Cheese Importers is a Colorado family-owned business founded in 1976. They offer natural, organic, and imported cheeses, cured meats, specialty oils, spices, olives, chocolate, and other unique specialty foods. They also have wonderful French & Italian food items, and kitchen and dining ware. There are children's gifts, beeswax candles, gift wrap, gorgeous jigsaw puzzles, glassware, French table linens, aprons, and much, much more. It is worth the experience to visit this extraordinary shop! The building was formerly the Power & Communications Building, which Cheese Importers took over in 2012. The shop is gorgeous, and the buyers are fantastic, stocking it with so many beautiful items that you will not easily find in other shops or online. The staff is friendly and informative. The prices are very high, and I don't recommend buying items you can find in your local grocery store or gift shop, but if you find interesting, unique, and beautiful items that you love, then it is worth spending the money, in my opinion. This is a great place to find exceptional gifts, especially for someone who likes to entertain. Must take home a fresh French baguette and some caramels! What a lovely experience! The only thing I wish they had were tiny samples of different cheeses. Some cheeses we would have liked to try before purchasing for $10-$12 a pop. But the market feel, the variety, the customer service, patio, cute atmosphere, selection, and warm baguettes made it quite the experience. We were impressed and I would drive all the way from Littleton to experience it again. We basically built ourselves a little picnic and sat outside on the patio to enjoy it all. Bring your own plates, utensils if you plan on doing what we did. We made do with the plastic knives and napkins from the bakery, but it would have been better if we came more prepared. Francophiles and Italophiles rejoice! Been here a few times with friends in the past and have always gotten some really yummy cheese. This time I really took the time to browse and slow down to enjoy all the offerings, in addition to the cheese. I never realized there was a 2nd floor until today, there were so many nice soaps and pretty things to look at. Love their collection of Emily Henry and Le Creuset products. I always thought they were mostly French but have found some Spanish and Italian items today. Love that they have those dozen escargot with herb butter from France. I've been missing them since Park Hill Supermarket stopped carrying them. So many niche items, if traveling to Europe is tough to do, maybe stop over in Longmont for the Cheese Importer for a quick reminiscence! read more

Who knew you needed to drive to Longmont if you wanted a huge selection of cheese. The walk in fridge is the size of a convenience store, with shelves of cheese from across the globe. Its hard to not get overwhelmed with so many options to choose from. The shop is located in a large rustic older building, that has a cafe and lots of nicknacks and oddities that are fun to browse. I am SO excited that Moxie Bread Co. has made its way to Longmont inside the legendary Cheese Importers! In December 2025, Cheese Importers revamped their interior to now have a cute little cafe equipped with all kinds of goodies (sandwiches both hot and cold, pastries, coffee, tea, etc) and the perfect place to stop in for breakfast/lunch while shopping. They added a bunch of seating inside where the wine used to be as well as outside in their little patio area. We stopped in yesterday to check it out and had a lovely experience. We ordered the Le Club and Pastrami sandwich as well as a cookie and Matcha latte. All fresh ingredients with the classic Moxie quality. The pastrami special is one of my favorites - hot pastrami, melty Swiss, sauerkraut, and mustard all perfectly pressed panini style. Love it. They also have fresh milled Moxie flour, which I didn't get this trip but I absolutely will be back to grab a bag. I'm so glad they have a cafe now making the shopping experience even more enjoyable. I loved seeing all the new products they're carrying as well. I snagged some Boulder bone broth, yummy chocolate treats, fresh meats and cheeses from the cheese locker, and we obviously had to grab some macarons. This has been and continues to be one of my favorite places in Colorado. read more

