Can we stop and talk about how awesome Jekyll and Tide is. Listen, it's no question that the island is known for seafood and classic southern American cuisine, but Jekyll and Tide takes that and elevates it with a twist. The only island on the restaurant that offers Asian versions of the classic shrimp and grits, using coconut curry and coconut infused grits. I sat at the bar and started with a cocktail. It was fantastic. Ordered the catch of the season, which happened to be halibut. Expertly prepared with a piri piri sauce and roasted veg. Javier recommended the key lime pie which he said was made in house. I'm telling you, as someone who grew up in Key West, this is better. This place is a real destination restaurant and I will make sure I come back here next time I'm on the island. read more

Located inside a condo area at the far end of the island, but it literally only takes like 15-20 mins to drive around the whole island. There were 2 sides to the restaurant, the dining area and the tavern area. We opted for the quieter dining area. We weere the only ones on this side and i liked the quiet and romantic feel of it. Got the aracini for appetizers and they were crunchy on outside and flavorful on the inside, rice was cooked perfectly. The bread was really good, soft and warm with garlic butter on top. i got the shrimp pasta which I was very happy with. Husband got the snapper with peri peri sauce...Alternatively you could get a different sauce that cones with other veggies but he decided on this one since it should have a spicy kick to it. Portions were good, I finished all my food which is rare. My cocktail was good, I dont recall names of them but I didnt libe the husband's though he enjoyed it. From the minute we walked in we were greeted by the most friendly hostess. We made reservations on the Tavern side. We were given a cozy table with a nice view of the restaurant. Our server was Jordan. She was very friendly and very attentive!! She is great at her job. We ordered the Greek salad, hanger steak, mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The salad was chilled, crisp and flavorful....just the way a salad should be served. Our steak was tender and so flavorful. The potatoes and vegetables were so delicious we googled them all down. Had the restaurant served bread pudding, we would have ordered desert. Also, throughout our meal other staff checked on us. They asked if we were enjoying our meal, would you like the lights dimmed a above us. The whole staff helps each other out, so your never waiting for food or for food to be cleared. Came in for the Shrimp Scampi, but unfortunately they ran out of shrimp. Ordered the hanger steak with green beans and smashed potatoes instead. The meal with delicious and our server was nice. Nice decor as well. Possibly the best restaurant on the island. read more

Food really really good. Well-seasoned and flavors on point. Came out fresh & hot. Server gentleman was very nice. Drinks were great--you can get one in a to-go cup for "dessert" later if you ask! The decor was a little scattered ...like someone tried to drag it out of the nineteen nineties... but was not completely successful. You initially see the dining room when you first walk in, and it has a more clean and formal vibe. As walk-ins on a Tuesday night in August at only 5:30 pm with 2 teens, even though we were all dressed nicely, we were instead sent to the bar area, which I initially resented...but it was actually more comfortable and cozy in there and I grew to like it better than the empty dining troom (which stayed empty the whole hour and a half we were there...?). There were a couple of families with toddlers in the bar area as well...everyone who came in was seated there...we left at around 7 pm and still no one had been seated in the dining room . Anyway, back to the food... We ordered WAY TOO MUCH for a family of four, but things were called small plates so we expected them to be small...they were not. :D We loved the "small plate" of fondue...it had a bunch of things that don't really seem to "go" together on it, but the food was tasty so it was great anyway...a generous helping of country ground mustard, tiny pickled veggies, smashed roasted potatoes, and a huge bowl of fondue with caramelized onions in it with 4 or 5 huge slices of toasted bread...our teenager scarfed that fondue down! Also it was NOT a small plate...it was a very large plate...split by 4 people it would be good for an appetizer for all 4. They should call it a "family plate," not a small plate. The appetizer of dinner rolls (no, they do not come free with your meal) were light and delicious. Kind of like a very light, airy brioche with grated parmesan and chopped garlice chives on top. The Asian flavors were accurate and on point...we eat a lot of Asian food...we tried the Korean-style pork belly and it was GREAT. The kimchee on it was nice and sour and flavorful. Tons of sesame flavor as well. We also had Thai-inspired shrimp & grits...the sauce was sooo good. Like Thai comfort food...loved it! The garlic & thyme hangar steak was so tender and just so yummy. I could eat that all day long. The chimichurri sauce was not a typical chimichurri---more liquidy and less herby, but it was still a yummy sauce. The tavern burger was a smashburger which was really nice because you got some cheese along the edges that was made crispy on the grill. There were two patties...it was very big! We would go back in a heartbeat...but now we know to order a little less next time...we don't usually like to bring leftovers home when on vacay because of storage issues. Thankfully we are in a rental that has a huge fridge, so some of us are going to have some REALLY GOOD leftovers tomorrow!! read more

