Some of Colorado's best Mom and Pop shops reside in small mountain town's like Empire. Lewis Sweet Shop Empire has amazing barks, saltwater taffies, and great lunch items like frito pies and turkey melts. P: @diningcolorado

We are so glad to see this opening back up! Please stop on your way down from skiing and adventuring. They have amazing handmade treats but they also have amazing ice cream and even better shakes! They have a whole menu of shakes to try. My husband got the banana malt and I'm honestly not sure he tasted it, it was gone so fast!!

Man we loved this spot! Eccentric and over the top both inside and outside- the owners are both caring, knowledgeable and really want you to have the best experience AND food! Staying close by in a fantastic VRBO we walked over and are so happy we did! We both got the sliced brisket sandwiches with coleslaw- so so yummy- we would probably do chopped next time. And then to finish it up we had a thick shake comprised of a chocolate base, then added coffee an Oreos! Like real Oreos! Fantastic! And don't worry about my description- the owner will help you put it all together!! The thick shakes are where it's at- like a large soft serve but better!! Get a small though- whewie!

So we stopped to get lunch to eat on the river and wait for traffic to clear

So it's Sunday afternoon and we drive through this little town. We get to the picnic spot and realize we want food at our picnic. So we drive back to the little town and stop at this super sweet place. The owner was super friendly and his wife did an amazing job creating my burger, when I tell people how weird it was the simply lay out of flavors obviously makes me sound pregnant... which is not the case. I had an elk burger with ghost paper cheese, peanut butter strawberry jelly AND bacon... the burger comes with chips but I order sirachi French fries as well. WOW. My boyfriend thought I had lost my mind, but man it was so good. Burger wasn't over cooked and everything blended so well. I will be going back to this place to try out the home made shakes and a different burger combination! Thank you for making that mouth watering burger perfect and not judging me on what I had requested!

2 large Avalanche Thick Shakes. Chocolate and snickers, vanilla and Reese's cups.

Fantastic establishment! Owners were very accommodating, let us order 10 mins to close and eat our food after the store had closed. Thank you for the excellent service! Not to mention HUGE amount of food. Next time we are in the Empire, CO will definitely stop here again.

Love this place and their new building is beautiful and has a great history! Thank you for the delightful lunch and conversation!

I hope no one reads this review as Lewis Sweet Shop has been a best kept secret for years. On the other hand, I want this place to stay in business for many years to come, so yes, give them your business! This place has been a must stop on the way home from Winter Park for more than a decade now. I used to go just for the amazing ice cream shakes. Fabulous flavors, you choose thick or thin, and can even add yummy malkin flavor. However I've been more adventurous lately and have tried other sweet offerings, of which they have an amazing and creative assortment. Such as their sweet deviled eggs (white chocolate, rice crispies). Also, the Apple Pie - tastes fresh out of the oven, has perfect crust, and beautiful balance of cinnamon. Mint oreo bark - what can I say? YUM. See picture. I've also heard their food menu is outstanding. Some day I'll save some room to try a burger or pulled pork sand, fried veggies, etc.

This had a name I'm forgetting, but it was the ~raspberry-chocolate bacon onion ring burger. Delicious monstrosity.

This place is amazing. A real roadside gem. Stopped here after doing some hiking and boy am I glad we did. The burgers were amazing, the shakes were old school huge, and the menu makes me want to live here so that I can try everything on it. On the next drive through, I'm planning this as a stop because I need to try several more things. The burger I got was a special posted near the register. Something with a raspberry chocolate sauce, onion rings, etc., etc. It was sweet, tangy, salty, crunchy, melt-in-your-mouth amazing. One of the best burgers I've ever had. And if that sounds too weird for you, their menu is ridiculously long and posted all over one wall. There's guaranteed to be something for everyone and anyone. The guy behind the counter was really nice and helpful, too. 11/10, will return. Well worth a stop if you're driving by on the highway.

Quick note though, they do not pick up their phone. I called three times before heading over and it just rang straight to voicemail each time, so don't count on getting ahold of anyone. We walked in as a two top and got seated in the back room. At first I wasn't loving it since it's kind of cut off from the rest of the restaurant and the ambiance definitely takes a hit back there. But our server Tristen completely turned that around. Super knowledgeable, funny, kind, and quick. He also paid close attention to my girlfriend's allergies and made sure she could order without stressing, which I really appreciated. Food wise, everything hit. Classic steakhouse vibes in the best way. My ribeye was cooked perfectly and the mussels we started with were actually great, which you don't always expect out here in Colorado being landlocked. All in all, aside from the back room situation and the phone issue, this place delivered. Honestly feels like that space should be reserved for private events or opened up a bit. Huge shoutout to Tristen though, he alone bumped this from a solid 3 to a 4 for me.

