I like the atmosphere and ambiance of this location Bright airy with greenery and lots of plants They have a ton of seating available Wasn't a fan of the breakfast sandwich- too many sweet onions and the coffee was just mid Small size was very expensive They were dog friendly and gave my pup a treat so she was happy It's always busy no matter what time of day with hotel and non hotel guests
This place really surprised me, didn't realise it was inside a hotel lobby. We were only going to just get coffee here but saved ourselves a walk and just got breakfast here too. We ended up coming back the next day for coffee too. My only gripe, we ordered flat whites, out of four coffees the first was filled to the brim and the others about an inch gap, consistency? We got cheese and ham croissants and egg bites both very nice.
In the corner of the Emery Hotel. Ordered a Spy Girl (lavender honey latte) with oat milk. Delicious, not too sweet. Just enough lavender for flavor. Kouign-Aman - good but a little stale. Mill City Strata - a quiche of sorts. Cheesy. Good texture with the crunch of the cheese crisped on top. But all I could taste was the flavor of the cheese. Not bad but is a bit of a one note bite. They were out of forks which made eating this a bit frustrating. Came at 7:45am on a Saturday and service is a little slow. Overall recommendation, come for the coffee but grab food and breakfast elsewhere.
Spyhouse, so many plants, design is super cute. A lot of great menu options, but o settled on the ham and cheese croissant for a little bite. I saw on the menu that they had seasonal kombucha options, so I went to the counter to inquire their flavors. They had 3 on tap, and since I saw tiny cups, I asked if I could try a hit of the flavors so I could decide. Barista #1 said she can't give samples out. Ok. Craft batch Kombucha can be quite vinegary so I asked about the Poison Apple Soda, which I was told was soda water, a caffeine base, apple and a cold foam top. I ordered that, and with the croissant it ran $15. I was quickly handed the Poison Apple Soda (aptly named) because it was neon green. I asked Barista #1 if there was artificial flavoring in it and she said yes with the attitude and facial expression like I'm absolutely insane for not foreseeing that this bev would be artificial. Barista #2 was closer so I just asked if I could be refunded bc I couldn't drink it, she asked if I wanted anything else instead and I said no, so she returned shortly with my receipt that she tossed toward me. Croissant was 5/10, interior design 10/10. There's a pool table, good beats, great lighting. There's remote workers tempting, businessmen chatting, friends meeting, families with children. This spot attracts everyone, there's always a line and steady foot traffic. I finished my croissant (after warming was slightly rubbery) and am feeling like I would like a latte with maple syrup but I'm scared to get back in line (insert emoji with hands covering eyes haha). Maybe a different barista combo would have made the overall experience a 10/10, but I'm still open come back another day to give it another go.
Such a beautiful cafe to hangout in. It's in a hotel and the vibes are excellent. Long wait but delicious coffee and so worth it. Me and my friend chatted by the fireplace for hours. We loved it!
Spyhouse has a really great vibe and a ton of seating, making it a solid spot to hang out or get some work done. The staff behind the counter are incredibly friendly too. I ended up trying their espresso tonic. Honestly, it wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad either, just a pretty standard, decent version of the drink. It has that classic dark espresso layered right on top of the clear tonic, and they garnish it with a little sprig of rosemary. It looks great and hits the spot if you just want something cold. They do have some food options in the case as well, though I didn't try any of it this time around. Definitely a cool place to chill for a bit.
Was staying at the hotel and was so lucky to have Spyhouse downstairs as I was able to get freshly made coffee every single morning. I am not usually a coffee drinker, but this place has great lattes. So smooth and not too sweet, which I love! I wish they had a medium-sized drink as their small is too small, and the larger one is a bit too big. I've always gotten the bigger size and ended up finishing it throughout the day!! My favorites - chai latte, spygirl (lavender/honey latte), solid gold (turmeric latte). Still have a few others that I want to try while I am still in MN. Definitely going to miss this spot when I go back home!