This is a super gem of a restaurant. A well kept secret -not trad southern style ...while everybody is rating it highly I would say if you are looking for a memorable dinner on Jekyll this is the place to come.I would say if you're used to cosmopolitan food with flavorful profiles, this is the place . It is not your average "fry and beer" kind of place while they have some of the traditional southern food profiles on the menu -The food is definitely very very very flavorful. Our waitress was very helpful and kind and the manager was welcoming. It's a great ambience and while we we set and ate dinner early, it was really pleasant to be in a place that was pristine... white tablecloth service Persian rugs on the polished concrete floor and Very nice. I would definitely be here again next time . This was our 29th anniversary and we are pleased to kick off the next 29 years here. Cool jazz, sirloin steak with chimichurri to share, salad and garlic bread to start with chocolate chip bread pudding and vanilla ice cream for dessert. A great experience and change of pace from the typical beach seafood restaurants. There are many excellent restaurants on Jekyll, particularly if you like local shrimp, but we were looking for a change of pace so decided to try Jekyll & Tide. One small warning, quite hard to find as there is no signage on the street, it is tucked into the reception center of Island Villas. The food was fantastic. I started with the bacon slab and it wasn't what I expected but was incredible. Rather than a big piece of candied bacon, it was more pork belly with a tremendous flavor. The accompanying cucumber salad and kimchi was also perfect and a larger portion than I expected (bacon was normal size portion and you can never have enough bacon). I then had the cowboy ribeye, which was an excellent steak, already cut up (I know some don't like that but I found it convenient) in slices. It was cooked exactly as ordered (medium rare), had a beautiful and meaty bone, and so much flavor did not really need the steak sauce. The only disappointment was the creamed spinach, which came after the rest of the meal and was only room temperature, which doesn't really work with creamed spinach. Fortunately the green beans made up for it, they were excellent and plentiful. While I took a break from seafood, my wife had the flounder and said it was possibly the best flounder she ever had. The atmosphere was also "smarter" than most of the other restaurants on the island but you could still be comfortable in jeans (or a jacket). Would love to go again. read more

This place is on another level compared to every other restaurant on the island. There aren't a lot of great places to eat on jekyll island but this little gem has some of the best food me and my family have ever had on vacation. We came in at 855 not knowing they stopped taking tables at 9, and regardless of the time Javier happily took all 6 of us in and served us one of the best meals we've ever had. Every steak we got was picture perfect medium rare and they had some of the best chimichurri i've ever had. if you're on jekyll island this is a destination food place and the staff was incredibly kind especially our server matt. read more

Let me say for anyone who loved the previous owners and waited in line 1 hour every visit, there was no waiting. First they need one menu! The restaurant and bar are attached via a double archway. The bar and tables accommodate about the same customers, the bar does feed to the patio, but that only handles a dozen people. The mini menu for the bar area not much but neither was the main menu. Were you could have gotten a bottle of wine under the last owner, the wine selection now$$$-$$$$ The food I hear is from a local farm to table, I'm not totally sure but no complaints! Staffing remarkably friendly, actually charming compared to the rush environment of the island. Management, disappointing, crew need better training, lighting too dim to view receipts, the building Maintenance inside please paint, a cheap grandfather clock from 1960 the only ambiance, Combined with the sever small tables with white linens, dark floors lacked the price tag of a $130 steak. The lounge area inside the restaurant while upscale contemporary was to close to the dining tables and should have been the foyer statement, with reception Last improve the locked door that exits the bar to the restroom, no one want to walk back through all of that to get to the hotel toilet. read more

