We are shocked that this place has 4.5 stars. What?! My husband and I went for the first time last week and had a terrible meal. The "special" appetizer we had was bland tomatoes, bland mozzarella and cheap olive oil. We moved on to salads...Caesar was ok, but pairing beets, a sweet dressing and candied walnuts with the very bitter radicchio is just awful. Then came the main course. Ummm, dear chef: herb crusted and breaded are two different preparations. Also, if you're going to serve a bland over-breaded pork chop with a pile of greens that is actually a side salad, you should learn how to phrase the menu appropriately and the waiter may have mentioned said salad when I ordered a SALAD to start with! Tasted like store bought bread crumbs with zero salt and pepper and way overpriced for such a crap preparation. And then there was my husbands steak which was cooked as ordered but bland and the nastiest coarse piece of NY strip ever. When we sent it back the manager apologized appropriately and assured us it was "prime", but the second one was just as gross. Like steel wool shards among beef. If your chef can take a bite of this steak and actually think it tastes good, you have a problem. Oh, and then there was the moment when I tried to use the bathroom and there was a pile of poo on the floor in one of two stalls. Once the mop had been summoned and the coast was clear, I went back in and saw their bathroom cleanliness checklist hadn't been signed since Wednesday at 4 pm. It's now Friday at 9, sooooo.... Shit happens (literally) but probably don't post this sheet unless your staff is actually checking the restrooms. The bread and complimentary olives were the highlight of the night. Caffe Aldo is a chic retreat in the middle of Cherry Hill's most trafficky, retaily area. Late on a Friday evening, we were greeted immediately upon entering the lobby, our coats were checked, and although we arrived about 10 minutes prior to our 8:30 reservation, we were seated right away. Wine is available in 5- or 7-oz. pours, which is a nice option for when you want a little more, but still want the ability to make it home. Martinis are tasty and strong (my blood orange version was really delicious)! What stood out to me at Caffe Aldo was the impeccable service. Staff was constantly buzzing around the dining room, filling water glasses, removing empty plates, decrumbing tablecloths. This paired with the lovely decor made it truly feel like an upscale dining experience. Most of our food was also really delicious and definitely fairly priced. The cheese platter appetizer was perfect, as were the zucchini crab cakes. My husband loved his filet. Where the star is lost (and really, I wish I could have done a half-star, because this isn't a huge deal) was on my own entrée. When I asked my waiter if I should choose a certain dish from the regular menu, or one of the specials, he steered me toward the special, since the other dish would always be there. I ended up disappointed with the flavors of my dish, and wished I had made the other turn. But like the waiter said... that other dish will be there next time I visit, and perhaps I will update my review with a 5th star. read more

My husband and I have been here for dinner once, and for happy hour/cocktails on several occasions. LOVE it!! Excellent wine list, phenomenal service, and delicious food. During the week, 5-7 they have a fantastic happy hour menu, $5 appetizers, and $5 cocktails/signature wine with $3 draft beers. During nice weather the open air bar is a phenomenal place to sit, it's a shame that highway 70 is RIGHT there and kinda noisy.... The dining room is a wonderful place for a nice meal...I defintely recommend it for a "date night" or an anniversary. read more

Absolute perfection. We bypassed alcohol for this meal, so I cannot account for the wine list. The service was top notch. Very attentive waiters. Our food came out in a timely fashion and was mouth watering, delectable, piping hot, and worthy of a plate licking. Don't come in jeans lest you want to feel under dressed. It's a nice place, make sure you dress nice to compliment the decor. Just amazing. You will not be disappointed. There is no point in listing what we ate, because I'm going to go out on limb and say everything is perfect. Make reservations, and be prepared to be valet parked. I recently went to Caffe Aldo Lamberti to celebrate my nephew's 21st bday with the intent to have a great dinner with family (party of 7). We had a reservation for 9pm. The first sign of trouble was the waiter was not familiar with the drink menu. He was also slow with taking our order but we didn't complain because we had good company and conversation. Drinks and appetizers were good as always.....no complaints there. About 25mins after taking our entrée orders, the waiter returned to the table to tell us "there's a problem in the kitchen". We're thinking maybe they ran out of some items, but were we wrong. He proceeds to tell us "the kitchen is closed", yes, THE KITCHEN IS CLOSED!!!! Wth are you serious?!? He apologized and offered to cut our cake we brought in as if we came for cake and drinks ughhhh. We decided against cutting the cake. Never did the manager or maître d' address us. Why wouldn't the waiter know what time the kitchen closes?!? I'm still confused and appalled at this. The bill was also wrong as we would've been charged for an appetizer we didn't order had I not check the bill. This was absolutely ridiculous. I've been to this restaurant many times before and this has been my worst experience, bad enough for me to not be a returning customer. read more

