Visited this coffee joint after our little shop across the street and must say costumer service is RUDE AF! I ordered a macchiato expresso and he told me in a very rude tone it's not like Starbucks ( I get it) I'm like I want coffee and I ask him what he recommends since where not from in town and flat out told me "why???? you don't have coffee from where you from?" Yes I'm pretty friendly and I try to hold convos Over the counter but this dude didn't even gave us a chance just flat out rude AF, I'm like wtf! Rude. I came there to try their coffee order but it was so upsetting he didn't even make it right who knows at this point just ruined a good vibe coffee moment with his rude as self I ended up throwing it away. And if you hate your job so much that all the Bullshit you complain we can over hear it on the other side of the counter QUIT and move on to something other than making coffee. Love my lattes but not like this. Never recommending and never coming back. I hope your not the manager at this location (older fella, silver long hair). read more

Eh, it's okay, but not my cup of tea (or coffee). The lines are long, but they do move quickly. The atmosphere is a little cheesy and over the top. The back wall is covered with old history and philosophy books that are clearly not meant for actual reading. It's an English company with Italian coffee names and French pastry names (Should I state my order as "caffè latte avec pain au chocolate" or "caffè latte con pain au chocolate"!? So disorienting!) The lattes are served a hair over lukewarm and with way too much foam (how they even manage that, I don't know). I usually nurse my coffee for the first hour or two of work, but when I go to Nero the coffee is usually cold and there's not much left by the time I walk into the office. My brain just has a hard time treating half a cup of lukewarm coffee as a "sipping drink" and I know it's going to get cold fast, so... eh, might as well just finish it and throw away the cup. Pastries aren't heated up. Sure, not every pastry needs to be heated, but if you're paying $10 for a latte and the aforementioned pain au chocolate, it's nice if the chocolate is a little melty. It's okay. I would heartily recommend it for a job interview situation where you need a classy place to sit and the interviewer is paying. Sometimes I forget that I don't really like it, and I stop by in the morning before work again, so it can't be all THAT bad. It's just not "good." read more

Eh not really impressed. Seems like a fancier Starbucks. Pastries did look yummy but the iced tea was very over priced and wasn't large at all. Maybe for coffee this is a good spot but I wasn't impressed with my iced tea. Everything looked cute so I'm willing to try it again at a later time! Stopped by while shopping at Assembly Row. Ordered a almond milk cappuccino, and an almond biscotti on the side. The cappuccino was pretty basic, not memorable. Almond biscotti was just ok. The inside has a cool atmosphere, but coffee-wise I'll stick to Starbucks. read more

I am just at loss explaining why there is no bike rack around this place. I had to cross the street to find one. Also, I waited way too long for just a black drip coffee. The barista was not too nice either. First, he did not ask if it was for here or to go (I hate disposable cups and this place has regular mugs). Second, when the coffee was ready, he did not even bother handing it to me - I had to reach over to get it. This place is good for working, however. Plenty of comfortable chairs, the ambient music is just at the right level. Don't plan on working here for more than 3 hours on a WiFi though as it is restricted to that length (this is so ridiculous). read more

Cafe Nero has a cool concept for their stores with library / rustic feels with their decor. This particular store since the first time I went in January 2019 I noticed flies all around the pastries that are left open. I thought to give them another chance last week and noticed the flies have gotten worse and they are on all the food that sits out on the counter, by the coffee machines and the busses buckets where the sugar station is. I asked the man behind the counter why are there so many flies and the gentleman said because we can't kill them. Seemed like a poor response. I left pretty disgusted with the place. Went here for the first time to get some hot chocolate on this very cold Saturday. I received watered down not hot chocolate. I tried to call but got no answer. I then walked back over there with my watered down not hot chocolate to ask for another one and was rudely told if you dont like the first one you won't like the second one. This is worse customer service from a coffee shop that I have ever received. There is no need to be rude about hot chocolate. The only one that deserved to be rude was me and all I was asking for was for them to fix it. In the end I walked out with the same watered down not hot chocolate that I originally paid for. Meh. Food was fine but the place was a mess. I feel bad for the two guys working as one seemed to be training the other and it was a bit busy so I know they were both probably pretty stressed. That being said, basic cleanliness wasn't there. There were stains all over the counter, the filters, cups, etc were all over the place, and the AC unit was leaking so much they had two dish trays under it. Management needs to step in and actually do their job otherwise the poor guys behind the counter will get the backlash. Also, not sure how sanitary it is to put unwrapped muffins in an open-air basket. Based on the state of the rest of the work space, I don't want to imagine the last time it was cleaned.. I've been to this location a few times and also the one in Central Square Cambridge. This location once is brand new it's nice and bright in there lots of windows on a sunny day it warms place up sometimes if your in back by fireplace type thing you get extremely hot. As for coffee I'm a simple double espresso black kinda guy and it was perfect nice and hot nice head on it. My wife drinks iced latte's with skim milk and she liked hers so for coffee I'd say 4.5. I've only had pastries at this location once the cheesecake and another time mile high chocolate cake both were very good but portions are tiny 3.5 based on size and value quality was great just not enough for me anyway I'd have to order 2 next time so maybe I'm just a glutton or they are small someone please let me know. As for sandwiches my wife got the tuna and was very satisfied so not a bad stop especially for the coffee and sandwiches and if your hungry for pastries I'd order 2 read more

