The food is good! I had some things I didn't enjoy as much as I had hoped but that's pretty expected as I got a large variety of items. They have a wide range of items that will soothe every craving. The service is good, all of the workers are very friendly. The ambiance could use some work but I enjoyed it and it didn't really take away from the experience. Sometimes it's alright to splurge and this is a bakery that will fill that urge for any type of sweet tooth (GF/Vegans) welcome! This place is located across from the YWCA with a ton of different food places, look for the chimney on top of the building, and follow the sweet smell. When you walk into the bakery it doesn't seem like much from the outside, but then you walk in to 2-3 cases of bakery goodies, mostly sweet, but there are savory options. My husband and I have been here countless time and there is always a team or girls to help us! The first time we went in, we asked for suggestions. A lady suggested we try the cupcakes: reason is because they had regular, vegan, and GF options, and didn't assume I fit into the regular category (much appreciated!!!) I'm actually not GF or Vegan, but I settled for a GF chocolate cupcake, and may I say, I was not disappointed. The flavor was on point, the cake was perfect, and the cream had the perfect amount of sweetness. Perfectly balanced cupcake. Lemon Cream Puff (GF): I'm a sucker for anything lemon and this is what I was suggested. It was a delicious dessert, but I'm not a fan of soggy bread. At the bakery I wanted to try little bites of everything, so I took only a bite of the cream puff, later it became soggy, so eat it right away!!! Lemon Bar: oh my, oh my! This was a perfectly balanced sweet and tarty dessert. I ate it so fast, there was no tomorrow for it (I liked this over the cream puff)! They also had an array of mini cakes? (or at least thats how I would describe them). They are known as bombs. Out of their array we have tried... -Thin Mint Bombe: this one is definitely the cookie all the way. When it isn't Girl Scout Season, find this dessert and you won't be disappointed. -Passion Fruit Bombe: this one tasted mostly like vanilla cake with a little fruit. I love tropical flavors, just wish it was more! Also I'm not a fan of white chocolate, but I really wanted passion fruit! -Heath Bombe: this is close to the candy bar, but can't beat the candy bar! It's more of a mousse consistency and I felt like I was missing the crunch, BUT it was a delicious cake. Now some savory options! They have sandwiches that can be made and to offset the sweetness my husband and I ordered the grilled cheese and the P.I.G. The grilled cheese is standard, but still delicious. I have rated them 5 stars before, but I am updating this because I have since ordered a wedding cake and desserts for my son's wedding; they continue to hit it out of the park with their gluten-free desserts, which are fantastic! Their employees always greet me when I walk in (they probably know me by now), and they know my favorite is the Temptation, the peanut butter fudge bar, or the cinnamon rolls. Ugh, see, I love their food!! I love in the summer how you can sit on the patio and enjoy the Colorado sunshine. Back to my sons wedding, they delivered the beautiful wedding cake to our venue along with the dessert bar, and the guests and my family loved it. A lot has been written about the bakery part but I wanted to share my experience with the new collaboration that's now under the same roof, Kenny Lou's Deli. Kenny Lou's is an Italian Jewish deli and they have an extensive menu to choose from for both breakfast and lunch. They make a lot of stuff in house and I can't wait to go back to try more. They have everything from sausage grinders to liver sandwiches to matza ball soup to breakfast burritos with latkas inside. My favorite thing was the sausage egg and cheese on brioche - it's such a simple combination but so luscious with their garlic aioli. I also tried the turkey Rachel (both breakfast and lunch are served all day), which I enjoyed and made me want to try their Reuben. I also got a tempeh breakfast burrito, which was a fun vegetarian option but I think I would probably opt for meat if I did burritos again. Overall, yum! There's a whole case of takeout if you don't want to wait or just need dinner for later- everything from Italian wedding soup to eggplant parmesan to mac and cheese. I stopped by here on my way to a work retreat to grab some desserts since I wanted to bring something more than just grocery store baked goods. Thankfully Yelp led me to Button Rock Bakery, as it was on my way to Erie, and it was perfect for what I was looking for! They had such a wide variety of desserts to choose from: cookies, cannolis, mini pies, mini cheesecakes, cake pops, cupcakes, eclairs, etc. I chose a selection of cookies, cake pops, cannolis and a mini vanilla cheesecake. It was a bit pricey, but honestly everyone loved the desserts! Not a single complaint! My favorite of the bunch was the pistachio cake pop. Just a side note, it was not the easiest to find as it's tucked away in the back but there's plenty of parking. Oh and the customer service was great! Even though I came in first thing in the morning, I was greeted with a smile and they were so great with answering all my questions about each dessert. Talk about temptation! Walking into Button Rock Bakery, I felt like a kid in a candy store. All the beautifully decorated cakes called out to me, just begging me to take them home with me. Luckily, I was there specifically for a cake that I had custom-made for my one-year-old's birthday celebration, so I had to exercise some restraint. I only made it out of there with one additional vanilla cupcake with pearl sprinkles, which was for a friend's belated birthday and not for me. Honest! The cake was such a hit with the adults and kiddos alike, including my little birthday boy. It was in birthday cake flavor (i.e. vanilla with funfetti) with Oreo mousse cream filling and buttercream frosting on the outside. The cake was light and not too sweet. I also gave the bakery free reign on how to decorate the cake, with only the instructions, "Make it fun." It was very classic in terms of decor, with a bunch of sprinkles covering the sides. (This includes our wedding cakes) He ordered a Lemon Poppy cake with lemon curd, and I assume it's vanilla buttercream (?) frosting. He asked for nothing extravagant with decorating. He said he really appreciated talking with the woman over the phone - she gave suggestions like the best icing to use, and suggesting adding different types of decorations like flowers or balloons. The end result was perfect. A simple design - but done with such care and an eye for detail. The cake itself was delicious - moist and a fluffy sponge, perfect ratio of filling and frosting, and a perfect balance of sweetness (I don't have a big sweet tooth at all, my husband does and he loves the cake just as much as I do) Looking forward to the cake I'll get my husband for his birthday already! I was so happy when I first discovered Button Rock at its old location in Forest Park. As a gluten-challenged person, I get irrationally excited to have options, and have also developed low standards over years of disappointment. Unfortunately, both the quality and service have gone dramatically downhill since Button Rock's relocation and expansion. GF blueberry muffin: one blueberry. Zero stars. GF chocolate chip muffin: dry as punk. Threw it away. GF ginger sammy: cookies were hard and dry, almost crispy. Supposed cream cheese buttercream just tasted like unsalted butter. Threw it away. GF eclair: these used to have a thick layer of chocolate and rich pastry cream. The last one I had tasted like it was full of hydrogenated whipped cream out of a can with chocolate-colored wax on top. And it was frozen. Threw it away. Cream puff: frozen. Bit into it with no warning and nearly chipped a tooth. Did they make this? Did they order it in bulk from Sysco? Why am I paying a premium for something straight out of the deep freezer? The associate offered to microwave it for me. Microwave this. GF custom cakes: we've given them several tries, but all were day-old dry with flavorless icing. Nice way to ruin a birthday. I cried. They took over the old morning glory bakery and are in that little forest park shopping plaza right next door to the cafe. They have lots of cute seating to enjoy your treats, and some other side goods for sale too. This location is also offering cake services and lunch items too.
