I avoided this place for years based on bad reviews online, but on a whim decided to try it finally, for a doordash delivery of baked goods on a weekend morning. Unfortunately, the reviews were on point for this bakery. They tasted stale, and like a sad day in each bite. I was so disappointed in everything I ordered, and I ordered about 8 different pastries. From the danish, the "sausage roll" to the cinnamon roll to the croissants....it was such a tremendous let down and a waste of money. Nothing tasted fresh - I have had lots and lots of day of baked goods at many bakeries in my lifetime, its one of my favorite things to eat and none of this tasted good. I just don't recommend this place at all, ever. I will never go back, but look forward to the day when someone I know personally lets me know they had a good experience. read more

The food is so good, those Kaiser rolls are so good, I'm addicted to them. When bread is as healthy as these Kaiser rolls, usually they don't taste good, but these ones taste incredible. Their service is great, fast, and the people working are so friendly. The environment is so great as well. Definitely recommend coming here, it's so worth it. Get yourself a bag of Kaiser rolls and make yourself a good sandwich, or get yourself one of their tasty treats and sit somewhere and drink a coffee. Everything they have is good and worth buying. I saw this place while in town for a bit and was pretty excited to have some fresh Bavarian pastries. I was a little disappointed at how they all looked, seemed all the rugula was burned, so I tried a few other things like the apple fritter, baklava, and blueberry streusel. Nothing seemed fresh, I'm guessing at least a few days old and the apple strudel and baklava were pretty bland, probably because they wasn't very fresh. I tried a few bites of the blueberry streusel and was not impressed either and threw all 3 of them out. Maybe they're not baking as often because of covid and they're not selling much on a daily basis, but I definitely will not be going back there. read more

Love love love their Sunflower Whole Wheat bread- I make special trips across town just to buy that!!! Unfortunately, it sells out fairly fast, but if you ask, they often have some in the freezer. No German style rolls or bread, unfortunately (in spite of the name), but I imagine there isn't much demand for those around here. Their pastries are also good, though again, not German at all. Their wood-fired pizzas, however, are delicious, reminding me of some we had in Europe- not the normal "slathered with tons of cheese" type most restaurants around here serve. Yum. This place is definitely worth checking out if you are in Longmont! All kinds of danishes, strudels, and delicious flaky pastries. I am actually angry with myself that we haven't been going there since we moved to Longmont. They recently painted the sides of their building bright orange with BAKERY in huge letters and being the visual person I am, I had to check them out. So glad I did. They also have pies which I haven't tried yet but need to, and loaves of bread which I believe they said are both Kosher and organic. Okay, I am going to preface this by saying I am not well-versed in German breads and pastries. But I think this place is just fantastic. Every time I go in the people are friendly. I have been buying their bread since I moved back to Colorado in 2008 and haven't found anything else that comes close in terms of flavor, simplicity of ingredients, and nutrition. I usually buy directly from the store to get a fresher loaf. I LOVE their pastries. I could eat one of their cheese danishes every day. The doughs are flaky and tender, the icings are not overly sweet or overly present, and the fruit and cheese fillings are delicious. Plus the prices can't be beat. Comparing these to other grocery stores and even Whole Foods, I'd say Bavarian definitely trumps the competition in the area. read more

I really wanted to like this place. When I got there, a gentleman was touching up the painting of baked goods on the outside, and it was quiet. I decided to try rum balls, a macaroon, and baklava. The rum ball wasn't too rum-laden, though it was a bit mushy. I would have preferred a more cakey texture or something closer to gulab jamun, but it seemd undercooked. At least I didn't have to worry that my co-workers would think I'd had a few lunchtime cocktails. The macaroon, though also seemingly a bit undercooked, was better. It was cakier than the ones I get at Whole Foods, but it had enough coconut and was quite tasty. The baklava was my fave from this place. It was very gooey, but in a good caramelly way. The pastry was flaky, too. I'd try this place again, but I wouldn't recommend it without finding a true gem amongst their goods first. read more

Nothing in this place is Bavarian, from the tons American pastries (they looked pretty good), American style rye, and soft rolls. As someone who LOVES German brochen I was seriously disappointed. First the good stuff: Fast, friendly service, hot coffee, amazing pastries and bread. Now the bad: The decor is dreadfully dated and a little shabby. With the exception of a handful of lunch items, there's nothing "Barvarian" about the food. It's basically the same menu you'd get at any diner. I ordered the Eggs Benedict while my friend got the Wienerschnitzel Sandwich. Everything on my plate was lukewarm. The eggs should have been poached, but were instead completely cooked through like a hard boiled egg. The English muffins were barely toasted and the hashbrowns were the opposite of crispy. My friend's sandwich was better, with the meat crispy and hot, although his fries were as sad as my hashbrowns. Everything was "edible" but there are much better places in town to grab brunch or a sandwich. Clearly their specialty is baked goods and not breakfast/lunch! read more

We've driven by lots of times but never stopped in until today. We were just hoping for a couple of pastries to hold us over until dinner, but after seeing the full menu we decided to get a pizza to go, too. While waiting for our order, we chatted with staff and learned that they smoke their own meats, make their own pizza dough using 3 types of flour and that the baker is amazing! The pizza crust is delicious, crisp and tender, it is thin which I think compliments the fresh toppings beautifully. If you expect a thick doughy crust you will be disappointed- or maybe ask if the can do a thicker crust? Pastries were delicious and the service was prompt, friendly and informative. I think you have excellent desserts but unfortunately I only want one specifically and am a bit disappointed that there is none left when I make my trip down there.... Although I'm always glad to have a local bakery, I wish this one tasted just a bit better. The selection is good, especially earlier in the day but the brownie was hard and the mini eclair was just ok. The cheese Danish sample was good. I bought one of their breads at King Soopers in Cheyenne. I am trying to eat healthier and this bread looked good. 100% stone ground whole wheat whole grain. The problem was, it just kept falling apart when I used it for sandwiches. I have never before seen any bread just break apart like this one. Every time I would take a bite large pieces of the bread just kept breaking off and splitting apart. Will not purchase this brand again! read more

I've been buying the Bavarian Farmer's Rye loaf at King Soopers for several years. It was a little pricey but very good. In the past three months we've been very disappointed. The price is the same but the quality has diminished. The consistency is not the same, and the crust tends to fall off the loaf and break very easily all the time. I'm sure the proportions of the ingredients have changed and not for the better. Unless it quickly improves, I will look for something different. Don't be fooled by any negative remarks. This place is awesome. The pastries are all delicious. I only go in for breakfast but what I've had was all very good. The decor isn't flashy. Well, I am a native German and this is NOT what a German or Bavarian bakery looks like. The bread is not fresh. The pastries are not German or even European style. I went in there, was shocked and embarrassed. I got a pre-packed lame bread that was made by somebody else (as indicated on it's label), and the pastries were not German either. I am not sure if this so-called "master baker" got his degree and couldn't hold a job over there so he came here. PLEASE don't think that this is what a German bakery looks like or sells. It is not at all the case. German bakeries have a huge selection for great breads, mostly not just white bread, and the pastries are high quality as well even in the bakery chains. I am not saying to not buy here, just don't buy here and expect the high standards usually known in German bakeries. read more
