This place is one of our favorites. I get the steak burrito almost every time. It's hard not to finish the whole thing but the portion size is pretty large. The steak is good quality- tasty. The tortillas are made fresh. I think they make their own chips too. Queso is pretty good for a fast food place. My husband has had almost everything on the menu and he likes everything pretty much, doesn't care for the brisket. Guac is so smooth. The drink selections are great too - lemonade is good and the drink Baja (they have different versions of sodas- it's fun). The staff is friendly and welcoming. They have a good inside, good amount of seating and they have outdoor seating too that's covered. They have a good amount of parking but it can get pretty busy as they share it with a shopping strip.

These are the best burritos I've had in the city! Everything tastes fresh and is packed with flavor, and you can customize your burrito just the way you like it. Highly recommend!

Pretty good burritos. It's basically like Chipotle with many more options. The burritos are also pretty massive, as you can really load them up. I do think everything is slightly underseasoned, but the ample options make up for it.

#6 Brisket & Queso Burrito with chips and salsa.

I didn't just try Cabo Bob's... I accidentally started a short-term relationship with it. My pal brought a burrito home last Tuesday, and somehow I've been back three times in four days. That should tell you everything you need to know. First off, the tortilla game here is next level. You're not stuck with basic flour--you're choosing your vibe: Cilantro Tomatillo (Green) Ancho Chili (Red) Smoky Cheddar (Orange) Buttermilk Flour (White) That alone sets them apart. My kid and I both locked in on the #6 Brisket & Queso Burrito ($10.99). It cones with an Ancho Chili tortilla, loaded with brisket, brown rice, pinto beans, sautéed onions & peppers, queso, lettuce, cilantro, and that 66 Red sauce. Let me say this clearly: This burrito is massive--and they don't skimp. Every bite hit. The brisket was flavorful, the queso tied everything together, and the tortilla had its own personality, instead of just being a wrapper. I told myself I'd save half for later... yeah, that didn't happen. My taste buds vetoed that plan real quick! We also grabbed chips and salsa and a couple fountain drinks. The chips? Fresh-cut and fried--no bag nonsense. Shoutout to the Dr. Baja, which tastes like a cherry Dr Pepper with a little extra attitude. And the red salsa? Fresh and actually worth going back for by itself. Matter of fact, I came back today just for chips and salsa. At this point... I might be back tomorrow. Bottom line: Cabo Bob's isn't just a quick bite spot--it's one of those places that sneaks into your weekly rotation before you even realize it.

I got through college eating Cabo Bob's in Austin and have been to this location in Houston a handful of times. I recently went for a quick casual weekday lunch while I was in the area and Cabo Bob's definitely fit the bill. I came at close to 2pm on a weekday and I have to say this was the emptiest I've ever seen a Cabo Bob's. I'm used to waiting in a line that goes to the door but that definitely wasn't the case this time, so I was happy to walk right up to the tortilla station. My go-to has always been the crispy fish burrito with an ancho chile tortilla. And stuffed to the max ;). Unlike other burrito chains, I really like that Cabo Bob's has sautéed squash & zucchini as well as sautéed onions & peppers. Not to mention the CRISPY fish, which is truly crispy. These for me help CB'd stand apart from those other burrito chains. On my most recent visit, the lady behind the counter was super sweet and asked how my day was going as she was stuffing my burrito. She also brought out a fresh batch of crispy fish for my burrito, and made sure I was aware. I don't think I've had this level of service on any of my visits. While the burrito tasted great and filled me up as always, I will say I was a bit bummed this past visit because the burrito fillings were distributed unevenly. My first several bites on the end were all rice and beans, and it was t until I reached the middle that I actually found some protein. This was a bit disappointing and I ended up breaking my burrito apart so that I could eat it bowl-style just so that I could eat the insides in equal amounts. I will give them credit though for stuffing my burrito to the max...to the point the ancho chile tortilla was starting to break at the seams. I know that this visit was probably a one-off so I'll be giving Cabo Bob's another try in the not-too-distant future and look forward to having my crispy fish burrito again. Perhaps with a side of their heavenly chips.

A few friends recommended Cabo Bob's for a while and just have not been. Wasn't sure what the fuss was about until I finally went. There was a queue at 3 pm in the afternoon near the door. That's a good sign and was pretty busy. They serve tacos and burritos among other things. All are freshly made. I ordered the deluxe fish tacos with cilantro Amarillo, ancho chili & buttermilk tortillas, Crispy Fish, Chipotle Crema, Mango Pico, Guacamole, Cheese, Shredded Cabbage and Lime. Pretty much every topping you can think of. The tacos are made right in front of you. Fresh tacos are the best! Once you received and paid for your order, you can get seated. They have additional sauces if you'd like. Restaurant is nicely decorated. Never been to Cabo yet but that's what it's supposed to feel like. Now I know why it's so popular. Will be back to try the other things on the menu.

