The food is still delicious and the service is fine. What's disappointing is the jump in cost for breakfast sandwiches and the removal of the a la carte option. Picking up a breakfast sandwich to go used to be a little expensive at $9, but now it's $17 before tax ($18.53 after tax) because the side salad or berries are no longer optional. This option has also increased from $14.50 before tax. The economic challenges are real right now, but it seems that these changes make Café Marguerite less accessible. read more

I was waiting for the Anchor to open and thought I'd grab dessert for later. I'm very familiar with their original bakery in my outer hood. I picked up a brownie in front for Basil which he loved. I settled for the apple danish which was one of the best ever. Filling in every bite and huge. At the last minute I spotted a 4 pack of hot cross buns which I have to get every lent. Nice to have a patisserie on this side of town. I've visited twice in one week. First visit 8am on Monday, not very busy. Second, Mid- morning on a Friday very busy. Thankfully the line moves along well. Here's what I've tried. Chai latte... tasty not overly sweetened, and light on the spices. Ham and Cheese Croissant... flaky, buttery and can be heated upon request. Friand au Boef... can also be heated. Contains ground beef, carmalized onions and mushrooms (at least it tastes like it). Lemon poppy seed scone... light on the lemon flavor, and not too sweet. It's very crumbly so probably best eaten with a fork. Overall, great place to grab a bite, a drink, meet with friends, have a date, or get some work done. read more

I had high hopes for this beautiful french-style bakery with its lovely interior decor and pastry options. Sadly, the pastry and drink we tried were both very underwhelming. The danish lacked all the light, airy, flakiness I'd expect and instead was incredibly dense. The chaider tasted like a basic cider that was barely warmed up - the drink arrived at our table lukewarm although the mug it was in was quite hot. It was an incredibly busy Sunday morning when I visited, so perhaps that contributed to the experience. Service was curt - not a dealbreaker for me. Street parking was easy enough to find! To have a bakery in the Northeast neighborhood is pretty great! Usually on weekend mornings it can be packed, so my suggestion would be taking the pastry to go. The manager was very courteous and would personally participate in bringing food to guests, and was proactive in checking in about the food as well. Overall I thought the savory dishes were as good as I would expect from a bakery. It was not exuberant but was sufficient in making me enjoy a good experience. As for the viennoiseries, they were very good! Whether one orders a chocolate croissant, a sticky bun-caramel nut, a cinnamon chocolate croissant twist, or a Marguerite danish, they were all hits. I enjoyed their pastry everytime I visited. I wouldn't call them outstanding, but they were satisfying for the local population and definitely worth revisiting! read more

I also grabbed an almond croissant (my favorite) which had a bit of sweetness in the middle and I couldn't tell what it was, a cinnamon morning bun which had the most lovely texture and chocolate cake donut which was okay. There's plenty of parking space around and there's plenty of seating options inside - I did grab and go. The staff at the front both didn't say much to anybody as there were plenty of people around and ahead of me when I arrived: no gestures, no 'hellos', but I assumed they had other things on their minds. Finally an amazing French bakery in Northeast Minneapolis! Welcome to the neighborhood, Marguerite! I visited today for their "soft open" launch and was blown away by the variety of pastries, fresh breakfast/lunch, and drinks. They also have a cooler of to go items like soups and salads which is great for a quick work lunch. The inside gave me some great "Paris cafe" vibes with the tiled floors and the mural of Paris on the wall. I got a vanilla donut and a blueberry muffin and both were fantastic. The muffin was super crumbly and the donut was sweet and fresh. We also ordered a cinnamon roll which unfortunately was forgotten from our bag. We had to go back and get it- not a big deal since we live in the neighborhood and it was their first day open. My boyfriend loved the cinnamon roll and said it was "a 5 star roll." I want to come back and try the chocolate croissants- they were sold out of them for the day already! We will definitely be coming back in the morning time to try them. read more

Met an old coworker here for breakfast on day 2 of opening and you'd never know this was new -- everything was seamless and it was buzzing with people! I found parking right out front on the street. I ordered an americano, avocado toast, and açaí bowl. I've visited Marguerite's twice now, once in the mid-afternoon and again this morning and have been happy with both experiences. The space is beautiful and a nice refresh to the existing Maeve's building. French music is playing, the back drop is black white and gold and feels warm and cozy without being over cluttered. I love the Paris mural on the back wall too. You order at the counter and they have your typical espresso offerings and a large assortment of delicious French pastries. Their additional food menu is pretty limited currently with 6 options for breakfast and 6 for lunch. I haven't tried more than the almond croissant which is perfect but I do wish they'd warm it for a few seconds in a toaster oven to really make it decadent. My only other suggestion to offer outside of warming the pastries would be adding a decaf coffee option as they don't have their regular coffee nor espresso in decaf. read more

Cute and cozy, vibes are good but the food is not. I'm Swiss and always look for Boulangeries when I travel and I was so excited for this little breakfast date with myself but ended up highly disappointed. The baguette was way too dense, flavor not right. Even Panera has better baguettes. The Quiche's texture was also off, almost like the egg was gelatin? I could clearly tell the egg moisture was too liquid because the cheese and meat sunk to the bottom. The flavors were good but the texture/consistency was not. I also got a blueberry Danish and the croissant part was way too dense! I tried cutting it with my fork but even the metal forks they had couldn't cut through it. I grabbed a knife (which was a compostable knife. Not sure if this is an every day thing or if it was just for today.) Well the knife broke in half as I was trying to cut a piece of the danish. A lot of the pastries were more "American like" than true french pastries. I think this would be better off being advertised as just a regular cafe and not a French Boulangerie. read more