I love Caffe Nero. The building itself is gorgeous and so is the decor inside and out. There is a lot of outdoor seating which will be nice once it gets warmer again. Inside there is a good amount of seating as well. They have comfy chairs and a fireplace in the back. The coffee is great and i haven't tried any food yet but it looks delicious. My only qualm is that the temperate is very finicky. Yesterday I came in with a sweatshirt and down vest and striped down to my t-shirt because i was sweating and today I'm in a sweatshirt freezing to the point i can't concentrate. one last note: I was here on Monday 10/30 and an employee told me they were closing in 10 minutes ( it was 8:50pm) but the Caffe Nero website, Assembly Row Website and Yelp website all say that they close at 9:30..... read more

I was at The Cafe Nero @ Assembly Row this afternoon first time there probably won't go back. I only ordered coffee it was barely hot. When I went to the area to put cream in my coffee dirty dishes were piled up in a bucket. Small fruit flies were also present. The counter was also dirty hadn't been wiped . Employees were completely overwhelmed and no one employee wore gloves while handling the food. The cafe had a full crowd mostly those taking up tables with their laptops . Perhaps hiring additional staff for the weekend crowds may help and training on cleaning. read more

Pretty awesome especially if your traveling. I was in the area for a work conference and they were across the street. I had lunch there twice and multiple drinks. Fast and friendly service, which is so nice where your away from home. Food was delicious, with lots of options without being overwhelming. Same can be said for the beverage menu. I highly recommend the veggie breakfast sandwiches and the frappe's (so good!) Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for singles or groups. read more

I had a gift card to Caffe Nero so I figured I might as well grab a latte and check them out. First of all, the menu is kind of confusing. It takes up the entire wall but when you are in line waiting to order you can't see half of the menu. The lattes only come in one size, which is fine, but I found it odd that they asked me what I size I wanted and then told me I could only get the size they offered. I ordered an ice mocha but there was hardly any mocha flavoring. I was at Cafe Nero tonight and had a terrible experience. I only got a cup of tea because the place was loaded with fruit flies. They have probably had this problem for a while as other reviews mentioned it. You would think they would call a good exterminator. Went to them a few times and order the same drink ice mocha. Each time I went there, I tested out to see if I get charge the same price, but I don't. It varies from 3.50-4.50 I do not know why, maybe the people are confused or don't remember on what to input in the system. I know this place is new, but be mindful to not overcharge customers for a drink. I'll come back in a few months or maybe not. read more

He simply could've told me that they ran out of something but instead, he blatantly says no you can't have it. Also, he needed to repeat our order 3-4x before he got it right and said "don't yell at me!" I wouldn't have to if you remembered our order the first time. Maybe writing it down would help... after asking us if it's for here or to go, I answered for here. He actually told me "you're never going to find a seat here" so why did you ask me!? My family and I were excited about checking Caffe Nero out after a stay in the hotel across the street. The menu looked great. We walked in and ordered our coffees, the iced mocha was delicious. Our young daughter got a yogurt parfait, which she enjoyed. My husband and I asked for egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches and we were met with an unfriendly blank stare. The girl at the counter told us they only had them with bacon. We asked if she minded making a couple without and she said no. It seems as if they make a pile at night and don't utilize the prep table behind the counter to make anything to go. If I was in a jam, I would certainly enjoy a coffee from Cafe Nero but that's about it. read more

Love coming to Cafe Nero to work and get coffee and a croissant. You can usually find seating if you're patient and the Assembly square location is great- right next to the T. Only cons are that you have to be careful when ordering food that isn't covered or behind glass- the baked good are usually swarming with flies. It's also always uncomfortably chilly here year round (though that could be my personal preference). read more

I came here last week to grab a coffee and definitely wasn't that impressed. The interior is decorated well and looks like a cute hangout spot. However, the service was a little off and lacking. I ordered a white chocolate mocha and the girl just sort of paused and looked at me. She then said "Sorry, I'm just trying to remember if I know how to do that.... Okay, yeah I can make that." She asked me what size I wanted and I said small. She turns around to make my coffee and the other girl working asks her why she's making a small. She tells her because that's what I wanted so that's what she's making. The other girl says that they only make white chocolate mochas in a size large. The girl making my coffee says "Well she wanted small so that's what I'm making." The other girl then explains how I'll still be paying for a large so she should probably just make a large. Mind you, I'm standing right there and can hear this entire conversation. I only said I wanted a small because she asked what size when I ordered so I thought there was a choice? At this point I just spoke up and asked if I could just get whatever size I was paying for. The girl who was making my coffee apologized and said "It's not you, it's us." She didn't remake my coffee just poured it into a larger cup and added a ton of foam. All in all it was a very odd experience and I wasn't that impressed by the coffee or service. I'm giving it 3 stars because it definitely has potential but I think they'll really have to step it up as there's also a Starbucks at Assembly. read more

December 7th. I entered Caffe Nero and followed the sign to where it indicated the line should be. I waited there for about 5 minutes while people who walked in and went straight to the registers AFTER I was in line were waited on. I figured I was wrong, so I relocated to the other end. The man working there explained to the woman in front of me how the line was supposed to work (where I was originally standing) and, after helping her, went directly to help someone who had just walked in and was standing in the right spot. I thought the woman working would come to me after she finished the order she was working on, but apparently she needed to urgently straighten a stack of cups while ignoring me.
