I usually venture in to Oklahoma City when it's time for a Girl's Brunch. Today we decided to stay in Edmond, but wanted the normal brunch "feel". Cafe 501 got the job done. The have a brunch menu that has a great variety of brunch food. It ranges from sweet(try their bread pudding French toast) to savory (the traditional Benedict is what I had). I'm a Benedict addict, but there was nothing outstanding about my Benedict. Next time I think I'll try the crab cake Benedict. My friend got a pizza; so if you aren't in the mood for breakfast but your friends are then this could be a great choice. The table was a little small for all four of us, but we're small so we made it work. The environment is naturally lit, not overly noisy, and classy. Had an awesome time at lunch with a business partner over at cafe 501. I had never been here before but I have always passed by and wondered if it was any good. When I walked in a was blown away by the desserts in the glass case and was ready to skip lunch and go directly for a piece of cake. My business partner told me if I ever wanted to take treats to a client that I had to get them from there over anywhere else. I surveyed the menu a little bit and decided on the southwest chicken wrap, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The only thing that I found issue with the establishment was the lack of enough seating. At first I was a little nervous coming here because I just completed a hike and this place looked a little fancy. It kind of was but there were many people that weren't super dressed up. I could have used a polo but oh well. During lunch time you order at the counter and then you can sit down. Apparently I have been told if you are coming at night the operations changes a little so please call ahead. Service was fast and food came out hot. I was impressed with the large servings and how good their food was. I ordered the pizza and looked like all fresh ingredients and worth the $10 for a mini pizza. We were visiting friends and attending a wedding in Edmund. We decided to meet up at Cafe 501 for a Saturday night dinner. We made a reservation but it wasn't needed. We had cocktails and a spicy shrimp and French fry appetizer. So far all good. Everyone enjoyed their salads (wedge and the 501 saladwith green apple). My wife had the Margherita pizza which was just OK. Our friend enjoyed the iron pot chicken with spinach and polenta. (They said is was good). I had the Chicken cordon bleu with risotto which was way too salty. The risotto was cooked perfectly and the chicken was very dry. (Stay away from this one). All in all we would go back. read more

I went here yesterday evening. My personal experience is probably a 3 but the other two people I was with were more pleased with their food so I gave it a 4. I ordered the margherita pizza and there was way too much cheese, not enough sauce, and one slice had bacon on it. Also the complimentary bread seemed like it was just Sarah Lee whole wheat bread you buy at a grocery store. The service was okay but 4 or 5 different servers helped us and I prefer to have a designated server. Cafe 501 is very consistent. I can always rely on it for a great meal. The chicken Parmesan on the dinner menu is different than any other restaurant I've been to, but so good! Their calamari is a great starter and all of their drinks are great. Their lunch menu is packed with options and the service is always good. I'm no stranger to their Classen Curve location, but never had been to the original until my husband and I went for my birthday this week. The menu is basically the same, but the atmosphere feels different. It still upscale casual, just not quite as modern. They have a nice seasonal cocktail list. I liked the blackberry club special, although I would've preferred it without the salted rim. The salmon entree was cooked perfectly. My husband really enjoyed his Santa Fe chicken as well. Since I'm almost never in Edmond, I probably won't go out of my way to come back, but if I'm ever in the area I'd be happy to! read more

Cafe 501 - Salmon - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Edmond, Oklahoma

