I saw this place on a Tik Tok and it looked so good I saved it and on my recent trip to Toronto I stopped by with my friend. I got the fluffy soufflé pancakes and the consistency reminded me of the japanese cheesecake uncle Tetsu's but in pancake form. It also reminded me a bit of whip cream but if whip cream were a bit more solid. Very good and worth trying. I also got karaage chicken to share and although they were a bit dry for my taste I loved the sauce they came with. Really added to the flavours. I came here for brunch at 10am on a Sunday morning and boy was it packed. Because I did not book a reservation (which I didn't know I could even do) and I did walk in, I was limited to seating by the bar or outside on the patio. The patio didn't look as appealing so I chose the window bar seats. The staff checked my vaccination record and ID before I sat down but when my friend came later, they forgot to check hers. The ordering system here is quite efficient as they do not have servers coming around to take your order, instead your in the area where you sit you can find a number labelled and you scan the QR code by your seat to open the ordering form. You will need to input the number where you're sitting for them to know whose order it belongs to. I read the reviews here before coming and consensus said food was great but service was lacking. This was also true for my experience here at Cafe N One. We waited quite long for our food. My friend's karaage and mochi waffles came way earlier than my pork belly croissant sandwich. I felt bad as she waited till I received my food to eat and her mochi waffles became hard and cold. There was only one girl being a runner/waiting on/ and serving food and, as I mentioned earlier, it only got more packed as the morning went by. Onto the food: so I was able to try the karaage mochi waffles which is their take on fried chicken waffles for brunch and the mochi waffles were definitely interesting but they go hard much quicker as it cools down and also gets too chewy. Good creative thought/idea but poor execution. I would much prefer soft fluffy waffles instead. The karaage on the other hand was PERFECTLY seasoned and cooked well. I have no complaints there. It was actually very very delicious. If they sold that as is on the side, I would definitely come back to just purchase a box of karaage and be very happy. The pork belly croissant sandwich that I had ordered was actually pretty darn delicious. Even with the long wait I was extremely satisfied with the food. It really made up for the lack of service. I'm even surprise to say that the food made it worth it. It was a very well balanced sandwich with tang, sweetness, crunchiness, freshness, and savoury flavours. Everything you would expect in a well thought out good sandwich was there. I also ordered the matcha green tea latte with oat milk and it was very tasty as well. The souffle can take a while to make, we ordered this one first and the menu says it's a 30-minute wait. I thoroughly enjoyed the matcha and red bean souffle pancake, which was such a delight. The pork belly croissant combo was great too. Both are great in taste but not super filling. The matcha cream puff was a disappointment. I've had many puffs, usually, I'm looking for a soft cream, but they declare theirs should be ice cream filling. I was THIS close to giving up on moving to a separate location (I'm sorry, this girl just needs to be fed) and almost settled for something quick, dirty, and fast - but man, am I glad I held on. Cafe N One is located in an unassuming plaza near First Markham Place. It's a pretty small place - and, in Phase II reopening, is only able to seat ~12 on a few tables in its parking lot near the noisy and busy road. Though the "patio" isn't the best, the food definitely impressed! We shared the wafu carbonara and the karaage moffles. Wafu carbonara This Japanese style fusion carbonara comes with an onsen egg and sprinkled with furikake. It's slightly on the sweeter side but there's an unmistakable kick from the Japanese seasoning. It's actually really good! The spaghetti is al dente, there are crispy bits of thick cut bacon, and the garlic bread is buttery and soft (they use a slice of milk bread). Karaage moffles These waffles are made with mochi and topped with Japanese fried chicken. It comes with two sauces, a spicy mayo and a sweet syrup (it's called su-miso on the menu, but I can't for the life of me figure out what exactly that is). The waffles are very interesting and unique - my only complaint is that they were quite dense and chewy. The karaage was fantastic, particularly when paired wi the