I'm pretty sure this might be my new favorite burrito place! I love all the different options of meat, choices, and ingredients. The sauces they provide are to die for, especially the chipotle mayo. I also absolutely loved their fish burrito! The service is very quick and efficient and the price point is excellent. They give you so much food for the price that you pay. I think I paid about $10 for my burrito and drink, which is a steal.

Food: my first time eating the tacos and they were delicious! Super good flavor and they tasted so fresh! The cilantro lime (I think?) tortilla were so good, I just remember they were green haha Service: super efficient and friendly Ambiance: lively

Cabo Bob's is the kind of spot that ruins other burrito joints for you. Like, once you've tasted greatness, it's hard to go back to mediocrity, you know? The moment you walk in, the vibes hit you - fresh ingredients, a fun laid-back atmosphere, and the smell of tortillas being pressed right there in front of you like some sort of carb-filled magic show. Those tortillas? life changing. Soft, warm, slightly chewy...honestly, I'd eat one plain and still leave happy. The protein options are insane. Everything tastes clean, flavorful, and like someone in the kitchen actually cares about seasoning. And the toppings? A customizable masterpiece. Pile it on, baby. They somehow make every combo taste like it was meant to be. The staff is always fast, friendly, and ready to roll your burrito like its a competitive sport. The line moves quick, the portion sizes are generous (like "I definitely didn't need that much but thank you" generous), and the prices make you feel like you're getting away with something. Whether you're grabbing a bowl, burrito, tacos, or their ridiculously good chips and queso - you're winning. Everything slaps.

This place has easily become part of the rotation! Absolutely incredible food, friendly staff, and good vibes. This place is always bustling-- singles, couples, families, friends all under one roof making it a fun place to hang out. Tortillas are made fresh in front of you. Ingredients are well cooked and flavorful! And they don't skimp on the portions one bit. My burrito was easily 3 lbs, and same for those before and after me. Flavors of freshness of the toppings mixed with char from well grilled veggies and chicken, lathered in spicy and crisp salsas makes for the perfect bite that keeps you wanting more! Better than other burrito/bowl chains by a mile! Also, seems like the fish was very very popular, especially in taco form. Might be worth a try! Will keep yall updated as I try other options available! Rating : 4.5/5, easily

Large group of kids that continued to act disorderly and yell inside the restaurant.

This review is SOLELY on the dining experience alone. The food was really great and we enjoyed it along with the portions. Yesterday, my group was dining in the restaurant around 8 pm when a large group of kids from a nearby school showed up with no signs of any parent or guardians in site. There were maybe about 50-75 of them, acting disorderly in the restaurant while they were waiting in line. There were numerous kids who skipped the line, and the group started making chants and booing as if they were at a football game. It was so loud inside that you couldn't even hear yourself talking. On top of that, there were several kids who decided to stand on booths and jump over to skip the line. It was absolute chaos inside the restaurant and everyone dining in seemed annoyed. The staff had no control of the situation and honestly with how disorderly this group was acting, they should have been refused service. They need to institute a rule where anyone under 18 needs to have a guardian. The food was amazing, but the dining experience was a nightmare and we could not enjoy our food with how this large group of kids were acting.

Whew baby where do I start..... so first things first visit Cabo Bobs... you walk in and there's usually. Line out the door so actually don't go during the lunch rush but still go. You go in and there are four tortilla flavors and they make the tortilla in front of you. LITERALLY I got the cilantro tomatillo tortilla and loaded up a brisket burrito. And ooouu the brisket is tender and juicy ... the chicken is good too it's not overcooked or dry like some of its competitors... for $10 I walked out with a burrito that weighed the same as a newborn baby... talk about getting your moneys worth. I did not dine in. However, they have indoor and outdoor seating. Customer service is great too. Parking might be an issue cause the large amount of customers do take the limited spots fast.

