Avoid this place if you can. The service is ultra slow, and the staff does not have much knowledge about coffee, or anything related to a bakery. The display section is poorly designed; half of the wrapped pastries are trapped in by tables. If there are people sitting there, one can not even walk by, and pick one up. I have given this place 3 chances, and today was the last time I will go there again. I would walk a few more blocks down to Letty's. They do not have a fancy decor, but at least they have tasty cakes, and friendlier service. I have been to many other location of this chain, and this one is the worst!! What should have been a 45 min delivery was 1.5 hours and still hasn't arrived This is the second time I ordered and it was the same thing last time as well. The staff are okay, I asked them to put more caffeine on my latte and they just put to drops of coffee I had to trough it out and go somewhere else to get it. This place is either hit or miss. Whats with the little Indian girl like running the place half the time? I know child labor laws are different when its family, but what the hell shes like teaching the other employees who are three times her age. Excellent "new age" coffee shop venue that attracts clientele of all ages, backgrounds, from high schoolers to seniors. The coffee and beverages are superb as is the food and snacks. The layout consists of individual seats and tables, seating up to 44 with views of 37th Ave at 81st St...lots of pedestrian traffic. They also have free wifi and power outlets. On occasions I have observed ad hoc meetings among small groups which enhance the general atmosphere. The bathroom is clean and well maintained, too. The staff is friendly and pleasant. I love and appreciate how this cafe differs from the other stores. These owners have taken caffe Bene to a whole other level. The decor is beautiful. The environment is friendly and the employees are refreshing. They smile , they joke with customers and give honest feedback about the merchandise they are selling. They explain how things are made and they do their best to ensure the customer's always satisfied. Sure there will be slow days but you cannot rush perfection... Right? If you want a "hot sandwich" be mindful that they have to prepare it and make sure they aren't giving you an undercooked meal. I love the almond croissants! I also noticed they started carrying blueberry bagels. (I've never tried it) but I definitely intend on doing so. They'll get better over time. Starbucks is no competition to them. read more

As a local resident of this neighborhood, I was looking forward to the opening of a caffebene but sadly, it has disappointed me with their mediocre, overpriced food. Most importantly, the quality of their coffee is not as great. I brought my relative here to claim the free coffee coupon and honestly, it pales in comparison to McDonald's coffee. A great place to find healthy food options! The atmosphere here are always very pleasant. The service here is also fairly instant and the staff courteous. This is the best cafe I have ever been to! They have a rather large menu with tasty savory and sweet dishes. I was especially impressed by their expresso, which instantly reminded me of delicious coffee I drank in Rome. In terms of savory foods their salmon avocado sandwhich was a favorite. The service was great; they had friendly staff and speedy service. What more can i ask for!?
