This place reminds me of one of those half-Western half-Pahari cafés you find in hill station towns like McLeod Ganj. It's always simple ghar ka khana, but it's cozy inside and the food is always comforting. We were tempted to order the sel roti, but ended up getting the brunch platter. The chole was amazing, and the fried eggs were good as well. Some pieces of the aloo were a bit kaccha but it was well spiced. This is a cute little spot on Roosevelt in Jackson Heights. I came with a group of 4 and we were seated as we arrived (did not have to wait for everyone to arrive). The waitress was very friendly and patient as we kept asking for more time to look at the menu. At one point we asked the table next to us what they ordered and we got that as well. We all got a drink as well- cold brew, a matcha strawberry drink, a strawberry drink, and a latte. They were solid choices. The food was delicious and all of us pretty much cleared our plates. Another breakfast set from breakfast/ brunch menu. For drinks we had coffee and chai. We ordered bacon egg and cheese on a brioche bun and a breakfast platter. Both breakfast options were good but was bit oily for me. There foods are always greasy with butter. I wished they use less butter, but hey it's the butter that makes it good. Matcha creme latte was okay. Very mild matcha flavor, strawberry creme was good which tasted like melona icecream and was overpowering the taste of matcha. Finally tried this spot for brunch and was very disappointed. The ingredients seemed fresh but was not cooked well. The eggs were not runny as I asked for, the potatoes were hard as rocks, the daal was very very watery almost like a drink and everything lacked flavor. Tried a new spot for Mother's Day brunch. Small but lots of ambiance. Lavender, strawberry lemonades, and lavender latte...very flavorful and delicious. House Complete breakfast (spicy potatoes, salad, avocado, jam, fruit, eggs, and toast) with side of bacon. Catmandoo's Special Brunch (spicy potatoes and chick peas, eggs, and like a roti bread), then an order of waffles, and French toast. Everything was so good, and excellent customer service. We tried this place during the 12th annual momo crawl event on 9/15/2024. There was a line out the door, so while waiting, we took notice of the sign of menu specials. Coffee and diverse teas and interesting drinks are offered on a posted menu along with some standard baked goods, however, the specials did not seem to reflect a Himalayan type cuisine, but I also did not see an actual menu. It is a very small and intimate space. We found the momos (beef) to be bland and the accompanying sauce pretty much flavorless except for the heat. We would not return for these. read more

I stumbled upon this place by accident as I was running extremely late for a meeting and needed wifi asap. They are so kind that you don't even need to purchase anything in order to use their wifi. Seating is a bit tight but they do have a laptop free zone and a laptop only zone for when it's busier. The bagel is perfect. I definitely recommend that. Came to cafe catmandoo on a random Sunday without any reservations and without any wait time. Street parking outside that could be a bit hard to find. The restaurant is pretty small and cute, cozy atmosphere. Our servers were nice and explained the menu to us, but it's more like self-serve and you order at the counter and they bring the food for you. We ordered a bunch of stuff and we've never tried Himalayan cuisine before so we were very curious about it. It did not disappoint! Loved the rose latte and pretty much every dish we got, especially the burrata and momos. The price was pretty reasonable we spend about $40 per person and obviously as you can see ordered a lot of food and even had some to take home. The drink was nice and not overly sweet with bits of strawberry that I enjoyed. The meal was nice and balanced, salad had strawberries. 4.5 stars. A friend of my alerted me of this new Himalayan café that just opened last week. Their menu has the usual coffee offerings (latte, cappuccino, etc.) but also offers wine and beer. They also have some limited food options which is what I was most curious about. When I visited this past weekend, I honestly was slightly disappointed at first to see that their menu didn't have many Himalayan food options listed. In fact, the only item that was Himalayan, that I saw, were Momos (Beef, Pork and Veggies). Nevertheless, I was excited to try them out. The Momos are made to order and was told it would take about 15-20 minutes to make so I decided to order that on my next visit when I had more time. Instead, I ended up ordering an Avocado Toast ($10) and an Egg Salad Toast ($10). Both were quite good and had a slightly different flavor from your usual avocado or egg salad toast. The spices used (I tasted coriander, cumin, and cardamom) gave it more of a kick which I really enjoyed. It was both familiar and different at the same time if that makes sense. I was also very impressed by how hospitable and warm the staff were. The owner, Sonam, personally came by and chatted with me. He also gave me complimentary Masala tea (their own special blend) to drink while I waited for my order. I'm so glad they opened, and I think they are a great addition to this block of restaurants and to this neighborhood in general. I hope more people supports them. read more

I loved this place! It is located in Jackson heights, very close to the subway station, so it is very convenient to go to. One thing you should definitely try when you're in Jackson heights are the momos and this place's momo's were so delicious!! I've only tried momos from 2 other places in Jackson heights but this place was an immediate favorite. I got the beef momos and it was so juicy. It reminded me of xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) because of how juicy it was but it also had a dipping sauce that made it taste so good! The place itself is small but has plenty of seating and there is a water gallon you can refill water yourself from. The servers were all very kind and I really enjoyed eating here! read more

I don't recommend coming in alone, staff isn't as friendly as I hoped based on the reviews and will forget you're there to order if you ask for a minute to think of what to order. Orders take a while to come out (this is true when it's not busy), so that's why I think if you're with friends or a date that wouldn't matter too much. I had a Himalayan breakfast plate which seemed rather basic for the time I had to wait, though everything was cooked well. It had bread, chickpeas, eggs and potatoes, I expected something a little more robust in my opinion. The momos were alright. You'll spend $20+ if you want food and a drink, which seems a bit much based on the service and quality.