Our 4th visit to Caffe Aldo Lamberti. Nicely impressed with the first 3. This time however we ran into a seasoned but rude server. He made us feel intimidated to make changes or disapprove of a meal. My daughter complained of an inedible platter. We tasted it also and she was right. The waiter instead of an smile and courtesy, abruptly called the manager to handle the complaint. The manager allowed her to return the meal, but not with a smile or apology. When I mentioned to the server that my meal was misrepresented on the menu I met with the same response from the manager. Their attitudes made us feel our business was unappreciated and worse unwanted. High prices, mediocre food and rude service. Goodbye Lamberti, my money will be spent where I feel people care and prices are in line with the food quality. read more

Caffee Aldo Lamberti is getting 4 stars mainly for the service. I was actually a little disappointed in the food. With a little step up in the food department, this could have easily been a 5 star experience. The experience begins with complimentary valet service at the front door. Nothing gets me ready for an out of this world culinary adventure like a friendly valet opening the door for me. The queue was filled with a Ferrari Fiorano, a Porsche Panamera, and a Audi R8 convertible. Of course, I rolled up large in my Nissan Altima rental, but the valet didn't notice the difference and shared a friendly greeting and welcome with me. The entranceway is spacious and welcoming. The hostess quickly found our reservation, but we opted to retire to the bar for a drink while we waited for the rest of our party. The keg ran out on my beer selection so the bartender disappeared for a few moments to change the keg. While I would prefer that he let me know that it would be a few minutes and give me the option to make another selection, I recognize that is a personal preference. Once we got to our table, our server greeted us and shared the evening's specials. Our server did an excellent job throughout our business meal, always being nearby, but never intruding upon our slow pace. The tables are spaced a distance apart and the room is large, so the volume in the room never got to the point where it interfered with our conversation. We got the calamari as an appetizer. Although it was prepared well, it was no better than the calamari that you can get at any Italian casual dining restaurant. For my entree, I got the pork loin special with crab meat, gorgonzola, bacon, and a demi-glace. I found the pork to be tough, the bacon to be bland, and the gorgonzola and crab portion to be skimpy. My colleagues both got the sea bass - prepared two different ways - and let me tell you that I had intense entrée envy. Caffe Aldo Lamberti is definitely a restaurant you should visit if you don't want to venture into the city for an amazing dining experience. I would suggest, however, that you stay away from the pork loin and opt for the seafood. read more

I've been back a couple of times since he Xmas party debacle and have found the food to be on a par with the best. Just goes to show you that one visit is never enough to judge the true value of a place! However after I posted this review and, just as I was about to be complimentary Aldo comes along and crushes my hopes. My business partner, who was kind enough to pay for this visit on his credit card forgot his card behind. He called the next day and they said they would send it to him. A few weeks later ... no card... the waiter is off on his honey moon so no one knows if its been sent.... still no card... a month later another call.....he was brusquely told it was probably lost in the mail, you should cancel your card.... Bottom line... food is fine ... decor is great.... services is sort of OK but spotty... management could use a charm school refresher. read more