First timer and stoped on a whim on my way back to the office. Walked in to a packed line so I decided to go online to better view my options of the menu. Saw that they had curbside so I ordered there. Burrito steak with the green cilantro tomatillo tortilla, white rice, Baja beans, steak obviously, sautéed onions, sautéed poblano, zucchini and squash, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, cilantro, mango pico, and chipotle creama. Dude!!! OMG. Do you know that taste that you get from a weekend "carne asada" at your tio's house growing up? Well, this has that same effect. I had my own Anton Ego moment with taking it back memory lane to my childhood. The burrito was heavy, full of flavor and very filling. It came whole(Next time. I'll make sure to have them cut it in a half) I also ordered the churro Blondie for dessert. My sweet tooth wouldn't allow me to drive off without taking a bite. Not all that impressed with it. The texture was a bit off for me, not your typical chewy, moist texture that you would expect from a blondie. This was very dense towards the outer edges but it did get better towards the middle. The outer edges had a refrigeration taste to it, but the middle did hit the spot. I'm assuming these are not made in house and are probably outsourced. Regardless, I was happy with my lunch, I would just skip the desert next time lol. BTW, after I placed my order, I got out of line and went into my car to park in their designated area for pick up. My order was out in less than 10 minutes! Friendly staff too, so that's always a plus! Think of it like a Chipotle but for people that like flavor HA!

Ask the Community - Cabo Bob's Burritos

Does the crispy fish contain dairy? Would the fish burrito without crema be dairy free?

The crispy fish has egg in the breading (no milk or cream, though). If you got the Fish Burrito without the Chipotle Crema, because it has cream, it would be dairy-free (so long as you don’t count eggs as dairy. Not sure why they do!)

    Are there gluten-free options?

Essentially, our entire menu offering is gluten-free, with the exception of our flour tortillas and our crispy fish. So, all of our meats, sides, sauces, and salsa are gluten-free. We serve a gluten-free soft corn tortilla for our tacos. We also…

Do any of the Tortillas, rice or beans use lard?

No. We do not use lard in the preparation of the tortillas, rice, or beans. We don’t use lard in any of our recipes.

She was attentive to our needs but all business. We started with guacamole and queso. Guac was a huge portion with all the add ins. Queso was delish and served with fried flour tortillas (my fav). The gratis green dip, red sauce, and thick, crisp chips were on par. The fajitas. Just so so. Honestly, it reminded me of Taco Cabana. Very disappointing. Very little flavor and tough. The rice was yucky, the refried beans were the worst! Reminded us of the frito lay bean dip in a can. Even the Borracho beans were bad. HEB's in the can are far better. We received 2 corn and 2 flour tortillas. Fajitas served with pico, guac, sour-sour cream (I didn't even like that). Iced tea was fair. All in all, Fajitas very disappointing. If we had not been on the best fajita quest, I most likely would have ordered the chicken caldo soup. That never disappoints.

The chips were on the thicker side, but were crispy and not stale or chewy at all. Each of the salsas were quite different, and two were served warm, which we really liked! For the price, I'd consider getting the chips and salsa as a non-negotiable, honestly. For entrees, we tried the enchilada rojas, chilaquiles verde w/ chicken and beef, birria barbacoa ramen, and huaraches. My husband felt like his ramen could have included more meat, but aside from that everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. The highlight was probably the desserts, though! Left a bad taste in my mouth and very disappointed. The service and food from the last time compared to this visit was night and day. Total miss. $200.00 thrown away. I paid because I could not let my friends waiste there money on someplace I raved about. Maderas is really a small cute spot. It's rare I have bad service when I go out to eat because I am not a difficult customer and I know I am not the only one they are serving. I will wait for good food and sit back and enjoy the atmosphere and my friends until it arrives. I would not put pressure on the staff or the kitchen. Also I will not arrive just before closing and make a resteraunt and it's staff stay open late because I am hungry. I rather come when the staff and the restaurant wants to recieve customers.

Visited for Houston restaurant week…read more It was our first time trying this place out. After being seated, it took 20 minutes for the server to come to our table and take our drink order. It took another 20 minutes to get the restaurant week menu we had asked for. The food and drinks were good and the ambience was nice, however, the service really tainted the whole experience.

The world is full of Mexican restaurants…read more Most are some version of Tex-Mex in a family-friendly, relatively similar environment. Nothing wrong with that. Mexican Sugar breaks that mold completely. This is the most legit, wonderful, bougie, over-the-top Mexican restaurant I have ever been to, and I mean that as the highest compliment possible. This was my second trip to Mexican Sugar. The first was in Grapevine. After this visit to the Montrose location, I have officially decided that when I am in Texas, I will seek these places out. They are that good. First, dress up. I doubt there is an actual dress code, but this is not the place where I am showing up looking like I just finished mowing the yard. Come here to be seen. Come here to show out a little. The place is beautiful and has that kind of vibe. Second, the drinks. Hell yes. Fancy, creative, excellent, and impressive enough for even the person who has seen every ridiculous cocktail presentation imaginable. And then there is the food. My God, the food. The salsa and queso are legit AF. The street corn is heaven in a bowl. Get several orders. I am serious. One is not enough. The carne asada was amazing. Honestly, I could keep going, but at some point this review is just going to become me yelling about how much I love Mexican Sugar. I LOVE MEXICAN SUGAR. OK, YOU GET THE IDEA. WHY AM I YELLING? BACK TO THE REVIEW.... Service was excellent too. The place is huge and was absolutely packed, but our server stayed attentive and the food came out surprisingly quickly. Make a reservation. Park in the nearby garage. Dress nice. Order the drinks. Get the street corn. Then get more street corn. Who is ready for another trip to Houston? I'll book the reservation at Mexican Sugar.

