Turkish coffee, shakshouka with bread, flat white and mimosa for two.
    Bowie T.

Came for Sunday brunch at 2pm and the place was full! Greeted and promptly added to a waitlist and after five minutes, seated quickly. Ordered a mimosa, flat white with oat milk, Turkish coffee and shakshouka to share. Pros: - delicious food and drinks which came out quickly - attentive service with a brief and delightful explanation of Turkish coffee and the Turkish delight it came with (BTW, a must try if you've never had the chance to) - very cute decor with portrait art all over the walls Notes: - we walked from the apartment, but the inside streets in that English Bay Area has some free residential parking if you're okay with a bit of a hunt - there are dining tables and seating available outside, but not heated - signs posted at the tables to be mindful of the limited seating and to try to limit stay to an hour

Super cute and super tasty. It's small so depending on what time you get there it could be a wait, but they are good about moving the tables along to accommodate others while not rushing anyone in the process. Of note, they aren't really able to accommodate substitutions but they went out of their way to accommodate my request anyway, which I appreciated. The tater tots are perfect which were the highlight for me. They also have a nice selection of tea drinks which I liked as most focus only on coffee. Definitely recommend checking out if in this area.

I am always looking for places to go for brunch. Café Portrait is quite nice if you are in the West End, with lots of portraits (hence the name), it almost feels like being in an art gallery. The names of the dishes on the menu are quite fun, especially if you are an art lover. I ordered the Modigliani benedict: smoked salmon eggs benedict. A bit simple, I wish I could have had salad instead of tater tots. I also a strawberry matcha latte. It was quite weak in strawberry and matcha flavour. I saw someone who ordered it and had a lot more strawberry, I guess I was unlucky. Might give it another try.

Love this cafe, great staff and coffee. If you are able to sit inside and enjoy a nice brunch highly recommend - cool art and vibes :)

A very cozy and nicely decorated cafe on Denman street. Staff were nice and attentive. Service was fast. Food and drinks slightly pricy averaging about $28 per person for brunch. I thought the presentation was nice but did find the food to be slightly under seasoned. Overall I would recommend giving this place a try, but I'm not sure if I would revisit any time soon.

This place has not only great food but wonderful art on the walls and on each table. Apparently the portraits are done by the owners father. It's a pretty small place, most tables are for two but there are two tables where you can fit four or cramp five. The atmosphere is wonderful and on a public holiday we only had to wait 10 minutes for five. All the food looks really good. I had the monet which is an eggy skillet with three eggs and beef sausage around the sides and tomatoes. Great flavour. I also had a bit of the Shakshuka which had great tomato flavour. The other dishes looked great too like the French toast with ice cream. Would definitely recommend.

TLDR: they took a bit long to take our orders, the food is 10/10, the restaurant itself is cute, the food is all +$20 for brunch so it's on the expensive side. Would recommend

Amazing food! Turkish coffee was delicious and best chai latte!! The setting is a cool vibe and service was kind and attentive.

Cafe Portrait's food taste excellent!! I love that the food was fresh. It's made with fresh simple ingredients. They're not overwhelming, just the right amount of spice and taste. The food came to us hot. I really loved the beef ravioli. The yogurt on top added a fresh taste. It was soft, cooked well and it was such a comforting dish which I tried to eat slowly as to savour the dish. I would say that the apple was okay. I wish the apple taste was stronger. My friend got the crème brûlée tea. That one smelled amazing and had a stronger taste. The shakshuka was also delicious and I can confirm that if you dip the tater tot in the shakshuka, that it is also a good experience The place was filled but we didn't wait that long. The portraits in the cafe is such a lovely theme. It's definitely a unique brunch spot. Hopefully you guys get to go there! I'm planning to have the carbonara next time.

Sunday 11:00 am Cute place. So cozy. Fresh, delicious, great presentation, and service. Great location. Parking meters along the street and a pay parking lot across the street. Seating for approx 22 people. We were seated, reviewed the menu, and walked up to the counter to order. Guests are beginning to list their namesnow on a waitlist.

Save for the next time you want to grab brunch with friends or go to a cafe. The owner and the staff were friendly and the service was great. While the cafe is relatively small, it's cozy and decorated with numerous portraits. It is definitely a Insta worthy cafe. We ordered: Turkish Coffee $5.25 Latte $5.5 Monet Plate $17.45 Pistachio Danish $6.50 Almond Croissant $6.25 At certain times they tend to have long wait times so try to go during non rush hour times.

