We visited here for the first time during the 2025 Momo Crawl in Jackson Heights, Queens. This is a fairly new establishment and a new Momo Crawl participant. The beef momo were decent, but found others we much preferred. We were glad to get to check this place out.

We visited Kasthamandap and had a mixed experience with the food. We ordered the Momo Platter and the Volcano Momo. The presentation of the Volcano Momo was amazing--it's definitely a showstopper when it hits the table! However, the actual flavor of the momos was just okay. It's a great spot for a fun dining experience and cool photos, but the taste didn't quite live up to the visual hype for me.

Stopped by this place as I was craving momo of course like every other day or so! The restaurant was cozy, warm lighting and felt very traditional! I got the momo platter, pork and chicken mix. It came with kothe, fried, steamed, and chili momo plus two types of achar, all super flavorful and juicy. Even the c momo momo (which I usually skip) was amazing. Also, tried the volcano momo too just for the theatrics of it all! The momo was good but the sauce aka "jhol" was not it. The sauce had too much carom seeds and i couldn't taste anything at all. Also ended up getting masala chia and it was homely! Definitely going back to try other stuff and momo always.

Food was delicious! Our group of 2 got the curry set with pork and some sautéed potatoes. Both were perfectly seasoned. On a Thursday night it was not very busy with only 2-3 groups at a time. The service was a little slow and they didn't really watch the tables so it was hard to get their attention. I would've also appreciated if they let us know that the curry set already came with potatoes so we could've tried something else on the menu.

My friend took me to Kasthamandap so we could try Himalayan/Nepalese cuisine for the first time. We came when it opened at 3pm on a Wednesday, we basically had the restaurant to ourselves during our whole meal. The restaurant is very dim. I like the cultural décor and the music. There was only one staff in the front who acted as the waiter and the bartender at the time. He was very friendly and attentive. We ordered: Kasthamandap Platter ($32.79) - A combination platter with 2 fried chicken, 2 sausage, 4 steam chicken MoMo, Aalu Achar, Sadeko Peanuts, Wai-Wai Chatpatey and Salad. I really enjoyed this platter. My only critiques are I wish the sausage was grilled more because it was softer than I would like, and I found the momo to be a little dry. Pani Puri ($9.79) - Crispy hollow fried dough balls (Puri) stuffed with spiced potato, chickpeas, onions, and served with spicy tangy water. This was delicious! You can have the puri alone with the spiced potato and it tastes really good. But with the spicy tangy water, it added an additional refreshing factor. Keema Noodles ($14.79) - Steam noodles served with fresh garlic, peanuts and red chili paste with choice of keema meat (we chose chicken). This was also delicious. The peanut flavor is milder compared to the red chili paste. When mixed the noodles were savory, and perfectly al dente. I would definitely come back to try more dishes!

Met up with one of my squads at Kasthamandap and added some tasty memories to our collection. We kicked things off with the Kasthamandap Wings, five pieces of pure crispy bliss, and the Shabalay, Nepali-style empanadas that were quite tasty. Then we progressed to a series of momos, because...Nepalese food...duh. The best of the bunch were the piping hot Volcano Momos with pork. The vegetarian Chilli Momos were a bit too sweet for my liking, and the Jhol Momos were just aiight. We also took a dive into the sea with the Rahu Fried Fish. It was one of the better fried fish dishes I've had in the city. Continuing the crispy theme, we added the Masala Papad, which was a spicy revelation: lentil chips topped with a Nepali salsa that had us reaching for more like it was the last snack on Earth. But the real star of the show? The Keema Noodles. They were so mind-blowingly good that we ordered them twice. Spicy noodz in the most delectably savory sauce--is there anything that better exemplifies comfort food? I'm literally drooling as I type. The decor and service were on the same elegant and friendly par as nearby Nepalese restaurants, with the added bonus (or drawback depending on your preferences) of live music starting at 8:30pm. I've been to most of the Nepalese/Himalayan restaurants in the area, and Kasthamandap wins out for those amazing Keema noodz.

