Excellent! The food and service was wonderful! The bourbon crawfish sauce over the blackened Mahi Mahi was out of this world good! We brought home a Black and Blue Burger and my husband loved it. The drinks were well made and the calamari was excellent. The breads tasted fresh and like they were made in house. We'll definitely return! Beautiful ambiance and our server was terrific! Hit or miss. More of a 2.5 star. The hostess will never greet you with a smile nor acknowledge you if there are other parties in line. When I was a hostess I was required to smile and greet customers in line and say, "Welcome! We will be right with you". BASIC skills people. Don't just ignore us when we are standing in front of you while you scowl and punch things into the computer. You are the director of first impressions and I'm rarely impressed. But there's slim pickings for staffing out here and mostly they are forced to hire bored, entitled young ladies from the area who's parents obviously haven't raised them to have simple manners. The food is always hit or miss. The fries are consistently over cooked and greasy. The burger, while ordered medium well was served rare and the server didn't even flinch while it was left untouched. We enjoyed our meals at Cafe Blue. I had a French Chardonnay for $10 and it was a decent sized pour. The Texas 75 - an unusual combo of gin and champagne and lemon was refreshing. My husband had a Brown Sugar Salmon salad with a large portion of salmon which he said was delicious. I ordered a blackened shrimp spinach salad with hard boiled eggs, blueberries and a bacon dressing which was tasty but had only 4 shrimp. Hubs and I were visiting Austin - Barton resort and spa for a quick weekend getaway, and we stumbled across this place for dinner. It is a little casual, and we were a tad overdressed, but what the heck, we looked good, okay! We made a reservation on open table but upon entering, quickly noted we didn't have to, because there were plenty of tables available on a Saturday evening. We weren't too sure about that- our motto is if the food is good, the place should be packed on a weekend, but mind you, the entire Galleria area was fairly unpopulated. No one walking, stores closed, so we thought that must have had something to do with it. Hostess was friendly, showed us to a comfortable booth. Server was very nice, friendly, laughed a lot at our corny jokes, and service was for the most part quick. Which was wonderful, because we were hungry. Hubs was disappointed because they ran out of his fave Topo Chico an hour before we got there. He settled for Pellegrino. We started out with a bread basket, which was delish! Served with salted butter, with 3 flavorful crispy and flaky squares that we pulled apart and dipped into the creamy butter. We ate 2 baskets. My figure wasn't happy but my mouth sure was! Next and quickly thereafter came our appetizers, jerk chicken quesadillas for the hubs and crab cakes served on mustard sauce for me. I thought the crab cake itself was delish, but the mustard sauce was, dare I say, a little TOO mustardy?? I ate it, it was good, but the mustard part could be turned down a couple notches. Hubs devoured his quesadillas, okay, DEVOURED. In fact, he didn't speak to me, not one word, until he was about 75% through the dish. And he was about to lick the plate in public until I was forced to threaten him with bodily harm. Not that I ever, EVER would hurt the hubs, but geez, in public though?? Anywho- Next was our entree; hubs ordered the trout and I ordered the crab stuffed flounder. Hubs loved his, ate most of it, but was rather full from his app. The crab stuffed flounder was good but underwhelming. I didn't find much flavor in the dish. The asparagus was crisp to perfection and my favorite part of the dish, but the mashed potatoes were average. I had a difficult time cutting into the bottom of my flounder- it was slightly over cooked. The crab stuffing didn't have much crab in it, but a 4/5 on the flavor scale. We ended with key lime pie, which, true to its name, tasted very fresh and homemade. It was tart, sweet, with a crumbly crust, and fresh fruit and mint delicately placed on top. It looked so pretty, I only wished I wasn't so full so I could really enjoy it! Oh and one more con before I forget; I had to ask for my water to be refilled and I had to wait a while for it. Overall, hubs and I enjoyed our time here, there were definitely items on the menu we were impressed with, and items we were not so impressed with. Otherwise, our experience was wonderful here, but will we return next time we visit Austin? Maybe, so I can try those jerk chicken quesadillas! read more