This is a unique Spyhouse location as it's in the lobby of a beautiful hotel that is in an old bank building. The lobby itself is very stylish, with big dark bookshelves, large plants, big fireplace, cozy and comfortable seating, tables, a pool table, etc. When we visited it was decorated for Christmas and that alone was worth the visit! The coffee was delicious and service good. My husband and I both ordered the seasonal "Shakespeare's Fool" which was delicious in decaf and regular. The latte art on top was a plus! The only downside or thing to know is that this location will not accept Spyhouse giftcards because it is part of the hotel. I came wanting to use one, so this was a bummer but I understand and the barista was very apologetic. As a side note about the business, it's impossible to check your giftcard balance online. So while I'd like to use my giftcard, I'm unsure if I will realistically be able to soon!
Spyhouse is connected to a hotel so you'll get a mixture of people staying and people working from home that decided to spend their day here. Where you order is tucked away in the back. When we came on a Tuesday around 230pm it wa's a 2 person operations. They seemed a bit frantic as a line of 6-7 was starting to build up. Not as warm and inviting as the place was. When we asked what a few of the drinks were, you could tell they were over it. But it was just a brief interaction that it didn't affect me much. They also had pretty soft spoken voices so when they make your drink and call out your name, don't be too far otherwise you might never hear them. We ordered: Solid Gold which has turmeric, ginger, and oat milk latte. It was sweetened with maple syrup and topped with pepper. Tonic Youth which is a mango vanilla espresso tonic garnished with rosemary. It comes iced only. I enjoyed the tonic youth a touch more. I think the mango wasn't quite strong but the rosemary came out quite well. The solid gold was yummy but turmeric drinks are one shake too much from being overbearing and I think that was the case. I would order it again but ask for a dash less of turmeric. The ambiance is picturesque. The lighting feels nature. There is enough greenery in the place to help you feel grounded. There are tables, solo desks, comfortable seating, places to chit chat, places to work that gives you options of how you want to spend your time here. There is also a pool table. We played it. But the people working nearby didn't look too happy. Oh well! We had fun. There was a ledge on the planters where we set our drinks.
In town for work and wanted to find a local spot for matcha. This place turned out to be such a gem! It's not your average coffee shop--it's more of a cozy lounge vibe. As soon as you walk in, you notice the energy: people working on laptops, taking calls, catching up with friends, or just relaxing by the fireplace or at the high-top tables. The staff at the counter were friendly and welcoming, and the menu is straightforward and easy to navigate. I also loved that they have seasonal fall drinks, which was a nice touch. Definitely a great place to work, hang out, or just enjoy a good drink in a laid-back but stylish setting. What I ordered: An iced matcha latte with almond milk and honey. It was just right, without being overly earthy or sweet. I also ordered the chia pudding - which reminded me that I could do this delicious and nutritious breakfast at home. The peanut butter complimented it well and I liked the touch of fresh strawberries and strawberry preserves, it sweetened it wasn't too sweet. Definitely would go back again!
Amazed by the ambiance here. Loved the warm and earthy decor with the tropical plants and open seating space. Reminded me of being at a resort. Very classy. I ordered my favorite drink from there called the caramella. Drink made to perfection by the friendly baristas. Wait time wasn't long.
I love Spyhouse! This was my first time going to the downtown location. It was so spacious and cozy. A great place to work or enjoy coffee solo or with a friend. The solid gold is a favorite of mine. I love that it leans more towards a spicy flavor than sweet. Always a hit! Luckily, this location wasn't super busy and I was able to get my drink pretty quickly. Being that it is located downtown, the parking situation isn't my favorite. But I'd definitely go back for a visit!
We stayed near by, saw this from an Uber, and had to check it out. It's in an autograph collection hotel, so you know it's unique. I loved my Spygirl latte, and my hubby loved his refreshing beer from the next counter. There is a lot space to chill, work, gather, and just be. Highly recommend! read more

