I have eaten at Cafe 501 often for years! What is going on with Cafe 501 lately? I hope you love eggs if you go for brunch. There's no options without eggs. That menu could use more variety - like some lunch items that do not have eggs. I've gotten the quiche twice. Both times the crust was rock hard overcooked! The flavor of it was good, but I couldn't eat the crust. According to their website, lunch is served until 5, but when we got there just after 4pm, we were told we could not order off the lunch menu. Please update your website bc we came there to eat items on the lunch menu. The dinner menu is limited - No coyote chicken options - no sandwiches except a burger - And has some items that in my opinion are not up-to-par for Cafe 501- Serving instant potatoes with the fried chicken dish- Really?? I was very disappointed with the shrimp and fries appetizer. That reminded me of something you'd get at TGI Fridays. I have higher expectations for Cafe 501. Finally, almost every time I've gone for months, most, if not all the cookies are brown and over baked. Who likes rock hard cookies? I'm wondering if Cafe 501 is under new management? I was in town visiting family and we were looking for a spot for a late lunch. Yelp led us here and it did not disappoint. There was plenty of parking nearby and we were seated quickly. We got a sandwich and a Thai Bowl and both were out quickly and delicious. I'll definitely stop in again the next time I'm in town. read more

Cafe 501 has wonderful food and desserts. The 501 Salad is the best salad I've ever eaten.

Came here for a lunch date and had the Portobello Mushroom Sandwich. It was delicious!! Oh my goodness. Everything about it was right. I also liked the fresh orzo pasta salad on the side. So yummy! I had a perfect meal at Cafe 501. My mom and I enjoyed the pop rock shrimp and fries. The shrimp had a slightly spicy flavor and the lemon aioli. I absolutely loved my chicken parmesan salad; each ingredient added to the dish's perfection. My mom enjoyed her carne asada tacos with rice and beans. Cafe 501 is so consistent which makes it difficult to venture out to try new places. You will never be disappointed with your food as it always comes out hot and fresh. My go to is the coyote chicken sandwich with their orzo side pasta which is so simple yet very satisfying. This is probably the best cafe Edmond has. read more

What a happy accident! Went to try Sparrow and they were insanely booked for the night so we stopped in here because I had always wanted to try it out anyway and they had immediate seating. WOW! The food and service were exceptional! I am SO happy to have come here instead of the other place! The Pop Rock shrimp was deliciously spicy with an Asian kick. The sauce simmers down the spice in a delightful citrus way. I decided on the special of the night and oh my goodness it was probably some of the best food I have ever had. Shrimp on top of salmon perfectly seared on top of fried potatoes and a side of green beans. Believe me when I say everything was beyond delicious! Just thinking about I makes me want more! My BF has the chicken bowl thing, not sure what it was called because I was obsessing over my own food. Anyway, it was also amazing! The chargrilled lettuce part was stellar! Never thought I could love lettuce so much but I tell you it was amazing. We ate so much we did not even have room for the amazing looking desserts they had. Next time! Go here! I always love to try new places when I visit OK. My son eats at this cafe frequently but it was my first time. I must say it did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich which came with Pasta salad and my son ordered the BLT. Sandwiches were great but I must say the pasta salad ranks with the best ever. We shared a Ricotta cookie - highly recommend. Their pastries all looked amazing - from cookies to cupcakes to cakes and more. The atmosphere is eclectic and the school desks are still as uncomfortable as they were in elementary school, but the menu has a nice variety and the noise level for a smaller restaurant is still easy to carry on a conversation. The staff was knowledgeable but maybe not enough of them, as service was a little slow, but very polite and attentive when they could be. We weren't wowed by the food, but it did say let's come back and try something else on the menu. The sparerib risotto had way too many mushrooms in it, but the meat was spot on, and my wife's 501 burger did wow her, especially with the very large and not crispy potato wedges. We decided to go to cafe 501 for brunch on Sunday. Let me start out by saying our experience was pleasant. The staff was nice, service was great. Atmosphere, also great. The only reason I give the 3 stars is the food that WE got. I am definitely willing to give it a second go to try other things, but for what we got it just wasn't worth the price. To start out I got the cold brew and the cinnamon roll. The cold brew was DELICIOUS. Probably my favorite part of the meal. The cinnamon roll was... interesting. Definitely not your typical cinnamon roll, also kind of dry. Then I got the seasonal quiche, which was great in flavor, but for the price, it wasn't worth it. The rest of my party got the tater tumblers, which were very hard to eat because they were so hard, maybe over cooked, But the flavor was pretty good. The others got chicken and waffles, and carnitas tacos. They had nothing much to say other than the flavor was pretty good. Again, I would definitely come back to try this place, but for the price, I was not very impressed. read more