If you're looking for a spot with a great bar vibe, solid drinks, and good food in Louisville,…read moreRocky Mountain Tap & Burger is a great option. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, the kind of place where anyone can walk in and feel comfortable. It works just as well for a casual hangout as it does for a night out with friends. The drinks are a highlight. Between the self-pour tap wall, infused liquors, and a well-balanced cocktail menu, there's a lot to choose from. Even the homemade Dr Pepper stood out. For food, the wings were a favorite. Crispy, well cooked, and paired with house-made sauces that really made a difference. The chocolate chip cookie sundae was also a standout and a great way to end the meal. One of the most impressive parts is their dedicated gluten free pizza kitchen. The in-house dough is well done and doesn't feel like a compromise, which is great if you're gluten free or dining with someone who is. Overall, it's a well-rounded spot that does a lot of things right.

There are tables and a bar, the place is well lit and clean. There are also tables for groups and an outdoor area which is great. I am not a beer drinker so I ordered wine. I got a pepperoni pizza so that I could take leftovers to my husband. I also was curious about the gluten free crust. The pizza was good - the pepperoni flavorful. It had a lot of cheese and I would have preferred a little less so that I could better taste the pepperoni and the crust. And the crust was also good. This is a great option for a place to gather with a group if there are gluten free eaters you need to accommodate for as there are many choices. The servers were friendly and due to it being a slow time of day, it took a bit for someone to get to us, but we weren't in a hurry so it was all good. I would definitely try this one again.

I was torn but left my choice up to the bartender recommendation for the main, augmented with falafel. I was not disappointed. If you get stuck just flip a coin and it'll probably work out. If anything the worst part is the shopping center where the nearby stores throw you for a moment before you commit to the eclectic variety bar. Their interior decorations are a ridiculous blend of whatever holiday they have left up, and a death or 70-80s heavy metal bar. It is whimsically metal? Hard to even compare it, it works. The sound and the joy gave off such a great vibe immediately when walking into this establishment. This review is based on a sit down dinner and a take out on another night because our sit down was so good! Here's all that we tried: POST CHEDDAR BISCUITS - hot and cheesy - these were not as flakey as they looked like they were going to be. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. ROASTED BRUSSELS SPROUTS - sweet and spicy peppers, garlic mojo, cotija cheese | *a portion of sales from this item go to Zero Foodprint -- an org working to combat climate change in the food & beverage industry - these were good, great crispiness, char was flavorful and the sauce was sweet and tangy. Subsequently, I made a hash for breakfast with leftovers from here and these proved to be GOOD flavoring. GREEN CHILE BISON SAUSAGE BOARD (LAFAYETTE) - Rock river bison sausages, hard boiled eggs, dill pickles, bread and butter pickle relish, baked baguette, peach honey mustard - I'm a sucker for charcuterie, the bison sausage was so delicious, I ordered another after we finished the first. This also went into the next day hash! FRIED HALF CHICKEN - our famous gluten free fried chicken, choice of side, pickles, and a biscuit - ordered this on or second visit (takeout night) and did not regret a thing. It was fantastically fried to crispy perfection. The chicken was juicy and tasted like they brined it in pickle juice. CHICKEN TENDERS - all natural tenders, breaded and fried, served with ranch - good chicken, also went into the hash. OG POST BURGER*- american cheese, bacon onion jam, special sauce, griddled sourdough english muffin & fries - good burger, personally, I'd appreciate better cheese! QUINOA & KALE - quinoa, kale, arugula, roasted sweet potatoes, pickled red onions, roasted tomatoes, cucumbers, toasted sesame and sunflower crunch, lemon tahini dressing - the dressing MADE this salad, good job Chef! PUEBLO GREEN CHILE MAC & CHEESE - nothing spectacular, I would have liked this with more green chile and a better cheese base. The parking isn't a lot, but it didn't seem like people had trouble at all. We walked. It's a great little neighborhood restaurant. As I said early on, it was tasty enough to warrant a second visit!