I adore this place. It is not just for the charming waiters, tulle and twinkle light draped tree, or the entertainment of seeing Jersey women in their latest leopard fashion. They have excellent food. Their fish is outstanding. It is fresh. The sauces simple. Cooked perfectly. Their pasta sauces are lick the plate good. Even the green olives they bring to your table as a starter are fruitier and fresher than most. Service is excellent. Went here for restaurant week and overall had a good experience. I didn't look at the regular menu so I don't know what prices look like normally but based on the drink prices I would say this place is probably pretty expensive. The valet service is a little ridiculous. Yes, its a nice restaurant but it's also on Rte 70. Let's get over ourselves a little bit. And the fact that you had no record of the reservation that you called me to confirm just hours earlier is unacceptable. The food was good. I enjoyed the zuchini crabcake the most. I felt like the other food was standard. The Caprese salad was nothing to write home about and although I liked my eggplant napoleon I make it better myself. Service was good. I will probably not come back but I am glad I had the chance to give it a shot at a reasonable price. If it weren't restaurant week I would have been upset to pay more. read more

The wife and I have always wanted to dine at Caffe Aldo Lamberti for sometime. One day, while I was browsing for places serving Easter dinner/brunch, I came across Caffe Lamberti's spring restaurant week menu. Since Caffe Lamberti was participating in restaurant week in South Jersey last month, we decided it was the perfect time to seize the opportunity to dine there. Caffe Aldo Lamberti was offering a four-course dinner menu at $35 a person for their restaurant week special. For our first course I had the Peruvian Scallop Ceviche and my wife ordered the Caesar salad for appetizers. The ceviche was good and the Caesar salad well... was your standard Caesar salad. For our second course she went with the homemade shrimp tortelloni, and I with the zucchini crab cake. Now this is when things started to get good. I still prefer the Maryland style crab cakes, but Caffe Aldo Lamberti put a good twist on this favorite. I have to say the zucchini worked. In regards to our entrees I went with the Kona & Cinnamon crusted rack of lamb. Now I am not one that prefers my meat seasoned with sweet spices, but overall this dish worked. I tried some of my wife's Fantasia Di Mare. It was a linguine dish with a hand full of seafood in a spicy tomato sauce. In my opinion the sauce could've used a little more kick but overall it was good. Even though it was a limited menu, I was pleased with my first visit to Caffe Aldo Lamberti. The only thing I have to whine about is the fact that this place did not have Sazerac, other than that; I was really satisfied with my dining experience at Caffe Aldo Lamberti. On my next visit I hope to dig a little deeper into the regular menu. read more

We have been to Aldo Lamberti 4 times - once on Christmas Eve and 3 times on non-holiday evenings. The food is ALWAYS phenomenal. I would recommend not going on a holiday, though, as the restaurant is packed to the gills, the atmosphere is chaotic and frenetic and service is strained. Also, when we went for Christmas Eve, it appeared portions were smaller (it was a special holiday menu). Anyway, putting Christmas Eve aside, we think this is a fabulous restaurant and a very nice place for a special dinner, like an anniversary. On our most recent visit (last night), we had an amazing experience. First of all, they bring this scrumptious bread to the table that is soft and garlicky and has a light spread of tomato sauce on it. It is so great, and it takes every bit of control I have not to eat all of it before my meal comes. They also bring these wonderful green olives to the table that are marinated in some kind of special brine. Hubby just raves about them. For our appetizers I had the shrimp bisque, which was fantastic, and also the crab cake - also fantastic and almost all crab meat and very little filler, with a nice sear on the outside. Hubby had a breaded artichoke appetizer which he said was delicious. For our entrees, I had the sweet potato gnocchi and they were out of this world - soft and buttery with a light truffle sauce and mushrooms. Hubby had a fish entrée "slippery bass" (we laughed at the name). It was the most moist, delicious fish either of us have ever eaten and it was in a very light wine sauce. The veggies and potatoes that accompanied it were also scrumptious. For dessert, hubby had the key lime pie which was very light and fluffy (almost mousse consistency), and I had the cannoli, which was one of the best I've ever eaten. Hubby also had 2 martinis. The service was great. Our waiter, Douglas, was attentive without being cloying and very professional and polished. I bet he has been a waiter for many years. There was a nice man strolling the restaurant playing an accordion, which added to the lovely atmosphere. The only reason I removed a star is that it's an expensive restaurant. Our bill, with tax and tip, topped $150. Not to say the experience was not worth it, but sadly, it's not a restaurant we will frequent regularly because of expense. For my 19th birthday I decided to make reservations here for a group of my friends and I. It was a total almost 15 of us, my friends were dressed in all black and I wasn't because I was the birthday girl. To keep this short and brief, I felt like I was treated as a child there along with my friends. I'm a person who loves trying new restaurants out and I absolutely love Italian food. The first thing this restaurant did was remove the iPad menus that contained the wine list off our table without asking if we would like it removed. My sister and aunt were also there who are over 25 years old and what bothered me the most was that they were not asked if they wanted anything from the menu or anyone from that matter. They assumed we were all under age. The second thing was that I felt like my waiter was not as respectful. I felt rushed to order and taken as a joke. This is a place I will visit again but with a different waiter. The food was good and if that incident happens again with the wine menu I will ask to speak with a manager because it is rude to make an assumption about my age. read more