Maximo looks like someone invited the desert inside and poured it a drink. The room is colorful,…read morewarm, and genuinely inviting--pots of cactus, cowboy paintings, and Mexican art. At brunch, the papas bravas come as small cubes of fried potato with an airy crunch that gives way to a soft, pillowy center - the kind of deeply satisfying bite that makes conversation briefly irrelevant. Crisp prosciutto adds salt, aioli brings richness, and smoky chile sauce keeps it lively. They're served with cactus-handled toothpicks, which are almost offensively adorable. The chilaquiles divorciados are another hit. The chips are dressed with salsa rather than drowned beneath it, so each one arrives ready for the perfect bite. It's a small distinction, but an important one. Then there are the enfrijoladas: rolled quesadillas in fluffy tortillas, covered in creamy black bean sauce and plated with more care than bean and cheese might seem to warrant. The dish is fundamentally simple, but that's the point. Soft tortilla, savory beans, melted cheese, bright salsa. Familiar ingredients transformed into something deeply comforting--the culinary equivalent of curling up beneath a warm blanket on a cold morning, even if Houston rarely provides one. Dinner shifts into another gear. The crudos are sensational, especially the tuna tiradito - a rolling wave of flavor and texture. The tacos are excellent across the board, but the crispy maitake mushrooms are unmatched. The short ribs arrive juicy and tender on a mole negro that doesn't sit politely in the background. It lands dark, complex, and full of flavor. And then there's the masa cornbread, a masterpiece of unapologetic indulgence. Humble cornbread meets savory-sweet mole, smoky, earthy butter, and caviar. It sounds like too much. It isn't. Every element earns its place. The cocktails deserve their own warning. They're the kind that convince you to keep ordering the same drink all night. By the end, you may have forgotten what was in it. What you'll remember is that it was refreshing, perfectly balanced, and exactly what you needed. Maximo makes ambitious food feel generous rather than fussy. Come hungry.

Honestly I am fairly disappointed in this place as I had been anticipating it for the longest time…read more I was able to snag reservations about 1 month in advance for a Saturday dinner. The restaurant is located in a quiet area in West University with a good amount of street parking. The restaurant itself is decorated with a lot of character and personality and they have seating inside and outside on their covered patio. Don't get me wrong, the service here is amazing. The servers are very attentive, and I appreciate the chefs coming out to explain their dish. However, the dishes themselves were basic and lacked specialty. My boyfriend and I got the Chef's Tasting Menu. I got the drink pairing. As a Chef's tasting menu, I would expect the restaurants' most precious meals. The short rib was dry and the rest of the other dishes were unmemorable. The only dish that truly caught my eye was their Tres Leches, but this was given on the house as it was our anniversary. The drink pairing I got was well worth and all of the drinks were flavorful and paired well. Overall, I'd hope that their chef's tasting menu would improve as they rotate their dishes. I would try to come back to give it another chance.

They honestly have more customers than they have space, which is a great problem for them to have . Parking was also hard to find, and I waited about 30 minutes just to be seated. But once I got my food and tasted it... I was IN LOVE! The food made all of the inconveniences completely worth it. Customer service was cool, the atmosphere was nice, but the FOOD was definitely the star of the show. I would absolutely go back... just be prepared to wait and hunt for parking. Worth it!

Dona Leti's was everything we thought it would be!…read more Upon arriving there was a 30 min wait but thats ok because we were given chips and salsa to hold us over. Once we were seated the waiter we had was super helpful. If we had questions, he had answers and pictures to go with them. The food was phenomenal and huge. We ordered the skillet burrito, surf and turf eggrols, and birria sampler. So much food and so flavorful. Honestly you have to try the alfredo on the eggrolls. That was different but so good. The asada was flavorful on the burrito and eggrolls. The birria was great and then consume hit the spot dipping wise. The burrito was jam.packed with meat and rice. Very good! Its exactly what I want in my burrito. We ordered margaritas for drinks and those were pretty good. The strawberry margarita has to be mixed once brought to the table, but thats ok. Needless to say we had to take leftovers home for sure. Great food and a great time!