syrup. I like that they've gotten rid of physical menus due to Covid. Simply scan a QR code and you can view the menu and send in your order to the kitchen. The fusion menu was interesting and I opted for a Karaage Moffle (mochi waffle). I loved the karaage. It was tender and juicy with the perfect amount of crispiness. The mochi waffle was heavy and chewy as expected. I had one waffle and I was full already! I do not recommend ordering any drinks and just stick with water. Came to this cafe on a whim. We were waiting in line at another cafe for ages and did a quick yelp search to realize that this cafe was very close and had similar ratings. Without a second thought, we drove over to this cafe and luckily got seated right away. We ordered a smoked salmon croissant combo and an egg sandwich with coffee. The egg sandwich came first and wow, was it ever soft. They really know how to make a runny scrambled eggs with cheese. I was incredibly impressed. I devoured the sandwich immediately. Minutes later the smoked salmon croissant came. It came with a salad and potatoes. The potatoes were crispy and on point. The potatoes were so well made there were wisps of crispy on the potatoes. I also enjoyed the croissant. It was excellent with their house brewed coffee. Overall, I had a great brunch experience. I will most likely return. The parking situation is pretty hectic though due the way the plaza was built. They have a pretty decent variety of items on their menu but we ended up with the chicken and mochi waffles and the salmon croissant (upgraded to a meal so now it includes salad and potatoes). Always upgrade. The potatoes were spot on and seasoned well! The croissant was buttery and flakey and I liked the dill in it. On the other hand, I was a bit disappointed with the waffles. The chicken pieces were well fried and juicy on the inside. However, the waffles were so bland. If you do not use the sauces provided, it would've been a slightly chewy piece of bread kinda feeling. But even plain bread have better flavour... The texture of the waffles were good though. Came back here for their pasta, pork belly croissant, and soufflé. Food still tasted great and service was still friendly. However, their portion size have decreased significantly and prices have gone up. The combo used to come with an option to add a drink, unfortunately that is no longer available. For a $20 meal (pasta combo), the amount of ingredients just doesn't add up, i.e. lack of chicken in the curry chicken pasta- it just comes with potatoes and carrots. (I only counted 4 small pieces of chicken.) For the amount I paid, ($80 for 3 people), I'm sure there are better options in the area. They are also doing a 10% discount if you pay cash. There's a very good reason why this place is always packed! The Pulled Pork Croissant is a tasty choice. Pulled pork marinade is sweet and salty (yakiniku sauce used in Japanese BBQ), and goes very well with the house salad that's sweet and tart. But the roasted potatoes aren't lacking either, the sprinkle of sesame adds a nice crunchy texture. Souffle pancakes are all the rage right now so when I was in the area I had to stop by this place that I've had bookmarked forever. They have a very convenient online ordering system. After you place your order there's an area with your order history where you can view your order number and what you ordered. You never have to put in your email, just your phone number. I was expecting some sort of confirmation but didn't receive anything to my phone. Don't worry this is okay as long as it's in your order history because I didn't have a problem with them receiving it. So the souffle pancakes really do take 20 minutes to make. We got there a little bit early and they told us that we basically had to wait outside. They are checking for your vaccine passport before you enter. They have set up plexiglass dividers between tables and there is one patio table outside. I did over hear that someone had a reservation so if you're worried you can always do that. All of the dishes were really unique and had a Japanese spin. We got the creme brulee souffle pancakes. They come with a couple fruit garnishes and some whipped cream. They even had small Gold leaf pieces on the top which was an unexpected but very pretty touch. They did have to travel quite far since we got takeout so maybe they weren't as jiggly as they would have been in store but they tasted great and the texture was amazing. One of the other items that we had was the pork belly croissant. The pork belly was fantastic and everything together with the sauce and the pickles and the red cabbage on