Took a tour of Roosevelt Ave in Queens for date night. We were in the mood to try a few new places. This came up in our search so we decided to try it. Ambiance was diner style, dimly lit but not terrible. The service was appallingly slow considering there were only 2 parties in the restaurant. We got seated and waited nearly 30 minutes for our platter. It was unimpressive, the momos were the only saving grace for this restaurant. They were outstanding, great flavor, the dough had a very nice chewy texture. Our initial impression is that we would try a few things and see what else we'd try but after the first platter we decided to go elsewhere for round two. Drinks were Manhattan prices, I highly recommend the momo platter instead of the Kasthamandrop platter. I don't think two hot dogs, two chicken wings, some crunched up raw ramen noodles, and spicy boiled peanuts was worth the price and best thing on the plate were the Momos. It was an experience, but one that I wouldn't repeat.

If you want LEGIT nepali food with live performances and very chick vibes this is the place for you!! Servers and managers are very attentive and this place is mostly packed so remember to get your reservations. Went with few friends-tried their momo platter and Khaja set- Both were amazinggg! Must try!

OG Kasthamandap Smoked Barrel. $18. Tasty cocktail with a fun presentation

I went to this new Nepalese spot a while ago with a group. The inside is perhaps a bit too dark but they are going with more of a bar atmosphere. Service was friendly and gave recommendations to others for drinks/for food. Compared to most of the Nepalese spots in general, the food here is more well spiced and just tastier. To drink, I got the OG Kasthamandap Smoked Barrel for $18 which is infused with Woodinville bourbon in barrel with HM Bitters and Agave. Lightly sweet and very smoky, this was put on fire at the table which was a fun presentation. We got two of sets to share. The Khaja Set for $17.79 consists of a traditional Nepali snack platter with choila(chicken), mula achar (radish pickle,) aalu achar (potato pickle,) bhatmas sadeko (spicy soy bean,) beaten rice, and salad. I liked the mix of pickles/achars with the cold tasty chicken. The soy bean had a good crunch. This was a good mix and would go well with a beer/other things. This was probably my 2nd favorite thing and I'd order this alone and be very happy. I preferred that platter over it's more pricey version, the Kasthamandap Platter for $29.79 consisting of 2 fried chicken, sausage, 4 steam chicken momo, sadeko (spicy) aalu, sadeko peanuts, chicken wings, wai-wai chatpatey (chaat made from wai-wai which is an instant noodle) and salad. This felt more like a bar food platter. Big portion of course but the flavors were less explosive. The momos were tasty with my other favorite being the wai-wai mix. Of the other dishes, my favorite dish was the Chili Pork MoMo for $15.79 These consisted of fried pork dumplings sautéed in aromatic tomato chilly sauce with onion and curry leaves. There were plenty of these outstanding momos and the sauce reminded me of gobi manchurian/chili 65 with a good mix of sweet with a good spice. The other momos listed under Himalayan Dumplings we chose were the beef variety. They're normally $13.79 but we got them Jhol style for an extra $2 which is a yellow slightly spicy sour gravy. Consisting of ground beef, onions, scallion, cilantro, ginger and garlic wrapped in handmade dough covered in chutney sauce, they were also excellent. Surely more pricey than momo carts but these had a better flavor and were stuffed. The Jhol was excellent as well with good flavors. The Pani Puri for $9.79 consisted of crispy hollow fried dough balls (Puri) stuffed with spiced potato, chickpeas, onions, and served with spicy tangy water. These were make your own style with plenty of puri to go around. Solid version but I have had better with the water needing a stronger tamarind flavor. The Chicken Gizzard/Bhuteko Pangra for $12.79 refers to said gizzards cooked stir-fried with onion, tomatoes, green chili, and Himalayan herbs. The onions were cooked down nicely and the texture was as expected. Tasty as well. Our last dish was the Aloo Chilly for $10.79 consisting of fried potatoes tossed in spicy, sweet & sour chili sauce with garlic, tomatoes, onion, bell peppers, green chili, and cilantro. The sauce was stronger than other spots more similar to the one for the momos which I am not complaining about as I tend to find this dish bland otherwise. Not many complaints for this spot outside of the one non Nepalese dish which was just alright. Sure it's more expensive and their lighting could be better but the food is just better here than the other Himalayan spots I've been to. Would go back. Mid 4.

