On a hot summer day, we stopped in for lunch and we're quickly seated at a comfortable booth. They do have quite a few areas for seating choices including an outdoor entertainment stage, an outdoor patio where some guests were smoking, an outdoor bar, and an indoor bar. I got a burger and onion rings, and they truly hit the spot! It was perfectly prepared, and delivered hot by the kitchen staff - a nice touch, since it came out hot and fresh right off the grill. Our waitress was Rebecca, and she was also terrific, consistently refilling drinks, and offered us a drink to go. We were staying at the La Quinta Inn which is right next-door to this business. Ordered ahead online and picked up on the way in and we were both pleasantly surprised how good our dinner was. I ordered the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Hamburger steak had cooked onions on top and the hamburger itself was a nice portion and very tender. Mashed potatoes and gravy were quite good and the broccoli it was cooked perfectly. My wife had the adult chicken tenders which were nice pieces of hand cut chicken breast lightly Brad and fried perfectly. There were six large pieces and she also got mac & cheese which was more than adequate and had a nice flavor to it. Would gladly return next time we are traveling 95 and staying in Brunswick. We were driving back to Florida from South Carolina and decided to stop here for some lunch today. It was a great decision because it is right off the exit from 95 and it was great. It is somewhat of a sports bar with good food. The menu offers appetizers, salads, handhelds and burgers, and several entrees. I went with the Philly cheesesteak with a side of steamed broccoli. The sandwich tasted great with plenty of steak, onions, peppers and cheese. My husband had the ale house burger. It had bacon, mushrooms, cheese, onions and guiness sauce on it. He also chose onion rings for his side. He enjoyed both his burger and his onion rings. Service was fairly quick. read more

I'm not sure how anyone could rate this place less than 5 stars. From the outside it looked cool. Then when I walked inside the initial host was seriously a totally great young man for my entering. Then since I was alone, I sat at the bar table and the waitress was totally perfect the whole time. The food I got was seriously perfect for real. I thought this was a Mexican place for some reason, but it is a sports bar. They were really busy but we were seated right away. Our server came quickly and took and delivered our drink orders. We ordered the shrimp app. I cannot remember what it was called but they had a sweet and spicy glaze. They were cooked perfectly and there was plenty for 2. I chose the Philly cheese steak with tots. The meat was real steak. Not the thin processed stuff you get some places. There were plenty of onions but no peppers or mushrooms so they missed it there. The cheese was provolone and there was plenty. Tots can be tricky. These were perfectly crisp and not mushy so they did a good job with that. The server was very friendly and got everything right, however I think they were very understaffed. We could see our server constantly but she had a lot of tables and did not get to our table often. The staff here was very friendly, but our takeout order unfortunately got mixed up. After a long day of traveling, we picked up what we thought were a shrimp po' boy, seafood chowder, and Brunswick stew, but ended up with chili instead of the soups we ordered. My husband even went back to fix it, but we still didn't receive the right items. By the time we got to our hotel, the food had been sitting awhile, so some things (like the onion rings) didn't hold up well. The po' boy lettuce also had dark edges that weren't from the wait. Worst service of 2026 for me. Took about 30 minutes just to get our drink order in. Took a complete hour to actually place our food orders. Our waitress had no help. I had to ask the manager if he could provide extra help for her. It did not happen. Ordered two Shirley Temples and she had to go to the bar and make them herself. Upon arrival, I requested a specific area, away from the middle and asked if we could be seated in one of the open booths next to the wall (I was waiting for two of my elderly friends to arrive and one had made that specific request). Then the male host ignored the request entirely and tried to suggest an area completely different and in a highly populated seating area to which I repeated that the original request and explained that it was the request of my elderly company that would be arriving soon. The part of the evening that was the reason for this post was not the food, the food was great, I ate every bite. It was the fact that I left a large cash tip, but was charged for one of my friend's checks on my card (though I was given the correct receipt). My order was less, because I ordered a water with my meal and she ordered a beer. (Note: they charged her for a Tea that she neither ordered or drank). The waitress was not on her best game and no obvious reason seemed to be enough of a reason to be off her game. The center of the room stayed empty and there were only a few people in there, so it wasn't due to being super busy. I doubt that I'll return. My elderly friend suggested going there, I've only been approximately 3x before last night, but I can't afford for those types of mistakes to be made. Again, the food was good, but often times it's the service or lack there of that decides whether or not I'll return there. It's a matter of trust for me. There's nothing terrible here. