Coming home from Florida we went surfing the web for a Mexican restaurant on the way home to Savannah. Found Cactus Mexican Restaurant in Brunswick, GA. A short distance from I 95, this place will not disappoint. It is by far the most authentic and delicious food I e had in at least 20 years. Everything about this establishment is A+. From the food, the service,, the atmosphere, the drinks and probably the cleanest rest rooms I e ever been in, other than my own. First time here. Husband and I came and decide to try it out. I got the sopes and man, they reminded me of being back home and how mi abuelita use to make them. Food was fantastic. Service was great. We tried this relatively new restaurant this week. (We moved from California to the East Coast where there are much fewer options for Mexican food). For starters, i asked for "special" sauce, aka Non-Gringo sauce (im a gringo and can say that). They brought out an awesome habanero sauce! It went great with the chips. The food was great! I had the Birria tacos and the birria sauce was perfect. They also had more Mexican beers that are less typical on the East coast, such as Sol. Overall, everything was great. Return customers...we came before voting. Always spot on service and great food. I got the brilla tacos and hubby got shrimp cocktail. Both were delicious and we were served by excellent wait staff. Food was satisfying, nice music and an overall yummy late lunch. I have to say, this is one of our go to restaurants. Thanks for having this in our great city center!! Recently tried this place after driving by it numerous times. We went on a Saturday evening and had no problem getting in with just two people. The staff was attentive and sat us down near the back windows. The waiter brought over some chips and salsa. Salsa was ok. The waiter took out drink order and made a few recommendations. I ordered street tacos and my date had a cheese enchiladas with a mole sauce. The sauce has a nice kick to it. The food arrived in a decent time and it was delicious. I will go back to this place and try something else on the menu. read more

The 2 servers were very gracious and the tacos were GREAT! I'm a San Diego girl in Georgia missing Mexican food very much! We had carnitas, al pastor and carne asada tacos. The salsa verde and habanero sauce were on point! We will definitely go back to try the Agua Chile Verde! read more

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food this is not the place to go. If you think salt and pepper is spicy seasoning this maybe this place for you. The salsa was watery and tasted like garlic pizza sauce. The chorizo queso was also very watered down kind of the theme here as well as their so called "hot sauce." The portions were grand but left a lot to be desired you can't compensate bad flavor with huge portions. The service from VVS was lackluster and at one point the bartender told him to come refill our drinks while he was standing at the bar on his phone. The only desirable thing to look at was the bar and it was decorated and whatnot, but as far as the rest of the restaurant it lacked any sort of decoration and the outside patio looked similar to a prison with busted up picnic tables. Would compare it to the review I left on Nacho Mama. Would not recommend spending your hard earned money on this sub par so called Mexican food. Will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Great experience on Halloween. Fan of Mexican food. Tried soft Chimichanga for first time. Just enough spice to suit me. Took home half of my fried chimichanga. Prices very reasonable, lots of food. I'm going back with friends so we can share several dishes. read more

service was amazing everyone was super nice BUT i ordered a quesadilla the cheese literally tasted processed im not kidding the meat was okay it could've used more flavoring in my opinion. And another this the salsa looks and tastes like it came from a jar from the store. the atmosphere is nice and relaxing the only problem i had was the food which is like the most important thing in a restaurant. If you do come here though i recommend the fajitas they are delicious. It is a little pricey here though so be aware of that. if you were to visit brunswick Georgia the best mexican restraunt i recommend is Don Ponchos or La salsa! read more

So much potential. Let me start by saying I really hope this restaurant will be successful and was really excited about having access to a new Mexican restaurant. We came for lunch and an HOUR later we left without having lunch because it never came, True, they had a really large group in the restaurant and most of the tables were full. We ordered a guacamole appetizer and it was wonderful. We ordered our lunch right away. After that, we had to ask about our order several times only to be told it would be out soon. When we decided to leave without waiting for our food, the server was very apologetic and embarrassed. The manager/ supervisor never came by the table and when we decided to leave, her response was "sorry, big tables take more time than small tables." What she should have said was "what can I do to make this right? Our kitchen was overwhelmed but please come back another time and we will give you a free appetizer or something." The server's apology felt very authentic but the manager appeared to be disinterested, perhaps because she spent most of her time with the large group and ignored most of the other tables. nice people, and restaurant, clean, pleasing in all respects. I hope they succeed from Oct 2025 startup. here is some advice. Fajitas prob the best deal, generous portion, a bit pricey, too salty, and only twice did I have to spit out some inedible thing. Chimichangas are a sham. the ground beef Is mixed with beans inside the chimi, so it is cheapified. the ends of the tortilla are folded closed to create a big lump of dough on each end so you wind up with a very short portion that has meat. other restaurants offer pure meat not adulterated with beans, some shaved beef, some ground, but excellent. that is what you need to do. if the chimi were free, I would pass up on it. the "beans?" were just liquid, like gravy, what is this? the margarita is served in a very pretty glass, very wide, very shallow, full of cubed ice, with a bit of margarita pored in, not much marg at all, mostly ice, for a nice price with tax and tip around $13 or better. I wont get that again. Be leery of asking for something that seems in short supply but usually provided if asked for. they might charge extra for it. You will be asked, publicly, repeatedly, how was the food. No one wants to complain with the whole crowd listening, for that ruins it for everyone. read more