This really is the most exciting new restaurant in Queens! I've sampled my fair share of momos and Nepalese restaurants in Jackson Heights and beyond, and the offerings here are truly top-notch. Let's start with the vibe: a classy full bar with live music in the evening, and videos showing highlights of Nepal in the background. I opted for the vodka rani as my cocktail, and it was very refreshing without being overly sweet. The food was spectacular. My favorite was the momo platter, which included veg momos cooked four different ways, with the slightly-spicy chili momos being the star of the show. The plain steamed momos were also perfectly-textured. We also enjoyed the tangy chili aloo, and the appetizer platter of cold dishes, including a very nice sour potato curry and - be warned - extremely spicy peanut crunch. Will be back very soon!

This restaurant here makes sure you feel as close to their home country as possible. The food was absolutely awesome, and the environment had a great vibe. We tried Kasthamandap Platter, which was delicious and beautifully presented. First time trying the pani puri it was full of flavor. And their water buffalo dish that is recommended by the one of good owner suraj . I love every spices in it. Moist and tender, Overall, I highly recommend Kasthamandap for its amazing food, wonderful atmosphere

I did not expect to be hit by the best Nepalese snack platter known to man last night when I walked into this establishment. Everything was exceptional - so fresh and tasty. The waiters were all incredibly kind and diligent, and offered to suggest food, and came by repeatedly with water. The ambiance was impeccable with tables of girlfriends and families gossiping over amazing food while a talented musician strum his guitar. On top of this place it's open till 1am. Exceptional, I will be back ASAP.

A stand up 5 out of 5 stars!! The food, cocktails, vibe, the space and service are 100% date night worthy! For me, it's rare to have cuisine I've never had, that just blows me away...This is it. Bathrooms and space are clean! Walk in with wifey around 8pm on a Friday night, the place was packed. Reservations towards the weekend might be the move. Strong lounge vibes from the rectangular space that holds a large bar, small stage and a solid assortment of tables to accommodate large parties to couples. I heard many of the tables around us communicate with the servers in what I believed to be Nepalese. A strong alto was jamming out the hits on her acoustic. Vibey mood! Started off with an amazing drank, the fuzzy gin. It was perfection. Our server checked on us at just the right times. So, if you've not had Nepalese food before...I'd say it's own unique cuisine thats heavily informed by Chinese and Indian food. I had the name sake platter which had chicken Mo Mo-steamed dumplings elevated with cilantro and onion, chicken sausage-that could pass for pork kielbasa. Both were amazing. It also comes with Sadeko peanuts- soy beans and p-nuts stir fried with a kick of chili, wai- wai chatpatey- veggies with noodles cut to rice length and fried crispy...these two were incredible! The Alou Achar- cold potato dish with a mildly flavored thick sauce and "salad"- one large carrot slice and one large cucumber slice. These were just ok. The chicken wings however, some of the best I've ever had, rivals Korean fried chicken IMHO. Crispy, dry and just the right kick...Gold medal. Wifey had the Tingmo set. Tingmo are large braided steamed buns similar to Bao buns. Really good and significantly heavier and starchier than bao. The set also came with black chickpeas which are served cold with diced peppers. Think dry salsa... delicious. Then comes the Chilli- an Indian leaning red sauce that is spicy with a hint of sweet..chili and your choice of protein. Wifey selected paneer and as usual, she was right! You might remember paneer from previous episodes of Indian food- semi hard white cheese that has just the right chew. Think fresh mozzy. This set is crazy good. Also order a beef Jhol Mo Mo- beef dumplings with onion and cilantro in a sourish broth. This was just ok. Id prob stick with chicken or pork Mo Mo. In all as you can tell from my review debut as a novelist... I'm going back, and you should too.
