We are new to the area and someone made a suggestion to check out Zuzu's in the downtown village area of Saint Simons Island. This was an absolute home run if you like hamburgers. they also have cold beverages, ice cream, and many other food options but if you are the least bit hungry and looking for great lunch option, we highly recommend Zuzu's Restaurant. We came across a place near the pier that we had seen before but never tried. A small Bistro called "Zuzu's". First time WONT b the last time I assure you! I would give ZUZU's 5 stars except I couldn't contact them by phone or online. They also do not have d a current menu available anywhere. The good news is their food, (especially burgers), is great. Generous proportions cooked exactly right on tasty buns. The sweet potato fries are done exactly right. They now have a liquor license and offer happy hour specials. Check them out. Take 5 Burger w/ fries: 9/10 A hole in the wall spot on the pier of SSI that has one of the best burgers!! Most people stop in for their amazing ice cream, but their food is just as delicious. It's a tiny little place with a few booths and tables with quick in and out service. The burger is freshly cooked and simply amazing. You can taste the flavor and freshness of it. I only took off a point because the bun could be a little better quality. Their specialty burgers are only $13 and come with your choice of sweet potato/regular fries, coleslaw, chips, or onion rings. The price of the burger for the portion and taste is a steal in my opinion!! Awful. Terrible. Go somewhere else. Ordered grilled shrimp and got fried shrimp. Owner/waiter rolled his eyes when I brought this to his attention. One in our party had dairy allergy and mentioned it when ordering, mayo top bun, and bottom bun. After another eye roll, changed top bun but still had mayo on bottom bun. Must have dumped a bottle of cumin on it. Place dirty. The night before owner/waiter was sitting in booth resting his hairy leg on the table. Not going back until it changes hands. We got our drinks within an approximate amount of time and then gave our orders. 4 hamburgers which took forever and were cold when they arrived. And were over cooked. I stopped by Zuzu's for ice cream on my way to the pier. It's a local fave that was recommended by many. Know that's it's an older establishment (and it shows signs of old age) that likely holds lots of fun memories. It has that local diner feel that made it a bit more fun for me. Located in the Village area of St.Simons this restaurant is a basic appointed establishment but the burger they serve is very good. My wife had the cheese burger & I had a plain burger and both had lettuce tomato & onion with ketchup & mayo. The burger is a 1/2 lb piece of meat and was cooked to a med-well temperature and was still juicy! The fries were ok as they were a bit limp-soggy but were tasty as they had the skins on the outside. Cole slaw is vinegar base and finely shredded and is tasty. Our serving was not wet as some can be at several BBQ style restaurants but was tasty and still moist. The service was quick and food was served in about 15 minutes from ordering. If in the village area it is a good spot to grab a good meal at a decent price. Our meal with tip was $33. Cute place. We selected this place to eat based upon good reviews. We asked for our burgers to be cooked medium rare. They both came out well done. We did inform the wait person after 2 bites. She asked if we wanted the burgers to be redone. Took quite long to be done the first time and as we were so hungry, we said no. Overall, the flavors of the addons were very good. Just would have preferred meat cooked correctly. They did give us a 25% discount on the check so that was appreciated. read more

Recommend the Trio Salad which includes generous scoops of their homemade chicken salad, tuna salad and egg salad along with greens and choice of dressing. It could have used just a bit more greens in my opinion. Overall the salad was pretty good and didn't even need any dressing. The wings were good too! Well, our St. Simons Island culinary luck continues. Still not a bad meal on the island. Last night we decided to try a local "dive", Zuzu's. It is in the pier district in the heart of St. Simons Island. The interior is eclectic and the floors worn from decades of sanded feet. I really didn't have high expectations. The wife ordered a salad and I chose a hamburger all the way with sweet potato fries. Our server brought our sweet teas promptly and things started to really look up. Oh my gosh, my burger was truly phenomenal. No exaggeration, it tasted just like a homemade burger. And the sweet potato fries were delicious. We tried this spot for the very first time today. Our favorite, Sandcastle Cafe just next door, was a little full and had stopped the breakfast buffet. We had a 45 minute wait there so we went to Zuzu's. We were pleased they were able to accommodate us. They were short-staffed but served us beautifully. The waitress was very accommodating. They do charge automatic 18% gratuity for parties of 5 and up. Parking is ample outside along the pier. The food was delicious, cooked-to-order, and hot. I loved the double cheeseburger. It reminded me of the ones my Dad used to make when we were growing up. The ambience here is very diner/dive-like. They are not fancy, but the food is very good and fulfilling. I didn't see any desserts on the menu. Give them a shot on your next trip to St. Simon's. read more

If you don't care about hygiene, this is your spot... tables are sticky, seats have crumbs, and the cooks do not wear hairnets. We only came here for lunch because lines were longer at other restaurants. We ordered the Double Cheeseburger with Hand Cut Fries, the Cuban sandwich with Onion Rings, and Lemonade. The Lemonade was freshly squeezed and the Cuban sandwich was decent, but it came with only five semi-tasty, non-crispy Onion Rings. As for the Double Cheeseburger, the flavoring was good, but the patties were so thick that the juice spills out and turns the buns into a mushy mess. Taste overall was 4/5 for the burger. This place has always been a favorite but it's just recently replaced all staff/management. Went in on a weekday at noon. It was full and they were also doing phone in/pick up orders. They could not keep up at all. Several parties left because the wait was so long. They looked so disorganized and when the food finally came out, while the burgers tasted fine the cheese on them was wrong and the fries were undercooked. Either train your employees properly or hire people who know what they're doing! read more

Best burger ever! It's best for takeout as the restaurant is a hole in the wall and needs a serious deep cleaning. One of the main (meaning there every time I'm there) employees (maybe owners) is very friendly and the other is more no nonsense, not rude but not overly friendly. Don't waste your time or money with Zuzu's. I've heard from many friends that this is a great place to eat, must have been in the past. Instead, head to Frostys. Great food and even better service I called for a takeout order since I had my dog with me. The employee seemed very disengaged and sounded like he wanted to end the call. Not helpful with the ordering process. No total and no time frame. When I arrived to pick it up, he charged me twice for an order. When I mentioned that wasn't correct, he proceeds to argue with me and make a big deal about it. When my ordered finished, they let it sit on the counter for a bit before calling my order. He seemed very distracted flirting and working a deal with some 16 year old girls over ice cream. I also wanted to point out that not one employee had a mask or wore gloves.