Two couples went to the Edmond location for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived at 11:15 a.m. and it was fairly busy with most patrons having breakfast. By noon, only a few diners remained for lunch and it was not very busy by the time we left around 1:00 p.m. We ordered our lunch (two hot roast beef sandwiches @$12 each, the coyote chicken sandwich and portobello mushroom sandwich @ $11 each, three diet cokes and a coffee). We also ordered one creme brulee and a piece of an unusual looking apple pie @ $6 each. Total bill: $74.15. For those of you who haven't been to Cafe 501 before, patrons order lunch at the main front counter and get their own drinks and servers bring the food to your table. There were several flies buzzing around the front counter including one that was inside the main case housing the desserts. A male employee standing behind the case was attempting to swat one of them with his dish towel. Nobody attempted to get the one that was flying around inside the dessert case. I want to primarily focus on the two hot roast beef sandwiches. The sandwich comes on a french roll with provolone cheese and a side of sour cream/horseradish sauce, au jus and some pasta salad. The pasta salad was okay. Not great, but not bad. It was what you'd expect to find at the deli counter at Uptown Grocery. The portion was adequate. Not huge, but not small. The sour cream/horseradish sauce was very thin sour cream with just a hint of horseradish. The au jus was completely flavorless. Arby's horsey sauce and au jus have much more flavor and you can actually taste the horseradish in their sauce. The hot roast beef sandwich was an adequate portion. The french bread was very good. It was, in fact, the best part of the sandwich. There was so little provolone cheese on the sandwiches that I actually had to look for it and discovered a narrow melted slice which didn't even span the width of the top roll let alone hang off the sides. In other words, the cheese portion was so small that it wasn't visible unless you searched for it. The roast beef itself was absolutely the driest roast beef I've ever eaten. In fact, it actually crumbled in certain places. It had a strong flavor (gamey) and was so dry we couldn't finish it. I really can't emphasize enough the dryness of the meat. I'm really not sure how they got the meat that dry. All I can say is that the almost identical French Dip & Swiss sandwich at Arby's costs just $4.49 and it is vastly superior to the two we ordered. https://arbys.com/our-menu/roast-beef/french-dip-swiss/half-pound Let's talk about the desserts. The creme brulee ($6) was not very good. It seemed to be fairly fresh, but the recipe just wasn't up to par. The apple pie ($6) was not very tasty either. There were three pieces of it in the case and one of them was broken in half. Perhaps the fly inside the case had been dining on it. The portions were rather small for each dessert given the price. However, what really caught my eye were the individual pieces of carrot cake which were wrapped in plastic wrap. These slices had cream cheese icing and were average sized slices about 3/4 inch thick. They were priced at $6 apiece. We estimated that, given the size of the slices at those prices, an entire carrot cake would cost about $72. These were not gigantic Cheesecake Factory sized slices costing $6 apiece where the price is justified. These carrot cake slices were small to average sized portions which were just tremendously overpriced. A thin, small brownie triangle with a powdered sugar dusting was priced at $2.75. They are obviously proud of their desserts. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It was just offputting seeing the flies in the restaurant (and inside the dessert case) and watching the employee trying to swat them at the main counter while we ordered our food. Nevertheless, everybody working there was very nice. Needless to say, we were very disappointed in the food itself and thought it was overpriced and not very good. We won't be returning. read more

Very disappointed in this restaurant and don't recommend ordering a cake from here for any special occasions. I called and ordered a full strawberry cake a couple of weeks ago with no modifications for my boyfriend's Birthday because he loves it. I went early on Monday (the day of his birthday). When I went to go pick it up, I asked for the cake and sat for 10 minutes until the woman who manages the pickups came over and told me they "accidentally gave away" the cake I ordered. I guess someone claimed to have ordered a strawberry cake and the staff working didn't check the name on the order so they gave it to that person instead. She even showed me the slip with my name on it that described the cake so they had my name on the order. Mind you, they didn't say they gave it away because I didn't pick it up Sunday, they said they accidentally gave someone else the cake and didn't realize it was supposed to be my cake until I showed up. She offered me 4 slices of the cake that they had left in the display (I needed atleast 5) and she ended up cutting and separating the slices into different to go boxes instead of keeping it just a half of a cake despite knowing it was for a special occasion!! She claimed there ended up being 5 slices left, but from the looks of it, the slices are very thin from the usual slices so I'm guessing it was actually 4 slices total. She barely apologized for the situation aswell. She didn't even offer me a discount for the slices despite this terrible experience and I ended up paying probably more for each individual slice than just for one whole cake. I was beyond distraught from this experience because I wanted to make his birthday special only to be given a couple separate slices of very thin and poorly cut pieces of cake. read more

