Visited twice. Both times were in the morning. There is seating inside and outside. It is a bus your own table kind of establishment. Service was very quick. I had their americano with steamed cream which was good. Also had their caffe misto which I enjoyed more. It was very smooth. I tried the cinnamon roll which kind of ate like it was made with a croissant dough. It was slightly difficult to eat as it is so tall. The cream cheese on top was light, fluffy, and not sweet. It was definitely more cream cheese than a frosting situation. I tried their morning glory muffin which is a quite large. I really enjoyed the texture but thought it was slightly bland. Very casual little cafe. Had good size breakfast; plate with plenty of eggs, toast, bacon or hash browns. (Hashbrowns were frozen store bought) English muffin breakfast sandwich was ok. It was leveled up in a panini press. My hot latte was not hot, but warm, so was the hot warm chocolate. Bakery display looked delicious and had variety, did not try. "If you start me up If you start me up, I'll never stop" (Jagger/Richards) It was our last morning in Vancouver, before we boarded a bus to the Ferry Terminal and our cruise to Alaska. We didn't really want to stray far from the hotel for breakfast, And we sure didn't want to pay the price of our hotel's exorbitant breakfast. But my wife remembered a coffee and breakfast shop across the street from where he had dinner the night before. And that's how four of us walked over to Cafe Villaggio for an excellent breakfast. You order from the service counter, and either wait inside or wait on their street level patio until your order is ready. The weather was gorgeous, so we grabbed a table in front of the the Cafe. It was an excellent spot for people watching, and dog watching. The Cafe had a very impressive selection of breads, rolls, muffins, croissants, egg plates, lunch specials and Daily Specials. We went into the Daily Special board, and I ordered a smoked salmon bagel and my wife ordered a smoked salmon wrap. My bowl was delicious and came with a big served of smoked salmon on a multigrain bagel The coffee was great too. I've learned that the quality of restaurant coffee is a bit like spinning the Wheel of Fortune and hoping you get something that doesn't suck. But Villaggio's was excellent. We saw a number of patrons tie up their dogs to a table, then run inside for a coffee. I gotta tell ya, those dogs got a lot of lovin' from folks walking by. As for me, I sure loved Villaggio's. Great location and variety of pastries, but food and drinks are average. I've been here many times. Today I got a plain Swiss roll, and it was mostly frozen. I told the staff, and she said yeah it's frozen. It's because they "freeze it overnight then cut it". It's mind boggling for me because if I'm eating it there, should it not be fully thawed before they serve it to the customer? They did not seem apologetic at all, so I ended up getting a to-go box to take it home. Also, we had breakfast here once, with eggs bacon toast. Don't do it! It's microwaved bacon as they don't actually have a full kitchen in the back. It tasted like airplane food. read more

**Not sure why this cafe shows as "CLOSED" here on Yelp, as I went here today and it was TOTALLY OPEN** Today is Mother's Day and I booked a massage for myself in this Coal Harbor area, but I was early, so I decided to walk around the area. It was a beautiful day out, sunny and not too cold, and I decided to treat myself to a coffee or a drink somewhere, as I had an hour to kill. I walked towards Cardero's, but this café directly across the street caught my eye. It had a large outdoor seating area, with both bistro chairs and tables and benches and picnic tables sectioned off from the street, and the doors were open and it just appeared inviting. So I ventured inside. Wow, what a display of beautiful-looking sandwiches and wraps and pastries and croissants! And so so many to choose from! And a large selection of breakfast foods, too, and coffee drinks, too. So many choices! A few folks and I stared at the display cases, transfixed, not sure what to order, as everything looked so good. We joked amongst ourselves, what to choose, what to choose? I opted for an iced vanilla latté and a BLT (it had been years since I had a BLT and I was feeling nostalgic). I went outside to a sunny table and soon after a lady brought my order to me. The sandwich was perfect: lots of crispy bacon (not greasy at all. Bonus!), perfectly toasted bread with just the right ratio of mayo, lots of fresh tomato slices and lettuce. It was exactly how I would've made it (if I had the time and inclination to make it, lol!). And my coffee was pretty good, too. Nice cafe resting stop from walks along the water, in Coal Harbour, near the Waterfront Bayshore Hotel / across the street from Cardero's A wide variety of desserts and coffee styles offered. It was the perfect pit stop for a friend and I taking a quick break during a rainy day walk. The cookies are massive & I must say the best one of the lot is their hazelnut chocolate chip cookie (which also has some caramel inside)! A truly decadent cookie that is totally worth the calories! I only also their ginger and peanut oatmeal cookies