I LOVE Moona Moono! What a cute and very cool coffee and gift shop to visit , study, or just to relax! It's bright, airy, with lots and lots of natural lighting. Such a peaceful vibe. The diverse coffee and tea menu offer both the classics to the fancy brews. The pastries to pair with the drinks, are so delectable since they the delightful pastries are from the renown Patisserie 46! Today, I got the Black Sesame Latte with Oat Foam, served hot since it was quite a chilly day and an Almond croissant, which was sooo good, the perfect balance of a flaky exterior with a rich, nutty interior. Heavenly! I also got the opportunity to meet Angie Lee, the founder of Moona Moono! I told her how much I LOVED her shop and how much Minneapolis needed a shop like this. Angie appreciated my feedback and she told me the backstory to the name of the store! The name "Moona Moono" is a rough translation of two Korean words meaning "culture octopus," representing the various "tentacles" or facets of the Asian American experience. How COOL is that? I went away from my typical latte and opted to try a Lavendar matcha. The person helping me was excellent, answered my silly questions, and offered great advice. I enjoyed the iced matcha very much. Finally was able to try coffee from the spot after stopping in a few times to donate while they were collecting items to donate to people in need (which automatically gives them five stars based on how wonderful they have been during these tofu times). I grabbed a latte to go to walk my dog around the lake and the location is perfect for this. The staff was so friendly and the shop is adorable. So many local items and little knickknacks you could spend some time wandering around. I really Enjoyed my latte with housemade lavender syrup. Omg such a cute spot!!! Loved their peppermint mocha (hot) drink. I think it's seasonal..so try it before you have to wait the next season! They had other unique drinks but I couldn't help but stick to the one drink I enjoy. In the cafe store, you're welcomed by one of the staff at the front who runs the store front with all the cute stationary, kitchen cutlery and other cute miscellaneous nick backs around the store where you can peruse. It seems like a lot of the products there are Japanese-based or imported from out-of-state artists, too. Some things are a little pricey so be careful not to indulge too much in the cuteness of everything. The cafe is in the back corner with plenty of tables for folks to sit and enjoy their drink. I've see some people do a bullet journal date there, set up their mobile office and come out to socialize. It's a good spot for whatever tickles your pickles at a coffee/tea shop! Parking is tricky since there's no lot. They do have parking meters around the building. It can get crowded so prepare for some laps around the building! read more

I wasn't impressed, I'd heard so much about their matchas I was expecting so much more. Also super hyped on social media so in person disappointment was real. I got the strawberry matcha and the flavor of matcha was absent 100%, it tasted like water. Clearly was a pitcher matcha but for $10+ I wanted more matcha flavor. Call me crazy. The cafe itself is cute and has a little shop with adorable Asian goodies and products. But sadly Starbucks has better matcha. LOVE! I am sooo excited this spot came to Uptown - it's a great new staple on Hennepin! SPACE This space is part shop, part cafe with seating options. It's bright, airy, and not super cramped - with lots of natural lighting and a clean, peaceful vibe. This is a quite large space with tons of seating! I was pleasantly surprised by how much seating there was and had no problem getting a table for myself. SHOP I didn't look through the shop a ton, but loved the simplicity and clean displays. Some fun Korean / Asian goods, from ceramic bowls to cookbooks to blind items and Asian packaged snacks. Lots of cute kawaii trending items here! Great for gift shopping. CAFE I love the simple yet curated menu here! I'm a matcha gal so I was thrilled to see their specialty matcha menu. I went for the strawberry matcha. They asked how I wanted it - more strawb, more matcha, or even and I went with more matcha. I'd go more even next time! But the matcha was delicious: clearly fresh, quality, and well prepared. LOVE this place. I'm so excited this spot landed in Uptown. It has definitely become staple. The space is beautiful. Bright, airy, and surprisingly open with tons of natural light pouring in from the windows. It has that rare "wow this feels good to be in here" energy. Plenty of seating and it never feels cramped, which makes it perfect for hanging out, working, or meeting up with friends. Easily one of the most vibey coffee shops in the area. It's also part shop, which makes it even more fun to browse. There are so many cute Asian-influenced items, from ceramics to packaged snacks to fun little gifts. You could easily spend time just looking around. Drinks were excellent but PRICEY! I had the black sesame latte and the mango matcha, and both were so good. Unique, well balanced, and clearly made with care. The pastries were also delicious. Service was friendly, and the whole experience just feels calm, aesthetic, and enjoyable. The place was very busy when I went around noon on Saturday. I ordered an iced Maple Latte with almond milk (no extra charge for alternative milk!) and a Kimchi Pastry, both were delicious. Although the line for coffee was abnormally long, I just browsed their large selection of stationary, ceramics, glassware, skin care, and so much more. Checked out Moona Moono for the first time yesterday and loved every bit of it! It has such a bright energy when you walk into it. I think one of the owners or managers came around greeting everyone and asking how we were which was so sweet and nice. The service was also quick and there were plenty of options to choose from - matcha, coffee, and lemonade. I enjoyed browsing all the items and got some KBeauty skincare to take home! I'm so glad I have another place to get the sunscreen I use because sometimes it can be hard to get at other places. At the back is a coffee and tea bar with a display case of pastries and some tables in front. To the right of the store, there is a nice space with tables for hanging out, working, or studying. I ordered the Black Sesame Latte and purchased a coaster and some cute dog-shaped paperclips. The latte came out quickly. It is one of the best Black Sesame Lattes I have had. It is smooth and creamy. The black sesame flavor comes through in the cold foam and the foam added a nice texture to the drink. Overall, giving Moona Moono a 5/5. It is a unique shop to find cute (but functional!) things. The staff and friendly, and the space is great for studying or working. Such a fun new spot! I believe this used to be paper source and it's such a nice shop/coffee shop. Tons of natural lighting and the drinks options are super fun along with the pastries. I got the blueberry matcha but be warned there are small blueberry pieces in it so it gets stuck in your teeth haha! The lavender flavor was pretty good. They offer almond and oat milk alternatives. The store part of Moona Moono was very cute! Nice to know that you can get Hirono blind boxes here, with a small assortment of stationary, k-beauty, household items, and more. There is also quite a bit of seating but on a Friday afternoon, getting a spot to sit and do work was a little challenging. I also tried a friends dalgona latte. Again it was okay, but nothing special. It's a cute place and very aesthetic, but I probably won't come back (unless I want a blind box). read more