a perfectly toasted croissant was great. The last item was the Wafu Carbon pasta. It had Japanese elements in it like a ponzu sauce, nori seasoning, and an onsen egg. Since it was take out they actually had the onsen egg and its own little container. I just poured this on top of the pasta and then let it use in all of its glory all over the pasta before mixing it up. This made it silky and decadent. The last few items I had were a few drinks. The iced caramel macchiato was a very sweet treat and I loved the heaping portion of whipped cream on it. I also tried the black sesame latte. Went for brunch with my sister and had an awesome experience at Cafe N One. I've seen their specials on Uber eats but hadn't ordered from them or gone to the restaurant until now. It's located in a small strip mall near Costco Yorktech, on the west side of Woodbine. They specialize in Japanese inspired brunch and lunch fare, with offerings such as soufflé pancakes, doriyaki pancakes, croissant sandwiches, katsu or pulled pork sandos, pastas, and mochi waffles (moffles) with karaage. Cafe N One is quaint. The restaurant has some window-side bar top seating, as well as tables towards the back of the narrow restaurant, some tables with plexiglass barriers between them. We sat on the small patio which seats up to 8 people. They have patrons scan the QR code for the menu and to place your order. The staff were friendly and responsive. When we had difficulty ordering online, or our patio umbrella was acting up in the wind, or required ketchup, they came quickly and with a smile. We ordered the Pork Belly croissant and the karaage and moffles, an oat milk latte and an almond milk latte. The coffees were good. The entrees both came with salad with a delicious soy vinaigrette dressing. The karaage had a crunchy exterior, and were hot, juicy and flavourful. The moffles were chewy as one might expect from mochi waffles and had a slight sweetness. They were served with a sriracha mayonnaise and a light su-miso syrup. The pork belly croissant was toasted and flaky, with a generous portion of juicy caramelized pork belly, and yellow pickled radish for additional crunch. It came with these amazing crispy mini potatoes with fluffy interiors. It was so good that I got another order to go for my brother. If you order an entree combo, it comes with salad and a brewed coffee, which you can upgrade for $1 to a premium beverage such as a smoothie, latte, or tea. This brunch spot in Markham is always so busy, but is it worth the hype? We had: Wafu carbonara: this dish was decent. Had some flavour from the bacon and parmigiano reggiano. The onsen egg gave it some richness. But even with the egg I found it to be bit dry. The garlic bread was also a lot to include for a meal that's already so carb heavy. Beef saikoro sirloin: (not pictured) this reminded me of Chinese stir fried noodles with less flavour and seasoning. Didn't find it very special Smoked salmon croissant: this was okay, pretty standard flavours with an unimpressive croissant Pork belly croissant: the pickled radish was tangy but the pork belly was a bit dry, and I felt the honey mustard didn't really complement the dish. Had high expectations at this place and I was slightly disappointed. My friends and I ordered the wafu carbonara and smoked salmon croissant. The wafu carbonara has thick-cut smoked bacon, garlic, onion, ponzu, parmigiano reggiano, onsen egg, japanese nori seasoning, spaghetti and comes with garlic bread and a house salad. The fusion of all the Japanese and Italian components with the al dente spaghetti was very rich, sweet and flavorful with great umami and textures. Their was also a lot of black pepper on it which I love in a carbonara. The smoked salmon croissant has smoked salmon, arugula, yuzu salsa, wasabi dill cream cheese. I didn't like this very much because it was very acidic and wet which made the bottom croissant sour and soggy. The croissant sandwich was also a lot smaller then I expected. The pictures make it look pretty big but in reality it's big on a small plate... Maybe the other croissants are better but this one was a huge miss for me. Recently decided to try out Cafe N One after seeing such great reviews. Their menu initially drew me in as it sounded fantastic since it had a lot of Japanese inspired food. However, whilst comparing to other cafe spots in Markham, Cafe N One is just average. Due to COVID, we got our order to go and while the packaging looked appealing; the food lacked flavour and was definitely not worth the price. I ordered the Kaarage Moffle ($16) & Wafu Carbonara ($16) and the Moffle was such a