Cafe Blue - Cool coffee shop located at intersection of Boggs and Satellite. This spot has a large footprint. Great sized tables for hanging out, drinking coffee, and getting some work done. Spacious feeling all around. First impression of the Jamaican Blue Coffee served there - Strong. And it was great. Robust flavor profile for those who appreciate the depth of real coffee. Of course they have specialty drinks with extras to satisfy all varieties of life. Came with my wife who ordered a Butterfly Tea Flower Iced Beverage. It was nice and refreshing but a tad too sweet for my tooth. My preference tends to be black coffee with occasional splash of oat milk. Overall I really liked this shop. Seen this spot popping up all over Insta, had a few friends recommend to me, and I finally made it out to northern Duluth to check it out. I was really excited to try this place because the ambiance and the beverages looked immaculate. The ambiance definitely lives up to the hype - the drinks not so much. I tried the iced blue latte and the 100% organic matcha latte. The espresso shots in my latte were really sour, I think the beverage would have been good if the shots were pulled correctly. It's essentially a caramel latte and the syrup tasted quality and not overpowering. The butterfly pea flower tea they add is mostly for aesthetic. The matcha latte was ok, but the matcha was overpowered by the milk. Might have needed better mixing or quality powder, but it was just OK regardless. I do have to give props to the interior though, I could easily spend hours working here. The interior is spacious, slightly dim, and very peaceful. Music selection was very fitting when I was there and there is plenty of seating. Honestly would come back here just to work even if I had to grab a drink that I don't exactly crave. There are also some food offerings that caught my eye, such as their croffles and tuna melt, so I'll have to be back to try those. Overall, I do think that Cafe Blue is one of the most aesthetic cafes OTP and an excellent place to go if you are looking for a nice place to sit and work for a few hours. Cafe Blue is not in a popular plaza but it is sure worth the visit. It is located off Satellite Blvd and Boggs Road across from the QT gas station. The plaza has a lot of Korean owners. While walking in Cafe Blue, it is packed! Every table is taken!! Many on their laptops. I ordered both the Butterfly Pea Flower drinks - tea & coffee! The tea is so freaking delicious. Super chic cafe with great coffee. I wish I lived closer so I could try all the varieties. My husband got a vanilla latte and I got an Earl Grey latte which taste just as described. Yum! We also tried the Croffle. It was a really lovely treat to share but we could not find a fork and had to eat it with our hands which was a bit messy. Love this place!! The drinks, décor, and customer service are all superb. We got our drinks to go within minutes today, despite a pretty busy weekend afternoon. Drinks we've had so far: - Café Blue Latte (iced) - Iced Butterfly Pea Flower - London Fog Lavender Latte (hot) The coffee drinks are VERY caffeinated, which my husband likes, but made me pretty jittery. The only not-so-positive thing I have to say is the lack of enforcement of COVID-19 CDC guidelines, given how crowded this place is. I came here to buy some take-out coffee on a Sunday morning. It was around 10am and had to wait at least 30 minutes to get my two coffee. The coffee was good, but not worth 30 min wait. A lot of people before me waited that long too. The drinks came out slowly. Staff was friendly , but they have to improve on the wait time. It's a cute place. I guess if you sit down and chitchat while waiting, the wait time would be more tolerable. But 30 mins plus ( I think it was close to 40 mins) is a long wait for any drink in my opinion read more

