11/9/2017: I figured I would update my review from 2014 with my generic "this is a great place to eat" and try to help give a few more specifics on their food. I have never had anything less than wonderful here. Last week, I had their tomato basil soup, and it was probably the best I've ever had. Not too thick or rich. All their wraps are great for lunch as well. Their dinner menu is equally as good as their lunch options. Yesterday evening, both of my parents ordered their teriyaki salmon (I've had it before, and it's consistently good). I tried the shrimp and spicy grits, and again, I wasn't disappointed. You can tell all of their ingredients are good and fresh in every single meal they prepare. I also had a cup of their chicken and veggie soup, and it was so good too. Very flavorful and heavy on the veggies, which I liked. I haven't had their desserts in awhile, but they always stare me down in the front window like a bakery. Overall, you cannot go wrong with running in here for lunch or dinner. They do get a busy at peak times, so be sure to grab a table if you see one. It is an "order at the counter and they bring you your meal" type of deal for lunch. read more

Pros: Great food and great service! I've never been disappointed with breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. More of a laid back feel inside which I tend to like more than fancier restaurants. Cons: During busy times, the "waiting area" is super cramped and awkward. Reservations are always a good idea. This location is drastically different than the Classen Curve location.. not near as nice but with the same quality of food. read more

Definitely not what they used to be!! They've changed a lot over the years, as far as their recipes. Their pasta salad was over cooked pasta with basically Italian dressing celery and carrots. Horrible! And it used to be so good that I would order a side to take home. They also used to give this cheesey focaccia bread with their salads, and it was amazing. Now they just give a half slice of white bread. The dressings have changed too. I don't like the new dressing they use in their Parmesan crusted chicken salad. Not to mention, the chicken breast was burned both times. I sent it back the first time, because I ordered my dressing on the side and they didn't make it that way. I wanted to make sure that I liked their dressing (because they've changed it so many times) before I put it on my salad. And I didn't like it. Their original was a basic balsamic and oil, and it never should have been tampered with! It was good enough to drink! Anyhow, both times they brought out my salad the chicken was burned. The second salad I had made to-go and I brought it home and fed it to my dog. (Yes, my dog eats salad. Lol) My mom and step-dad both ordered the chicken salad, and they weren't pleased. Both of them picked the chicken salad off of the bread, because the bread had raisins and nuts in it, and it was very dry. The bread is definitely and important element to the sandwich, and this was a FAIL. They also used to have a chocolate mousse cake that was to die for, and it had these beautiful round disks of milk and white chocolate on them. Oh it was heaven. But...they changed that also! Their bakery selection used to be so colorful and fresh. I was like a little kid when I was in line. I couldn't decide what I wanted. Yesterday's selection was mediocre, at best. A couple of cakes, a caramel bar, and some dry looking scones. I was not impressed at all! I tried the caramel bar, and it was actually pretty good. That is the one thing I enjoyed. They also have pretty good iced tea, but unfortunately the tea was not finished brewing until it was almost time to leave. It's like everything is cheaper now, and not as fresh or homemade. The service was just okay. I'm definitely not happy with the way things have changed, and this is how I've felt the last 2 or 3 times I've visited. It's like I keep giving them a chance because I remember how good they used to be, and I keep hoping that I'm going on an off day. But it's more than that. The recipes and ingredients are just not as good, and sad to say that was my last time visiting them. I'll have to find a new place to love. read more

The food was fantastic. The service was the worst I have experienced in a VERY long time. When we walked in the door there were no signs saying what to do (seat yourself?? order then be seated?). This was our first time to eat here but you can be sure, we will be back. The service was really good and the food was even better. We started with the Hummus Duo and really enjoyed the two different taste, both delicious and the pita chips were hot, crisp and flavorful. For our entrees, my wife had the Miso-ginger Glazed Salmon and I had a pork tenderloin special. Both dishes were excellent with the salmon cooked perfectly and the pork tenderloin tender and cooked to perfection. The jalapeno mashed potatoes had the right amount of heat and were delicious. These people know how to prepare great food. The only issues we encountered was that the tables were very small and the crowd noise was pretty loud, so a great place to eat but not for a romantic outing. read more

Our first time visit at cafe 501. We decided it was our choice for our Anniversary dinner. We were very pleased with the service...also we liked the decor as it was a more intimate setting than many other places. Without a doubt a big five stars for their drink menu with the highlight being a cadillac foam margarita. I would certainly encourage you to try this drink. Shay was a fantastic server. We visited after church on a Saturday evening to celebrate the end of our 24th anniversary week. She made sure our every need was met. We really appreciate how she boxed up the remainder of our daughter's dessert while we were playing a game with her phone. Altogether, a fantastic dining experience; we live nearby and forget about this lovely restaurant, but no longer!!!! We will be back. read more

I placed an order with Cafe 501 Edmond via DoorDash for my son's birthday. I was called a few minutes later to inform me that the items I wanted were not available and the woman that called DoorDash was TOO BUSY TO MAKE A SUGGESTION OR RECOMMENDATION FOR A REPLACEMENT ORDER. That is just poor, lazy customer service even if you are going through a third party. Your representative forgot there is a PERSON on the other end that was counting on this. I've now been left scrambling to figure out something else. It's a shame, because this was one of my favorite special occasion places for the food the in-store service and the ambiance. It will be a while before I decide to come back in any capacity. I wish I could give you NO STARS. read more

