I've been around long enough to remember when this place offered wine & coffee... as a PJs. No lie. Go to the research. But here I am today, December 2025 sitting to do some light work, enjoying a Birthday Shake in 50 degree weather... I know not the smartest thing to do but hey a girl wants what she wants when she wants it right? So I stopped in after work for a quick online meeting and have been posted up ever since. I think they close at 7 PM. Definitely enjoying my birthday shake and just taking a minute to take a load off. Bounce back from a hectic day. I love the environment. Most of the seating is booth seats. Therefore, you can be comfortable and you can stretch out and enjoy yourself and relax with a friend or even by yourself. If you don't want to sit in the booth, you can sit at the wood table with two chairs for a more intimate setting. I utilize the app most time when purchasing something here because I'm pretty much always on the go. I love that. I love the option order ahead, access the drive-through or walk up, come on in and pick up your drink at the end of the counter where it says mobile pick up. (Just look up) Haven't had much staff interaction however there's a brunette with curly hair that's most often in the driveway in the morning. She's very friendly and customer friendly. I found pricing to be fair. The free Wi-Fi is not so free. You actually have to purchase something to get the code from Free WiFi, but I get it. Nobody wants anybody just sitting around using their Wi-Fi. It's all about the bandwidth baby. Lol. So make sure when you come in, you order ahead or mosey on up to the register and place a sit down, enter your WiFi code into your browser and be productive. Oh, I forgot to mention there are other drinks that you can purchase that are not coffee or tea based. They are energy drinks. There is orange juice, apple juice, as well as there are things for you to nosh on like Hubig's pie, cookies, brownies, avocado toast, cake pops and the like. Last thing I forgot to mention is there are benefits to your purchases. The more purchases you accumulate the more reward points you get and the more free stuff that you can redeem with those points. This PJs gets 5 stars because they had exactly what I was looking for, Caluda's King Cake. I had already gone to two or three places that were sold out, when I was reminded that PJs carries Caluda's. Upon arrival, I was so grateful to see a table with 2 options- traditional and cream cheese. I got one of each. I have a lot of family in town so I wanted to make sure everyone could have a couple slices. They were both soooo good. My only king cakes of the season. I've gone to this location about 5x due to relocation of my job. There's an elderly lady with blondish/brown hair who does not make my white chocolate latte correct & she's rude. Doesn't greet customers when entering the building. It taste like hot milk. There's another young lady with black hair who makes it perfect & very friendly. I have made a choice to not visit this location again. I'm wasting money for hot milk when I can make it at home if that's what I want. read more

I went through the drive-through, so I could not comment on the ambiance, but the outside was pleasant enough. The girl at the takeout window was extremely pleasant and friendly. I had an iced chicory coffee, which I thought was very good. The total cost for a medium-sized coffee before the tip was just under five dollars. New Orleans, Louisiana is known for their chicory and this was an enjoyable cup of coffee. It was a featured flavor, so I do not know how much longer it will be available, but I would definitely recommend trying it out. read more

Staff is nice. This location is a price gouger. Extra large iced coffee is over $10 here compared with just over $6 at other locations. Found out that this location is privately owned and others are corporately owned. Also, must have app to get points - won't take a phone number. Was there were a lot of signs in there telling people what to do - Jane here, walk here. We do this we don't do that. Probably the least customer focused location. I've been to you. The baristas do not need to ask if your customer would like to leave a tip. Post something on your lovely drive-through window, " if you would like to leave a tip please let your server know" or have a receipt option to where a customer can add it, By choice. there are several ways to not have it be so tacky and akward. when I spoke to the window barista this morning, they really shouldn't ask to receive a tip. She talked over me, ignored me and did not acknowledge that I even spoke a word, making it even more awkward and bizarre read more