New restaurant, clearly trying hard to be a player in the "fine dining" category in the Jekyll Island area. No signage along the road or on the building itself, which is part of the Villas by the Sea Resort & Conference Center. I believe this is the space previously occupied by the Driftwood Bistro. "White tablecloth" ambience, tables well spaced. Server was personable, knowledgeable, and helpful navigating my dining companion's food intolerances. Menu was reasonably varied and interesting, not trying to be too trendy or avant garde. Featured cocktails and cocktails were similar - nice variations off the classics without anything extreme. My dining companion and I both had the snapper, prepared differently. Large portions, well seasoned, unfortunately, both were a bit overcooked - not enough to be dry, but enough to be a bit tough. Mixed vegetables also overcooked to my taste, though maybe what their usual clientele expects. Worth trying again, one of the best dining options on Jekyll Island proper. read more

Jordan was an excellent server, having good recs for wine to go with the my dinner and for our appetizer. We had the crab and avocado salad to start and it was delicious! My fresh catch (red fish) was equally as yummy with smashed potato and golden beets. My husband enjoyed the Thai shrimp and grits - both were cooked perfect. However, he said the sauce could use a bit more depth and heat. The dining room was clean and well lit (maybe a smidge bright). I would call this the nicest restaurant on the island. Def more upscale food, farm to table style. This is what I think of when going to a nice dinner. We had fantastic service- not just our waitress but the manager and other servers/bussers all helped out. Food was delicious- had the snapper, hanger steak, filet, clam linguini. Had to give this new place a try heard the food was great. Went for lunch with 3 friends, two had the burger, two had the seafood chowder. Both Chowder bowls were barely half full, more like a cup of soup instead of a bowl, my chowder was full of flavor and a variety of seafood, the other chowder barely had anything in it, just the creamy bisque for the most part. The hamburgers were okay but not really worth the price they charged. I most likely will not be back. read more

I don't know what to say based on all of the people that recommended this spot to us. We were left extremely disappointed. So much so that we almost left after finishing our appetizers. But we stuck around for the main course which was probably a mistake. Food and service were both severely lacking. I won't go into details but we won't be back. So after spending 3 nights in Charleston, SC, enjoying some great food and drinks from places like Stars, The Darling, Magnolia, and Lewis BBQ, celebrating our anniversary and a birthday, my wife and I decided to stop off in Jekyll Island on our way home to north central Florida. Of course I needed to find the best place for her birthday dinner. I settled on a lovely place called the Jekyll & Tide, formerly the Driftwood. Jekyll & Tide topped off our long weekend of dining in some really great venues. We had reservations for 5:45 on the Tavern side of the restaurant. It's a little more casual, but do not let that stop you from dining in the main dining room. It's Florida, everything is casual. We were seated at a nice corner table, and immediately greeted by our server Mark. He welcomed us and thanked us for coming. He asked us what we would like to drink and we asked for water as I looked over the wine list. He returned with the water and some bread. I ordered the Honig Sauvignon Blanc. $60.00. Mark returned shortly with the wine and introduced the specials of the evening. Mark seemed very knowledgeable of the menu. We asked for his recommendations. Mark immediately recommended the Chateaubriand, $89.00/ shareable. 18 oz of center cut fillet mignon, served with two sides. This dish is what topped our 4 days of dining. We started with the bowl of Seafood Chowder. Clams, crab, shrimp, fresh catch, bacon, and cream. Beautiful presentation, and more beautiful flavor. We followed that with the small plate of Barcelona Garlic Shrimp. Butter, herbs, Calabrian Chili Oil, served with sourdough. The presentation and flavor of this were perfect. When our entree, the Chateaubriand arrived, we both said OMG... we chose the crispy crushed potatoes and the Piri Piri vegetables. A mix of sautéed cauliflower, peppers and onion sautéed in the Piri Piri sauce. The owner Javier said he would give us the three sauces for the beef. Jekyll & Tide steak sauce, which was more of a chili sauce, Chimichurri sauce, and a garlic butter. This was the most amazing cut of meat we have ever shared. The beef melted in your mouth. The potatoes and veg were a great accompaniment. We finished with a slice of Key lime pie to take back to the room. It did not disappoint. After speaking with the owners, Javier and his wife and chef Maddison, we see and pray for their dream to have the best restaurant on the island. Let me yell you, they are well on their way. Only thing I would like to see, one or two more local seafood selections and a few more wine selections by the bottle. read more

