No sales pitch. Just a warm, helpful demeanor and lots of creativity and ideas to consider. Katie Kieler, our designer, was flexible and provided great ideas based on our likes and dislikes. When others were all pitching a kitchen island, she understood we were happy with a peninsula design, and paid attention to the limited space and work areas based on our small kitchen. She made suggestions and redrew the plans to address our own ideas and questions. There was a great back & forth dialogue on what we envisioned. She encouraged us to take our time and explore all the different choices available. Katie eliminated a lot of the decision fatigue that happens with having to make so many choices. Katie never pushed, just made helpful suggestions. She stressed there was no rush. We chose Cabinet Discounters over other companies/designers because Katie listened. She looked at our existing kitchen and understood what we wanted and needed. She focused on work spaces and areas we would dedicate to specific tasks, like a coffee bar. We love our kitchen! I have contacted you via email as you previously requested. You did not respond nor contact me. I will try one more time. We paid more than 60k for the remodel of our small kitchen. As you can see from the photos, our kitchen is falling apart. Cabinet Discounters used the wrong grout, so it continues to crumble. The tile floor is cracked, and we have had to have the grout repaired at additional expense from another contractor. Our kitchen needs to be gutted...again, due to the extremely poor quality of work provided by Cabinet Discounters. An overall very disappointing experience. The kitchen design was free, but flawed. Although accurate measurements were given, the microwave position was way off and we had to make a complex custom vent connection. The oven plug was covered by a cabinet and had to be moved, which was a major hassle. The cabinets when delivered had multiple problems and one was so badly damaged it had to be reordered. I will not use this vendor again. It also bothers me that they advertise regularly on some of the worst right-wing radio stations. My wife and I call this "hate radio" and we try not to support vendors that advertise there. read more

We were very pleased - Katie Kieler helped us with design, product selection, agreeing on price, and stayed in close communication with us and with the installing contractors through demo, installation, plumbing, electric, punch list and final pictures. She was very attentive to our customizations and requests and made her own very helpful suggestions in the design and product selection phase. She stayed on top of the installers and made sure everything was done right. We had a great result in a relatively tight space that demanded the most of design and selection to achieve functionality and storage and look we wanted. We just had our kitchen remodeled. We worked with Lois at the Springfield office and she was fantastic on helping us with the design. I dreaded the work, given the awful stories we heard about redoing your kitchen but Cabinet Discounters was fantastic. They scheduled all the required work, everyone showed up on time, the quality of their work was exceptional and the qualify of their product is exceptional. I've had a few home improvement providers over the past year or so, and these guys are the ones that act like the real pros. Duane took our order without any problem, the cabinets were delivered on time and by a careful and courteous driver. After I installed the cabinets (some instructions on how to level them would have helped, but my floors were pretty good anyway), I got an email letting me know I could schedule the measurement guy to come out in about a week, which I did. He was also courteous, on time and very professional (and some cool tools!). One week later, as promised, the tops and sinks were delivered and installed, again very courteously and professionally. It's almost a shame I'm moving out of town, because if I were staying, I'd get new kitchen cabinets from them, too. read more

Where do I begin! Our experience with cabinet discounters was horrible and I will never ever recommend them to anyone. We were overcharged for cabinets that looked really cheap, some of the doors on the cabinets looked uneven and one of the cabinet sides came unfinished, even though we told them that we would like it to be finished. When we received the cabinets, we contacted the person who took our order (Duane), to discuss some of the issues with the cabinets. He told us to send him pictures. We sent him pictures of the uneven cabinet doors (that was intact upon delivery; our contractor did not attach the doors themselves, they only attached the cabinets to the wall), and the side of the cabinet that came unfinished. He told us that our contractor must have screwed the cabinet doors on too tight. Here is his exact words: "it is a real possibility that the installer has twisted the cabinet box by securing the cabinets tight to the wall without shimming the cabinet level, plum and true." We told him the contractor did not touch the doors, it already came with the doors intact. Regarding the unfinished side of the cabinet, he said my husband told him that there would be a wall covering that side. Granted, there was a wall on that side before we started renovation, but we told him that this wall will come down, so we need the cabinets on that side to come finished. Even if this wall was not removed, it would still not have entirely covered the side of that cabinet. To add to that, the other side of the same cabinet, which did not need to be finished, came finished! We were still told that it was our mistake and not his, because we signed the papers. It was a small detail in a huge contract with architectural drawings which we don't even understand! It was far too technical and we wouldn't have known what we were looking at, but we thought we made ourselves clear and signed it in good faith. After we sent him the pictures, he said we would need to pay for all the changes. Here is his exact words: "At this point you will need to purchase left side finish panels and have your own contractor install the panel on the ends of the cabinets that are currently unfinished on the left sides. Payment will need to be made in full before the order is processed and then we will ship them directly to your project. Is this what you want to do? If this is what you decide you want to do then I will need to get you a Sales contract with the cost of the panels for your review." After we replied to this email, of course, disagreeing with him, he was MIA for a week and a half and we were forced to contact the manger (Lori), which was a whole new nightmare!! First of all, before Lori even called us, she made up her mind that we were wrong and they were right and she was very very rude and unprofessional to us the entire time we were on the phone. She told us the same things we were told by Duane. She told us that they do not finish the side of the cabinet if that side will be covered by a wall. She said Duane took pictures of that side of the wall and it would have covered the cabinet entirely. We told her to send us the pictures. We also told her to send us the breakdown of the $11, 286.95 we spent on the cabinets and she said she cannot do that! After much debate, and after telling her that our lawyer will be in touch with her, she finally call back in 5min and agreed to send us skins by FedEx at no cost to us but I still have to spend money to have them install. Of course she agreed because she knows that we have the right to see the breakdown of what we are paying for! We are yet to receive this document but I just wanted to write this review because I am furious at the service we received from Cabinet Discounters. They do not know how to deal with customers, they are inefficient, and unprofessional. I do not know who their subcontractor is, but they have done a poor job with the custom cabinets. I did not get counter top from them because i got the counter top from somewhere else for$10k less unbelievable how much profit they try to make. I have left out a lot of details as the review was getting too long! We contacted 3 people in total at the Springfield branch, they all believe they were right and we were wrong and made us feel like we were being difficult customers! We now have to pay our contractors to fix the cabinet doors and paint the unfinished side of the cabinet! read more

Beware of what the appliances stand on! Cabinet Discounters renovated our kitchen in 2007 and we were very pleased until we discovered that the tile under the dishwasher was not properly done. When the dishwasher broke the repairman had a hard time removing it, once it was removed we discovered that under the dishwasher was not tiled or grouted properly and to make the dishwasher level several partial pieces of tile were placed under the front of the dishwasher without grout and then a big dip where no tile was placed or grouted. Of course the new dishwasher did not cover the same area and revealed the poor workmanship. I called Lois Elliot at the end of November and she told me she would contact install. I contacted her again on December 3rd and emailed her a picture of the area. It has been over a month and I have not heard back. Needless to say we have had the area tiled properly. I understand that it has been years but the work was not done properly to begin with and it is very disappointing that not only did Cabinet Discounters not take responsibility but they ignored us. read more

Duane Buhl was incredible. Though my project was quite small, he treated me like it was a far more lucrative job. He spent a lot of time helping me make decisions, never rushed me and explained all of my options. He never pushed me to spend more money than I had budgeted and the job turned out beautifully. They are lucky to have this guy. He has tons of experience both as a finish carpenter and as a designer. I could not have been happier. read more