My husband and I had dinner at Cafe 501 for the first time last night. We had exceptional service and the food was wonderful. Our server was spot on with our order and refills! She was a doll. The GM Danielle runs a well oiled machine! It would probably be best to have reservations but, without one we were still seated right away. When I go out to lunch with my mom or meet up with a friend, this is my favorite place in Edmond. They have good combinations of flavor, the portions are just about right (maybe just a little more than you can eat). Some of my favorites: 501 salad, coyote crunch wrap. At lunch it's stand in line to order, during Sunday brunch and dinner its table service. Try the ricotta cookie, the mini's are perfect. read more

From the chocolate crinkle and cornflake cookies to the roasted turkey deli sandwich for lunch. The stuffed french toast is a must for brunch and the chicken parmesan for dinner is amazing. Everything at 501 is yum-o! I have been going to 501 since I was a little girl and it is still one of my favorite restaurants. They over charge for their food, but at least it's good. But if I'm going to a cafe, I want to feel relaxed. I was dressed nice that day so I felt like I fit in, but if I wasn't dressed as well, I would have felt uncomfortable. I give Cafe 501 an overall of 3/5. -1 for stuck up, and -1 for a lil pricey. The name gives it a bad image, I went in there thinking it was a Cafe. Its just a small fancy restaurant to me. Food is Excellent! My favorite lunch spot in Edmond. MAN SHOW WARNING!!! A popular lunch spot for Edmond's female population. They all are chatting and the place is FULL. ;) I think it is best if you get there early or late (between 11-11:30am OR after 1pm). Seating will be a problem around Noon. I was in a bind. I had a first date with a very attractive woman who lives in Edmond. I know Edmond about as well as I know Tibet - just never had a reason to hang out there. Thank the Gods (yet again) for Yelp. A few clicks o' the mouse led me to Cafe 501, which turned out to be the perfect spot. Our date was set for early Sunday, since she had a family thing going on later that day. We met at 501 around 10:00 for Sunday Brunch, and there was no wait despite an already respectable sized crowd. The ambiance is somewhat upscale, but the prices don't really reflect that. They have a really good selection on the menu and I opted for the Breakfast Burrito, with my date going for the Eggs Benedict. Both dishes arrived after a fairly short wait, and they really looked fantastic. The older and more snooty I get the more I appreciate chefs who take the time for aesthetics, and our dishes reflected just that. My burrito was no slouch in the flavor department either - the eggs inside were perfectly cooked and the taters that came with it were also just right. Service was efficient but not overbearing and deserved a well-earned 20% tip. Just a note - we left around 11:15 and there was a line to get in, so if you hate waiting like I do, get there early. Oh lovely find. I remember going to this place as a college girl at OC, so I rediscovered it for lunch while working. Finding healthy, nice places to eat at lunch is not the easiest for a newbie back to Oklahoma, but I think I'll be coming here on Friday again. Lovely, sunlight, breezy space and delicious food. I had the Thai Shrimp Wrap and it came really warm with some not-too-fattening pasta salad (you know how they can get). The variety in the menu is enough to keep me interested for awhile and it is relatively vegetarian friendly. I felt attended to but still able to retain a good deal of independence. A nice upscale place. I am a snob and don't really care what I pay for food, so I say cheery-o. Way to go Edmond. read more

