COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! We have gone to scammy authorized Apple repair places (ahem, Downtown HI-Tech) and have had BAD experiences. So was a little hesitant to go here when the Apple store could not help. The five-star rating is WELL DESERVED! Noel was very helpful, honest and fair in his dealing with us. He is clearly very knowledgeable. Would take other Apple products back there. Avoid the scammers, go to BYOD. Also, regarding parking, I found meter parking, but being Ktown things can get a little crazy. Just be prepared to circle, walk or pay the lot (I think it was $7 was the first hour). read more

Overdo review!! Noel saved me a few months ago after my MacBook slipped off the couch and the screen went unresponsive. Apple told me it would cost a few hundred less than the cost of a new one so suggested I get a brand new Mac but I've only had it 5 years and knew there had to be a better option. I found a few people on Yelp and Noel offered the best price and seemed the most trustworthy so I went with him and am so happy I did. He was able to fix my computer the same day, hold it overnight for me and texted me right away to ensure me my computer was fixed (I was worried). I know where to go if I ever have any other issues! Thanks again! read more

Noel and BYOD saved my bacon and resurrected 4TB from a failed RAID drive (not easy)! Very trustworthy, professional service, and a discounted very fair price. Noel knows his stuff. Highest possible recommendation. read more

I had a 10 year old 1TB drive that was full of all sorts of irreplaceable stuff. Well the usb connector broke off on it and I was worried I wouldn't be able to recover anything. BYOD sorted me out without any issues whatsoever! Not only was the service exceptional, the price was very reasonable which is why I have to problem recommending them to everyone for your computer needs. read more

Excellent service! I had drive with some very important documents fail on me. My mac could recognize the drive, but it wasn't showing any files on it. I tried multiple software repair programs and Disk Utility repair, but nothing worked. I brought in the drive, and BYOD called me back shortly w/ an estimate. They were able to recover all 31GB on my data for a lot cheaper than other places charged (trust me, I looked). They even let me know that the drives I had been using were really low quality, and suggested I buy a different brand. I highly recommend them. read more

Dropped my girlfriends phone into a river and it stayed in there for 20 mins before I could finally get it out, we needed to get the pictures off of it but it wouldn't start up. The phone definitely had noticeable water damage. Other places were quoting ridiculously high prices but BYOD was able to do it for a much fairer price and in a shorter amount of time than other businesses, he went above and beyond to get all the pictures back. Thank you so much. read more

Noel runs a fantastic company! Reliable, communicative, and quick! Very professional and straight to the point. He did a data recovery for a hard drive and was very honest with my options and in the end was able to recover everything. I'll definitely be utilizing his services in the future. read more

Computer problems typically arise without much warning. This was no different. Saved my data, saved my life.

I highly recommend Noel and BYOD! I spent half a day getting quotes to fix the screen on my 2015 MacBook Pro. Most everyone I spoke to said, "just buy another one, it's not worth fixing." I found Noel on Yelp and discovered his office is walking distance from my house (always a bonus in LA!) I walked in and within minutes he had sourced the parts and gave me an extremely fair price on the labor. Within 2 days my device was like brand new. Noel is fair, honest, quick and willing to accommodate. In my experience this is a rare find, especially when it comes to computer repair. I will be recommending BYOD to all my friends and family. read more

Noel was awesome. He was able to recover all the data I needed plus some. He also advised me on how to load my playlists into my new MacBook Pro. All of this in a speedy turnaround time and a great rate. Highly recommended! read more

Brought my daughter's MacBook in for repair. Didn't think it was fixable but Noel and his guys did an awesome job. It's like new and didn't have to wait forever for it. I will bring all my devices if I need anything. Fair pricing, great service! read more

So glad I found BYOD! The first place I called was going to charge me $100 minimum even if they couldn't save anything and it might have cost almost a grand to recover my data. BYOD did a free estimate, gave me a breakdown of the cost and did the data recovery in about a day! So fast, so much more affordable, and so helpful. I would highly recommend! read more

BYOD Computer Services - Build Computer - Data Recovery Near Me - Los Angeles, California

I really appreciate the honest, communicative service Noel provided me. My old 2010 MacBook stopped charging, and it turns out that living in Ktown means power surges will sometimes fry your devices! Baagh. Noel was able to order the hardware needed to recover files from my old laptop, recover most of my files, and transfer them onto my new laptop. It was about $300 for the data recovery, though I was able to redeem 10% off using the Yelp discount. Location: The office is located on the 2nd floor of a super nondescript building at the SW corner of 6th and Catalina. Look for terra cotta-colored tiles on the outside and enter through glass doors. read more

Honest and reliable. My flash failed and was unreadable. Noel diagnosed and determined it needs more advanced work (surgery on the internal hardware). He recommended another company he believes could/might do it. No charge. I will go to BYOD next time I have a data recovery need. read more

SUPERB!!! It is my pleasure to strongly recommend this place to everyone I had a problem with my MacBook Pro last week and went to Noel, BYOD computer services in Los Angeles, CA at 611 S Catalina St Ste 203. He gave me a free diagnosis of my Mac and was very helpful with giving me information about the Mac problems. Very professional! He fixed it at a reasonable price. Problems SOLVED! Very knowledgeable! He had nice personality with excellent customer service. It was GREAT experience! Extremely SATISFIED ! read more

Clean. Precise. Professional. Recommended. The services provided exceeded expectations.

