I decided to try Joey's Cafe because I noticed they had crab Louie eggs benedict on their menu. When I arrived about 11:00 a.m. the place was packed, and I could tell the hostess and wait staff were all working super hard to clean off the tables after the morning rush. The hostess cleaned off a table just for me and gave me a menu as soon as I walked in. My waiter arrived promptly and got my coffee order, and then he swung right back by and got my food order. They were a very well run machine this morning. My meal was absolutely perfection! The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the hollandaise was wonderful. The crab cakes were cooked with a nice crunchy outside. I think this was probably the best brunch I've ever had in Oklahoma City. And that's saying a lot. Decided to try this café on Friday afternoon. Right off the bat the floor was incredibly sticky. The hostess said something to us but we both could not understand her. Thinking she said seat yourself we easily found a booth in the almost empty restaurant. We waited 10 minutes for anyone to come.....no one ever checked on us. I stopped in here at lunchtime with a friend on a Saturday. This is a no-frills casual little neighborhood cafe. There were plenty of tables open and we were sat right away. The ceiling lighting is really bright but you get used to it after awhile. The service was fine our food was brought out fairly quickly as well. My friend got an omelet with potatoes and fruit and I tried the Salmon Salad with balsamic dressing which was really good! The salmon was perfectly cooked and a decent size for a salad portion. My mother asked for some milk for her coffee, the waiter brought out a thimbleful ; on the next cup of coffee my mother asked for some more milk for her coffee , she was told she would have to buy a glass of milk because they dont give milk away for free. My husband and decided to have brunch here New Year Day. Neither one of us have been here before so we looked forward to the experience. Needless to say it was not good. When we entered the establishment it's a mom and pop establishment we were seated and given menus. Our server came and he threw me off by his greeting not really introducing himself and rushing us to order. My husband ordered a hamburger and home fries. I ordered bacon a poached egg w/hollandaise sauce and fresh spinach on a croissant. I received Canadian bacon no hollandaise sauce and he didn't get condiments we asked for. Another server had to make sure we got condiments. I didn't want to complain because my order was wrong but my husband did. The server who brought the food had an attitude never apologized and was TOLD to ask if we wanted it fixed to go. They didn't offer to take it off our ticket and here is the fixed results: this time it had bacon and hollandaise sauce but the egg was fried not poached and raw. I asked a very respectful young lady who worked there if they served BLACK CUSTOMER'S? She said yes but it was unfortunate that some people who worked there didn't like people of color. I was mortified!!! What a way to start our new year. If you are BLACK it's unfortunate but I'd reconsider eating here if I were you. super sad day. Happy New Year read more

I think Joey's 3.5 star average on Yelp is spot on. I had breakfast at Joey's on a Saturday around 8:30. It was steady, but never close to busy. I'd say no more than 6 tables at a given time. It's a classic no frills diner, but a decently large space. Plenty of table seating and booths lining the walls. I was approached immediately by a very friendly server to take my order. Service was fantastic, 5 stars there. After perusing the menu, I decided to go with the chicken fried steak breakfast. This may be the food snob in me, but I didn't want it if it wasn't homemade. I can buy a frozen chicken fry at home and heat it up just like a restaurant can. So, I asked the server if it was made in house and she replied it was. Breaded fresh every morning. So, I went with that dish, along with scrambled eggs with cheese, home fries well done, and biscuits and gravy. The food came out after about 10 or so minutes. It was very fresh, all of it was piping hot, save the biscuit. It was warm, but nowhere near hot. The chicken fried steak is a good size, not enormous like some of the plate coverers you can see in Oklahoma (looking at you Kendall's), but also not tiny. Reasonable size for the price. And, if it wasn't freshly made they did a good job fooling me. The crust has some crunch to it, but it's pan fried, which I typically prefer to deep fried. The steak to crust ratio is fantastic, you don't get a bite of just breading. It was also fork tender. It lacked in the seasoning department; needed a heavy dose of salt and pepper. But, this was a strong steak, one I'd eat again. It was the highlight of the meal. The eggs were good, not overly scrambled so they weren't demolished. The potatoes had some crunch to them, but they were a little light on the seasoning as well. The gravy was bland, it needed a heavy dose of seasoning. And, the biscuit, as noted above, was only warm. Just above room temperature. I only had a couple of bites of the biscuit and gravy, it just didn't do anything for me. I'd return if I am in the area, and would get the chicken fried steak again, but likely with a different accompaniment. That being said, it was a strong steak and great service. I've had many breakfasts worst than what I had at Joey's. read more

I had work to do so I didn't pay any mind until my order came out incorrectly and no one offered to remedy the situation other than taking the whole Plate of food back. All I needed was for the eggs to be cooked as requested. The display of food was haphazard at best but everyone is entitled to an off day but even flavors were subpar. It's unfortunate because the Joeys Cafe in Edmond is 5+ stars and the owner is incredible. This location is far from acceptable. Based on the great reviews, we tried Joey's. Nice place, and if you get there at or before 8 (at least on Saurday) you'll have a quick, quiet dining experience. I had 'The Heap' omelette and Ra had Ham & eggs, over medium. All the food was cooked perfectly. The thing that really spoiled the whole thing for us was the food was barely warm and the toast was cold as ice & barely toasted. All that said, our server, Angelica lived up to her name: she was an angel. We won't be back, and not just because we live in CA. Cold food is one of those "unforgivables". I hate saying that about any place. My hope is that they'll read this and take steps to serve HOT food. read more
