My wife left a pair of nice sunglasses at the restaurant the other day, immediately called back and spoke to her server. Her server (very nice) said she had them, took my wife's name, and said she'd put the glasses in a safe place for her. When we returned, no glasses. Just a free for all lost and found basket. Staff seemed sincerely apologetic. The owner could not have copped a bigger attitude with me when his staff member offered for us to talk. "So tell me about your "expensive" (yes, with air quotes) sunglasses. Claimed his server must have "misspoke" minutes after one of his team spoke to her again by phone. "We don't have your glasses. I don't know what you want me to do." Loved the fake Parisian attitude. Won't be dining there again despite living a mile away and many past visits. read more

The cafe was cute but once I got past the obnoxious waiter who continually ignored me, I was finally seated. Eventually they came to take my order. I had the orange mouse with salad and banana bread. Went here for dinner on a Saturday night around 6:30. The best description I have for this restaurant is elderly cafeteria food. The crowd is a bit older and the food is very bland. The waiter was very sweet but service was slow as he was the only one, along with what appeared to be a food runner helping out. All and all... the food is bland, and the menu is lacking. This is a quaint little French cafe located in Buckhead, down the street from Piedmont Hospital. My experience here was pleasant. I was one of two individuals in the restaurant which could be expected since I was dining in the middle of the afternoon at 3:00. I was greeted by my server at the front door and seated next to a bright window overlooking the vibrant shopping center. The white tablecloths were also an added touch. In my opinion, this restaurant looks and feels very similar to French venues and cafes actually in France. In terms of menu and food items, they have a plethora of options and combinations for different taste palates and appetites. I went with the Turkey, apple and brie sandwich with a side salad and chips. The amount of food was quite large as you can see in the photos, I have enough for a complete second meal. My sandwich and salad were quite delicious with lots of elements such as crunch, sweetness, and a little spice from the mustard that all contributed to a well rounded sandwich. The balsamic dressing used for the salad was also very good. The chips were a let down because I anticipated house chips, these were just Ruffles chips so nothing fancy. Based on the previous reviews I decided to try a dessert option to take with me. They had several options from pound cake, espresso cake, strawberry cake, coconut cake, cookies, and muffins but I went with the lemon cake which looks good! I've only tasted the icing this far since I am so full, but it was nice and tart, full of lemon flavors . A quant little spot in the infamous Peachtree Battle Shopping center. A small restaurant that does their best to make you feel as if you left Atlanta and are in a place that slightly resembles France. Even the waiter had accents. What the waiters didn't have however was personality. There was a sign at the door that said please wait to be seated. I only saw two waiters on staff who were busy in the back making drinks etc. after what felt like 5 minutes we were told to pick any table...of course! I was in the mood for brunch and ordered the quiche and water, so I'm not sure if they served alcohol. My friend order the turkey and bri sandwich. Later while we were eating we saw a chalkboard sign in the back with specials on it. Berries and French toast, I read! Damn I wish I had seen that. Thanks no personality waiter for letting us know you had specials! My quiche was average. I thought the portion size was small. The side salad they accompanied it took up most of the plate. Today´s episode was a complete sh!tshow. It took one 20 + minutes to be acknowledged by server #1 and one hour from arrival for our food to be served. Server #1 was new and should NEVER have been allowed to interact with customers. Server #2 was indignant about having to cover for Server #1, and each routinely threw the other under the bus. After 20 minutes of being ignored, my lunch guest and I advised Server #2 that we were ready to order but had not seen our server. He informed us that she was at the bar having a meltdown because she was having to make a mixed drink and didńt know how. We later learned (from the patron) that it was a BLOODY MARY - tomato juice and vodka! - that threw her into a tailspin. Server #1 could not handle a tray of drinks, so she brought out 2 at the time. A nearby table had been seated when we arrived (the Bloody Mary table). The younger woman finally said ¨we have run out of time, so just let us pay for our drinks and we will go...¨ Yep; SKIPPED FOOD and bolted. The party of 4 seated near us remarked that they had not planned for a 2 hour lunch. Our food, as usual, was delicious, but this sh!tshow on the sidewalk has got to end. I will keep a cautious eye on who is working what section and will avoid the hell of these 2 newbies IF they make it to the weekend. read more