As a group of six, we arrived at 1:15 for a Fathers Day/birthday party and were promptly seated. Hors' oeuvres were ordered and served in an acceptable amount of time. Eventually, the server took our orders and the wait began. Approximately 45 minutes after ordering, a young man arrived with a tray of food. Unfortunately for him, the food was for the table behind us and as that was being sorted out, another server excoriated him for his mistake. She did it for all to hear. In my opinion, that should have been done in private. We waited for another hour and five minutes before my daughter found the manager and asked what the issue was. Her reply was "I have no explanation." At approximately 2:40 we received our food. The food was mediocre at best. We were in the back room and the tables around us turned over twice before we received our food. The manager never apologized or offered us an explanation for the delay. It was our first time there and we have no plans to come back. All in our group agreed that the manager could have handled the situation a lot better than she did. I'm confused by this why this place is so confused with itself. It seems bored, resting on the laurels of being the only decent place on that side of 71. When you walk in it feels and smells like being back in the 90's. Everyone seems to have perfected the fake half smile. It was weird how they all line up and glower at the guests. The wine list and prices are great. My cocktail was weak and way too sweet. The oyster selection is fantastic but twice the price of what you'll pay somewhere else. We had the ceviche and it's either catfish or tilapia bottom feeder. The mussels were nice but you're gonna want more bread for sopping. Why do they have quesadillas? French onion soup is spot on. I wanted try the chowder, but walking in from the lot I could see the guy throwing canned clams in the dumpster when taking out the trash. We kindly called to let them know that we were on our way back to pick up the missing items. The host responded with "sorry I didn't get that." I kindly repeated myself explaining the situation. Her response: "we take priority over our in-restaurant customers so it will be 25min." I asked for the manager - also note, never was rude, never asked for compensation, just our food so we could finally eat what we paid for! and never... in my entire life... have I ever been treated the way the host as well as the manager Andy treated us. The manager told me "sorry, we have 17 tickets ahead of you!" I can't even fathom treating people this way let alone customers who paid over $100 only to get half their meal, spend an extra 30min driving, just for them to give us THE WRONG THING AGAIN!!!!! Went to cafe blue for brunch this past Sunday and I was very pleased! The interior is very pretty, it sort of gave me an under water vibe with tons of blue decor (of course). The brunch menu did not disappoint. They have a great selection to choose from. Because I came on my last vacation day and was stuffed from eating everything on site all weekend I opted for the veggie omelette with, hash browns and a side of fruit. Which was delicious! I'm from Maine originally. I'm very hesitant to order clam chowder because no one makes it like they do in New England. Usually it's all potatoes and filler with odd spices and very few clams. I asked the waitress if the clam chowder was made here or not and she said it was made fresh and it's amazing. I decided to try it and was ridiculously surprised! It was as if I was home eating it in a Maine restaurant!!! It's by far the best clam chowder outside of New England that I've ever had!!! I had the blueberry pomegranate mimosa and it was delicious. The blueberries were fresh and not soft or squishy at all. My husband had a bunch of oyster shooters and the oysters were good but not fully shucked and the one that was still had the piece that attaches they oyster to the shell on it. He said they were good but the dirty Pepe was gross. Not gross like it was made bad, just gross as in he did not like the flavor at all. We only sat at the bar for drinks and apps. We went to this restaurant for a late dinner Saturday night (around 9 PM) so we were sat right away. Our server was super friendly and very personable. He went over their specials and answered all of our questions about the food and drink menu. We had had an early dinner, hence why we were eating so late, and weren't particularly hungry so we ended up ordering the Seafood Sampler which came with 4 oysters, jumbo Gulf cocktail shrimp, snow crab claws, and ceviche. We also added a 1/2 lb of king crab legs and my boyfriend ordered their Blue Wedge to start. We were really impressed with how fresh all the seafood was! I normally don't like ceviche but theirs was perfectly seasoned. I ordered the crab legs broiled (the way it comes as a hot appetizer instead of chilled) and it came split with this amazing lemon garlic butter... probably the best butter I've had with crab legs. I didn't have any of the Blue Wedge salad but it looked really good and even came with Goldfish crackers on it. I noticed before we came here, Yelp has Cafe Blue rated for only 2 $$ for price which is definitely not the case. Expect to spend a bit more here as it is a nicer seafood restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed our time here and would be back if we are craving seafood especially since there aren't very many other restaurants like this in the area. read more