This is one of my favorite cafe to go to. Parking is never a problem, but it gets crowded very quickly. We often go right after opening hour. Coffee quality is good. Ambiance is cozy, but dark. Service is friendly. Food Tuna Smash: Not too fishy. There were avocado spread, tomato, and pickles I think? Bread were nicely toasted. Flavorful but not salty. Avocado Toast: Highly recommend as it's really yummy. Loved the pickled onion on top, which was sweet and not too strong of onion. Your breath won't smell afterwards, I swear. The salad and peppers went well with the toast. Drinks Coffee overall is always smooth and not too bitter. Iced Blue Latte: It looks cool, but honestly just tasted like vanilla latte. The blue color alone doesn't taste like anything. Hand Drip: My boyfriend ordered it and I had a taste. Really expensive ($12) for a small cup. Tasted like regular black coffee. Maybe a true coffee connoisseur can tell the difference. Dutch Cube Latte: This is one of my favorites. I think it's worth the price since the ice were made of coffee. It's smooth, not too sweet, not too bitter or milky, just pure goodness. White Snow Latte: If you like chocolate and cinnamon, then this would be your favorite. Black Sesame Latte: Heard great things about it, but definitely not my personal preference since the sesame taste overpowered the coffee flavor too much. It tasted burnt. Vietnamese Shakerato Latte: This is also one of my favorites. Coffee was made with condense milk so it's lightly sweet, but not milky. You will not be able to find a cafe where they exclusively ONLY sell these Jamaica blue "NO.1 grade" coffee... literally anywhere in the world. You can do the research but these beans are extremely rare and hard to get. I know the business owners truly worked hard to get the licensing to get it shipped here because not anyone can get these authentic barrels shipped straight from Jamaica. (Japan received 80% of the beans for 10+ years & when their contract ended, the owners of Cafe Blue brought these beans to the states.... &Gwinnett was the first spot they shared this gift with.) just sayin' ! They're legit. The drinks are a little on a pricier side for the area but if you don't mind paying a little extra for one of the bests in the world, this is your spot. Cold brew is so smooth with no bitterness. You can taste the difference immediately from your ordinary starbucks. If I'm craving something fancier/sweeter I love their iced black sesame latte, einspänner, & blue latte. ( they add butterfly pea flower tea which is naturally blue ) also I go for their organic matcha with oat milk if I'm not feeling coffee that day. One of my favorite aspects of this cafe is its atmosphere, I really loved the plants around the walls and the adorable seating! It seems like a really good place to study as it also provides free wifi. I went in on a Monday afternoon so it was fairly slow. I got the strawberry cream matcha which was super creamy and delicious but also really sweet. My friend got white raspberry mocha which was really delicious and I loved the raspberry flavor. I heard about this cafe from friends since it opened, so I was waiting to try this cafe. I ordered the Butterfly pea flower tea ($5.6) and Strawberry fresh cream cake ($6.5). Because of COVID, they gave my drink in a plastic container. I would give the atmosphere here 4.5 stars, drink here 3.8 stars, and the dessert 2.5 stars. The atmosphere inside the cafe was great! The decoration is nicely done, so this is a great place to come study or to spend time with friends/significant other. The Butterfly pea flower tea was pretty and unique. It used the blue colored tea and had orange flavor, so I would say it is something special worth trying. I felt like it was a bit small (maybe grande size from starbucks) because a good portion of the container was filled with foam and ice. Before I went to the cafe, I was really looking forward to trying their desserts. I wanted to try their macaron and cake, but I ended up ordering their cake only. I was thrown off by the macaron price ($3.50 for a regular size and $4.50 for a thicker filling), so I decided not to order. The macaron size was about as big as.. a ping pong ball? So not big at all. I understand a more expensive price for macarons because I heard Cafe Blue purchases them from a local baker from the area, but I don't think it is sustainable to sell macarons for $3.5/$4.5. I cannot comment on the taste of the macaron since I haven't tried, but I would love to try if they lowered the price. I still got the Strawberry fresh cream cake, because it looked pretty. I hate to say this, but it tasted too plain.... The fresh cream and the bread both tasted just like cake I buy from a grocery store... I was told from a friend after I visited that the chocolate cake tastes better, so I recommend trying the chocolate cake if you want to try. I heard that the cakes are purchased from a different local baker from the area. Personally, I was pretty disappointed on the taste of the dessert. Overall, I don't think the place meets the hype on instagram. However, the atmosphere is cozy and clean(!!!), so it is a great place to come for a few hours. read more

Kickstarting reviews of this place. I have driven past here for quite some time but did not really have a chance to stop by until sometime last week. I loved the overall look and feel of the interior. It's very classy and rustic. The chairs are all leather-lined and actually comfortable (that's seriously worth mentioning). Now, check out the menu you're going to see a combination of teas, coffee and matcha. A STEP ABOVE YOUR LOCAL COFFEE My first time here I got a Latte and was blown away by the coffee. If you are a coffee lover and know your flavors, regions, etc - you will find quickly that the coffee here is not just bought ground and brewed from a coffee maker. This coffee was freshly roasted, extremely smooth and did not have much of a sour bite to it. After taking the first sip, I had to walk around and ask questions as to what kind of coffee I was drinking. coming up to the counter space I noticed that they have a monstrous roaster clearly visible (I guess I was just blind to it) behind glass and they are roasting Grade A Blue Mountain Jamaican Coffee (hence the name Blue Cafe). This explains the amazing taste because it's one thing to have a roaster but another thing to know what you're doing with it. They clearly know what they are doing. You're going to pay a tad more for the coffee here then you would your typical coffee shop but you're going to get a much higher quality taste of the coffee. 100% Organic Matcha The 2ND time I came here, I wanted to try either the tea or the matcha since I see that it is 100% organic. I got a matcha latte with almond milk (the "usual" if I'm at Maiko) to see how it compares. I must say the presentation was pretty awesome. I guess using the green matcha, they somehow created a clover latte art (see image). The flavor of the matcha was strong - my only issue was I never said "no sugar" so the sugar took away from the overall taste, ill have to try this again. From what I could taste though, the Matcha was very well created, had a well balanced flavor. It was slightly more bitter then what I'm used to but I can respect a bit of bitterness when dealing with Matcha. There are desserts and a few sandwiches but It seems they are still sampling from different suppliers so I will most likely try it later on! If your in the area, definitely check them out and definitely try the coffee first before anything else. read more