Ever since I moved to the West side of town, I've been looking for more breakfast options other than West Egg or Pig & the Pearl. So when I came across Cafe Lapin, I was very excited to try it out. Nothing beats a good French restaurant, right? Located in the middle of a strip mall off Peachtree Rd., this restaurant has some really cute decors. Their jars for sugars are almost all bunny shaped to go with the restaurant's name. Upon arrival, we were given the breakfast menu (it was before 11). The menu was not very extensive but you have the few stables you can find in any restaurant; it's just not very French (then again, I was constantly comparing it to Cafe Alsace). The service was quick and we didn't have to wait for long for the food to come up. I had an omelet and my wife had bacon and eggs. While my wife loved the bacon, I didn't find the omelet too amazing. It was ok. The baguette I've ordered to go with my omelet was way too hard (again, I don't think anyone else can make baguette better than Cafe Alsace). The servers all spoke some Eastern European language (definitely not French) so I guess it must be a family run business. Other than missing one coffee refill, I don't really have anything negative to say about the service. We did have their coconut cake for desert and that piece was very good! Overall, I give Cafe Lapin 3 stars due to its convenient location from my home and the decent service. It didn't get a 4 or 5 because its breakfast menu was lacking in variety and signature. Went there for breakfast it's unbelievable that a French restaurant does not have croissants available in the morning they were still cooking them they said 30 to 45 more minutes. Got the mushroom omelette it was over cook the fruit was pitiful looking terrible presentation and the drinking water they serve me was not regular water it was some type of other water probably tonic water overall not a very good experience. read more

I had a fabulous lunch here yesterday with my best friend. I loved the selection of soups, salads and sandwiches. I chose tomato soup and the ham and cheese panini. Both were wonderful. My best friend had the chicken salad on wheat with an orange soufflé as a side. She let me try it. It was so yummy. I can't wait to be back in town to try another soup. Not much to say here. Felt this place was overpriced and overrated. I came on a Sunday morning for breakfast. I got the Omelette Lapin and ordered a coffee. Service wasn't very friendly or attentive. It was hard to get hold of our server and we had to signal several times to get someone's attention (when we were ready to order for a while/for getting our check) Omelette was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Not too far from the crib, Cafe Lapin piqued my curiosity over the last few weeks.... After venturing inside with work out clothes on and no wallet, I did a mental bookmark and vowed to return to the place at another time. Return, I did. The space is in the Peachtree Battle shopping center. I would be lying if I said this place had any character at all. It just doesnt fit in this location. I hate the set up. Literally, I think its terrible. I did however like their table settings, they have some version of a rabbit on each table (sugar holders I think). I thought that was pretty cool, and an interesting touch. But past that, the service was kind although a tad bit "not as sophisticated" as I'd expect. But I'll give it some time, it looks like they are still working through a few kinks, so it should be interesting in the next few months to watch them grow. But more importantly, lets get to the food. My server suggested one of their many variations of a chicken salad which she described as being really, really good. I tried the Curry chicken & walnut salad. Honestly, it was amazing. The best Chicken salad sandwich in the city. Hands down. The bread was soft and a bit sweet. I am guessing they do all the baking in house. So, so worth the $9 bucks I dropped on the sandwich. I'll definitely be back. Sooner, rather than later. read more

Bad late lunch today. To say I was ignored is an understatement. I had to get my own silverware from an empty table, my own napkin, my own straw, and takeout containers. Had to ask that they take my card to pay several times after getting very bland and inedible goat cheese quiche (tasted no cheese) and barely had any sundried tomatoes--I found one. I asked for a tea and lemonade and got tea w unsweetened lemon juice; almost choked on it. Had to explain to waitress that she had to make their lemon concentrate into actual lemonade to add to the tea. I went there for French onion soup. Didn't have any, though a French restaurant. (Did have chili and chicken tortilla soup which I would go elsewhere for.) Waitress was chatty w others and very distracted. I will go again to get the curried chicken and the orange soufflé takeout but that's it. The place has very much changed and not for the better. BTW I paid heavily for this non-meal. read more

"Lapin"? Cafe Tortue would be more accurate. Fifteen minutes after we ordered a sandwich and an omelette, an Emily Gilmore type sat down at a nearby table, ordered, and was served before our order even came out. Well, perhaps it's a mistake to say that our order did come out. The omelette was ordered with grits and was delivered without them. When we eventually flagged down a server and mentioned the omission, we expected an apology and a small bowl of grits. What we got was a puzzled "Uh? Oh, we're out of grits." Well, that certainly explains the absence of grits. Given that it's around 12:30pm and you serve brunch until 4, what are you doing about it? Are you already making more? Are you out of ingredients and therefore sending someone 200 yards down the strip mall to Publix to get some? Are you even planning to, at some point, offer an alternate side item? Apparently not. "Well, could you bring me something else instead?" we prompted. The server took the hint. Around this time, we noticed three Buckhead Betties standing in line to pay. Some hapless fellow behind the counter was alternately pounding on the credit-card machine and telling someone in the kitchen to get off the phone. I excused myself for a moment, and noticed that the hallway to the bathroom -- and the fire exit -- was blocked to wheelchair users by the presence of a bicycle and a clothing rack both standing in the way. Making sure that only able-bodied customers can use the fire exit is tacky, tacky, tacky. Also illegal, I'd hope. I can think of only one Atlanta restaurant experience we've had that was worse than this, and that one involved medical complications. So, good job, Cafe Tortue, for not poisoning us. Then again, with this kind of customer service, I think I'd die of old age before you got around to it. read more