which were good but not as unique as the hazelnut chocolate chip caramel cookie!! I'll be coming back specifically for THOSE!! It is a nice little place overlooking the marina with indoor and outdoor seating. We went for our morning coffee multiple times. The coffee was nice and strong and we were able to get steamed milk on the side. Their almond croissants were delicious. Also liked their chocolate chip cookie. The staff is courteous and keeps the place clean. They have breakfast items as well as other items to choose from. I've had my eye on this place for a while since the location is so nice and upon entering I was immediately impressed with the huge selection. On the sweet side, they have cheesecakes, Swiss rolls, tarts, croissants, and more, and lots of sandwiches and quiches on the savoury side. The cafe is also super cozy inside with a good amount of outdoor tables. The interior sort of reminded me of a hotel lobby in a good, nostalgic way! The staff was nice as well. I wouldn't say it was loud inside, but there were lots of families and conversation happening, so it's not really the place for working, but definitely a good place to catch up with a friend or relax by yourself. I had a smoked salmon sandwich, mulled apple cider, and pumpkin cheesecake brownie. I will admit the sandwiches looked a little plain in the case, but they grill it up for you and the end result was a simple but delicious sandwich. There wasn't anything super unusual about them but I really like the rolls they use, I thought the texture was pleasant and the flavour was light but wholesome. The portion size was satisfying and they didn't skimp on the salmon. They also serve the sandwich with a small slaw salad. Apple cider was good, spiced enough to make it interesting but not too strong. The pumpkin cheesecake brownie - basically a pumpkin cheesecake with a thin brownie crust - was very good. The cheesecake had a nice texture and strong pumpkin flavour, and the brownie was smooth and fudgy, with pumpkin seeds studded throughout. The ratio of brownie to cheesecake was perfect for the cheesecake to be the star with the brownie adding a little something extra. For everything, the price was really good for the size! If this is rated a 3.5 it's not because of the food, but because of the service experience. The croissants are perfecto (any type of croissant), the americanos are excellent, and the food is good. The service is friendly; however, given the melting pot that is Vancouver, I had to repeat myself a few times as to what I needed so clearly things are "lost in translation." Resulting in an over toasted bagel that was not edible, a frozen breakfast wrap that was not heated up, and a few misunderstandings in line. Typical cafe environment, but with a beautiful view of the marina just across the quiet sleepy street. The entire city ensconced in fog and cloud. read more

OMG!! FIrst time going in and boy did they have a great selection to choose from. I got a gluten free chocolate cookie and a lemon tart. Both cost just under $10.00 and quite frankly worth every penny. The gluten free chocolate cookie was a cross between a gooey chocolate chunk brownie and a macaron if you can picture that and the lemon tart...out of this world. A surprise multi layer inside that consisted of a surprising light zesty mousse. Lemon curd and topped with the most perfect merengue. I was looking for a place to grab a light lunch, good coffee, with free wifi, and the the concierge at the Westin Bayshore highly recommended this cafe. There were plenty of food choice: sandwiches, quiches, pastries, you name it. They had a long list of coffees available too. I ordered the spinach and feta quiche and a grande cappuccino, and holy cow grande means GRANDE. The quiche came with a small salad and was very tasty, and I really enjoyed my cappuccino as well. The wifi was quick and there were plenty of tables to sit at and work. The issue I had with this place was that it was so hot inside. It was a crisp fall day so I had some layers on, but I stripped down as much as I could and was sweating sitting inside this cafe. What you think about Cafe Villaggio probably depends on what you wanted out of it. If you were looking for a great sit down place for lunch or even a fast hearty lunch, you'll probably be disappointed. If you were here ordering pastries or the prepared savory foods, it's good and it's well priced. I've had their macaroons multiple times and they are always good (not spectacular but good). This time over the course of a few days staying nearby we also had their lemon tart and the chocolate swiss roll. The lemon tart was fine, it tasted good but I'm not sure I'd get it again. The chocolate swiss roll was very good though, I'd certainly get that again. We also had their chicken curry and a quesadilla. The chicken curry was good, just takes a bit and the chicken quesadilla they made alterations to special for our daughter, which was a nice touch. They were all good, but I don't know I'd go there for lunch often. We also got a croque monsieur for a quick brunch/breakfast and that was great. They heated it up, it was ready to go fast, it was inexpensive and it was very good. The same holds true to their other breakfast