I was wowed upon entering this place. From the greenery, to the decor, to the set up. Everything was a well put together! Perfect ambience! I tried their raspberry white mocha and HOLY SHI**, it was SO GOOD!!!! I was so tempted to take one to-go. I'm definitely making my way back there soon to try the other flavors. Great place to work remotely too. It did get busy around lunch and loud as I had to take a few work calls, but overall, the area is spacious with plenty of tables. Great Service. I was greeted immediately and the gentleman behind the counter was quick and willing to help. Encouraging me to ask any questions. He informed me that they use only Jamaican blue mountain coffee beans, for everything. Unfortunately, I had already had my coffee(s) for the day so I opted for a Iced Butterfly Pea Flower Latte. Wow. So beautiful and so tasty, the flavors were fresh and natural, not artificial or cloying. I am so happy that this place exists and I will definitely be here a lot! There is a small disclaimer at the bottom of the menu that indicates that prices may be rising, as the current listed prices are Grand Opening Specials. Tried the blue drink which seems to be their main/signature drink of this cafe. It tasted like watered down Capri sun or low/no sugar cranberry juice. What's cool about this drink is that it changes color from blue to purple when you pour syrup over it. Definitely Instagram worthy but if you are looking for taste/flavor, this is not your drink. This is a nice place to study if you prefer a more quiet environment. They have their own roaster here and you can see it as you walk toward the back which I thought was cool, They mostly serve drinks but there are some limited food options, I had the pecan tart (good and sweet) and cheese/ham croissant sandwich (ordinary). For drinks, I ordered the white snow latte and black sesame latte. They were both really good! I am usually not a coffee drinker so the white snow had a good balance of mocha, milk foam, and coffee - which made it less sweet. The black sesame latte's flavor was subtle and also not too sweet, so I was able to enjoy that as well. The only thing I found inconvenient was one side of the cafe had outlets and the other side with the booths had none, limiting its space to do work here. read more

Purchased a quarter pound of the medium roast to try it out. It was very freshly roasted and has a good nutty flavor. The guy who bagged it was great and even gave me an extra oz for free. However.. at $20 / 4oz , I can only make ~6 double espressos. This means that I'm paying $3 per double espresso made at home.. The coffee is good but not worth these prices. read more

Drinks & Pricing: my boyfriend ordered the $5.60 London Fog Lavender latte (Earl Grey based) while I ordered the $6.50 dripped black coffee (Strong & Bold, high roast). From what I could tell there was only one size option and my coffee came in an ~8oz cup while the latte came in a taller plastic cup. *Coffee: They're very detailed when taking your order. There's the type of dripper (they have special names but basically one is Strong/Bold, "medium", or light) and choice of beans (high roast or city roast). The coffee was definitely strong but smooth. It surprised me that it wasn't bitter at all, but if you take a while to drink then the acidity of the coffee does get stronger. *Tea latte: I'm not a big lavender person and usually find lavender teas to taste like floral soap but after stealing some sips from my bf's drink, I didn't hate the taste. The tea was strong, so you can definitely taste the Earl Grey. Personally, it's one of those drinks you don't mind drinking at first but can hate the taste the longer you drink it. If you love lavender (like my bf) then you'll definitely enjoy the London Fog Latte. Setting: I always drove by never giving this place a thought, but now I want to come back! This place has a great coffee menu. I think their items sometimes rotate because I came here last year some time, and they had a toffee nut latte, but last weekend, they didn't have it. If you've ever had the almond velvet teas at Paris baguette, the cream tastes just like it except with pistachio flavor. The pistachio flavor really comes through in the cream, and I really liked it.