I've been visiting this place for a few years and they always make it right if something isn't what we thought it was. We are a bit adventurous, and try new items on the menu. I think I had one time where they gave me the wrong item, and it was so good. I didn't even know that I ordered the wrong item! It was one of their bowls. Whew, Sunday is a busy day for this place, huh? We entered and were told that there would be a 20 minute wait.... and it ended up being just that! It was really, really busy. When we were seated, it took about 5 minutes for someone to take drink orders. We both got water. I had asked for no ice, but ended up getting it anyway. Even though, the person who brought the water wasn't the same person who took our drink orders, though. For whatever reason he ended up completely taking over as our server. Anyway, another 5 minutes passed by and we ordered our food. Their brunch menu is extensive and appears to have a lot of greatness to offer. I ordered the Parmesan Chicken & Waffles, and it didn't take too long to come out. What a pleasant surprise! The syrup that was served with it was piping hot, and it was just a delicious combination! Definitely beats normal chicken and waffles. My friend got pancakes and unfortunately didn't enjoy them very much, though. This is a solid place, but the service could have been better. I would definitely visit again (and find out what that amazing cake I saw was) when I am in town... preferably on a less busy day. read more

Met a friend here for lunch. The place was packed; everyone was sitting on old school desk chairs that had been given a modern look; loved them. Just because it was crowded and even though all of the food is fixed up fresh, we didn't have to wait too long. We each had a hearty, deLICIous salad. The goat cheese is the best ever!! My family has eaten here a couple times and the food was always very good with great atmosphere. I regarded it as a really nice upscale yet affordable option for Edmond. We stopped in one night for dinner, restaurant was empty and the snarky young girl at the hostess stand asked us if we had reservations to which we replied no. She's says well if you noticed the sign on the door when you came in tonight we are having some sort of special event that requires reservations. Ok that's fine but the comment about reading the sign wasn't necessary... could have just said "oh darn I'm sorry we are doing blah blah blah tonight but we hope you will come back and join us another night real soon!" Then recently I was asked to host a special luncheon for my husband's office. There would be 9 of us attending so I was trying to find a cool local spot on a weekday that could accommodate us because I didn't want us to arrive somewhere and have to turn around and leave. So I called the restaurant and got another snarky employee on the phone, this time a young man. I explained I wanted to make a reservation to set up a lunch event for our group for 1pm. He says we don't lunch reservations, just dinner. I said well I would hate to bring in a group of 9 to eat there only to find out you can't seat us within a reasonable amount of time due to our large group size. He seemed irritated with my conversation/concerns. He then says I will have to pass along your info to the manager to have them call you about this, I agreed and provided my information. Waited a week and never received a call. I will be honest my family will never eat here again. If you think you are above providing good customer service in the service industry you are wrong. Having good food will never be enough on its own. I was extremely excited about my choice to bring our group there and celebrate the military spouses from our office with an upscale lunch event. In my party of 9 I was the only one that had eaten here previously. That means they had the chance to impress 8 new guests and turn them into regulars along with their families. It's all good I found a restaurant that was excited to help me plan our luncheon and they have won all of our business for larger events/catering. read more

Had a 7:30 reservation on a not so crowded Friday and we left at 8:05 because we were forgotten about. We had ordered 4 drinks and never saw our server again. This restaurant has a good reputation in Edmond and is a popular spot. We made reservations for dinner with friends on a Friday night. Our table was ready on time and our server was professional but friendly. We ordered drinks and an appetizer (Calimari) before looking over the menu. It was pretty busy but I was surprised by how long it took to get our drinks. The entrees took longer than usual as well but we were visiting so it wasn't an issue. Entrees were Santa Fe Chicken, (excellent!) Shrimp and Grits. The food was delicious and presentation was excellent. My Santa Fe Chicken had the perfect mix of flavors and texture. Without a doubt I will be ordering it again. Make a reservation if you want to be sure you'll have a table but give Cafe 501 a try ! read more

I recently dined here with colleagues for a business dinner. I was very excited to go and I love the building and the interior. Drinks and dessert were spectacular. Service was good as well. Entree---not the best thing I've ever had. I ordered the roast chicken which came on a creamy sauce laced with spinach or kale (can't remember). First time here. My daughter has heard good things about it for a while and has been wanting to check it out, so we did for lunch. We ordered at the counter and then found a place to sit. Pretty simple menu of soup, salads and sandwiches and entrees. We both ordered a sandwich and soup. I got the BLT which is hard to go wrong and yes it was great. I got cauliflower soup for the side. Rich and creamy but not that hot. I'm guessing they keep it in the fridge until its ordered and then warm it up. My daughter enjoyed her sandwich & soup too. Will definitely go back. The foccacia on this sandwich was crisp and tender However the sandwich was really dry. The potato salad was amazing. I was a little disappointed with this location especially after comparing it to the one on Classen Curve. I probably ordered the wrong item. Brunch today was a disappointment. The croquet in a hole was terrible. The toast was burnt and very little ham however there was plenty of cheese. It'd been too long since I had been to Cafe 501! I guess I'd never taken my hubs there. So Sunday we headed over for brunch! It's such a nice cozy atmosphere and our wait staff Miranda was great! The hostess by the door definitely left something to be desired, she never greeted us and basically left us standing by a table. Anyways, I'll let that go since the food all but made up for her lack of friendliness ! We ordered the housemade pimento cheese and avocado appetizer and wow it was amazing!!! That pimento cheese is the BEST I've ever had! We also had a carafe of mimosas for $20. Pretty decent deal. I ordered the skillet scramble which was to die for! So much flavor! So many good things going on in that dish. Chorizo, green chili queso, fried eggs, peppers and onions, and potatoes. Absolutely fantastic! My husband ordered the Denver omelette which he said was very delicious and it was very large, he couldn't eat the whole thing. I had a Bloody Mary and it was great!