disappointment. Their take on the classic chicken and waffles did not go well with each other. The kaarage tasted like an above average popcorn chicken you'd get at AYCE restaurant while the waffle tasted like an undercooked waffle - leaving a concern how these two items were meant to be paired with each other. The Carbonara on the other hand was not your typical creamy, rich pasta. Their version was exceptionally heavy on the pepper; not that it was bad but it took me by surprise. Other than that, it wasn't really memorable or something you'd crave and get again. Overall, if you're looking to try out a new cafe spot definitely give it a try and see the food for yourself but just be warned that it will not be anything spectacular. read more

Nice little brunch spot in a small little plaza in Markham. I came here on a Wednesday with my husband and it was pretty empty, with only one group dining at the patio outside. Tables were separated by a plastic screen in between. Service was friendly and quick. We ordered the karaage moffles (mochi waffles) and yuzu momo pasta to try. Karaage was juicy and well seasoned. I'd prefer my waffles to be crispier on the outside but since they were mochi waffles , they were chewier than my liking. This was our first visit. We didn't realize there was a cafe across from the Costco on Woodbine in a tiny plaza. We sat outside for the very first time since the province allowed outdoor dining and it was a pleasant day. They sanitized the table chairs for us and we had a half umbrella to shield us from the sun. The kids ordered the Lychee soda and Passionfruit soda which was really good. These are the perfect summer thirst quenching drinks. My hubby and I ordered the coffee and caffe latte respectively. The customer service is good. The food is really good and we loved the presentation. We ordered the Karaage Moffle with waffles, Smoked Salmon Sando and Chicken Katsu sandwich. All the dishes came with salad and the salmon sandwich also had roasted potatoes which were delish. The only thing we thought that could be better was the waffle which was a tad dense. They would taste even better if it was lighter. I also wish the dipping sauce for the waffle was the traditional maple syrup instead of the su-miso syrup. The sauce they used tasted more like caramel (it was overly sweet). They also have homemade ice cream, pasta dishes (which looked really tasty) and pancakes. I visited this cafe on my recent visit to Toronto Metro Area, and was looking for a nice breakfast and coffee. The place is very nice and cozy and the customer experience was great as well though it did take a while for us to get our food (a sandwich - Mushroom Toast and pancake - Doriyaki). This place was an Instagram heaven as you can see from my pictures. However, the food was slightly disappointing to say. It was all very bland and the matcha drink was also pretty meh especially for the prices they charge. I do think the presentation of the food heightens your expectations but they come crashing after you taste it. I give them benefit of the doubt that perhaps the place has better meat options than vegetarian/vegan foods. Not knowing what type of restaurant when I place the order for delivery. Wafu Carbonara with thick cut of bacon, onion also came with a piece of garlic toast, and a salad. Noodles were perfect cooked, garlic toast was extremely surprised me how crispy even after 20 mins delivery time, I am a bread person, it did satisfied me and the 5 stars were given because of that. WFH is boring so gotta spice up lunch to motivate myself to keep working! So we picked Cafe N One for take out today. We ordered the Saikyo Mushroom and Salad which had mixed mushroom, Ibsen egg, Japanese nor I seasoning mushroom penne and garlic bread . We also got the Karaage Moffle : Japanese Fried chicken with homemade mochi waffle, red onion Nanban, Spicy mayo and su miso syrup. Both were great and satisfed different taste buds. I enjoyed the mochi waffle esp with the su miso syrup. It smell so nice and of course taste Soo good! We also ordered the Mango Peach, soda which had mint leaf and boa. It was so good! $16/ragu, $5/soda Spicy Neopolitan Ragu from @cafenone_ ! It was so delicious and had so much Italian sausage at the bottom. Seasoned with roast garlic, sake and yuzu kosho, this ragu pasta was actually too good. It comes with a garlic bread and house salad on the side too! The second pic was the mango peach soda. It came with some peach slices at the bottom and even popping mango boba! This was pretty good, but it lacked the mango flavour. I definitely need to return to try their other food! read more
