    Pineapple upside down cake
    Jacob C.

Really excellent neighborhood Hawaiian/poke restaurant. The food is excellent and while the menu is relatively limited, there are lots of options to mix and match with proteins and sides. The chili BBQ salmon was especially tasty and the pineapple upside down cake was moist and delicious! Staff is friendly and service is fast. Good for casual eat-in or takeout. Hours are limited so check before you go. I highly recommend!

Delicious and fresh fish! Definitely some of the best poke to get around the Boston area. The shop is very cute inside, but there is not a lot of seating. I went shortly after opening and received my food very quickly.

My buddy who I work with in Los Angeles hyped this place up and told me I had to stop by while visiting Boston and I'm glad he did! I was also impressed that when I told the gentleman in front who sent me, he knew who I was talking about. That shows me that they care about their relationships with their customers which is awesome. Back to the food, wow. The fish was noticeably fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite I took. Wish I was hungrier when I stopped by so I could grub more. I got the fish of the day which was shoyu yellow fin tuna and the spicy tuna. Great combo!! Will definitely come by here next time I'm around .

Manoa Poke - Somerville, MA 300 Beacon St, Somerville, MA 02143 If you're craving authentic Hawaiian poke, Manoa Poke is where it's at! We tried their Mix Plate which comes with fluffy white rice , creamy mac salad , crunchy kimchi cucumbers , and your choice of two proteins--we went with spicy tuna and salmon. Both were solid, but the real winner? SALMON BELLY Coated in the most addicting teriyaki sauce , it was sweet, savory, and absolutely melt-in-your-mouth. I don't even like salmon usually, but this blew me away. 10/10 would order again (and again ). We also tried the Kalua Pig --tender pulled pork shoulder slow-cooked to perfection, served with their housemade yaki sauce. It's juicy, flavorful, and a must-try for anyone who's not big on seafood. Dessert time! We finished with their Mango Cake--a spongey, tropical dream. The real MVP? That fluffy, flavorful frosting. Can't wait to come back and try the pineapple version! Heads up: This place gets busy even right at opening (3PM!) and some things sell out fast, so get there early! ‍ Food: 9/10 Ambiance: Grab-and-go vibes, not really a dine-in hangout. Affordability: 5/10 - Definitely a treat yo'self kinda meal but you're paying for quality and real island flavor

If you live in the Boston area, you know good poke is hard to come by.. that is UNTIL you hear about Manoa! Open Wed-Sat for dine-in, take-out, and online ordering, Manoa treats you like family as serving you FRESH, authentic Hawaiian poke by the pound, flavorful protein options (Kalua pork or Mochiko fried chicken), regular poke specials, and more‼ Follow for their special announcements: @manoapoke The mixplates are a great option because you can choose TWO different poke/protein options and it comes with two scoops of rice, a scoop of their garlic aioli mac salad (SO ADDICTING), kimchee cucumbers, and a mixed veggie salad! My go to poke option has always been the ahi shoyu, but a fan favorite has been the scallop oka which has a spicy coconut flavor that pairs well with the scallop's fresh, bouncy texture! The chili BBQ salmon was super surprising and addicting to eat because the carmelized flavors of the chili BBQ paired so well with the salmon belly, and it all just melted in your mouth (SO GOOD) ‼ Also worth mentioning that I loved the guava cake, pineapple cake, and garlic shrimp too (i am a big garlic lover)! Highly recommend @manoapoke as the best in the greater Boston area for best texture and flavored poke‼

Mixed plate - poke and mochiko fried chicken

Cute spot that plays Hawaiian ukelele music to pair with your dine-in meal! My friend and I got mixed plates. The mochiko friend chicken was seasoned well. While relatively crispy on the outside, it did have some batter in the inside that was a bit more clumpy. I really enjoyed the spicy tuna poke though! Servers were also friendly. Glad we tried this spot!

Best poke I've tried in the area! I ordered the spicy tuna and spicy salmon mix plate - both were so fresh and delicious! I love how it comes with big portions and sides. The mac salad was amazing and I wish I ordered more of it! I also ordered a guava cake and it was a super yummy dessert topped with an amazing cream cheese frosting. Definitely check this spot out if you're in the area.

