Chicken

This was a delicious Italian meal while staying in Vancouver! The service was consistent and they were able to accommodate my party which changed size several times. We ordered the chicken, brussel sprouts and lamb ragu pasta. The pasta and chicken were the highlights. The Brussels sprouts could have had a little more flavor and crispiness. The setting was cute - I didn't realize it was in a hotel until we got there.

C|prime did an amazing job in planning the menu for Dine Out Vancouver. I have to say hands down easily win over all the big name restaurants in Vancouver. The restaurant ambiance is upscale, high-end, romantic and ofc on point Italiano. We were seated at the prime spot of the restaurant, where we can see every chef putting all their dedication and precisely put your food together on your plate. I don't have to tell you how good the food is, the pix tell you all about it. I only wish these dishes are on their regular menu.

I ended up having breakfast 5 days in a row here and getting lunch to-go on my final day in Vancouver because this restaurant was located in the lobby of the hotel I was staying at, and my hotel stay came with complimentary breakfast, courtesy of C Prime. Every meal we had here was fantastic and the service impeccable. Yes, this restaurant is definitely on the pricier side, but the ambiance, service, food, and presentation justify the costs, especially for special occasions. The breakfast menu is not extensive but still has enough variety. Our favorites were the blueberry pancakes with lemon curd and cream, the smoked salmon bagels, the steak and eggs, and the Italian baked eggs with burrata and pesto. The avocado toast was surprisingly a weak link - I'd avoid that in the future. Overall, our long relaxed breakfasts at C Prime were a highlight of our Vancouver vacation and an experience I look forward to recreating whenever I visit Vancouver next.

Came on a Saturday for brunch. The restaurant was mostly empty. Their prices for brunch are very reasonable. I had the chicken and waffles. The waffles were definitely not my cup of tea. The were really strong on the cinnamon flavour and also the batter was overly wet and not fluffy at all. The chicken was crispy and not dry. Well seasoned but didn't go well with the waffles. The eggs were well poached. If you are looking for a quiet and cheaper brunch in downtown then this is the place. They have a reasonably big menu for brunch.

Great service, nice big room for 11 of us! So private. The starters Antipasti are great! Special the Beet & Ricotta salad and Buratta!

Good food good experience here. A lot of choices for the steak and it was superb cooked to perfection. The tuna tartare with bone marrow was great. The mac and cheese was truly amazing! I love it so much. The tiramisu was a great show and was really good too. I definitely recommend getting the tiramisu with the cream complements the bitterness of the coffee so it was made to perfection. Definitely recommend the place!

Pricy, but very good..their steak is delicious. Beautiful atmosphere. That's why you are paying a high price for their food. Great for a date

We came here for the Sunday brunch buffet and found the food to be very mediocre. The hot items were all lukewarm and not very flavorful. The pancakes and waffles were mushy and terrible. We think these may be the worst pancakes we've ever eaten. The roast beef was not great. The only thing that tasted good was the dessert. The cheesecake and the macaroons were moist and fresh. I'd rather spend more for other hotel buffets at H2 or Oceans 999 so I will not be back for the buffet. The buffet runs from 11am to 2pm for $28.

Came here for our anniversary and was quite impressed. Firstly, our server was amazing, Julia I think was her name. She did a great job, her timing was always perfect and gave great recommendations! Now the food. To eat, we ordered the lobster rolls, oysters, Waygu strip, a tenderloin steak and the truffle pasta. Absolutely zero complaints, everything was very good, but my Waygu steak was the winner for sure, super flavourful and almost melts in your mouth. The truffle pasta was a close second, so much rich truffle flavour which I loved. Overall a great experience, food was excellent, service was perfect. I'd give C Prime a well deserved 9/10.

a bowl of soup on a plate with a spoon

Our server was also the bartender and commented on how much we ordered which was really just a three course meal. We just ordered a side with our steak which was normal? The sides were delicious but the steak was ok. Nothing noteworthy. The ambiance was cozy and nice. But yeah this wasn't the best anniversary dinner. Thanks to our server who made our dining experience less special.

We ordered the yellowfin tuna tartare, cured hamachi, aged ribeye, Australian Wagyu, truffle mac & cheese, potato purée, and onion rings, everything was fantastic. It's no surprise this place is always booked. The service was excellent, and the overall ambiance made the experience even better. I was visiting on vacation and found this spot on Yelp. I saw a few reviews mentioning that it's expensive, but it's a steakhouse, if those prices aren't in your budget, don't go to a steakhouse. For the quality of the steak, the atmosphere, and the service, I found the prices to be fair. I would definitely recommend this place.

Service was great here and they even gave us complimentary glasses of champagne and a little dessert at the end since my boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary. Our waiter was also particularly helpful with choosing out a sweet dessert wine for me since I don't usually drink much wine They also have complimentary bread with olive oil and butter before your food comes out. This was nice but I definitely over-ate and was already a bit full by the time our food came out Seafood plateau: 4/5 the oysters were definitely the highlight of this dish for me. After that, I liked the tuna tartare and the yellowtail a lot Rack of lamb: 5/5 we were expecting more lamb bc of the name but it came with 3 pieces which we ordered medium rare. I was a little nervous about how red the meat was but it was super good and I liked it a lot

