On a rush, stressed from studying, failing half your courses, in debt from student loans? Get yourself some caffeine and sweet carbs to drown out your depression from college life. Cafe 101 is located inside the Caesar Chavez Center at San Francisco Sate University. This is basically the college version of Starbucks. Their menu consist of pastries such as donuts, muffins, and croissants. Of course, being a cafe, they also have a similar array of caffeinated drink selections. Such as latte's, standard expressos, frappuccino, all comes in hot or cold options. The prices are also very similar to what you would pay at a Starbucks. ranges from $3-5 depending on size of the drink. Same with pastries which averages about $3 for one. The taste is pretty good. You cannot really go wrong with pastries and coffee. The drinks are average. Not the best tasting coffee there is, but it's pretty decent. I usually get the Iced Vanilla Sweet Cream in large and from my experience, it's pretty good. Though I would suggest skipping the whipped cream, it's obviously a canned one and liquid and doesn't taste good. If you're someone who loves coffee and espresso like I do, it's not necessarily the best tasting coffee, but it's inside a college campus, don't be picky. Pastries are really good, which to me are their strong point. Particularly their glazed donuts are really great. As for their service, it's fast. Not the most friendly, but hey, who has time when you're a college student trying to make a living, and dealing with other extra dramatic and annoying college students. It gets pretty hectic around the afternoon especially towards brunch/lunch time, so make sure to be patient, it's a college campus after all. Overall, it's your standard cafe. It's convenient and decent. Nothing more and nothing less. Starbucks isn't all that when it comes to coffee and food, so getting coffee here isn't the end of the world if you're used to that Starbucks chain life.

This is the best place to get coffee from at SFSU (seriously). I would rather walk a little bit extra to get here because the quality of the drinks is so much better than anywhere else on campus. I don't know how or why but even a regular iced soy latte from here tastes much better than another shop. The is my go-to spot for a quick and delicious coffee.

This is the place I go to when I need coffee on campus. Funny thing is that my boyfriend does not like coffee at all even though I'm a barista LOL Weird how he's dating me, the barista, but he doesn't like coffee. That doesn't seem right. Haha. Anyways, I remember getting an iced white mocha one day and I let him try it. He told me it was actually good. I was pretty shocked. What do they put in the coffee that makes non coffee lovers become coffee lovers? Haha

Another convenience spot fer me on campus. If I am too lazy to brew some coffee at home b4 work or i need to catch a second wind during the day iam here for my caffeine fix. Only stick with the organic mexican or sumatra cause the medium blends are how i do. Sucks during school breaks cause all they serve is the dark french--bleeggh! I try to avoid espresso (onaka ga itain kedo) but gotta do the egg-nog latte when it is avail in the holiday season. All the barristas are mostly students and depending on the time of the semester ya get horrible to great service. For kicks i make sure to come here during midterms and finals and usually have to hold back from the laughs cause major attitude is transmitted to faculty, students, and staff from all that work here. For the eats--avoid the donuts- they have the art of stale taste down packed though i know they receive new stuff every morning! (pounding fists on table) Just a travesty i tell you! The blueberry danish is the safe bet and try to beat the crazy rush here at 830a and noon, otherwise you will be waiting long time.

What's an iced gator? What's the difference between the tuxedo mocha and a mudd pie mocha?

We also had a free tea latte to claim on the Peet's app! Upon entering, it was busy, as expected since it's near the college campus. Very small shop, seating was limited. We placed our orders. I ordered my usual London Fog latte with heavy cream and SF vanilla, David ordered his cafe au lait with heavy cream and SF vanilla. We told the cashier we had a free tea latte to claim in the app and showed her our rewards. She seemed a bit confused and asked her colleague. They both came over to explain that we could t utilize our free tea latte towards the London Fog latte I ordered which is early grey tea with milk... hence, a tea latte. Strange. This is disappointing as we build our rewards up by coming into Peet's each morning to order a tea latte and cafe au lait. Hmmm.. Anyhoo. I enjoyed my London fog, David enjoyed his cafe au lait. We ordered an iced matcha latte for a friend who works at stonestown and claimed our "free tea latte" reward this way. They made it hot. I asked to remake it to iced, as ordered. I get it, they're busy here.

Order a latte ($5.75) which contained pretty good coffee beans, some cherry and chocolate notes. The barista was quick at making the drinks. The matcha is hand whisk here as well which is awesome to see. In addition, the baked goods are from local bakery in Noe Valley and there's also warm food. I'll come to try the food next. Overall, a wonderful coffee place to work and hangout.

I stopped in to surprise the wifey with some pre-Valentine's day coffee. I ordered a blueberry latte with almond milk for her and a cold brew for myself. The blueberry latte is made with homemade syrup which gave it a nice touch. The cold brew was silky smooth but packed enough energy to help jumpstart my day! Overall fantastic experience, and of course Yummy Certified!