My husband and I went here for date night. Had reservations for 7:00 (highly recommend reservations) and we were seated immediately. My husband ordered the Pan Seared Salmon and I had the Santa Fe Chicken. Both entrees were delicious! Would recommend both. For dessert we ordered the Bread Pudding, and it was incredible! Probably the best we've had other than in Lafayette, Louisiana. Definitely a must have. read more

This place has great cakes and sandwiches. Their carrot cake is to die for. Their sandwiches are delicious and can be paired with a soup/salad. I highly recommend to anyone who visits Edmond or wants a delicious sandwich. The prices are a little high, but definitely worth it. read more

The place is very quiet on a Sunday morning at 9:30am. Great for a nice relaxing breakfast. They have specialty coffees but they need a bit of training on the difference between lattes and cappuccinos as I ordered a latte, but received the latter. It actually took less time for my food to arrive than it did for my drink. The food was ok, but I am used to more exciting spice when I order huevos rancheros. You will need to ask for more jalapeños or hot sauce. If you want Cholula hot sauce then you may need to bring your own since not many restaurants around this area have it. It met my needs for the day but I will have to stop for a coffee somewhere after. read more

A "must" every time I come to OKC! This time I tried the Santa Fe chicken sandwich and my friend ALWAYS has the Coyote Chicken sandwich. Both are on this amazing foccocia bread! So good! Great place for lunch! The desserts are also amazing! Had the ricotta cookie. Yum! read more

I love cafe 501 and have always loved this location. They have my favorite salad in town the 501 salad. Used to order many breads from them. They were delicious. Not sure if they still do that. The club sandwich is also very good. All their cookies are yum. And I love the Bloody Mary's here! I have always felt the food is a little on the pricey side though for it being a casual cafe but it's not outrageous. read more

I love the fresh, unique options, made with natural and organic ingredients. The flavored teas are wonderful. The only downside is it's a little pricey, but then it is in Edmond and it sits next to (and I think is owned by the same people) the most expensive restaurant in town. Parking is a little tricky if it's busy but it's worth it. read more

As a vegan, I often have to modify my order. I've never had a problem here. I ordered the BLT, asked for no bacon and hummus instead of mayo. Even though they don't have hummus on the lunch menu, they whipped it up for me anyway. They also allowed me to order this on Sunday, when the BLT isn't on the menu. Always great service. read more

I had the lunch special, an Italian chicken sandwich. The price was $12... it was served with a spoonful of macaroni salad. I opted for a cup of black bean chili, an extra $2. I would give the sandwich a 4. It needed a bit more flavor. The black bean chili was nothing more then a cup of black beans!! Not much flavor there either. Then I got 2 cake balls. $2.25 each. Although the flavor was ok, the cake part was not cake, in my opinion. They were almost truffle like. Adding all that together is why I gave them 3 stars. I ate there (Edmond Location) this afternoon and was quite pleased. Food is excellent and has been every time I've been there. Service was excellent. I can't say the same for the Triangle location though. I have been treated with disrespect by hostesses in the past and have not gone back for some time. read more

I'll start by saying the food was amazing - we had no complaints there! However, the atmosphere is bizarre and the service is a bit lacking. The inside looks like your grandmas house mixed with an outdated nightclub and the chairs are horribly uncomfortable. If I ever came back, I would order to go and eat the delicious food elsewhere. read more

Favorite cafe in Edmond! The bread pudding is delicious, and I love the portable mushroom sandwich. It has a light bread and great flavor! Be prepared for a line if you go during the height of lunch. That is my only complaint; it is so good that it is popular. read more

Great value and great experience. Don't get that level of service and level of quality of food at that price anywhere. Dessert display when you walk in and see while you order is an outstanding touch. Quickly friendly service at the counter while ordering. They repeat your order back to you which is better than half of the full service concepts out there now. And they deliver your food and pick up your plates when your finished and you pay cafe prices. My absolute favorite restaurant in Edmond! I love coming here for lunch and dinner since there are two different menus. The 501 Salad is always a good choice with spiced pumpkin seeds, blue cheese crumbles, Granny Smith apples and a light lemon vinaigrette. This goes well with the tomato basil soup if you do the "Pick Any Two." One of my other favorites is the fish tacos! The fish isn't fried, which is a big plus to me. They recently redid their dinner menu, but some items are still there. Pretty much all the fish dishes are delicious, especially the lime chipotle tilapia. I don't think I have ever had a bad experience at 501. It can get pretty busy during the lunch hours, so I suggest not coming in a big group. read more

Black bean "chili" is straight up canned black beans with no salt or seasoning and a teaspoon of sour cream. So annoyed and HUNGRY!

This particular 501 has good food most of the time. It is a hit and miss, with a restaurant like this it should be more consistent. The staff is not always very nice and helpful as well. Their desserts are pretty good and if you catch them on a good day their dinner is pretty good. I would recommend Classen Curve before this one in Edmond. read more

$12 a Sandwich. I got Turkey...the veggies and flavoring was great. The turkey was 'stale and old tasting'. Surprisingly low quality turkey. I think the quality should have been a $6 sandwich. Not enough to fill a guy up, but it was just enough for small person. Now this is a deli atmosphere. I also got a piece of $6 carrot cake...taste was ok, but the icing had that 'store icing tub' aftertaste. For $3.50 the carrot cake is at least four times better at Jasons's Deli. read more