Once upon a time one of the uptown PJs was my go to spot for hanging with friends, studying, having a tea, whatnot. But then the business was sold and all the PJs lost their 70s hippiesh roots and became corporate. This PJs is a perfect example of a strip mall corporate shop. The good - it's really spacious. There is plenty of parking. I've never had discourteous service. It has outdoor seating. The OK - the tea selection is just OK, mostly because I remember what it used to be. It always seems to need a good scrub. The smokers who use the outdoor seating don't clean up after themselves, yuck. So if you're needing to feed the caffeine jones, this is a fine place to stop. I have supported PJ's for about 16+ years and have never experience such bad customer service!! I ordered a breakfast sandwich and the middle of my sandwich was cold so i asked kindly could they please warm up my sandwich and the manager here literally told me that the owner was to cheap to buy a better toaster so go warm it myself. I asked her can she please warm the sandwich again and she gave me a look like im bothering her and then asked me am I tipping her and I said "I did already" then she said I want a tip for doing this I said I'm not tipping you for something that wasn't right in the first place. Sometimes the staff can be jerks but guess what? You are in the armpit of America. You, as the customer, are doing every employee paid to serve you a favor by asking them to do their job. When in the mood, I've gotten into a bit of a habit of stopping in while running errands on Friday mornings and treating myself to a good cup of coffee that I didn't have to brew. Of course, it is after the morning rush so I don't really know what is like during that time of day. The location is a little hidden, facing Mounes rather than right in the Elmwood shopping center. The place always has a few people, using the free wi-fi or just reading. Makes life easy having the daily wi-fi code published on the receipt. It started as a local chain and had been sold to out of state investors, but local people (same as run WOW) bought them a couple years ago. So I would prefer to spend my money locally rather than give Starbucks my cash. It has a friendly staff, I never have to wait to catch their attention. There is plenty of room and places to sit inside and enjoy the coffee as well as a couple of tables outside. They still have their wine bar in the store even though they never followed through on the idea. Nor have they changed the sign out front. FOR THIS SPECIFIC PJ's: I rarely write reviews, but after coming into town and stopping here I had to say this after realizing this has occurred every time...I have lived in several cities, and this is literally the only coffee shop I have been to where the people working always aggressively ask for a tip, putting the customers in an awkward position. All of the other PJ's stopped this after the COVID restrictions lifted, and as I noted I have never seen this in any other coffee shop. I wonder if the manager or owner told them to do this so they (owner/manager) don't have to pay them (the workers) a more decent wage...very strange... read more

I love PJ's! I was a previous employee and have been a loyal customer for nearly twenty years. I had been going to the Elmwood location, multiple times a week, for almost a year ordering the same thing every time...an iced Mocha made with cold brew espresso. One day, there was a different employee there and when I made my order, he refused to make it. Him and another employee proceeded to discuss why they wouldn't make it, which had to do with them not knowing how to process the up charge. It was implied that I was trying to take advantage by getting more than I was paying for, which was more than slightly embarrassing. I spoke to the manager/owner, who was very sweet and seemed to understand. She'd been the one that had been making my order every other time. However, today (9/11/2019) I was told by the same manager that I'd previously spoken with that they won't make an iced mocha with the ED. The rude employee was smugly standing behind her. I immediately went to the PJ's location on Veterans Blvd and was able to purchase my drink, the way I wanted it, with friendly customer service and a smile. read more

I only drink hot caramel creme. This is the only location where the coffee is awful. The last time i ate the cost and threw the coffee away. This time I had to come all the way back and request a refund. There was no whipped cream of caramel drizzle on my coffee just like the last time. The young lady at the counter insisted that it does not come with those items until the looked at the menu and clearly it does. The coffee is always too strong. At first glance, you'd think a coffee shop in Elmwood would be off my beaten path. It's really not, since Elmwood is a great portal (via the Earhart Expressway) to Uptown NOLA, or (via the Huey P. Long Bridge) to the West Bank. There's also enough shopping to make it a good place to start a day that involves retail errands. The PJ's on Mounes is big and airy. There's actually a bar in the back, too. If I have the story right, this location was originally built by a franchisee who was going to get a liquor license and serve adult beverages in the evenings. There's some logic to this, given the proximity to the big AMC theater complex and Elmwood Fitness Center. This plan didn't come to fruition, though, but the place is still big, open, and a great work environment. It's also a very busy location in the mornings! The traffic is almost all in-and-out, although there a few folks who actually sit down long enough to enjoy their coffee. Like most busy coffee shops, the pastries are usually warm and fresh. The regular baristas are attentive and know what they're doing. The wi-fi here is solid, but the number of power outlets near tables is minimal. Still, this isn't a big med-student/nursing-student hangout, which is a refreshing change. Recommended! read more