Did a fantastic job! Very knowledgeable. Will definitely keep him on my go to guy. Thank you

BYOD once again comes to the rescue of a hard drive in distress. I had lost nearly a TB of important data when my HDD had become completely unreadable. Noel took a look, and even though it required some extra special work, he was able to recover everything! Given the state of the hard drive damage, BYOD gave me a great deal as well! Noel continues to live up to his reputation as one of the best in SoCal. Friendly service, very thorough, real professionals. Thanks, BYOD! read more

Excellent service. Dropped and shattered my Iphone. Ugh! Thank goodness it was still working and did a quick yelp search and found BYOD. The owner responded almost immediately and told me where to go. Needless to say, my phone was repaired within an hour! (longest hour of current memory!) Affordable pricing too! 181 5 star reviews are true. Make mine the 182nd please! Thanks Yelp! read more

BYOD computer services is a very serious establishment. Reasonable price and quick service . I'll always bring my business to them if needed. Can you believe Downtown HI-Tech was gonna charge me between $250 and $300. It's ridiculous and plus an extra $75 for the diagnosis. Lol Anyways, BYOD computer services worked for me and I suggest if you guys want quick service and going that extra mile for the fellow customer they are the right people for you. Beside we all should support small businesses. Don't take Apple's suggestion. Noel from BYOD computer services even downloaded my software for free which was not his job. $125 not bad at all to replace you HD and run diagnostics . He replaced it with 1TB .... mine was 750. He put a bigger size . Now my computer is up and running . Thanks BYOD!!! You guys rock!! read more

The service here is AMAZING. I have my macbook pro since 2010 and it was really slow. Noel (the owner) helped me replacing the hard drive and battery in a reasonable prince and now it is running so fast. Noel is really nice and responsive. He called me every time he needed to make a change to my computer and made sure I was ok with it and also stated how much it would cost. My sister went to pick up the laptop and forgot to check in for 10% discount. He let her comeback and gave her the discount money in cash. I will definitely come back and highly recommend his service to anyone who need to fix their computer :) read more

I went into BYOD for the second time last week. The first time was when my laptop suffered a very damaging drop and my device was completely cracked. They were honest about probably not being able to recover data and tried it any way at no charge. Their policy on data recovery is not to charge unless it can be recovered, which is obviously a very honest business in this line of work. I've gone to several different repair shops before this and each of them had some sort of security deposit or labor fee. My second time was to fix a flickering MacBook Pro LCD screen. Though the replacement screen itself was quite expensive, the labor charge they took on was very reasonable. The guy ordered the replacement screen in front of me and told me exactly the day it would arrive. I was able to take my laptop back with me until he called several days later, on the day he specified, to have me drop it off. The process was so easy and I'm very satisfied with the services. My MacBook Pro looks brand new. There aren't many computer repair services that give you a truly honest diagnosis. My experience is that they usually try to get you to pay for a diagnostic service that you don't need. BYOD is different. They're efficient and honest. read more

My experience here with Noel was wonderful! He was extremely kind and was able to recover the data from my completely destroyed iPhone. He was also willing to stay after to closing to put the back up data on my new phone, as I only had access to public transportation and had trouble making it to him before he closed at 4. I will definitely be coming back to him for my technology repair needs! read more

I'm a freelance computer animator and I had the unfortunate experience of accidentally knocking a flower vase onto my laptop. I'm not sure what kind of crazy miracle grow was in the vase but it totally killed my computer. This was my worst nightmare because: A) my laptop was basically my main tool of trade and I was essentially cutting my arms off in terms of work life. B) I was smack in the middle of 2 simultaneous important projects, and all my project files were on my machine. Due to my own mindless stupidity I did not back up my work somewhere. I immediately scoured Yelp for some computer/hard drive help and I found BYOD. I contacted a handful of shops but Noel at BYOD was the very first to respond and he was also conveniently located nearby me in K-Town. I like to think of Noel as 'The First Noel' because he responded to me first and also because he was my personal (computer) savior. He was very professional and trustworthy and he miraculously managed to recover all the data from my damaged hard drive. He was very generous with his time and spare hard drives and also offered to help me diagnose the repair for my laptop free-of-charge. I can't thank him enough, thank you Noel! read more