Coming here on a Sunday morning is not for the weak. There was a long line that we had to wait through and apparently this location seems to be in the lobby of a hotel. It was very loud and bustling, but lots of space and seating to hang out in or work (even though that may be difficult given how crowded it was) Despite the wait, I found my vanilla latte to be delicious. One of the better coffee I had all weekend. read more

Docking off a star because the barista wasn't exactly welcoming. Didn't say a word to me when putting in my order which was awkward and off putting. I used to work in food service and get that people might have off days but a simple "Thank you" or "have a good day" would have been enough. But wow what an incredible space! Beautiful decor and lots of seating. They have a fireplace, pool table, and bar all in one place. Great space to get some work done. Jasmine tea lemonade: 9/10 liked that this was not too sweet! Almond croissant: 6/10 a bit overbaked and dry. More dense and not as fluffy as I would have liked read more

Spyhouse is a great spot for coffee is downtown Minneapolis! This location in inside of the Emery Hotel in a very chic lobby, and the coffee shop is basically a cutout of the hotel's lobby area, fitted with lots of seating and tables. Everything we tried this time (Lavender Love Potion, Carmella iced latte, PB&J chia seed pudding, and the Strata) and before have been great! Definitely recommend stopping by for a drink and/or food! read more

Got a bacon breakfast sandwich and a honey gold latte, both were delightful. The bacon breakfast sandwich was a bit hot coming out of the oven but after it cooled down a little bit, it was great. I love the honey gold latte here. It really gives me a good start to the day. Service is nice and the ambiance is great. I love this place. read more
In downtown Minny for work and a friend from home recommended spyhouse. Easy to find entrance inside of the Emery Hotel. Open at 630am which is perfect bc a lot of coffee shops don't open til 7am. Barista was chill. Nice and cozy vibes with plenty of seating. Cold brew is smooth with a hint of chocolate. Sandwiches were also great for on the go. I also grabbed a cold brew growler which was nice to have around the hotel room. read more
I came in for a nice cold drink of coffee and this place hit the spot for me! First of all, the Caramella had just the right amount of sweetness. They really do their caramel/vanilla syrups well - doesn't taste artificial at all. Second of all, it was a hot day outside and the A/C inside blasting plus the ice in the drink instantly cooled me down. And thirdly, the space inside is really nice - it's super spacious and nicely decorated considering that it's inside the lobby of a fancy hotel. read more

This is one of the few coffee shops in the area open on Sunday, so the line was super long. Once ordering the food and coffee came quickly though. The coffee is super tasty and I got the Mill City Strata - an egg/quiche-y breakfast item on top of a focaccia. This Strata was sooo yummy and warmed up it was super cheesy as well! I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area, or need a nice spot to work! read more
Really stunning coffee shop. It is technically also the hotel lobby?? The vibe is great and there were plenty of spots to sit and do work on a weekday. Lobby WiFi was good. Service was fine, they made coffee and I tipped. I got the seasonal tiramisu latte which was great, but the iron ranger sandwich was kinda trash. A very wet, mushy, lukewarm sandwich. Thought it would be maybe toasty and warmer. Would recommend coming to try coffee but maybe do lunch at their connehotel restaurant. read more
Came to spy house coffee roasters as it came highly recommended in the area. It was easy to find thru the skyways and it is very nice looking inside and out. It was packed but we were able to find a table and sit inside and enjoy our beverages. I ordered the spy girl which was good but nothing too special I felt the flavor really lacked and I added a few packets of sugar in the raw to make it taste better. And I usually prefer black coffee. My boyfriend ordered a small hot cocoa which basically was warm milk with a tiny bit of chocolate. For $15 for two drinks it was pricey and there could probably be better coffee options in the area for sure. read more
Spyhouse offers several specials as well as classic coffee shop fare - I opted for some egg bites (spinach and mozzarella) and a blackberry espresso tonic. The bites were good and the espresso tonic light and fruity. There's plenty of seating/room to work. A great spot to pop in, especially if you're staying at the Emery Hotel! read more
I have to rave about this place for a moment. Spyhouse always has magical spaces and places but this one is particularly special as it is MASSIVE. Amazing for large groups as it would be comfy finding a space here to talk about books or other social activities like partaking in some of the games that they have around. The barista who made my coffee was super kind, welcoming, and accommodating to any modifications (i just asked for almond milk and they had so may options!). Lastly it wasn't crazy expensive, about equivalent to a Starbucks but with a much better more cozy atmosphere and a lot more seating!the aesthetic was great; lots of fun decor and neat things to look at! read more

I'm not a sweet coffee person, I typically order a cappuccino, cortado or an americano. However, it was a REALLY hot day in MN, and I really wanted a cappuccino but iced. Not a lot of coffee places will make this due to the steamed milk. The barista however, delivered! My iced cappuccino was PERFECT. Their coffee was really good, and the location was stunning! read more

Charming and relaxing coffee bar located adjacent to hotel lobby. Fast and friendly service and lots of cozy places to sit and enjoy your drink. They offered seasonal special concoctions/drinks which were very popular but I opted for a simple iced vanilla latte. read more
This place was super cool and I loved the vibe with the plants. The employees were very nice and answered my questions. First I ordered the orange crush latte and the vegan quiche (it has a different name on the menu but I can't remember it). The quiche was good, especially for it being vegan. I didn't love the orange crush, but it was more personal preference than anything wrong with the drink. I then got a vanilla latte which was delicious. Very open space, good for getting coffee with friends or doing homework. read more

A huge, spacious location to get out of the cold and enjoy your coffee. The coffee itself is fine, the shots are your typical one push button espresso shots. They have a pool table, which is a first for me in a coffee spot. The servers were a little curt, but it was busy. read more