They do great at paying close attention to what their customers like,some mornings I go in & let the barista pick a delicious brew for me! Why not?! They are the experts! This PJs is good if I'm driving home from work and need a caffeine fix before taking the Huey P Long Bridge (who knows how long I'll be waiting on the bridge, after all). My only complaint, ever, is that they offered a coupon on their website for a free trial of their Southern Wedding Cake blend iced coffee. I printed this thing out and went on 3 different occaisions after work to try and sample it - they were constantly sold out. I mean, it's probably my fault for going to get coffee at 5pm, but still irritating. I always ended up purchasing another drink, though, and I enjoy just about everything on their menu. I'm hoping that Wedding Cake blend isn't such a limited time offering that I can still purchase it to try it. Anywho, great drinks (tea, coffee... try them all!), delicious treats, and a free WiFi code printed on your receipt. I love this PJ's because they make the single most perfect iced mocha. The staff is friendly and they don't appear to have a lot of turnover. They are quick, but not too chatty. The place is spacious and great for grabbing a cup of Joe solo, or with company. Plenty of seating and free wi-fi meet your local neighborhood coffee shop expectations. I also like that they have options other than breakfast goodies. They obviously accommodate the lunch crowd with sandwich offerings, which is nice. It's my favorite PJ's since I abandoned the Maple Street location - not because anything was wrong with it, once I finish my schooling uptown, I no longer found myself in the area. Geez, I feel like I just showed up unannounced at my angry Aunt's house and had the nerve to ask her to make me a latte. Coffee was ok. The girl taking my order was pleasant but she forgot about the two food items I ordered.. When I reminded and told her one was for here and one was to go, she just put them both in paper bags and handed them to me. My main problem was the person making our drinks. Who I suspect, from the attitude may have been the manager. There's no better way to say it, she was just rude as f*ck! Made us feel like we were harassing her by just being there. Rude. Rude and MEAN even. Made us feel very unwelcome. I can easily say she's in the top 3 of the rudest service, I have ever received. Ever. And the store was NOT busy, it was very quiet and peaceful in there. Seemed like a good atmosphere, except for her. We just left. Immediately. First time there and it will be my last. I purchased a bagel from the counter baristas. I toasted the bagel and the toaster almost burned the bagel on setting 2. I went to the barista and asked for butter. The guy, who did not have a PJ's shirt on, pointed to the condiment area and said its over there. I told him it was not and they checked in the back. They did not have any butter. Pros: the fastest free public wi-fi that I have ever seen. Speed test returned 27.4 Mbps, which is faster than what I usually get at home. Cons: 4.25 seems high for a small mocha, I thought Starbucks prices were outrageous until coming here. Maybe that's the price I have to pay for fast wifi. read more

Utterly impressed with their morning rush handling. Seriously. The two baristas in the morning are an organized well oiled machine. I have walked in with a line 10-12 deep and walked out with coffee within minutes, granted I get the same thing, the others around me may not and I always feel as though the staff is prepared. I have visited in the evening hours and the staff is just as wonderful and helpful. One major thing here, this pj's consistently makes good Iced Mochas. If you are a fan and have been to other stores you will see what I mean. There are very few stores that make an iced mocha the same way, tasting great over and over. Nearly $4 for a medium cup of coffee - that's just for old school black coffee. When standing in line, there's always cops sitting in the chairs looking hard at everyone. Very uncomfortable feeling. The female employee in the morning isn't very friendly and never says "thank you". It's a steady line, but not busy enough for her to be rude.
