My husband and I stumbled upon this shop and we wanted to try it out. Parking can be rather far and it always available but once you find it you are good!! It is tucked away in downtown Duluth and is In The cutest little area perfect for a walk or spending time with family. Upon entering you are greeted by friendly staff and a very botanical aesthetic. Okay. I don't usually buy the market price pour overs, but I made an exception. Yirgacheff. I LIKE Yirgacheff. It was expensive. It was also the best cup of coffee I've ever had. Hands down. This place was bright, spacious, clean, and great for reading or studying. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Too far from my home for regular visits, but if I ever am in the mood for a pricey, but fantastic Yirgacheff. I know where to go. Let me start off by saying this was my first trip to Duluth, Georgia. Everything about Duluth is just so pretty and charming. Downtown Duluth has the nicest black and the most adorable small businesses. There was one business that changed the whole energy of my entire trip. This was break coffee roasters. My boyfriend and I ordered two coffees and two pastries. The pastries seemed frozen and warmed up. The coffee tasted very stale and burnt. What topped this all off was the service we received at the register. I believe the owner was the lady who waited on us. An Asian lady full of attitude and she seemed like she did not want to be there. Not sure if it's because we were Caucasian, but it felt like she was bothered we were there. During the ordering process, I nearly changed my mind and left because of her angry demeanor. I do not recommend break coffee roasters to anyone trying to enjoy a café in Duluth. read more

I've never heard or been to this place after years of living in Georgia or in Duluth. So, I brought my cousin with me since it was so nice out for a drink. We got the break soda which is seasonal, iced americano, and a cheese and raspberry danish. It was a total of around $15, which is a bit pricey but still worth it. The wait wasn't bad, and I noticed that they sold some plants, flowers, and some of their merch like coffee beans. They have nice seatings available, which some are outside. The interior of this coffee shop is beautifully instagrammable. They have a stair-wall with pillows and cushions on the right-hand side where you can sit and curl up with a good book. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor has seating arrangements that can accommodate single guests or groups of a medium size (~6 people) with couches, chairs, and tables large enough for multiple people to work from with their laptops and notebooks. On the day I visited, the noise level was pretty minimal but my husband visited a few days after to take a work call, and it was very loud. We ordered the chocolate waffle, but it didn't end up coming out with the rest of the pastries we ordered. When I went to inquire about it, they explained they were having some difficulties with the waffle machine and would have to process a refund. Since we were still hanging around about a half hour later, they brought one to us as a good will gesture, which I appreciated. However, it was very dry and very cardboardy, so if that is the norm, I would not recommend. The pastries, on the other hand, were so good! We had a cheese twist and a cheese danish - both were 5 stars! Their strawberry matcha latte was tasty as well. Pro tip: If your maps app is taking you to a location where the coffee shop does not exist (lol), the location is in Downtown Duluth alongside the main grassy park area! I drove past the Johns Creek location, but looked like there weren't many tables on the inside. Then found out they just opened another location in downtown Duluth, so we decided to check it out. Parking maybe a bit of a challenge during the holidays, but not much. The coffee shop is in a brick building with a small sign on the top, which may be difficult to find without looking for a picture beforehand. Once we walked in, it was a lot smaller than I imagined. Other than that, the customer service and interior design was impressive. I loved the ambiance and the cool seating by the wall that looks like stairs with floor cushions. Those seating gets filled up fast though. Coffee overall was unique, not sure if it's my personal preference. We got a Caramel Latte that didn't taste much like a typical caramel. It's more like regular sugar in a latte (yes, sugar and caramel has settle difference in taste). The other drink was a pour-over. It's not bitter and smooth to drink, but had a strong aroma to it that we're not used to. The Apple Danish was perfection though. Perfectly warm, toasty, light, and airy. If we do come back, we would prob try out the matcha latte and other bake goods. read more

If you're trying to find me, there's a very high likelihood that I may be at Break Coffee Roasters. Conveniently nestled in the heart of Downtown Duluth, this coffee shop has everything you would want: cozy atmosphere, awesome baristas, and plenty of seating (indoor and outdoor). They also have a selection of both sweet and savory pastries near the cashier. My go-to drink is a regular latte with simple syrup. I have also tried their matcha strawberry which is yummy if you want a non-coffee alternative. Their beans are roasted in their other location on Peachtree Industrial Blvd. They also sell their beans in-store along with various types of plants. As far as parking goes, there's street parking right next to the shop on Hill Street, if those are taken, I usually park in the lot near Duluth City Hall.