The first thing that stands out are highly inflated prices. This place felt like a tourist trap . They have cool stuff and large variety of items but so overpriced. The store has very large selection of cheeses .Simple cheddar cheese cost us almost $9 per half lb . If you really really need something specific that you can't find at Whole Foods you'll probably will find here but it will cost you an arm and a leg. first of all, we absolutely love the cheese selection. I will say this place feels like it's a majority of tchotchkes in home items with maybe about 45% of it being food or cheese. The selection itself was pretty diverse from really all across the globe. The baguette was absolutely phenomenal. If I lived closer, I swear I would be getting a baguette almost every day. Incredibly soft and moist in the middle, but just the right amount of crunchiness on the outside. We got a couple of different hard and soft cheeses from France in the US. Both were incredibly tasty. Top notch retail in Longmont. Plenty of off-street parking. Be sure to go to the west side of the building, looks like the back but that is the entrance. No entry from Main Street. Check out the swag upstairs, tons of linens, soaps, novelty items, puzzles, perfumes and some books. An amazing selection of cheeses, this is destination worthy, so be plan your visit. All are welcome! You can also buy freshly baked baguette, until it runs out. And then sit in the patio to enjoy your treasures and try your cheese. The Cheese Importers is THE BEST! They have nothing but very high quality products, including hard to find cheese of all types. It's a great place to buy gifts too. They mostly have food items (cheese, cured meats, cookies, chocolate, honey, jams, etc) but they also have nice housewares like pottery, soap, lotions, dish towels - all kinds of things! Their desserts are great, but like many locals, I wish they would reopen the bistro! Maybe one day... they do have food trucks that visit from time to time, though. This is one of my absolutely favorite places to go in Longmont! I love the cheese selections, the knowledgeable staff, and the selections of other foods and housewares. It's always fun to visit, and it's always a start to a great food adventure when it comes to trying new cheeses and pairing it with fun cheese board options, like jams, jellies, honeys, meats, vegetables, and more. My favorite part is the "cheese room" -- I don't know what it's official name is, but the "cheese room" is what I call it. It's a refrigerated room with more cheeses and cheese board options than I've ever seen in one place before. If you arrive without a jacket to keep you warm, that's ok! They have jackets to lend while you shop. Cheese Importers is where I go when I need to take visitors somewhere neat or where I go when I just want to have a little adventure on my own. 10/10 -- I recommend! read more

Very interest place to visit and shop. Cheeses are just the tip of the iceberg. They have a large variety of old favorite and new items. The staff there is very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Stunningly good customer service accompanied by a friendly and kind tone. It is comforting to be in such a positive, cozy place. Visited on a Friday evening, and enjoyed the added benefit of live music, a three-piece band that was outstanding. Really added to the environment. I'm not much of a cheese connoisseur, but they have EVERYTHING, and they have terrific people all around to aid your search. Over 400 different types of cheese, different 'hard to find' food specialties from all over the world, dishes, wine, soap, beautiful objects for gardening, local honey, cheese/cooking books and such a beautiful children's room filled with the toys from my own childhood. What a great gem in Longmont! There's a nice store filled with various kitchen stuff, European centered snacks/ingredients, and alcohol. Then there's a whole part 2 of the store where it's FILLED with cheese. This is the most expansive cheese selection I've run into, EVER. The entire part is the size of a smaller store and it's basically like being inside a cheese display case. There's also an area where they are slicing meats and serve yourself accompaniments such as olives and pickles. Chips, crackers, and other cheese tray additions are sprinkled throughout. read more

I've been coming here for years and just love to see the expression on my friend's and family's faces when they see the cheese room for the first time. Had a lovely afternoon in the upstairs dining area today taking in the choose your two combo (I went for the French onion soup and Sammy). Both delicious. Sandwich came with chips which were fun to dip into the soup. From the cashier to the gal bussing tables nearly everyone was friendly and helpful. While the restaurant closes at 5pm the staff circulated to let us know that the registers would be open just a tad longer to allow purchases of their wares and cheese . I reassured them I'd be happy to leave right at five and was told by two staffers that I would be good to stay until 5:30, likely a tad later (as they noted there was still a bit for the staff to do). Just minutes before 5:30 pm a staffer came by to survey the upstairs dining area (I was the last one left). She irritatingly told me they closed at 5pm then proceeded to go downstairs and announce loudly that "no one could go home as there was still someone up there". Feeling rather confused and embarrassed I wrapped up and got out of dodge. Overall great experience however due to the uncomfortableness of my last staff interaction I'll likely not be back for awhile. read more

What a wonderful little find in Longmont! Headed up for a casual lunch to do something a little different. This is the place! A cross between a French Bistro and a gourmet food and cheese shop! This will be a great place to dine on their outdoor patio when the weather allows! We started by placing our order for a yummy lunch with choices including French Onion Soup, sandwiches and salads. My friend and shared their avocado toast and Bistro club sandwich. The avocado toast was was served on thick cut bread, lightly pickled beets, julienne cucumbers and feta cheese, a tasty mouthful of goodness. The club sandwich was less than memorable but still nice on a crusty baguette with French grainy mustard and kettle chips. They have a great selection of pastries as well. While waiting for our lunch, we wandered around their store and enjoyed yummy samples of imported cheeses, tampenade, and olive oils.