sandwiches I've had before. In short, I'd go there for coffee, for a quick grab breakfast/brunch, and for dessert any time I'm back. I am so confused by this place. It's in the middle of Coal Harbour, across from Cardero's. Overlooking the water, major views, it's just a stunning part of Vancouver. So I'm expecting... From the name... A cute little Italian coffee shop where I can get some breakfast midday and enjoy the view. Well.. The address is wrong (front door says 1510). Seating is weird... In that the views are obscured mostly by columns, tables, an extra door, weird set up. I find bench seating around the corner - yay - but it's dirty and poorly maintained. Everything needs a good scrub, paint, refresh. Someone has done half-assed patches and repairs over the years, and it makes it look worse than if they'd just left it. There's a chunk missing from a corner of a wall, and I'm scared to sit on the padded bench seats. No one else seems to care, so I feel a bit Twilight Zone -y. Is it really just me? Food: there's good and not so good here. Lots of pastries, they cook themselves, there's tea, coffee, smoothies, etc, standard stuff. I order something where I don't want toast, and the staff member automatically changes my order so that I'm charged less. Nice. When the food comes though... Cup has black finger marks on the inside, and the eggs... Are pink. In many places. This just isn't right. I eat the bacon and have an allergic reaction to... I don't know what. I'm allergic to strawberries, and I see none anywhere. Customer service: you can tell the staff take pride in their work, and truly want to serve. It's refreshing. Having said that, I had to repeat myself a lot due to language barriers. WiFi: couldn't stay connected consistently, even with another user saying it's always good just a few days ago. Only saw one plug for laptops, perhaps there's more hidden away, I didn't search. I wanted to love this place, I wanted to make it my new "office". I just can't. Came across this place by chance as our original choice of 6 Degrees next door was closing. So many yummy looking desserts and savoury items available and on display. Decided to split a breakfast wrap (it was 3pm) with my friend and we both had a grande cappuccino. The wrap was perfect and they cut it for us so we could share it. It consisted of egg, ham and cheese and it was delicious. The cappuccino was one of the best I have had. The foam on top was perfect and I sprinkled chocolate and cinnamon on top too. There's a part of me that wants to give this a bad place a review. Being my favourite coffee shop, because of the never failing wifi, big tables, empty space, and amazing view of the harbour. I feel like I want to keep it a secret from anyone else. :) Love the 3 star reviews it currently has. The staff is very friendly, and as a regular for the past month they always make sure I receive a cheerful farewell/goodbye every time I leave. The lattes are bigger/better/cheaper than Starbucks or any other coffee shop I've studied at. After trying to find one for a year that isn't crowded and I can finally get things done without the wifi failing on me, I've been blessed to have found this place. Anyway. There is no stopping me from not stopping in here! Man, those cakes and pastries make me wish calories accounted for nothing. Just in case you have never seen the little cakes and pastries made here, they are exquisite. The baker has, if anything, a TALENT for cake decorations. Oh, they are delicious as hell too. The Guette (thick chocolate cake with raspberry jam) is my favourite so far. That's only because I haven't tried everything! We bought the Pistachio cheesecake for my dear mother's birthday last month. The cake was lovely, but we were just not completely in love with the flavour as we thought we might be. However, it was as good as it can be and we still enjoyed every bite of it! The next person might very well disagree and say this is the best cake in the shop. Summer time is smoothie time. Located right by the bay. We were in that area early in the morning and wanted something for a picnic in Stanley park. Choice: we had smoked salmon sandwich, maple basket (maple and nuts pastries) and almond milk latte. The pastry and sandwich were both delicious. Sandwich also came with side of greens with yummy balsamic vinegrette dressing. Pluses are location, big window looking out the water and mountain is pretty gorgeous, baked goods Minuses for decidedly weird service, ok coffee and rather expensive light meal. The cashier and barista are pleasant but definitely not friendly or memorable. Coming from Seattle, I'm just spoiled by how coffee shop always makes you feel right at home. Nice location for this little cafe. We came across it while out for a walk (we were also looking for a breakfast spot). There are a surprising number of tables and it seemed quite busy. We both had lattes (good, reasonable size). My friend had a breakfast sandwich which he felt he paid a little much for. I had a BELT which was a bacon and egg salad sandwich? Random but tasty. This isn't a destination spot but it did the trick for a quick and easy breakfast. Would have been better if they cleaned off the tables a bit more frequently.