This is the flagship restaurant of the Lamberti family. It is obvious they put their most effort into this location and it really shows. I just wish they had the same management style at the other locations. The restaurant is beautiful and the bar area is incredible. In the bar, the wall of windows can be completely opened up so it is like sitting outside with the comforts of being inside. Great on a not too warm and sunny day. Excellent offering of seafood year round. The quality of the ingredients is excellent, but the actual cooking and menu is pretty basic. They do offer a fantastic happy hour during the week in the bar area. Half price on certain appetizers and discounted martinis, beers, and wine. The overall clientele is a little older; and folks who roll in here generally wear their money on their sleeves. Watch out for the plastic surgery patients and the occasional smell of doodie bubbles. Great for big occasions and they also offer good accomodations for large events. Anything seafood is a good choice. The short rib is also great. read more

I came here for Happy Hour yesterday with the fabulous Angela J to celebrate a new job! We both had the House White Wine and shared the Mediterranean Olives. They were divine. The olives were topped with orange zest and rosemary. Oh my flavor explosion. My senses came alive. The zest brought out the fruitiness of the olives. Yum. And their tomato bread??? I could've shoved my face in a full on plate of it. The vibe is very nice inside. Elegant, classy, yet fun. Great mix of people and nice bartenders. I'll be coming back next weekend for an actual meal and can't wait. read more

While up in PA for work, I met up with a former co-worker for a bite to eat. We decided up Aldo Lamberti. Inside it is pretty stark and spread out. There is a lot of outside natural light so if you're wanting something dark and intimate this is not your place. We ordered the fried zucchini appetizer. It was light but more breading than zucchini. For my main meal I ordered the scallops and shrimp verde pasta. The seafood was overcooked, but the sauce and fresh pasta was divine. My friend ordered the gnocchi with mushrooms and she loved it. If in the area again, I would definitely give this place another try. I think it has a lot of potential. read more

I think the Caffe has become my favorite restaurant. The food is fresh and the flavors are just different but in a good way! I ordered one of the fresh fish of the day and after they cook it in the kitchen, they will filet the fish in front of you which I thought was very interesting! It came with a side of veggies and mashed potatoes and the mashed potatoes were just perfect. I can't describe the taste so you just have to go there and try! My BF ordered the Ny strip that came with fries and mushrooms.. Wow! The way the mushrooms were cooked was delicious! I also tried some fries which had some cinnamon flavor to it. The steak was also perfect too! We also ordered some appetizers and I would totally recommend the calamari. The marinara has a hint of sweetness. I was so full from the food I was disappointed I could not try the dessert. The environment is very upscale and if you have anything less than a suit, you'll feel underdressed. The service is great. Our server had a great sense of humor and was very knowledgeable and attentive. We enjoyed our dinner very much. I also recommend making reservations ahead of time. We called earlier in the day on the same day and we couldn't get a table until 8:30 that night on a Thursday! I'm not sure if it was because it was near the holidays, but it was packed. Great place for special occasions or date night! Highly recommend! Oh and free valet. Not sure if it's mandatory but they are there. Favorite happy hour spot in South Jersey by far! During law school, I used to come with my friends all the time. $3 drafts (Stella, not Coors Light) and $5 Bellvedere martinis. Yes, please! The atmosphere is fun and the windows offer a great view of the highway...oh well. At least you can see Wegmans from the windows. There is also a variety of bar bites to choose from as well, such as zucchini fries and parmesan fries. Delicious! I stayed for dinner once, and wasn't disappointed. I had a risotto that was on special with a creamy sherry sauce topped with crab. It was really delicious, and my side salad was tasty as well. read more