Fair and honest. Noel tells you upfront his business model and provides you with all the info you need to make a decision. Great attitude. He knows how to put himself in his costumers shoes so he offers reasonable prices for his data recovery service. Quick and willing to accommodate. Even though he's a very busy guy he finds time to sit down and help his costumers with the best service he can provide them. read more

It was only a matter of time before my poor lifeline called iPhone got its face shattered! I was biking through LA and took my phone out of its holder to take an artistic picture of my Whole Foods flowers against a glimmery high-rise apartment building. Well, for those that would shame me for trying to take a useless picture, keep shaming me because I dropped my phone in the process and the entire screen shattered. My life line was injured. BYOD was quick to answer calls and open on the weekend. I got an awesome deal because I know..everyone else was charging an arm and a leg! With the check in bonus I was able to get a whole new screen in less than 20 minutes for 79.00 plus a few extra dollars tip! The shop is clean with a small waiting area and a legit desk. Nothing shady here! He fixes other things so I saw computery stuff neatly organized in the back. Hopefully I never have to fix my phone again.. but if I do, will be back! read more

BYOD makes the unpleasant process of getting your broken iPhone screen repaired painless. Fast, fairly priced, good work: a rare combination. My advice: get the tempered glass screen so you don't have to go back a second time like I did (my girlfriend, also a BYOD customer, got one and it's great). It's worth the small amount extra, believe me. Much thicker and sturdier if you've got butterfingers like me. Just my luck though, Noel's just run out of them when I arrive with my battered phone. Could have just told me, "tough luck,' but instead, he put a new screen on and told me to call back the following day to check in about a new shipment of tempered glass screens coming in. Seriously, I'm so grateful that I picked BYOD and didn't get hosed by some fly-by-night iPhone repair operation. read more

Wow! Noel and his team were amazing! I would highly recommend them to anyone with data recovery needs. The price was very reasonable and I was very appreciative of being able to afford their services which others charge like triple the amount. I had a family film that was on a hard drive, something that to me was irreplaceable. The drive suddenly died and I feared I'd lost my grandmother and grandfather's archived films from the 50's. I was devastated. Luckily Noel saved it and was very gracious about the entire process. Once he gave me back the data on my new drive, he waited until I confirmed that all was well before deleting the backup on his server. Professional, affordable, skilled, personable. Thats a winning combination! read more

I had lost all my data on my external hard drive. BYOD was able to recover all of it! He even lent me his personal drive for me to use during the fix. I highly recommend Boyd and will be back to use his services. read more

Noel is super helpful with retrieving data from my macbook pro. He worked extra hours to get out my most important folders in two hours (We are talking a lot of GBs). He is very efficient and patient. This store is in a nice building in Ktown, easy to find, plenty street parking space, close to USC. read more

My work computer began freezing at the worst possible time. Took it to BYOD, had it diagnosed and a parts and labor quote agreed to within a half hour. My failed hard drive was replaced within one business day. Price was very reasonable, especially considering the couple of added services BYOD threw in and the short turnaround time. Their office is on the third floor of the pink building on Catalina, South of 6th. Use the elevator. read more

If you have a computer problem, trust me and just use this guy. He is honest, polite, smart and has a nice shop in a nice building with a nice elevator - AND he's is less expensive than anyone else I've dealt with. What else is there? I had a hard drive fail on my Dell PC and brought it in to see what could be done. After checking things over he found that it was completely totalled and needed to be replaced. He didn't have a replacement drive, so he personally drove around town after he closed his office to find the correct one (the nearby Staples didn't have it). He kept me updated with a call and had it done in 24 hours. Very impressed. Going to bring him another pc I'm having issues with. It's good to find someone you can trust. read more

Noel knows his stuff. Did data recovery for me at a reasonable price and didn't try to upsell me.

A few months ago, I dropped my ASUS laptop causing it to no longer turn on. After calling around to a few places, Noel was the most helpful in hearing out what had happened and providing a checkup for the lowest cost. After realizing that the issue with my laptop would not be easy to fix and that it'd be more cost effective to buy an entirely new laptop, he didn't charge me for the service and was extremely patient in explaining and talking through what had happened as well as options for what I could do moving forward. Highly recommend for anyone looking for laptop repairs! read more

Repeat Customer Here. Anytime anything breaks, I bring it to him! His prices are very fair and he knows exactly what he's doing. I know computers well but he just takes it to another level, I even told some of my friends about BYOD, it also helps he's close to my job over on Wilshire. Definitely recommend, I will be coming back next time I break something (hopefully not too soon haha)! read more