Had dinner at Jekyll & Tide this evening. The dinner was fairly good. Here are the main points as to why I gave it a 3 star rating. Asked for sweet tea to drink. They did not have sweet tea and brought me unsweetened tea and sugar packs. Not the same. Was asked if we want rolls and bread. first impression was not very great. Center of the roll was cold, gave me the impression they was either frozen or refrigerated. When the server replaced my tea with coke because I couldn't get the sugar to dissolve and sweeten the tea. He informed me the rolls would be on the house. I didn't order the rolls so was not sure why I was going to be having to pay for them when they was offered. Fish and Chips. My dinner. I had had Fish and chips all week trying to decide which restaurant on Jekyll has the best. The crusted breading at Jekyll &Tide has been the best! The choice of fish they used, not so much. The meal was great, the fish filet that was used was not a good pair for my preference. Potato wedges was the chips, very good! Frisbee Bacon Salad. Wife's dinner. The salad was very good and luckily my wife was not that hungry so it was perfect. I found it to be a bit small for salad meal. While on a birthday/anniversary trip, we ate at all of the main restaurants on Jekyll Island. Jekyll & Tide was by far the best. First, we ordered cocktails, both of which were outstanding. Next we shared the hot focaccia bread and sweet onion fondue for the appetizers...both were delicious. For the main course we had the Chateau Brionne, which was also delicious. Matt was our waiter and he provided exceptional service from beginning to end. Javier, the General Manager stopped by our table to ensure that the food and service were up to par, and we had a lengthy and pleasant conversation. All in all, it was one of the best dining experiences that we have had anywhere, not just on Jekyll Island. read more

Came here for lunch and was totally blown away. I got the tomato soup and fritto miso and both were stellar. The tomato soup was perfect for a winter day - balanced with a touch of acidity and lovely fresh chives. Jekyll and Tide used to be known as Driftwood Bistro. Driftwood Bistro was good. Jekyll and Tide is very good. My wife ordered the chicken, it was outstanding, fell off the bone. I had the pot roast, it was very favorable. There was small hiccup with order, due to still ironing out the new staff. The manager, Javier, made it right. Another gentleman (I am guessing Asst Mgr) was also very personable also saw to it folks received great service. The server was excellent. Great location. Watch your speed as approaching, as the road to this place is just plain crappy. Fortunately, the posted speed is 15MPH, I would recommend 10MPH to save your suspension. This being said - if you are in a hurry Jekyll is not the place for you. Bottom line - don't miss this laid back place. PS - not sure if J & T serves sweet tea at this point. If they don't just ask for simple syrup (liquid real sugar). We keep simple syrup in the car for these incidents and for Buckees (they have substituted cheap corn syrup) read more

Main courses were good but limited selection and pricey. Service was very good and decor was welcoming.

First, the best part - the service. The waitstaff was great and very helpful. But the food was not good, especially not good enough for the price. Both my husband and I had beef and it seemed as if the chef was determined to make the dinner tasteful by covering the meat with sauces, which didn't work. The meat had no taste at all. We stay at the Villas at least twice a year but I don't think we will be returning to the restaurant. read more
