First time here and we absolutely loved it!! We always search for local places to eat when we visit a city and this place was amazing. The team was very welcoming and all smiles. That's rare to see in a lot of places. Our server, Alexis (Lexi), was fantastic!! She took care of us, was very attentive, and always came to church on us at the perfect time. I had the spicy honey chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint!! Flavorful, juicy, right amount of spice. My husband had the chicken pot pie. He loved it! Everything was made fresh. There was nothing pre-made or warmed up in a microwave. They had Christmas music playing at a nice volume. I usually swap out bone-in fried chicken for the tenders when I order it or just get the chicken tender plate. The green beans are so tasty! This is one of the few diners in the city that will cook your burger to the temperature you want. Not everyone wants a well done burger, if you know what I mean. My kid is obsessed with the chocolate cake they have for dessert. Rich and loaded with chocolate. The service is always friendly and helpful. We had an incident once where a teen could care less about doing anything right and he's not there anymore. ;) Ambiance is clean and simple, but cozy and inviting. Came here with my daughters. My over medium eggs were undercooked. I get really grossed out by runny whites. . My daughter's scrambled eggs were wet and runny. There was no butter for the toast. No one came to check on us to see if everything was okay or I would have mentioned. Our drinks went empty and food was mixed up. The food was just okay...a bit too bland for me, but the crossaint French toast was pretty tasty. The Metro dinner has long been a Northside favorite so we decided to test it out today. Our party ordered the roasted turkey plate, a grilled cheese sandwich, a chicken salad sandwich and side salad, and the fish & chips. Everyone agreed that the overall quality was top notch. The grilled cheese sandwich got a very tasty thumbs up from our pickiest fussbudget. The fish & chips guy said "the fish gave Long John Silvers a run for their money. The roasted turkey plate got a big thumbs up with an extra thumbs up for the mashed potatoes and gravy. The chicken salad sandwich was just scrumptious. I've never had anything bad at Metro Diner. They have a seasonal special board which always seems to be delicious as well.
