were out of the dessert of the day a chocolate pear Charlotte that I was looking forward to trying so that was a bit of a disappointment. Did get to try escargot- luckily it was only 6 in an order. They are chewy and mostly taste like butter and garlic - thankful they had them so I could say I tried them Service was decent - we tried to order in French and were probably snickered at behind our backs but oh well we didn't want to assume .

Amazing food 10 out of 10 beautiful scenery nice waiters and amazing food also the interior was nice (written by my 10 year old - he loved this place and insisted on writing this review! Perfect location if you are visiting the Notre Dame). My daughter (age 6) liked the scrambled eggs, and the breakfast with hot cocoa, juice and chocolate croissant.

Before the eggs arrived.

Okay, so this place is surprisingly good. Or, at least it is for breakfast. We walked by it many times since it was so near our hotel. We always carefully avoided it due to its touristy appearance and its dangerous name, only one vowel away from disaster. However, one early morning we walked by it again, in an attempt to find a different breakfast place nearby. Sadly, that other cafe seemed to be a victim of COVID, or at least it was closed, contrary to the posted hours. Though I was hungry, I am always willing to go the extra mile for good food. My husband, on the other hand, was just hungry and cranky and willing to go anywhere at all. I was still wary of Cafe Panis, located conveniently across the river from the famous Notre-Dame cathedral, but hubby was just happy enough that they appeared to be open. At least, I think they were open. The door was open, but no one else was in there, and staff was busy cleaning the windows. I didn't notice any posted hours to know for sure, but they pointed us toward an empty table all the same. A friendly waitress soon appeared to take our order. We each ordered breakfast, of a sort. I went for the "Parisien" iteration, whereas my husband got the huge Continental breakfast. I think this is an instance where a picture really is worth a thousand words, but suffice it to say that both of our breakfasts were surprisingly good, and not a bad value, either! Stopping in here for breakfast wound up being a happy surprise. After my experience, I can now suggest going to Cafe Panis for breakfast, even on purpose.

Cappuccino

Very lovely place for crepes, croissants, cappuccino and hot chocolate. Charming people. Delicious food.

Very average food if you are vegetarian. The service happens at their own pace, which is super relaxed. They ll get to you eventually, even when the restaurant is not too busy haha

Cappuccino and scrumptious cookie with a basket of croissants in the background! All very good!

I started with the free-range eggs with mayo, and my wife started with the leeks with vinaigrette. The eggs were delicious, but the leeks may have been the best preparation I've ever had in my life. For our main courses, she had the egg muffin, and I had the sausage and mash. Our meal was superb. Whoever is in the kitchen has clearly learned the art of French cuisine well. I drank a French hard cider while I gobbled up my meal, which also was new for me and tasted great after I was done my meal. Luke brought me a shot with rum and some other ingredients, including lemon that definitely hit the spot after a good meal.I recommend Brasserie Belanger for anyone near GDN Train Station that enjoys great food and patio dining. We were later offered a high-top table, but I explained that I had recently undergone knee surgery and could not sit comfortably at a high-top. The manager's response was simply that it was the only option available, and she walked away. We were told the preferred tables were reserved. When I asked if we could make a reservation for one of those tables, I was told no because the restaurant had just reopened. The entire interaction left us feeling unwelcome. A customer sitting at the bar even commented that he believed we were being treated differently and said it appeared the restaurant did not want us there. After waiting more than two hours just for the restaurant to reopen, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. The poor communication, lack of accommodation, and overall service were unacceptable. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

We headed to Chez Janou, a Paris institution. I hadn't been in years, but my son insisted we go back because, according to him, they have the best chocolate mousse in Paris. Judging by the lineup, half the city; and every tourist with an Instagram account showed up. Thankfully we had a 2pm reso. Here's the thing, though. Everyone talks about the mousse, but the food deserves just as much attention. I'd also forgotten how much I love the 3rd arrondissement. Wander a few minutes from the restaurant and you'll find beautiful art galleries, a gorgeous little park, and some of the best boutique shopping in Paris. It's one of those neighbourhoods where you accidentally walk 15,000 steps without realizing it. Now, here's your game plan. Start with the escargots or the gambas to share. For your main, order the farci provençal or the foie de veau. The farci is like a French version of a stuffed pepper: yummy comfort food with a southern coast twist. As for the foie de veau... I actually ordered it by mistake. I thought I was getting regular veal. Out came veal liver. Best mistake of the day. I love liver. My mom makes an incredible liver and onions, so I'm a tough judge. This was outstanding. Rich, buttery, perfectly cooked and perfectly salted. It was so good I immediately texted my mom and told her she's coming here the next time she's in Paris. Drum roll, please... The chocolate mousse. Was it worth all the hype? Yep. There are no fancy swirls or little artistic desserts here. A server simply walks over carrying what looks like a white industrial-sized bowl of chocolate mousse and casually drops a mountain of it onto your plate. Everyone grabs a spoon and starts digging in. It's wonderfully French. Simple. Unpretentious. Ridiculously good. So yes, Chez Janou lives up to the hype. But don't just come for the mousse. Come for the lunch, stay for the neighbourhood, and spend the afternoon getting happily lost in one of the best corners of Paris. That's a Friday well spent.