From the gold railings to coat check to a piano on the stairs to an old school oyster bar showcasing their wares proudly on display, Joe Fortes has a lot going on for it. But perhaps more so than anything else is an amazing happy hour for anyone who loves oysters. Service Before diving into the food let's talk about service. The servers here are dressed in the old full whites with black ties and give you full service. They have an expert knowledge of the menu and are willing to give you any and all opinions if asked. They check on you frequently and make sure you're having a good time with enough banter to make it friendly and welcomed. Happy Hour - Alcohol With that out of the way, we can talk about the happy hour. Yes, they have a great deal when it comes to their house red and white wines where you can get 6 oz for $6 CAD or 9 oz for $9 CAD. Their beers range from $5 CAD to $8 CAD and their cocktails are all under $10 CAD. Happy Hour - Food They have some incredible truffle fries, cut thick and sprinkled with parmesan as delicate as snow for $9 CAD. Their crab & corn fritters are slightly chewy but packed with flavor and come at $12 CAD. The coconut prawns sound just as delicious as they taste and come at $13 CAD. I would avoid the Steelhead ceviche though as it was more mashed avocado than ceviche. However, HOWEVER, the star of the show are their oysters. Coming at $1.75 an oyster, you get to be as gluttonous as you'd like whilst keeping your pockets happy. Vancouver is known for their amazing seafood and with this happy hour from 3 PM - 5 PM it gives you 2 hours to fill your belly with as many oysters as you can. Even if you ordered 50 oysters you would be under $90 CAD. I should know, I did that. Last Thoughts Even without the incredible happy hour Joe Fortes would be a restaurant you have to visit during your trip to Vancouver. With a great selection of food on their menu, wait staff that feel old world and professional, and a setting fit for the city, the happy hour is just the bonus that makes visiting Joe Fortes even more enticing. Come with an appetite, leave with a smile.

one of the best restaurants we tried in vancouver for sure…read more honestly, i would skip most of the main courses and just order off the happy hour menu because that was easily the highlight for us. the carpaccio was insanely good! super savory, rich, fresh, and packed with flavor. it had that perfect balance where the meat practically melts in your mouth, and every bite tasted bright, salty, and satisfying without feeling too heavy. definitely the standout dish of the night. i also really enjoyed the poutine. the melted cheese curds made it extra comforting and indulgent, and the whole dish felt way more elevated than standard poutine. the drinks were also amazing. both the mocktails and cocktails were genuinely well made and memorable instead of feeling like an afterthought. the only misses for me were the short rib and the steelhead trout, which both really needed salt. the risotto was also pretty mid and not very memorable compared to the other dishes.

I'm not sure if I would say it was "jumbo" but delicious nonetheless. Parmesan Truffles Fries - The fries were standard, as was the aioli it came with. Organic Beet + Arugula Salad - This was a happy hour portion. It was a good salad, but I wish it came on a bigger plate for easier eating. Service: Service was friendly and quick. The food came out of the kitchen pretty quickly. I was asked more than once if I wanted a drink since it was happy hour which was a little awkward but not too bad! TL;DR - Good happy hour deals with quick service

The tone is immediately set. The lights are dimmed, the walls seemed like they had an oak finish which I absolutely loved! There was also a bar near the entrance that added a touch of elegance. It was thoughtfully located, perfect if you want to start with a cocktail while you wait to be seated. Now let's get to the real reason why you're reading this review- the food. After reading reviews we decided to go with the infamous cheese bread that everyone praised. It was DELICIOUS! That was some really good cheese bread. Now, on to the main entree's: my boyfriend settled for the 22oz porterhouse steak medium rare (drooling), while I humbly ordered the steak & lobster; best of land and sea as described on their menu. Their Canadian Prime Filet Mignon served with a broiled Atlantic lobster tail and lemon butter!!! My boyfriends porterhouse was made to perfection he paired It with classic French fries. My steak was made well but lacked a little flavor. I like my steak medium rare however, my steak was a tad bit over cooked. My lobster was good but I've definitely had better. The butter was a nice touch as it should and honestly speaking It lacked salt, food with out a hint of salt is just bland. My entree came with mashed potatoes, they were fluffy and tasty. Two thumbFor dessert.

There are…read morea lot of new and trendy steak restaurants in Vancouver, but Hy's is one of the longstanding giants. They have been around for a very long time, and I think their prestige is quite hard to match. It's not a trendy restaurant but rather, more of a sophisticated traditional setting. I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday, and since it was his first time trying Hy's, we had to go down the route of ordering all the classics. Our server, Dan, was phenomenal. He was funny and candid throughout the meal and did a great job preparing the tableside Caesar salad and beef tartare. Both dishes contained similar ingredients but tasted unique on their own. The way the ingredients interact brings various sweet, salty, and tart flavour profiles that dance together splendidly in your mouth. Since all the ingredients are eyeballed, no two dishes taste the same, and there is beauty in that, as you get something authentically different every single time. Cheese bread was a must - an absolute classic. Soft, delicious, and cheesy every single time. For mains, we decided to share the porterhouse. Being a small eater when it comes to steaks, I figured 22oz was going to be enough paired with mash and a side of candied carrots. The steak was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. My boyfriend does not enjoy vegetables, but surprisingly liked the carrots. The service was extremely smooth, with food arriving quite quickly and regular check-ins from Dan. For dessert, we opted for the Belgian chocolate bourbon cake. It was rich, decadent and quite sweet. We took our time with the dessert as my boyfriend dusted off his second drink and designated me as the driver for the night. Overall, it was a seamless experience, but most importantly, it managed to satisfy my meat snob boyfriend on his birthday. Hy's did a great job taking care of us, and although I do not live in the tax bracket that allows me to come here regularly, it makes a wonderful treat every once in a while.
