I've gotten poke from here a couple times now and I'm never disappointed! I usually build my own bowl and the fish is very fresh and in good sized-chunks. They have a good variety of toppings too. The first time I came in here I was having trouble deciding which sauce to get and the guy working the counter let me taste spoonfuls of them (so they go above and beyond). I stumbled upon ONO Pokebar by chance. I literally drove across town and stopped at 3 other poke restaurants around 8pm this past Saturday before I came to ONO Pokebar because they were the only one still open! ONO has some pretty decent poke. They are located downstairs from a ramen restaurant and sorta hidden so be sure not to pass this small, family-owned place up! They have your standard poke ingredients and toppings. They do limit you on the toppings though which is kind of a bummer but that's ok, they don't have that many toppings anyways and 4 is enough. They do charge $1.50 extra for avocado which is a little hefty but they give you a good amount. They charge extra for tobiko (fish eggs) as well but they give you a nice-sized scoop and overall our poke bowls were pretty affordable. The staff here is nice and they gave big scoops of tuna and salmon in my bowl. They have some preset bowls on their menu but you can build your own as well. I liked my bowl - all the ingredients were super fresh and pretty good quality with a sufficient range of sauces, toppings, and add-ons to customize my bowl as I liked. read more

We ordered take out from here twice. The poke bowls are so fresh and yummy! The quantity is plenty and quality is very high. My favorite bowl to order so far is the One Special Bowl. But, I also highly recommend the build a bowl option too. Some toppings I recommend are furikake and onion crisps. One thing to note though is that Ono Pokebar uses a lot of sauce in their bowls. I wasn't overly impressed by the poke from this spot. The bowls were pretty small compared to what I've gotten from other places. The toppings were great, but I wish they gave more of the actual protein. The spicy salmon was a bit odd to me - the fish was mushed up, not cut into chunks like salmon poke usually is. It almost felt like the consistency of tuna salad you would put on bread. I would recommend Pokeworks or one of the other poke places that give more/allow for free unlimited toppings. read more

Pretty good bowls here! They have an assortment of premade poke bowls that you have made to order and they have a build your own bowl option where you can customize every part of the bowl. Additionally, they have braised beef bowls that you can select multiple slices of meat from a list. We got the Ahi Tuna bowl and the portion was plenty and reasonably priced compared to other poke places in the area. The ingredients were fresh too! For the braised beef bowl, I got the soy braised eggs, tripe, and the standard slices of beef. It was a bit salty but everything was super tender and flavorful. We were looking through our Hawaii trip photos from a few years ago, and suddenly needed poké - right away! Fortunately, ordering from Ono online was simple, and our order was ready for pick-up in a quick 20 minutes. I checked in on Yelp upon arrival and was pleased to see a 10% discount on your order! I presented this to the staff member, who was happy to honor it. The drinks we ordered (jasmine fruit tea and mango smoothie) had been kept in the fridge until pick-up, so they were nice and cold and perfect to drink right away! Since Ono only has indoor seating, we enjoyed our goods at a nearby park. Both poké bowls - Hawaiian Classic and Ono Special - were packed well and good portions. They both had distinct flavor profiles and everything was fresh and yummy. My personal fave was the Ono Special because that creamy sauce was just dreamy. We devoured our bowls and drinks and were immensely satisfied. I'd return for the mango smoothie with jelly alone! Ono is high quality and will put a smile on your face, even if you're missing Hawaii. :) read more

This has been my favorite poke place since it opened. I love seeing the owners working together - they're always so friendly and helpful. Once after getting caught in the rain, they offered me paper towels to help me dry off. The poke itself is the best in the area for value, quality and consistency. Their fish is ALWAYS fresh and they clearly take pride in their ingredients. I usually get the spicy salmon and spicy tuna. It's chopped into a mush (with tobiko!) and always tasty. I added the salmon, spicy tuna and soft shell crab. Honestly, the soft shell crab was so worth the extra bucks! I've never had that as an option at other poke places and tasted really good in my bowl. As for the portion, it was definitely a good hefty amount! DRINKS: I ordered the mango smoothie. Randomly came across this business scrolling through Ubereats! Very fresh, ample portions. I especially love that they offer zucchini noodles as a base! I made my own bowl with salmon and eel - the eel slices were not as sauced and very fatty. It was unexpected but in a good way, though I'm not sure if that was on purpose or I just got the end pieces. I also got a jasmine grapefruit tea, which had lovely grapefruit pulp in it with great flavor and not too sweet. Will definitely order from this place again. Note, the website says it's pickup only and the restaurant doesn't offer delivery, but I ordered through Ubereats and it was fine. I got the Hawaiian classic - Salmon, Tuna, Seaweed Salad, Mango Salsa, Slice Orange, Scallion, Furikake, Crispy Rice, Hawaiian Classic Sauce. I also added jalapeños. It was delicious - fresh, with large servings of fish. The price is minimally more than pokeworks ($13.45 v $12.85), but nothing to fret over. I will definitely come back again. It's a wonderful addition to Malden! Now I can get my poke fill with my bubble tea fill (it's located in the same store as uptea and a plant shop). read more

Ever since a distant trip to Hawaii, Poke has been such a toss up. It seems like the further you get from the Pacific, the further you depart from the fresh, simple goodness that is poke. Fortunately, ONO really does check all the boxes! I got the signature bowl, and it was a really great dinner. Having tuna, salmon, and shrimp would cost a small fortune at chain poke stores, but here it was affordable and way higher quality than anywhere I've tried in Boston. To top it all off, the folks at ONO are super friendly. They offered me a free fruit tea which was a great way to finish the meal. First, the awesome: in terms of portion size for the $, this is some of the best-value tasty raw fish combinations in the area. Sides are fresh and great selection. I wish I had found this place earlier, instead of just a couple of months before moving out of the neighborhood, because between the mango, pineapple salsa, spicy fish and eel options it is now my go-to. Delivery is also crazy-fast though. That said I've ordered enough times that I have some small comments that would turn this place from a 4 star into 110%. 1) I've ordered delivery where they forgot to include my extra cost sides twice. When you're paying some ridic amount for a slice of avocado or bit of mushroom it should show up! 2) it is confusing/disorienting that the in-store menu says only 4 sides and the only menu is more. I love five or six sides and would be willing for them to be smaller portions than 4, especially when a few are just inexpensive green leaf lettuce, zucchini or cabbage. They def don't cost as much as some if the others! 3) The sushi rice could be more flavorful. Sometimes it tastes just like normal white rice, even though it's still a good texture. The variation is odd. 4) Inside of restaurant is not the most inviting. The teenage gals working the line obviously like hanging out and chatting on their phones at tables in an empty restaurant and act like coming in disturbs them vs being genuinely friendly. Tables/floor not always cleaned despite almost no one sitting down inside. So much goodness, would be wonderful to see it go Ultimate Greatness. read more
