I really like this place. Very folksy. The food is very good. I mean very good. The French toast is not to be missed. It has a nice little bakery component with great pecan turtles and petit fours. And as traditional breakfast go, I really enjoyed mine. I was with some business associates and I went for the basic breakfast. Whoever thought up cooking grits in heavy cream was a genius. So if you're ever in the near Harahan area out by Elmwood, go by and have yourself a really nice treat. Not to mention the fact that the folks who run this place , and their staff, are actually very friendly. I'm not in that area very often, but when I am, I am going to be sure to eat there. read more

When I lived in Baton Rouge I met my friend here for breakfast and coffee quite often. It's just a great place to sit and chat. Plus the food is superb and the coffee is like baby bears soup: "just right"! Nice little coffee shop, the coffee is good, there are pastries to go, and service is quick. However, it's more of a small cafe that serves hot breakfast / lunch rather than a coffee shop. The place is clean, usually quite a few people in eating breakfast. (I haven't been here for lunch, so that review will have to be someone else.) If you are in for the breakfast, order at the counter and they'll bring it to you. Plenty of free coffee refills while eating. read more

Pleasantly surprised. I got the bacon, egg and cheese breakfast quesadilla. I don't know of very many places that do breakfast quesadillas. You have a choice of grits or home fries as a side. I got the home fries, which were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The quesadilla was very good. The portion was very generous and capable of being split by two. The service was also great. I was a bit worried about eating here since I'm gluten intolerant. I love hole-in-the-wall places but sometimes the chef/cooks don't really know anything about gluten cross contamination. But my group were staring when when got into the New Orleans airport and this place had good reviews on Yelp. It was also reasonably priced. I ordered the spinach and mushroom omelet and the grits. Waited in line for 20 minutes to order then had to wait 45 more minutes for our food to come out. At one point we did ask why it was taking so long for 3 egg breakfasts and they did not say why but that it would be about 10 more minutes. So they probably forgot about our order. Did get free coffee refills and the food was ok once we got it (although by then I was really hungry so would have eaten just about anything). This place never disappoints. The staff is friendly and always ready to serve. The food is delicious and made with love. My French toast were so delicious it's hard to finish them, however, my husband never leaves a man down. He helped finish them after his eggs benedict. You can always get just the right meal. Well, I never leave reviews, but people have to know about this place. Don't ignore the reviews that say the service is terrible, it's true. We went here on a Sunday morning and were seated in a decent amount of time and orders were taken promptly. Fast forward 50 mins later we still had no food and not one employee came to update us on or order. Which was just an omelet and 2 egg breakfast. We made eye contact with every employee that walked by but no one ever stopped. We ended up just leaving and we will never go back. Hope this review saves you some time. read more

Such a delightful find! We were on our way out of NOLA in search of a quick brunchy lunch, when a Google Maps search for a coffee shop produced Cafe Latte Da as a top hit. While one shouldn't judge a cafe by its name, the punster in me couldn't resist this coy, playful name. I'm so glad for it, too! The service was wonderful: smiley patience as two out of town travelers debated too laboriously over the breakfast menu. Gabby, our behind-the-counter server, was helpful in advising us on what to order. Food came out quickly, and in copious portions- enough that some came with us in carry out containers. Order at the counter and have it delivered to your table. Or just wait and carry it to go. We came right at noon but managed to beat the short spurt of a lunch-hour rush that came as we were already eating. The atmosphere is so perfect for a New Orleans breakfast with warm and cozy decor and music that creates just the right mood, especially if you're with that special person. All of this wouldn't amount to much of the food wasn't special - but it is superb! The grits are the best I've ever had and the Cajun Omelet and hash browns were exceptional. Had a nice lunch here the other day. The restaurant is cute and staff is really friendly. The food is fresh and well prepared. Egg salad croissant and chicken soup was great. Club salad was fresh and hamburger was huge and delicious. Definitely will go back to try breakfast soon read more

I love love love this place. If you are looking for a home made breakfast this is a great place to go. Sundays are kind of busy but I like to call in order and pick it up. My favorite thing to order is a sausage egg and cheese biscuit with cheesy grits :) they many other things Ive heard the french toast is awesome. Great breakfast place. Their grits are to die for and are the reason I keep going back there. They've got a good selection of informal dishes, and competitive prices. It's a strange set up. There's nothing hinting at what first time customers are supposed to do. You have to order at the counter, take your number marker, take your drink, remember to take silverware from the basket near the register, get whatever extras you want from the cupboard against the wall opposite the register, then go find a place to sit. The young man at the register seemed impassive and unresponsive the first few times I was there, but as he got to recognize me he now smiles and seems much friendlier. I've never found the wait for food to be excessive, and food has always been hot. The staff circulate and will bring you something if you need it, and will refill drinks. The staff are good, if busy, especially on Sat/Sun mornings. There is a very strong repeat crowd and the owners know many of the customers. It's a very warm, kindly place. But the grits, OMG! They are so creamy, so flavorful! I'm sure they have a ton of butter in them, but they're the best grits I've ever had, and my arteries will die happy. I overheard someone raving about the hamburger and tried it for lunch once. It was good, but not as good as I expected from the rave review. Just shows people like different things. read more

Terrible customer service, appalled by the way customers were treated. Interior of the dining room was dark and not very clean. Owner of the facility was very rude and yelling at the customers. My guest had over five grand in cash in his pocket and was treated like a homeless person. Waitress was wearing ill fitting dirty clothing and was absolutely no position to judge others. Went to breakfast this morning at 8:30 to ensure I'd get a Dong Phong king cake. I called the restaurant earlier in the week and they suggested the plan to ensure a king cake. We let the young waiter know our plan and he told us to wait for the truck and we would get two per person. We closed our ticket only to find out the owner sold all the king cakes. Found this place on Yelp. It was just a short walk from where I was. The atmosphere is good. It feels and looks very much like a coffee shop which it does have. The staff were very nice. I came in for lunch and ordered the Focaccia Club Sandwich (Grilled Chicken, Ham, Apple Smoked Bacon, Cheddar, Swiss, Lettuce, Tomato) with fries and a Dr Pepper. Very tasty! Not full service. The "side room" where half their tables are located looks like it came from a hospital. You wait in line to place your order with a last minute menu put in your hand. Then if you happen to get a coffee and water you're expected to carry that and your silverware and your creamer and sugar to the table. Very long wait food at other tables looks to be ok.
