I decided to finally give it a try. It's super cute inside! Definitely one of those aesthetic coffee shops. I was surprised on how empty it was inside (only 1 additional customer working on her laptops). I expected the place to be busy considering that it's right across the street from the law school. I ordered the Iced Caramel Macchiato and by far, it is one of the best I've ever had!! I didn't see a food menu and the pastry display was empty. If you want clean coffee and clean food, I suggest reconsidering Olivia Coffee. I worked at Olivia Coffee for approximately two months, and my experience was extremely disappointing. I found the workplace unprofessional, felt I was not properly trained, and did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously. I was criticized for making a coffee I had only learned how to prepare three days earlier. Instead of receiving proper guidance and support as a new employee, I felt more attention was given to my mistakes than to helping me learn and improve. My biggest concerns were cleanliness and food safety. I repeatedly observed flies around the drink preparation area and landing on top of the pastries being served to customers. If you visit Olivia Coffee, pay attention to the pastry display and drink preparation area, as I personally observed flies in these areas. I reported this directly to the owner and was told an exterminator would be contacted. However, I never saw the issue resolved, and the owner did not respond further to my concerns. I also have written messages regarding concerns about moldy sandwiches. An employee reported customer complaints about moldy sandwiches and mentioned a customer's sandwich that was moldy during my last shift. The owner acknowledged seeing a returned sandwich and responded that if another one was found, everything should be removed. An employee expressed concern that someone could eat the food without realizing it was moldy and said a quality check should be performed. I am including a photo of a sandwich with a dark, fuzzy-looking spot on the bread that concerned me. I cannot confirm what the spot is from the photo alone, but, combined with the messages about the reported mold concerns, it raised serious questions for me about food quality and handling. I also personally witnessed a managers take drugs from a customer while on shift. I reported what I witnessed directly to the owner, but I did not observe any action being taken in response to my report. I found this concerning and felt that serious workplace issues were not being addressed. Additionally, I have concerns about unequal treatment and potential anti-Black bias in the workplace. I felt that white employees received more training, better treatment, and more patience than I did. I observed white employees make drinks incorrectly without receiving the same level of criticism I experienced. I was criticized for a drink I had only learned to prepare three days earlier, while I felt other employees were given more room to learn from their mistakes. After going nearly two weeks without being scheduled, my employment was terminated due to performance concerns and scheduling limitations. Two white employees had been hired and scheduled before my employment ended. Considering the differences in training and treatment I experienced, these circumstances left me questioning whether I was treated fairly as a Black employee. Customers deserve clean food and drinks, and employees deserve proper training, respectful treatment, and management that takes legitimate concerns seriously. Based on my experience, I would encourage customers and prospective employees to consider these concerns before deciding to visit or work here. I hope management takes these issues seriously and makes meaningful improvements. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. The sandwiches had mold on them, there were flies everywhere, the bathrooms were disgusting, and the trash cans were overflowing. On top of the unsanitary conditions, the customer service was terrible. The entire experience was unacceptable, and the lack of cleanliness and basic customer service is extremely concerning. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

I won't be back and it's because the coffee wasn't good. It's the service. I ordered a latte that was listed as one price in the menu but showed a different price when it was put in the system. I asked the server why and she had an attitude and suggested I was looking at something different. When I asked her to please correct it, she said well we need to change the menu because it hasn't been updated with new pricing. Okay? That sounds like in the mean time you should honor the price on your menu. I stopped by Coffee Olivia before catching an Amtrak train and grabbed a couple of lattes. It's a convenient spot if you're looking for a quick coffee on the go, and the location makes it an easy stop before traveling. The coffee was good, but it felt more like a chain coffee shop than a specialty café. The syrups appeared to be standard rather than house-made, so it didn't have the craft coffee experience I was hoping for. During my visit, my iced latte had quite a bit of ice, and when the lid was put on, some of the espresso spilled over the sides of the cup. The cup was quickly wiped off and handed to me, which was a little disappointing. Overall, it's a convenient option if you're nearby and need a quick coffee, but I'd probably explore other local coffee shops first if I had the time. read more