I come here twice month and I absolutely love their lunch menu! I love their tomato basil soup and with bread pieces. I love coyote chicken hot sandwich. The pasta that comes with meal is good too. The pizza is okay, and it's small size. The dessert is delicious! I love the cakes and pecan bars are delicious. Although little over price for a slice or full cake, it's worth it :) I have tried their brunch menu as well! Definitely love the breakfast burrito. After spending the weekend visiting friends in OKC, I am still craving the salad I had from Cafe 501. A group of 5 of us went there for lunch on a Saturday and it was nothing short of delicious! I'm normally a very light eater but completely cleaned my plate here. I ordered the Mediterranean Salad and loved every bite! It was the perfect blend of salad greens, couscous, pine nuts, avocado, and pita bread. Yum! I could not stop myself though and ordered a small lemon tartlet. I always love eating with friends at Cafe 501 both in Edmond and OKC! Yesterday we ate at the Edmond location. One of my friends had the crab and shrimp enchiladas. It looked so good. I haven't ever tried their pizza so I chose the vegetable pizza; it was really great with a light crust. Last time I was here I really enjoyed the Vegetable Stack; a terrific choice for a vegetarian...so good! My husband had the Chile Relleno; he said it was really tasty. They have a fantastic dessert case...very hard to pass up! Great ambience and low noise...a delight! read more

Edmond, OK is not known for the vast quantity of bistros serving inventive and consistently good food, which is why Cafe 501 is a gem. The service is usually pretty good, though the coffee can be sub-par. Despite the fact the menu rarely changes, I have seldom been disappointed here. I recommend Jimmy's Sandwich ($10) and the Breakfast Burrito ($11) for the Sunday Brunch, which I also recommend--it's never too crowded and the service is fast. The atmosphere feels classy but don't worry, there will always be at least a few customers wearing sweat pants. My only complaint is that sometimes the staff can be moody college aged kids wearing black shirts which makes their complexions look even worse. Moderately priced, tasty food with reliable service. Very unimpressed by Café 501. From the beginning, it was a very awkward experience. We weren't quite sure whether we were supposed to seat ourselves, order at the register, etc. Answer is, you order at the register, then seat yourselves. The coffee bar is way in the back, and to find the mugs and sugar, was not very obvious. The coffee bar was in a separate location from where you get the soft drinks. I had the huevos rancheros, the meat was very dry, and really didn't have much flavor. My husband had the French toast which wasn't anything special. I could have gone to McDonald's and gotten the same quality. Sadly, we won't be back. read more

We have been here twice. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. No complaints on the food. It was good. Breakfast was overpriced considering what it was. Very snooty feel just from casual observation of the people waiting. Obviously frequented by people who make some dollars. The Boulevard Steakhouse is right next door and I think is owned by the same people. It may even share the same kitchen. Who knows. It's a good place to go if you want to impress your date. A bit too snobbish for us. So not really top on our list even though the food is good. read more

Our party of 4 came on a Friday evening around 5:45 and were seated instantly. The service was prompt and helpful, and we really filled ourselves up. To share, we had: Potachos - if it isn't clear, these are potato chip nachos. They are as good as they sound Sauteed Brussels sprouts + Kale Salad. This was the favorite dish of the evening. The dish is built around the bitter flavors of the vegetables, so if that sounds appealing to you, you should try it Our entrees, which I at least sampled some of, included: Slow Roasted Short Ribs - This ribs were fine, but it was really combining it with the gravy and polenta that stood out Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf - This was the best entree we had. It's a dense, meaty meatloaf, and the sauce is quite spicy, too. This dish is great if you're looking for something hearty Wild Mushroom Pizza - The most disappointing of the dishes. The flavor is fantastic, but the construction left the middle of the pizza with a soggy crust and floppy (not in a good way). In fact, we actually requested that they make a new one, and it came out the same, so I guess it's just how it's supposed to be. We also had the Flourless Chocolate Torte for dessert. It is almost fudge and really delicious. Overall, it was a really nice meal, and except for the soggy pizza, I have no complaints. read more

The flavors are very European, leaning French. I like quiche and salad. There is an overpowering smell of a cleaner I don't care for, but the food is always good, but overpriced. As a local, I recommend going at an off peak time, or make a reservation, as they can get very busy. read more
