    Manager sat is either a smile and jokes and both she and our waiter were charming! Great espresso martinis, steak dinner and chocolate lava cake dessert. Still thinking about the amazing vinaigrette on the small side salad that accompanied the perfect steak and french fries. Relaxing with a hint of a park view and plenty of people watching. Would go back in a heartbeat.

    And we went back! Even better than I remembered. My husband's Croque Jambon with 3 Cheeses was perfection. He got the "frites supplement" 1€ 50 extra. The sandwich also came with a lovely fresh bit of salad. I had the Salade Aveyronnaise, which was AMAZING. Fresh greens tossed in a lovely vinaigrette, with toasted walnuts, chunks of pear, halved cherry tomatoes, a dizzyingly huge wedge of Roquefort, and many slices of a hearty prosciutto-style ham. OMG. Just OMG. Lovely service, still the same delightful space - huzzah! The bill as €44.50 for Perrier, a large red wine, and the aforementioned sandwich and salad. Really good value for money IMHO.

    Our first spot to eat and this is where we landed around the corner from our air b&b. This spot is a small, nice, cozy spot. You have your choice eating inside upstairs or outside on the patios. France is exactly what you think, drinking your coffee people watching and if you're with a group good conversation and a city kind of relaxation. We sat on the second floor, small tables, so don't expect space up there. So what did we get? Pretty simple, but the thought of a small lunch did not happen. We started off with a charcuterie board and it was huge. Coming from the US I was thinking probably half the amount. When that board came out I was super excited. I forgot to take a picture, but believe me if you're looking for something to snack on while just relaxing, this is what you should get. The duck came with 4 breasts, and it was well seasoned as expected. The tartare was pretty amazing as well plenty of flavor. There was actually no negative side that I saw, and I felt out of all the meals that I had in Paris, this one was a definite memorable one. If you're looking for a place to eat, put this one on your list.

    Why 3 stars? Because it just felt pricey and unmemorable. --- --- --- We came here before noon, and found out that the only item available at that time was the croque monsieur, which is basically melted cheese on bread. We happily ordered two because we were hungry. They were small and simple, but delicious. Though, I wish we would have known that we could have also ordered a croque madame, which consisted of an egg on top of the cheese. I also enjoyed my latte - it was not sweet and full of milk, which is a good thing unless you need your coffee drowning in sugar. As the clock struck noon, we decided that our appetites had subsided a bit, so we just ordered a couple servings of french onion soup. We felt like it was good but not amazing. We had high hopes, considering it was our first time eating french onion soup... in France :) The primary reason for the 3-star rating is that our bill ended up at 53 Euros. For 2 slices of bread with cheese, 2 french onion soups and a latte. Definitely a high price to pay for appetizers and coffee!

    This is as French as it gets. Jazz music in the background. A waiter named Aris. A beautiful woman sitting across from me. A glass of Bordeaux. French fry's. The steak needed tenderizing. A bit chewy. Overall a positive dining experience. Yes, I recommend this French restaurant.

    Onion soups

    Very kind to American tourists. Great location great service and great food. Authentic French vibe that doesn't seem like a tourist trap while still being across the Luxembourg Garden.

    It was perfect for what we were looking for (hearty, filling meal for a decent price). We were starving after touching down in Paris and wandered in after Googling good places to eat. The atmosphere inside is great. There's seating outside for what looked like small parties (~2 people) to relax, grab a drink and some food. We chose to sit inside since it was a little cold. The inside has interesting and cozy design, with 2 levels, wooden furniture, and plush benches in an area. I ordered the beef tartare and it was very satisfying. Came with fries and salad for only 17 euros. I also shared the French onion soup (very shareable), it was ok and a little salty. Not very cheesy, which I personally enjoyed. I would get the tartare again, but skip on the soup. The duck and croque madame my friends got were great. Desserts were DELICIOUS and good value. In an area with tourist traps, this is not one of them! Tons of locals frequenting too, and good food for fair price.

    Au Petit Suisse is one of Paris' oldest brasseries, first opened in 1791. That's right, it has stood on this same corner for almost 225 years! This little place is a gem, with great food in large portions, a great location directly across from the Jardin du Luxembourg, and good prices for Paris. I has a scrumptious omelette with ham and onions that came with a big green salad (€8.8). This was big and filling and full of flavor. The omelette was fluffy and the ham (really more like bacon) tender albeit a little fatty. But the overall omelette was great. The reason that I ordered this was because I had seen it upon entering the restaurant on another diner's plate. It just looked so good! Of course, being a brasserie, they have a very nice selection of beers and French wines. I had a very nice glass of rouge (red) for €6 - cannot remember the details. Anyway, I highly recommend Au Petit Suisse. It's an easy and friendly stop!

However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. I ate one chorizo chunk and pushed the rest aside. The scallops were cooked perfectly but not seasoned. The service was gruff/quite brief with dishes dropped by assistants. My biggest complaint was the stressful ambiance during the meal. It was freezing outside. The door constantly opened and new patrons came in hovering over diners in my room. Luckily I was not closer to the door and didn't have anyone over me. For ~170 Euros, the food was good but the experience was not.

It was only after I ate at Le Potager did I see it had a bunch of great reviews on Yelp. It's definitely earned all those stars.