I came with my friend on a weekday and managed to snag the last cardamom buns. They don't serve matcha anymore and I'm not a big coffee drinker so I ordered the ginger honey yuzu soda instead. My friend got a cookie and an iced mocha. The staff were super nice so no complaints there! As for ambiance, they had a few seats outside and what looked like a huge space under the stairs for seating but they had blocked that area off as they're turning it into a retail section - seems a bit strange for me as when the summer is over people won't want to sit outside anymore so it will have to be a to-go model. The cookie was good, but I was really disappointed in the cardamom bun. It was $7 and barely had any flavour - it seems like it's made with whole wheat flour and didn't have enough cardamom or sugar in my opinion so I only ended up eating half. The yuzu drink also wasn't good. The ginger pieces got stuck in my straw immediately and the whole drink just tasted like ginger and soda water, there was no other flavour or sweetness in it. My friend also didn't really enjoy her drink. Overall this spot was a big disappointment given how many amazing cafes we have

It's my first time here. It's busy. Lots of seats. They have a glass covered patio, which is a nice extension. I ordered a double shot of ice espresso. It was a warm day but needed caffeine. I like they have lots of choices of sweets and donuts and their portions are big. The tables are small though, and a bit cramped inside, unlike what I'm used to at Main St. There's also minimal wall outlets for laptops or phone charging. So make sure you have your devices charged before coming here to work or study. Outside it's walking distance from other stores snd restaurants. It's a nice commercial neighborhood. I recommend visiting it after going to the beach down the hill.

I am writing this review because my email to them went unanswered…read more I am shocked and disappointed at the way I was treated after spending $40. I am a HUGE 49th fan and love their dougnuts and coffee. Whenever I have friends in town, or someone needs a suggestion on where to visit, I always say "49th has really good coffee and doughnuts". Unfortunately, my mind has changed, and I don't see myself ever recommending this location. As an avid coffee drinker, I am pretty picky on where I choose to have coffee and love the cafe culture in Vancouver. My mom loves doughnuts and we had come all the way from Langley for a day in Kits, so I recommended we go to 49th! I spent about $40 on 4 doughnuts, 2 maple sea salt lattes and a drip coffee. The maple sea salt lattes looked beautiful and my doughnut was delicious as usual (big fan of the french crueller). Unfortunately, our maple sea salt lattes were very very strong and had no maple or sea salt flavoring in my opinion. I decided to ask the girl at the register if we could please get a different drink because it was super strong and didn't taste good. I was met with SO much attitude, i was actually shocked. I went into it very friendly and politely asked for an alternate drink as i did spend $12 on these two drinks (and life gets expensive!!). She then goes "well, you probably don't like the taste of coffee then".... I actually didn't know how to respond. But i did say "I'm a huge 49th fan and love coffee!". Then I had asked how many shots are in the small and she said "2". I then had asked if we could get a new/different drink and she goes "I'll give it to you this one time, but next time you'll have to pay." This is NOT the way to treat a paying customer. It felt so rude and accusatory. I very rarely come to Kits, so she wouldn't have recognized me and am an honest girl who works hard for my money. When the customer comes up politely, you offer to make it right. I hope the next person that comes up not satisfied with their drink is treated a lot better than how I was.

The space is beautiful, very bright with high ceilings. And the selection of pastries was impressive. Opted for a latte and a croissant. Finally walked over and after several exchanges, determined it was our coffees. I provided the pager and said it did not go off. The attendant then reached down and activated it. Nice. No apologies. Unfortunately, it was not the same. I was glad to see the same amazing pastries and tarts and sandwiches, all fresh and beautifully displayed in the display case. I ordered a croissant and it was superb as usual. I also ordered one of thier baguettes to bring home. My kid and I think SV has the best baguettes in the city. They are crusty on the outside, soft yet chewy inside, and just consistently perfect. This one was as good as all the others we've had from here. Yeah! I wanted an Earl Grey tea which IMO is a pretty basic order. Surprisingly, they did not have it. I got a green tea instead (their tea selection was very limited). And the girl who took my order, as well as the girl who rang me up at the cash, could NOT have been more aloof. I smiled and tried to make a little small talk, especially with the girl at the cash when I took out my debit card and asked how to pay (she just pointed at the tap symbol on the machine but my card is not tap-enabled. I always joke with people about this). This girl would not even look at me. Zero eye contact. No "thank you", nada. I just got really cold vibes from the two of them there at the counter. (At least when I picked up my tea at the beverage counter, the guy there made eye contact and semi smiled). (Side note: the staff at the Yaletown site have always been super pleasant and friendly, and this really makes a difference. To me, anyhow). Contrary to another reviewer's posting, the restaurant and the washroom was very clean when I visited here. No issues there. Honestly, I'm not sure I'll return to this site. There are so many cafes and bakeries around, I'd rather go to one with a warmer vibe. Or stay with my Yaletown SV.