    1/2 pound bluefin tuna poke

What a fantastic local poke shop by Porter Square! They sell fresh, delicious poke by the half pound along with sides à la carte or combo plates/rice bowls. We got there at 7pm on a Friday night and the place was packed, but the line moved quickly and we were able to get our food pretty quickly. They serve their food in takeout bags, but they have indoor cafeteria/picnic table-style seating and self-serve ice water and utensils for those who want to dine in. Of what we got: 1/2 pound bluefin tuna poke special: a perfect portion for dinner. I normally prefer sashimi in order to fully enjoy the taste of the fish, but the flavors they added did not overpower the tuna's natural taste. Would recommend. Side salad: the perfect portion to have with half a pound of poke! It was light, refreshing, and filled with pickled onions and carrots for the perfect sour taste. Would recommend. Spicy bluefin tuna mixplate special: the bluefin meat came tartare-style rather than as poke chunks, and that make it easier to mix it in with the rice. The flavors here were also delicious (came with pickled onions, nori, and a runny egg yolk), but you get less fish than when ordering poke by itself. I personally preferred ordering poke and sides myself, but would recommend this option if you prefer a pre-determined combo plate. Kimchi cucumbers: this was executed well, but not a necessary addition to our dinner. Would recommend if you're really in the mood for kimchi cucumbers. Would skip otherwise. Overall, this is a lovely neighborhood spot with employees who are nice and passionate about their food (we got the bluefin tuna specials on the cashier's recommendation). I would come back to try their other options such as the kalua pig and salmon poke!

What a hidden gem! I've never been to Hawaii, but if this shop is an ounce of the island experience, I'm packing my bags and hopping onto the next flight! The shop has relaxed vibes and beautiful murals decorating the wall. I was greeted by the nicest and friendliest host ever. I wanted to order everything off the menu and he gladly shared some local favorites! I ordered a mixed plate which comes with choice 2 scoops of protein (salmon shoyu and BBQ salmon belly), macaroni salad, kimchee cucumbers, rice, and salad. I ordered a mini mix which comes with choice 2 scoops of protein (spicy salmon and salmon oka) and rice only. I also got the Manoa Dip with wonton chips and Crab Macaroni Salad. Everything was fantastic! As a first time customer, I also received free samples of their guava and pineapple cake too! I literally dream of my next visit. I'm redoing my order and adding fried chicken too!

HOW DO I GIVE THIS PLACE 6 STARS BECAUSE IT BLEW ME AWAY!!! This is the BEST poke I have ever had. Hands DOWN. I cannot stress enough how delicious the poke is. I was already so excited to come here because Boston barely has any poke spots. But I was FLOOOORED. Every fish was so fresh. The texture was ridiculous. The flavors immaculate. The vibes? the price?? also immaculate. We legit tried every single fish and our group consensus was that the soy ahi tuna was the best. I also loved the salmon. The pieces were HUGE and perfectly chewy. You know the fish is so fresh if it has a bounce to it. The spicy tuna and salmon were also both amazing and actually had flavor. It wasn't just the cheap parts of the fish that were ground up. You actually had real pieces of fish in there. The only poke I didn't love was the coconut one, but only because I don't love coconut, but that's my personal preference! If you do like coconut flavors then you'd love it. We also got the fried chicken, glazed salmon, and pineapple and guava desserts. The fried chicken itself isn't crazy but the hot honey with it??? Another level. The cooked salmon was good, but again just simple. Both desserts were a good level of sweet, the bread was dense like a cake. This is definitely one of my top favorite restaurants in the Boston area (it's in Somerville). It's also super affordable and great prices. It's about $24 for a combo platter with two fishes and two sides. I will go there again ASAP because wow. This is such an authentic spot and the owner is the kindest person ever. Go support them now!!!

Manoa is fantastic. Fish is fresh and plentiful portions. We tried all the poke options and all were yummy. Kimchi cukes were fantastic. Folks running the place were friendly and the service was great. Small place, we got lucky and found a table for five. Mac salad made me think of a Garbage Plate in Rochester. They told me one of the chefs is from Roch!

Everything on the menu sounded so good it was so hard to decide but after my first visit, I don't think any choice would disappoint! Food: The mix plate was a fantastic meal! I settled on trying the Salmon Shoyu and the mochiko fried chicken. The chicken was crispy and the salmon was tender pairing great with the mac salad and pickles. Service & Atmosphere: The shop oozed hospitality and kindness. Seeing the employees and the dine in customers enjoying working and eating just brightened my day!

Stepping into this poke shop transports you out of the northeast. If you're looking for a bit of a getaway, this poke shop is filled with warmth & yummy food. I love the mochiko chicken & the shoyu salmon. The chicken is hot and crispy every time! And the cubes of fish look like gemstones. Definitely save room for the guava & pineapple cakes; you won't be disappointed. My only complaint is that I don't live next door. Staffed with the friendliest people as well.