A cool cafe in the heart of uptown! Street parking was easy to find, but you would have to walk a block or two if you go during weekend. Cafe itself is very modern and it seems like it's straight out of a k-drama. Retail stores have a lot of bags and socks from Baggu and good amount of Korean skincare brands. So, you can get it in person versus overseas shipping. Some of the items we liked (toys, pins) are definitely on the pricer side. Strawberry matcha is definitely THE BEST I've tried in twin cities. I am sure their strawberry purée is made out of real strawberries instead of grocery store syrups. We split a large drink and the price difference between medium and large is only $1, which is pretty good. Prices are average and they offer a lot of specialty drinks. This is definitely a place to go to if you are a matcha fan like me :) Theres seating area in front of where u order as well as an extended area with more tables. Service was also very fast and bathrooms were super nice too!! Definitely a 10/10 read more

Finally got to check out Moona Moono on this wonderful sunny day! I got the strawberry matcha on the more strawberry side with oat milk and a matcha doughnut. The strawberry matcha was okay, when I sip on the strawberry portion it tastes great however when I am drinking just the matcha it does taste a little bland. I am not someone who has a hard time with pure matcha but I do think this tasted a bit bland. I think the addition of some honey would do the trick. The doughnuts were fabulous and fresh! They were soft and chewy and the matcha flavor was good however it did not stand out to me. Overall I love the concept of the cafe with Korean makeup and skincare products and other Korean brand items available for purchase. I was sad when Papersource left the Uptown area and was worried It was going to be sitting empty like some of the surrounding business fronts. When I found out that Moona Moono was taking over the space and when I learned what it would be turned into, I was beyond excited. I followed them instantly and was anticipating the day they opened. We went the day before their actual grand opening and took a peek. The decor is simple and gorgeous. I love the vibe they were going for! It feels so clean and... Airy? I was a little surprised there wasn't more in the store but it also was a soft opening so it kinda made sense. I was so so so excited to find out that they had a pretty decent selection of Korean skin care there! It is a little pricier than ordering it online but the convenience is amazing and totally worth it in my opinion. I loved that she had little informational signs around the area for people who were new to it. I really hope in the future it expands and maybe they bring makeup in as well! They had a small display of stationary things and I was a little underwhelmed but I have a feeling as they get more comfortable it'll expand. The houseware section was also pretty limited but I loved the beautiful minimalistic bowls/plates they had. In my opinion they were a fair price as well. The toy section was so cute. They had a great selection of blind boxes! It was hard not to buy all of them lol. Lastly we went to the cafe to try it out. The staff was friendly and doing very well! We got the Dalgona Latte and the Strawberry Matcha. Both were great! I loved the tart strawberries at the bottom of the drink and I felt like it had a perfect matcha taste. The Dalgona latte is definitely sweet but if you like that (which we def do) it's really yummy!! I hope in the future they come out with more fun specialty drinks!! I would come here all the time to try out every new flavor. There is a decently sized cafe area where you can sit and hang out. I would love to come here and do homework or read! Moona Moono is a cute cafe offering drinks, delicious donuts, and Asian goods. I came here with a group of friends on opening day as we were excited to see it opening in Uptown area! I tried the Yuzu Tea, Matcha Butter Donut, and Yuzu Poppyseed donut. The donuts were magical - my favorite part of the visit! The matcha and yuzu flavors matched perfectly with Bogarts already great recipes. The Yuzu Tea was a major let down though. To charge so much money for what was obviously just a spoonful of ginger lemon honey and water felt like a joke to me! They ran out of matcha for matcha drinks unfortunately, so I can't speak to the quality of those. My partner also thought his Dalgona latte wasn't great. They may have just been overwhelmed with the massive line. As for aesthetics, the space is calming and there is a small area for sitting that gets plenty of sunlight. On a not so busy day I think it would be a great place to relax and treat yourself to a surprise box or drink and pastry and read for a bit. The staff was so nice and patient. You could tell they're very happy to see such a big turnout! Street parking was plentiful and my whole friend group was able to find a spot despite how busy it was!
