Caffe Luce is a regular stop for me while I'm in town. Not only is it right in the heart of downtown near my hotel, they have a good amount of seating if you need to work/study too. The coffee is great and the staff is friendly. I usually go for a cold brew or an iced almond latte with one of their syrups. Vanilla is good, but I'm a fan of their lavender option as well - it's sweet, but not overly fragrant to the point where it tastes like you're drinking a candle. I haven't had any of their food, but it always looks good when it comes out--next time I'll have to have a snack to see what it's all about. My only complaint is that it can get REALLY warm in there, even on the chilliest of days. So if you're not into heat, your best best bet is to probably take it to-go, especially during the summer months. read more

Sad to say what once was a great place to call my escape each week has now become a disappointment. Not so friendly staff other than my one favorite baker that I don't get to see much anymore. We needed a place to study and eat and I'm so glad we came here! The food was delicious and as was the drinks! I didn't know what to get so I asked for the barista what she recommended. She served me an iced americano with Azteca spices and almond milk. I really liked it and appreciated how friendly and open she was as I asked so many questions while she made my drink. My friend ordered the hibiscus and it was so strong and flowery, very yum. Almost as if it was brewed cold? It was a generally clean space and many spaces for people to do work. Strangely, the reviews from Sparkroot remained in this business page- even though its an entirely new operator with different coffee product. The layout remains the same- with plenty of space to get work done. The coffee is a-ok. A little on the darker side. A small food menu still available too. With all the coffee shops in the downtown area, Caffee Luce is not always on my radar. But glad I stopped in. Convenient for visitors to grab a coffee best their hotel. read more

What a fine, fine way to relax and chill out during Second Saturdays Downtown. This will most definitely be a favorite hangout spot when enjoying the SSD festivities or just working on photographing the city. Congress Street and the streetcar construction activity make for some terrific people-watching times and this place is a perfect vantage point. Very comfy and relaxing place to just be. I saw numerous folks just sitting reading their Kindles, surfing on their computers, and reading the many magazines laying about. No one is in a hurry here. The Food: I had a panini sandwich with fontina cheese, portobello mushroom, arugula and it was done perfectly. A great taste combo. Lots of beers and wines, homemade soda (no Pepsi here) and coffee to slake your thirst. There's a lovely little upstairs room to enjoy. What more do we need? Downtown is getting better and better and Sparkroot is helping make that happen. read more

If you support racism, by all means come and eat here. They seem to purposely hire obnoxiously rude and racist individuals. Either they watch you like a hawk while you're looking at the awkwardly hidden menu (as if you're about to steal something) and treat you with attitude while you are about to order, or they completely disregard your order and you're there waiting for over 30 minutes. It seems to be based on what you look like too. I've seen the difference in how other customers were treated as opposed to me. The 2 occasions I've eaten here, it's been the same thing. What a great coffee shop. You can either sit by the window and watch people walking by or sneak upstairs where it's a little quieter. But that's just the ambiance. The coffee was really great. Very unpleasant experience with an employee very condescendingly asking me "Are you going to buy something?". I decided to stay and finish up some work after a meeting with an intern. As I'm sitting there finishing up with I'm doing, mind you, there isn't a full coffee shop and plenty of open seating, she asks her question and I explained to her that I paid for the persons coffee. She continued to be rude and shouted across the shop. I felt embarrassed and saddened as I am a regular this place. I take my kids there. I have small meetings there. I came here on a day I took for me... without kids, without friends, and played hooky from work to organize my life. I googled cafes all over Tucson and waS struck by how inviting the space was. I really love Caffe Luce. Their coffee is excellent. It's actually probably my favorite cup of coffee in town. I've tried all of their roasts that they've had when I've stopped in so far, and I've loved them all. I think I liked their medium Colombian the best, though. But I'm splitting hairs here. The location is cool, in a great spot to watch all the action going on downtown. The upstairs area is neat, and probably my favorite place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. I think their prices are fair. I've seen much worse in town, for worse tasting coffee. The employees are helpful and polite. My only gripe is that I wish they had other sweeteners available. I don't really like Splenda or real sugar, so some Equal would be nice. But, it's all good. read more

This is especially true of Caffe Luce, which often runs out of them entirely in the evening. (True at both the downtown and the university main gate locations.) They do have $1 plastic-wrapped biscotti, so I had one of those along with my decaf Aztec mocha. The drink was good, the service lackadaisical. Another thing: coffeehouses are great places to sit and chat, but not so much when you're surrounded by people by themselves on their laptops who can't concentrate because you and your friend are chatting nearby. read more

I brought my work computer and had the perfect creative space to clear my mind. Strolling the Ave last night we came across this place and decided to go in and check it out! We were intrigued by a "coffee and wine" bar! I must say I was impressed! The menu is simple, and reasonably priced, I like the coffee selection, and also really liked the craft alcoholic coffee selections! I went with the house made Sangria, since it was around 6pm, and my hubby had a cold fashioned! Both were very delicious! The sangria tasted to be heavy with the cranberry-which cut the sweetness to a perfect tart refreshing wine drink! Very good. My hubbys drink was always delicious, for a night cap, or something a little different! Cold brew-orange and bourbon! Yum! I liked the cleanliness and the use of the tall space by having a loft for additional seating, and a little view! As well the staff was friendly and very helpful in deciding what to get! The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the comfort of the seating. The chairs are eclectic and play into the vibe of the place, but they really aren't comfortable, and there isn't a spot that would be good for sitting and relaxing and visiting for any period of time. I think it would be awesome to add a couch, or a couple comfy chairs up in the loft area, or downstairs in a corner, for a more intimate space to enjoy a coffee or a drink and people watch. Also-not probably possible due to location and the building-but am outside area/or patio would also me a pretty neat addition! All in all we liked this place and will return! read more
