Solomon's HDD Recovery service was very professional, thorough, and a quick turnaround (less than a week). Data was recovered as promised. I had 20 or so years of mp3s, photos, movies, and videos that was lost when my single volume D:\ shared across two 512gb hdd was removed causing all of my data to disappear. Solomon was able to recover 99% of the data and back into its original folders. I'm giving a four star instead of five because the service was relatively pricey $699 compared to other quotes I received, however HDD Recovery was a lot closer to where I live. Also, because my hard drives were relatively full, some important financial files I had in the root directory were not recoverable. Regardless, I'd still recommend if price is not a concern and if you value years worth of data recovered for whatever reason, convenience or sentimentality. read more

I had an external hard-drive that was 15 years old. It had close to 250gb of music, photos, and documents on it from my high-school and college years including master tracks of an album I had recorded with a band I was in. Sometime in 2009, I accidentally used the wrong power cable to power it up, which fried the entire circuit board resulting in the drive dying. After randomly searching for hard-drive recovery services throughout the years, I came across Solomon via Yelp. I knew data recovery was not cheap, since I had gotten several quotes in the past. Two of my external HDs stopped working. I hit up Solomon, who responded right away. I brought him the drives and within an hour he diagnosed the problem. Unfortunately, there was physical damage to the drives, which means that it would cost a mortgage payment to try and get any data off of it. That's not an option for me. This is a small private business and Solomon operates out of his home. He was easy to get in touch with and I was able to drop off our camera memory stick within the hour. He asked some detailed questions and explained scenarios in which all or only some of the data could be retrieved. Pricing was also explained. By the end of the same day, he texted me a snapshot of the retrieved photos and the estimate (which was very reasonable). There is a flat fee that he starts with for all data retrieved and if no data is retrieved, there is no cost to the customer. Such an easy and pleasant experience! Well, I am going to write the 5 star review, when Solomon wasn't able to help me. I took a failed company Seagate Hard Drive to Mr. Sun telling him it was critical that we recovered the files. I dropped it off on Saturday at his home and by Tuesday he was able to tell me, that it was physically damaged, that the read/write heads were stuck into the disc and badly damaged the HDD. He said he wouldn't be able to fix it. We had good communication via Text and phone during that time. He said he could send it back to me, or I could pick it up at no cost. Once I told him, it was really critical to get ANYTHING off of it, he worked with me. Upon further evaluation, he said he could maybe order parts from his overseas contacts in Asia, and replace the read/write heads manufactured in 2012 as a long shot (no guaranty). I happened to find the exact make and model Hard Drive on Ebay made in the same month, I asked if I could buy one of those and send it to him for parts, he was open to that as well. After all that very helpful dialogue and willingness to help, he said his best estimate was 50% max recovery of files. He let me know, if i wanted more than 50% recovery, I should send it to Seagate Laboratories. I thanked him for all the help and willingness to even suggest taking my business elsewhere. As the HDD was critical, I did pick up the HDD, Mr. Sun wasn't going to accept any fees, as he offers free diagnostic. We sent the HDD to Seagate who charges $49 just to setup the account (Non-refundable). Then, if they are successful, they charge $649. After waiting nearly two weeks (vs. 3 days for Solomon) for Seagate to update me, I simply got an email, saying sorry nothing recoverable and they sent me back my drive. I had included letters and notes taped to the HDD explaining the critical nature of recovering ANYTHING, and they simply sent it back. Based on that horrible experience with Seagate, not once did I (or was I able to) talk to a live person and I was just a 'number' with them. Mr. Sun I am sure treats each situation with care and attention. So while no one was able to help me recover anything from my HDD, the comparison of the two experiences, Seagate a big fat Zero, Mr. Sun a 5. Clearly I was screwed no matter who I sent it too (the drive was too far gone), but Mr. Sun did everything he could to try and make it right, for that, thank you and a 5 star rating. read more

Mr. Sun is very professional engineer. I never lost my Data before so I had no idea about the cost to recover external hard drive. After I tried several store I was trying to go to cheaper price to save my data, and they couldn't save it . I wasted about a week to save my data to come back to mr. Sun to save my data.