Immediately upon entering the place is warm, inviting, quiet and smells so good. I searched Yelp for Matcha near me. Olivia Coffee was a short 5 minute walk from my office. I went with a sweetened hot matcha latte. The pastry display was empty and I didn't ask if they had anything. The coffee dip is small, hosting about 4 small tables and 1 long community table. While waiting one lady said to her friends "the coffee here is fire", that got me excited My matcha was ready within minutes, first sip, it's warm and only okay. Nothing special about it at all, but it served its purpose. I love quaint cafes and this is one of them. Its easy to miss but I just happened to be driving by. They opened a year ago. We had 3 items: caramel macchiato, chai tea with oat milk, and an apple turnover. - caramel macchiato: 6/10. It had a strong and smooth espresso taste but only a hint of caramel. It was hot and the warmth lasted long enough to enjoy the entire cup. -chai tea with oat milk: 10/10. Excellent taste and vibrant flavor. It was smooth and the chai was bold. -Apple Turnover: 9/10. Really great for a coffee shop pastry. Not too sweet and a good portion. I ask for it to be warmed. -Atmosphere: small yet, well appointed space. There are several tables with 2 seats and a larger table for groups. It was clean (bathroom included). Note for parents or those who may bring infants: the bathroom does not have a changing table. Got a vanilla latte here and it was TO DIE FOR. SO DELICIOUS! Olivia Coffee is a cute and charming coffee shop right on the corner street. Parking isn't great in the area but the coffee makes it totally worth it! There wasn't any wait and we got our coffee right away! Stumbled upon this shop after leaving the nail salon and so glad I did. I almost didn't want to write this review to keep this place to myself. It's a small and quiet coffee shop, which is exactly what I was looking for. It also has lots of plant supplies and plants. I'm not sure if the person working that day was the owner, he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the products offered. He was patient with me as I decided on what to order and informed me that the coffee I chose was from Nepal. While I spent some time working, a few frequent customers came in and I only know this because the employee remembered their orders. There was also someone who came in about an issue they had with a product from the store and he exchanged it with no questions/charge. Bonus points for parking being easily available! Went to Olivia Coffee for a noon pick-me-up. The shop was quant and quiet, with a clean atmosphere and nice decor. Coffee was great - I had an iced honey latte with oat milk which was perfect to beat the heat! One thing I was disappointed by was their pastries (not sure if they're made in house or outsourced). They apple turnover lacked flavor and the chocolate croissant was a bit dense. Still good enough to eat, but I've had better. Overall an enjoyable experience and I'd come back. read more

Olivia Coffee is such a lovely addition to the Mount Vernon landscape. The owner is Nepalese (I need to catch his name) and the inside of the shop is cute, with tables for working. The coffee menu is small but honestly, you don't need a ton of options when the coffee is good and not burnt (looking at you, Starbies). Oh and they have a small case for baked goods (croissants, muffins, etc) This is an excellent option for those who are tired of giving their money to union busting Starbies. The owner is so sweet. If you enjoy Dooby's but find it is a lor too much of a hike, Olivia Coffee is the solution. They have cold brew, espresso, black tea lemonade, and matcha. Almond milk, soy milk and oat milk for the dairy free bbys. Plus they have a reward card! Buy 9 drinks, get the 10th free. I'm looking forward to patronizing this place for a long time. Meh. Go elsewhere. First, as I walked up, it appeared closed and the lights seemed off. It's 9:50am on a Saturday, hours say open. So I pulled on the door, and it was indeed open but the lights were indeed off. So the lights are equipped with motion sensors, and as soon as I entered the space, the lights turned on. The 1 guy working in the back had been sitting on his phone for so long the lights had turned off. Yikes! So it's a bad impression right off the bat. You should be tidying up, cleaning a restroom, anything, but sitting on your phone in the back, hidden from the public, long enough for the lights to turn off is not a vibe. The 1 guy working was dressed in what seemed like pajamas and looked like he did not want to be there at all. I ordered a cappuccino with a muffin & croissant. He grabbed the croissant & muffin and put them in a bag and slid it across the counter. I said, "Can I get them heated up in the oven right there or does the oven not work?" He said, "I mean, yeah I can heat them up but it's going to take 10 minutes." "Yes, please heat them up." Why would you assume I don't want your highest quality you can offer? Why would you not even ask? Why would you make me feel like a thorn in your side for wanting a warm muffin? I had a 45 minute Zoom meeting ahead of me before I caught a train, I had 10 minutes to give for a warm breakfast, but you made me feel like a nuisance. Well, he's not kind and it was not just me. Customer after customer, you could see he would not even acknowledge people. There was a city worker that came in and he didn't look his way, didn't say 'ill be right with you,' didn't lend a smile, absolutely nothing. The city worker let's out a huff, shifts a little, and the ambiance you could tell was just terrible with this person completely avoiding eye contact. Another person walked in, was ignored, and walked out a moment later without ordering - a lost sale because of bad customer service. Music was not on, which also made the vibe lack even more. Ambiance has so much potential, location is prime, prices are reasonable. I will not be back because this employee made customers on 9/30/2023 feel like they were annoying him by walking into the coffee shop to spend money - and that's not how it should be. read more

Olivia Coffee gives me similar vibes to Aveley Farms Coffee Roasters! It's very clean and minimalistic, although one of my friends think it's a bit too clean, almost clinical. I ordered a normal latte with almond milk. Full stop, the foam was divine -- so copious and freaking FLUFFY. However, my friends were more critical. One ordered the Pistachio Chai Latte, but she said it missed the pistachio flavor and just tasted like a normal chai latte. The other ordered a White Chocolate Mocha and didn't have many thoughts on the taste. Other notes: the available drink options are unique but there isn't much of a selection outside of lattes or mochas. There weren't a lot of pastry options. Service is kind and fast. I love this little coffee shop. Theres always been prompt service when I've stopped by. The space is clean and smells good, as there are many candles in shop for purchase. I also like that the store has its own merchandise for sale as well as items for plant lovers. The menu for drinks and food items is short however the options are well crafted. It's a tiny coffee shop across the street from a university building. It seems like mostly students and professors frequent this coffee shop. The coffee was decent and the atmosphere was very relaxing. I'd come back just for the nice environment. The only thing is that it's a relatively small space so if you're trying to concentrate on something, it might be difficult due to the conversations happening around you.