We stopped in for dinner recently and absolutely loved Café Lapin. I really didn't have high expectations for a French Restaurant in a shopping center, but I was really impressed. The space is pretty nice and rustic. The service was good as well and we were seated right away. I gather it gets a little busier for brunch, but it was pretty slow for a weeknight dinner and we really enjoyed that. The complementary bread was really good and we didn't try any of the appetizers although they all sounded great. I had the scallops with a wine braised risotto and leeks and it was amazing. The scallops were cooked and seasoned perfectly, the reduction of wine in the risotto was perfect, and the leeks were delicious. The sauce for my dish was really good too. My wife ordered the meat loaf which I believe is a staple here and she loved it. It was wrapped in bacon with a tomato glaze and came with whipped potatoes with thyme, roasted carrots, and Brussels. Everything was cooked perfectly on her dish as well. I believe the dinner menu is constantly rotating so I am excited to come back and try more entrees. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert but the pies and cookies looked amazing sitting by the kitchen. I can't wait to come and try Café Lapin for brunch and will definitely be back for dinner soon. read more

I ve had the worst experience at this place for the first time in my life, I came in the morning with my three friends and little girl to have breakfast at this place, the moment we walked into the place the lady didnt even welcomed us she wanted to put us in a small table and squeeze on it with little girl we have, until i asked her if we can sit on the bigger table she was like go ahead and she left, that was one and guess who she was ? the manager, then the server came in he didnt even introduce him self or even say hi and provide good customer service, he asked us right away what to drink, I asked what you do have, he goes like "we have coffee just coffee" the way he said that its like "what do u think we should have of course coffee" i was not happy at all so far with the service, and we didnt like their menu so we decided to leave after ordering coffee we spent only 10mints at that place , when we were leaving the lady came in and said that we have to pay for the coffee we ordered that they didnt even bring it to the table and we didnt even drink, we asked for coffee then after the whole situation we e got treated and the bad service plus the menu we didnt like they wanted us to pay for that coffee that we dont even have on the table. at that moment we told her we cant pay something we didnt get plus we didnt like it in here so why we should, the lady who claims she was the manager started showing her attitude and yelling at us then she kicked us out of the place with little girl we literally we felt that we ve been discriminated because we were the only minority at this French restaurant since we walked in and how we got treated especially by a manager who claims her self the manager. Instead of providing great service and solve the problem and try to make it better and her customers happy she was yelling at us cuz we didnt want to pay for something we didnt even get plus the service just the whole situation and experience was the worst i have ever had in my life i ve recorded everything of this lady how she treated us and i will post so everyone realize how terrible is this place. I've only just discovered this restaurant and have been twice in the last week. If you want delicious food, great service in a quiet environment where you can actually have a conversation with friends w/o yelling, this is your place. You'd never know it as its tucked into Peachtree Battle Shopping Center. Would never expect this experience in a shopping center. Soups - I've had both french onion and cream of mushroom. Both were excellent. The cream of mushroom was a little too rich for me but it was so yummy. Walnut chicken salad is delish. Not too much mayo and mostly all white meat chicken served wtih mixed greens and balsamic. Today I tried the beets and mandarin oranges. Interesting combo and it was great but I wish the oranges had been fresh. Not sure they were. The service is friendly, attentive - excellent. The desserts LOOK outstanding. All made in house. Went here for breakfast so this review is for that. Pros: - Omelette Lapin was amazing. It wasn't as fluffy as I'd expect from a french restaurant, then again, I don't know how fluffy it could be with huge chunks of ham in it weighing it down. - Their salad is really fresh and made with baby greens, I love those - The coffee (latte) was quite good and very strong. - They have daily specials, so you get a solid menu with the added "excitement" of new entrees (don't know how often they change them as I have only been once) - The decor is so stinkin' cute! I mean the bunnies in the balloon in the middle of the restaurant! Adorable! - Overall the food looked and tasted fresh - Grits were good, amazing if you consider it's a french place. Cons: - They use pretty generic tasting dressing for their salad. It doesn't seem made in house. A vinaigrette is so simple to make it's kind of unacceptable. - Croissant was kind of crap, just a step above costco croissants. At a "French" place, I kind of expect more attention paid to a croissant. These seem purchased from sysco. read more

