Pie Time - Flaky and savory!

I've been patronizing this spot since it was a tent under a bridge. It's excellent…read more I just returned from picking up my CSA at the shop, and I was reminded of the importance of places like this. Pie Time remains a bastion of the community, supporting local farms with a seasonal menu while offering a curated selection of well-crafted goods. I love the pies here, but other baked goods, like donuts and peach tarts often posted on their social media, occasionally steal the show. Their coffee is similarly creative, offering innovative lattes. You'll have to read about that in another review, though, because I stick to the flavorful Americano. This place is a gem; you'll see me here once a week. There's no other place like it.

The menu has a large sign saying whole milk only, but it wasn't until after I ordered that I saw you could swap for oat milk for 50 cents. I wish that sign was bigger. The food was cold and took a long time to heat up/ seemed like the workers were put out that we wanted hot food... I was not impressed by the service despite the fact that the place itself is cute. It felt like just being there was a hassle. I liked how different the flavors are, and I really enjoyed my key lime pie and appreciated that they had their list of vendors public. I thought the coffee and pie was... fine for the price. I don't think I would go here again.

Affogatto Cafe' - a great find on a Sunday morning. I was in the area getting fishing advice from a…read morenearby tackle shop and happened to discover this cozy café just around the corner. They serve Black Acres beans (a favorite of mine) and some seriously good croissants. I kept it simple with a standard latte and a butter croissant. The café has window bar seating inside and a couple of outdoor tables, making it an easy, comfortable place to slow down. The barista was friendly and even shared helpful fishing spot info. The interior has a cozy, minimalist style, and with Sunday morning light, the whole place felt like a warm, relaxed place to be. From what I could tell, there's space in the back to meet and greet the cats. I'm not in the market to adopt, but for anyone who is, this seems like the place to connect with a new purring family member. Worth a visit if you're in the area!

Espresso machine was down when I showed up, go figure. Workers were definitely empathetic about the loss, a shame!! Hope it got back up and running soon after. The pastry selection looked awfully familiar (I remember you from last year chocolate croissant), and they confirmed Ovenbird was the culprit. Their butter croissant was absolutely delicious and huge!! Raspberry Matcha Latte was decent, nothing extraordinary. After all, I wanted espresso. Kitties are (always) adorable & from local shelters. (employee sits in with you the entire visit, understandably)

A jerk of a manager, who goes above and beyond in making his customers feel unappreciated. The only reason this place is still open is because they are close to some of the people in the building; if it weren't for winters in Baltimore and time-constraints, no one would come here. Every time I go, I am reminded that the extra 5 minute walk to any other restaurant is worth the better lunch and friendlier service. Unrecommended with extreme prejudice.

What's wrong with me?…read more This is like one of those bad relationships that you keep going back to because it's convenient rather than because you truly like them. Food is expensive and mediocre at best. The manager is so incredibly rude and mean to not only her employees (I don't think there has been a day that I haven't seen her yelling at her employees and giving them evil looks in front of all the customers) but also to her customers! The last time I was here I ordered a hot water for my tea (I bought my own bag). The cashier didn't have a chance to ring me up yet and I asked if the hot water cost any money. The manager yelled from 10 feet away, "YES OF COURSE IT COST MONEY. IT'S 50 CENTS!!!! CAN'T YOU READ THE BOARD?" WHOA WHOA there...I told her to calm down as it's only 8 in the morning and she didn't need to catch an attitude because I never said I wasn't going to pay. If you have such a hate on life then maybe you should stop working in the food industry or better yet, stop being around people. The other employees have always been courteous and nice so far. So I feel bad for them having to work around such a tyrant. Her attitude as a manager has caused such a low rating because the leader of the ship makes the difference. Also the 10 oz cups are only 6 oz. Why advertise it as such when you are clearly lying? This was the last straw, so I'll not be coming back.
