This was one of the best banana coffees I've ever had! The chimp in orbit was so good, and it's not easy to nail the banana flavor but FRGMNT found the right way to do it! The apple pop tart was nice and fluffy, too! The area is really cool to check out! There's a book store and art shop in the building, which makes for a fun coffee date! My only complaint is minor, but the barista taking out orders seemed very closed off and potentially frustrated that we were there. But maybe they were having a rough day? read more

Frgmnt in downtown Minneapolis is a gem, has a huge interior with ample seating, and space to spread out. The hubby and I arrived shortly after they opened one Sunday morning during our recent visit. We walked to the shop and passed the tailgaters setting up for the lunchtime kickoff. The service at Frgmnt was superb, we got a drip coffee which was bright and citrusy, then ordered a latte and a flat white. Both espresso drinks were excellent, smooth, perfectly balanced, and made just right. We also had a homemade seasonal pop tart and a maple scone. Beautiful location located in the Mill District, FRGMNT Coffee is located in the bookstore and features high industrial walls, a chill atmosphere, free wifi and studious vibes. Going in on Saturday morning, you'll find that there's a decent amount of seating and 3 stories of various rooms, halls, and the bookstore to explore and relax. I would stick with their espresso of the day with tonic and grab a bite and go sit in one of the chairs to study if you got the time. Parking is extremely limited but since I live nearby that is not an issue. There's lots of street parking within a block that isn't hard to find as well. The good- Great atmosphere for work. Super cool book store connected to the cafe. Has parking lot. The bad- I only had one drink so I can't speak to everything, but this matcha was very mediocre and more milk heavy. I think what's disappointing is I asked the barista if I should pick the matcha or the hojicha, and they recommended the matcha. (Not their fault just my experience!) read more

A phenomenal espresso tonic. That's what I'll remember about this spot more than anything. I've been to other Frgmnt locations in Minneapolis and prefer some of the other locations, but this drink was so top notch. Just perfect for a late spring morning. It's a tiny bit confusing if you're from out of town because it looks like a theater entrance (hell, is a theater entrance?) but good coffee is hiding behind those doors. Seating is pretty bunched together so it's not ideal for meetings, more for working solo IMO. The baristas were friendly, the old-fashioned donuts were incredibly tempting, and the coffee was great. I've only been to the Twin Cities a couple times but it's clear this is a winner as a go-to local coffee shop. read more

I really loved this space. Lots of natural light coming and and lots of places to sit and read or study. This location is also connected to a book store and the Minnesota center for book arts. I tried one of the limited time flavors, "chimp in orbit" - with dulce de leche, banana, and pandan flavors. I wasn't a huge fan of the banana flavor but wanted to try something new. The espresso itself was really good though so I can't complain about the coffee! Overall a super cute place I would go to again if I'm in the area! read more

My wife was in labor. It was 10 am and we needed coffee as it was going to be a long process. The hospital had a shop, two other spots were just around the corner BUT I could not take the idea of ruining a special moment with sub standard coffee and so I made the sprint here to make sure we had top quality coffee. It did not disappoint. The pastries sure helped too. As far as the place itself it's a unique spot in the book arts building which is really fun. I can't recommend this spot enough for coffee snobs like me. read more

Cute coffee shop at the entrance to a bookstore/book center/stationary esq shop. Music was nice and not too loud. Lots of work spaces with plenty of outlets around. The service was fast and friendly. I ordered a hot 10oz latte and really enjoyed it. They had some other more interesting drink selections that I may like to try next time. They also had a wide selection of pastries. I got the morning bun, which was basically like a croissant-like cinnamon bun with generously sprinkled sugar rather than frosting. I really liked it and would order again. Logistically, parking is on the street and I have no idea how it is later in the day, but 9:30 am on a Saturday was wide open. read more

One word - cute! I work around the corner from the Open Book FRGMNT location and had no idea it had opened! So don't miss it like me hahaha. It's a picture perfect place to work from, with plenty of tables and a calming, book store vibe! I was in the mood for a vanilla oat milk matcha latte, and it didn't disappoint! I would ask for two pumps of vanilla next time - I like it sweet! It was roughly $7, so by no means cheap, but... Support small! I have to comment on the lemon curd donut I had... The best ever. EVER. Soft, sweet, fresh, mmm. Shoutout to Cardigan donuts who supplies them! I stopped in to the shop around noon, and there were still plenty of donuts and pastries to go around! The location and space are really nice because you can hang out/work in the space or stop by the book shop and stationery store nearby. However, the selection for the coffee and food was not exciting. The milk options were only whole, oat, and something else (maybe almond) which is surprising because I don't think I've ever been to a place that primarily sells coffee without skim or 2%. I also got one of the classic looking donuts with glaze and I think I would've preferred some Dunkin munchkins for the price. The people working there were nice and I got my coffee quickly; however, I can't justify a return visit when the price was steep and I couldn't even get what I really wanted with limited milk options. read more

Excellent oat milk cortado. Cortado is a short espresso with milk and little foam. The temperature was perfect as was the coffe milk ratio and execution. And the have great pastries. I had a morning bun. Yum! read more

I accidentally stumbled into this location and I'm glad I did! Located in the Open Book, this coffee shop shares a space with Milkweed book store and publishing company, Loft Literary Center and Minnesota Center for Book Arts. It's quieter and a great study spot (although spaces are very limited). The menu is the same as other Frgmnt locations with good coffee and some pastries/sandwiches available. It's also all counter service so you go up to order and bring it back to your seat. read more