At the urging of friends to join them for brunch, we finally decided to give this restaurant a try. Frankly, we very impressed with the food and the service. Although the restaurant was very busy (recommend you make reservations for brunch), the staff were always pleasant and attentive. The food was great and the serving size was good. Their coffee was a bonus as well. And to wrap up, we decided to cheat a bit and took a slice of coconut cake home- yum! Bottom line, a big thumbs up. I went here for breakfast this morning and walked into this restaurant, which is located in a nice strip mall location. It is very quaint inside and I was greeted and seated immediately. The staff, I found slightly aloof and not very friendly. I ordered a coffee and the mushroom quiche, they came back a few minutes later to let me know they were out of it. I was a bit disturbed by this, as it was their only quiche without meat and it is a french bakery, they should of had it or another veggie option. I ordered the ham and asparagus quiche, the portion was quite small for $10 and the fruit it came with was ok, not the freshest selection. I had to hunt down my waiter for more coffee and the bill. The food was just ok, the service was less than ok, I would not come back here overall. read more

It's been a year that I have lived in Atlanta (Buckhead)... and would faithfully go here for coffee especially on the weekend. I knew that their customer service could be better, but I accepted it because they were a small business and half-way decent. Just recently, they hired someone new and his disposition revealed that he did not like minorities (African American). At first he refused to serve me claiming the coffee machine was broken each morning.... For the first time, he took my order and he over charged me (6.71) and became upset when I tried to tell him that it was the wrong charge since I've been coming for a year. He stated, "what do you want me to do." I decided to leave and wanted to speak with a manager (Stephen) in the next few days which in the past he seemed very nice but awkward. But once I arrived, Stephen ignored me and said, he's very busy and doesn't have time for whatever I had to say. He was very rude and dismissive. I left and vowed to never return again. I wasted a lot of money here. I mean this could be a great place if they were nice to all of the race of people. Believe what the reviews say about they're customer service. I purchased the Living Social deal a few weeks ago for Cafe Lapin. I was curious and the place sounded nice. We went on a Friday night about 8:15. I was surprised to see that they closed at 9pm on Fridays when I walked up to the place. We still went in and the place was virtually empty. A little awkward but perhaps it was just a slow night. The service was great- our server was nice and I think the owner (or someone like the owner) also greeted us. However, the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. It's basically a wide- open space with tables. The overhead lighting was harsh. With the proper lighting and maybe some booths added the place would have potential. My view was not so appetizing- I basically had a view of the back hallway, back door, and restrooms. A curtain is needed badly. One stall in the ladies restroom has no door, and the other toilet did not flush. No complaints about the food- we ordered the pate appetizer, artichoke soup, bacon wrapped meatloaf and NY strip steak. All delicious. Dessert is set up at a separate table and you have to walk up to make your selection. Also- bring your own wine, They did not serve any alcohol so you are encouraged to bring your own. Overall good, but the atmophere and restrooms need improvement. read more

This is, without question, one of my favorite lunch/brunch places in the city. The dinner rocks as well. It is a quintessential small, intimate cafe with a nod to ladies who lunch fare of yesteryear. A few things to get straight: (1) The service is delightfully European...by which I mean the server is not there to be your friend and make you feel good about yourself. If you are a sad, weak person who needs that sort of validation, opt for a tacky chain restaurant, please. (2) It's a small restaurant and the menu changes often...yes, they may run out of something. Put on your big-person pants and deal. Also, if you are a generic bruncher who doesn't know the difference between hollandaise that began its life as a powder and the real thing you really don't deserve to eat here. (The grits/home fries whiners should take heed or better yet move their tacky selves back to Jersey.) And on to the food....the cookies are the best in the city, the chicken salad(s) sandwhiches are divine...go for the baguette, esp the curry and apricot, the soups are always enjoyable, everything is good at dinner. And yes, omlettes and eggs in general are bloody good. This is real cooking, real food and you should go here. read more

Cafe Lapin is a nice French bistro in Buck Head. The food has always been very good at each visit whether we get fish, meatloaf, pork, or duck. Everything we have had has been fresh and well prepared. The real gem in my opinion are the cakes for dessert. Their carrot cake is the best I have had since moving to Georgia from Texas a year ago. We get it every time we come here. Many folks also say the coconut cake is wonderful. They usually have 5 or 6 different types each evening. The only thing I will say is, don't come here if in a hurry. This is a very laid back place and they do not bring out the food quickly. This is a place to sit a while visit with friends or family, and eat and drink like folks do in Europe. The service is very friendly and attentive while you wait. Also, once a month they have live jazz, which is a nice touch. The music was quite good when we caught it a couple months back. read more