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger rare, and it was halfway between medium rare and medium. Still edible, but a little disappointing. The bun is boring. The bacon was basically just warmed up--it should be golden, not off-white. The fries were dry, the onion rings were greasy. I think I'm making it sound worse than it was. It was just mediocre. Best stop off the highway! Easy to get to, easy to dine in. Met friends here on the way to Fl. Definitely would stop back by next trip. They have a HUGE menu!!! Helpful and friendly staff that did a good job and seemed to actually care was a huge perk. The food was generous portions and reasonably priced. Stopped here to have dinner while traveling to North Carolina. The parking lot was jammed which is always a good sign. Typical ale house set up. My wife and I decided to split a meal and decided on the shrimp and fish dinner. The fish portion was huge and fried to perfection. The Coating very crunchy and seasoned very well. Traveling through from Cape Coral, FL to Myrtle Beach, we stopped for the night around 9:00. Googled restaurants near out hotel and Toucans came up as a late night eatery open until 11:00. We went and sat at the bar. I had the chili and my husband had the wings. Both delicious!! Heidi was our bartender/server. Super friendly and conversational. I would give it 0 stars if you could. The restaurant was not busy. I was seated quickly and server asked what did I want to drink. I asked for an unsweetened iced tea, she brought water, I didn't mention it, she clearly wanted to be somewhere else. When I ordered my Turkey club sandwich with no cheese and the avacado ranch dressing on the side, she never asked if I wanted the fries , tots or onion rings (1.00 extra). After waiting 20 minutes and where I NEVER saw this server again, I left the restaurant. Secret shopping and dining is a must For businesses. This location failed miserably. There was no excuse for waiting that long for a club sandwich. I had been there many times before and never had an issue. I will not be back. Other restaurants who are more attentive will get my hard earned money. And even though I am a solo diner, I always leave 5.00 Minimum for a tip. And, I'm very easy to serve and get along with. Toucans remodeled a year or so ago however the chairs n tables, and majority of rest of restaurant, still looks the same. Sports bar feel with a lot of TV. So if you want to watch the game this is a good place to check out. Our waitress was really friendly. The crab stew was homemade and full of crab , it was also really good, it came out a little cold at first but our waitress fixed it right away. Stopped in for lunch while traveling on 95. The sign on the building said "fresh, local caught shrimp". Sounds great I thought. Turned out to be the biggest mistake of my trip. First, if you're not a regular, expect to be treated with indifference if not ignored. The " fresh caught local shrimp" was actually frozen popcorn shrimp straight out the SeaPak bag. The menu said it came with fries & hush puppies but I only got the fries, which frankly were the only edible part of the meal. If you're thinking of stopping here, DON'T. One star is too generous. We came here hoping for a good meal. What we got was a masterclass in how not to run a restaurant. After being seated, we waited and waited... and waited some more. No appetizers. No entrees. Just the sound of our stomachs eating themselves. After nearly an hour--and multiple times asking--we finally got our appetizers. Cold. Lifeless. Like they had been sitting on a counter just hoping we'd leave. The entrees? Never even showed up. To add insult to injury, they comped the appetizers in some kind of guilt-fueled gesture, which we never asked for. We were willing to pay--we just wanted food. Only saving grace was our server Jewel, who was hustling and clearly embarrassed by the whole circus behind the scenes. Drinks came out quick, which is good because we needed something to get us through the disaster unfolding at our table. The kitchen? Completely dysfunctional. This isn't a restaurant--it's a trap. When you order an 8-piece of WINGS, you expect at least 50% of your order to be flats/wings, right? Wrong. I received 7 pieces of drumsticks and 1 wing. I had just landed and returned to the Brunswick area after a 26-hour flight. I was so hungry that I didn't notice until halfway through my meal. Stopped halfway on our ride to NC and decided to try this place. Parking lot was packed but we got a seat pretty quick. Lots of things on the menu and we were very hungry so hard to decide. We started with some Brunswick stew. Very tasty and thick. More like a chili than a stew but pretty good. Next we split salads, one house and one ceasar. Both were tasty and fresh. The caesar was a tab over dressed though. For my main I got the hamburger steak with onion gravy and steamed broccoli. Very good flavors but the hamburger was over cooked. The broccoli was perfect. Deb had the cajun shrimp with mac n cheese. Shrimp were very well cooked and tasted awesome but the mac n cheese needed seasoning. Was just too bland. Over all a sold stop for a decent meal at a decent price but nothing that will wow you.