Joanne V. is right - this place has been around for years. It's so old that I had my sixth-grade graduation dinner here right after it opened. It only took about 15 years or so for me to come back. ( I guess the fam wasn't impressed, huh?) And it looks like I wasn't the only one that outgrew any awkward stages. Some recent renovations have put Aldo on par with city restaurants in terms of decor and food. In other words, don't scrimp when you eat here, unless you're content on drinking and noshing at the bar. The apps, pastas and entrees are all worth trying, and they'll even do wine pairings if ask. Now, what to get. Order the towering buffalo mozzeralla napoleon instead of a salad, pan fried zucchini rather than the customary calamari and you MUST try the paccheri amatriciana, which might be one of my favorite dishes period. That's rigatoni, bacon, caramelized onions in some kind of heavenly gravy. I did get dessert, too, but this dish was so good that I completely forget what I even ordered. read more

Extensive wine list and a perfectly paired glass with every item on the menu. The menu is small but I like that because they focus on making each of those dishes perfectly. The service is always fantastic, they make you feel special and important. Pasta is homemade so you can't go wrong with a pasta dish. Seafood is always fresh from the stone crabs to raw oysters. As a side note I have been in the kitchen a few times and it is extremely clean! I know how important that is and how that is hard to come by. Great for parties! Great Italian spot in Cherry Hill! So I've been here twice and I've got to say, both times were very good. The portions for food and drink are large so come hungry AND thirsty. I've always had their fish dishes which have been very fresh and tasty both times. They always had a great variety of special fishes of the day and the fresh catch. This past time I had the special grouper with an herb crust which was delicious. The red snapper was also a winner during this visit. Another time I had their seafood pasta and enjoyed it so much I needed to be horizontal for the rest of the evening....I over indulged. Food aside, this is a great spot for some happy hour drinks with coworkers. The bar area is big and hopping every time I come. I may need suggest this place every time I have dinner with the in laws from here on out. read more

Lamberti's happy hour deal really is fantastic, especially if you want a classy place and good food without the big budget. They actually give you THREE hours of happiness, from 4-7pm, which means you don't have to rush out the office door at 5 o clock. $3 drafts and $5 wines and cocktails are fairly priced, but the real deal is the happy hour menu, which features small dishes at 1/2 the price. They're still large portions, though, so you can essentially have a nice meal without paying for it. The zucchini fries are great, not too salty or greasy, as is the mushroom risotto. Best of all, the bar area never seems crowded - which is why I figured I'd share this gem with you all! read more

Unfortunately, they do not honor reservations! I made a reservation and was asked if I preferred 5:00, 5:30 or 7:00. I confirmed the 7:00 reservation. I got to the restaurant (which was packed) and patiently waited while they told me they were clearing my table. After 20 minutes I asked again and was informed that several tables were on "dessert" and that they had no control since the bar area was undergoing construction and wasn't available therefore they had limited seating. Once I realized there were several available cleared and cleaned tables in the dining room and the staff was unapologetic and disinterested in my waiting in a crowd we left. read more

We have hosted 3 private events, dined as a family, and visited the bar for a date night. In all of my experiences the staff has been super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu/wine listings. The food is outstanding even when being served to a group event if 30plus guests. I have a shellfish allergy and they are always extremely cautious and take all the proper precautions to avoid cross contamination. They do have a lot of seafood/shellfish so it can be difficult to dine in the dining rooms during the height of dinner because it smells very "fishy". The scene is definitely upscale as is the bar during the weeknights. I would highly reccomend for large dinner parties or special events. read more

The entire experience is high end - from the food, the service, and the ambiance. To start off, their pizza bread is mouthwateringly delicious!! I have never had a bad meal here.