Until April/May 2023 this place has been our go to for seafood/drinks. Since then we have been 4-5 times and last night was the last time for us. We kept hoping it was just an off night but each time has gotten worse. Last night it started at the hostess stand with the manager and her staff arguing about seat placement of customers (restaurant was dead) as we waited to be seated. Our server was very inexperienced and then 2 out of 3 of us received the wrong order not once but twice. When the bill came we were charged with items we did not order. We were offered a free dessert in which we declined and all the manager had to say was sorry we are short staffed which was not true since we could see more staff in the restaurant than customer. Been here a few times and it's always a pretty good experience. There was 4 people in our party and we were coming from the Cinemark movie theater in the Galleria. Service was pretty good besides drink refills took a little while. It wasn't that busy because we arrived at the end of brunch. It was almost 3 pm. Two of us did the soup and salad special: a blue cheese wedge and the French onion soup. The soup was loaded with cheese! Piping hot and delicious! It kept me full for the rest of the day. Someone ordered the shrimp and grits off the brunch menu and it was huge! Loaded with okra. We also got the crab cake Ceasar salad and the crab cake. Everyone loved what they got. I went to Cafe Blue long time ago, when they were still on Lake Travis. My friends wanted to come here for brunch, so here I am. Waitress is super nice, she told us which is her favorite dishes in different categories. That is really helpful. Black and Blue Burger is very good, but the burger buns are too small to hold the patty. Eggs Benedict Arnold is very good! I never think Benedict will go with Cajun shrimp & crawfish! Five stars bc amazing food + amazing service. We came Friday night @ 830pm and were immediately sat and immediately served. First off the food was unexpectedly amazing. I'm always apprehensive to try seafood restaurants outside of the normal downtown scene, but this food was amazing. I got the potato crusted Alaskan halibut (pictured) below and it came with a perfect sized serving of fish plated upon pickled beets and cooked spinach. I'm not sure what the glaze sauce is but it was a perfect match for both the vegetables, and the fish. My friend nervously ordered the chicken pasta (nervous bc it's a seafood restaurant) and was over the moon with the cooking of both the veggies and chicken. His serving size could easily feed two. And lastly, we ended our meal with coffee and the molten chocolate cake that our waitress recommended. HOLY MOLY CALLING ALL CHOCOLATE LOVERS YOU HAVE TO ORDER THE CAKE. Second was our absolutely amazing server, Kira. They were quick to introduce us to the restaurant and give us the run down of what to order and what wine we HAD to try. We never had to look around for our server. Our drinks were always filled, and our questions were knowledgeably answered. I decided to give this place another shot after my father wanted to go here. I swore I would never walk in here again. As Dad is close to 80 he likes to eat dinner around 5pm. They were having happy hour. It is all day on Monday and 3 to 6pm Tuesday-Friday. I got the wedge salad which has gold fish crackers on it. A dozen oysters and a half pound of shrimp. Overall all was good. My father really enjoyed his dish which was a a fish crepe. The food actually was not as salty as I remember. Since this trip I have returned with my husband for happy hour. Wine is half price either by the glass or the bottle. He also enjoyed the food. The main reason I am writing the review is the Easter Brunch. It was wonderful. First time I had something besides shrimp and oysters. Everything was delicious and didn't haven't much salt at all. It was a wonderful event and I am glad this is where we decided to spend our Easter Sunday. One more small tip to the management. On the buffet make sure you post larger signs if something has nuts. I didn't see the sign and did accidentally eat something with nuts. Thankfully, a small bite and knew as soon as it hit my tongue. We will be back for happy hour. Extremely disappointed in the portions served to me and two others last night. We all ordered Mahi Mahi (not a cheap dinner) and received the smallest portion of fish I've ever seen on a dinner plate. The rice pilaf was too salty. Two of us substituted the vegetable for asparagus and both were given 3 spears. Seems very skimpy to me. I have eaten at Cafe Blue many times with my family and I am now hesitant to go back. I realize food and labor prices are up but they would be better off raising prices so we can receive a real meal. At least we weren't chraged for the extra bread or we would have left hungry. read more
